today was the draw for the 1st round of the dfb cup. of course there are no great duels yet. but maybe there will be one or two surprises and an
amateur club can annoy a professional club. here are all the matches of the 1st round to see.

This weekend is the start of the 1st round. Except for Leipzig and Bayern Munich. They do not play this weekend but at the end of September because they play against each other in the Supercup at Saturday evening.
The DFB Cup is a joy for the clubs from the lower leagues. Most of the time they lose, but sometimes there are surprises. In any case, it is an experience for the players and fans that they often never get again in life.

We have seen not that rarely that these low leagues teams in here cause huge surprises,of course not so often either but from time to time they do.Maybe because the motivation of the players from these low leagues when they face teams from the Bundesliga should be sky high as they want to showcase their skills in front of different managers and as such having a chance of improving their career.While this is great for the players of the low leagues it is very bad for us bettors who sometimes lose bets with 1.10 or lower odds as we are trying to get some sure money by betting on the teams from Bundesliga who happens to make surprise results for us.

the first DFB cup sensation is perfect. the third league team Victoria Köln has won against Werder Bremen with 3:2 and is one round further.
who has bet on Köln today has now made a good profit. füllkrug alone cannot save bremen  ;)

Yes, Werder Bremen certainly imagined it differently. But so ist the DFB cup. There are always surprises.
Another surprise was Unterhaching from Bundesliga 3 won against Augsburg from Bundesliga 1.
There are still 4 games tonight. So there may be more surprises to come. 

and there is already the next big surprise in the dfb pokal : Darmstadt 98 was eliminated today. Darmstadt 98 lost 0:3 at regional league team FC. Homburg .
who bet on Homburg today has now a little more money on the betting account . so the following Bundesliga teams are eliminated in the first round:

tonight there is still the game VFL Osnabrück against 1:FC Köln. is there still a funny result   ;D ;D

But it remains with only one surprise. Osnabrück hoped for a long time and they also managed to take Köln to extra time. But in the end, the Osnabrück players had no more power and Köln deserved to win. Osnabrück however, fought great.
Now we have to wait until Bayern Munich and Leipzig have played their games at the end of September. Only then the draw for round 2 can be made.

yesterday was the 31 match of the first round of the dfb pokal . bayern münchen of course won 4:0 at preußen münster.
but it was a costly victory for the team from münchen : why ? Serge Gnabry broke his arm in the match and will be out for several weeks.
unfortunately, this is a bitter diagnosis for bayern. today there is also the last match of the first round:
red bull leipzig has to play sv wehen. normally leipzig should win easily there. but you never know: the cup often has its own rules and the underdog wins.

edit: after 10 minutes the favourite already leads 1:0  ;)

It was a great experience for Preußen Münster to play against Bayern Munich. Nobody assumed that they could win this game.

SV Wehen, on the other hand, played really well against Leipzig. Leipzig makes a lot of mistakes now and SV Wehen almost scored the 2:2. Maybe a surprise will really happen here.

Great game from Wehen. Both teams scored  and the final score was 3:2 for Leipzig. A great performance by Wehen and with a bit of luck they could have gone into extra time.

The draw for the next round for the DFB Cup will take place on 01 October. The matches will take place at 31 October and 01 November.

Not only clubs from Bundesliga 1 will be eliminated. There are also many teams from Bundesliga 2 will also play against each other.

It is a pity that many of the "small" clubs were already knocked out in the first round. There are only a few left that are not in Bundesliga 1 or 2. 5 teams from League 3 and only one from League 4 (FC Homburg).  Of course, many keep their fingers crossed for the small club for a win.

Last years DFB Cup winner can no longer be this years winner. Leipzig was knocked out in the DFB Cup from VFL Wolfsburg. They won 1:0. Leipzigs player Poulsen even got a red card in minute 56.
And another surprise in the DFB Cup. FC Homburg from League 4 won against Fürth (League 2). Homburg is nearly the last team that is still in the DFB Cup but not in Bundesliga 1 or 2.

yes. as i wrote a few weeks ago. the first 4 bundesliga clubs have been eliminated. leipzig,heidenheim , union berlin and 1.fc köln are no longer in it.
and tonight dortmund or hoffenheim are guaranteed to be eliminated. maybe we'll see one or two surprises in the eight games tonight but we'll see !
at 11 pm we'll all be wiser. the dfb cup is always good for a surprise.

Two teams that are not in Bundesliga 1 or 2 still have a chance today to reach the next round and bowl out either Bayern Munich or Frankfurt. But I do not think Saarbrücken will have much of a chance. Viktoria Köln would have more of a chance. As you wrote, we will know more tonight.

i think these green tips will advance one round today. bayern will also win and frankfurt will probably also win at viktoria köln. the only thing i'm unsure about is kiel against magdeburg. the guest from magdeburg could also win there. because the magdeburg fans will support their team in kiel very loudly.
but the dortmunden team is also unpredictable this season. this match is also sure to be highly interesting.

The draw for the finals of the last 16 teams will take place at sunday. Only one team from League 3 and one from League 4 left. Let us see against whom they will play.

Bayern was just hilarious.
Imagine a team of mostly national players losing ( after having a 1:0 lead ) to a 15th place 3rd devision team, these stories are only written in cup games.

I checked and saw that betting Saarbrücken would have brought a 30:1 payout, that's some nice odds.  ;D

Also, I feel sorry for all the thousands of people that put Bayern in their parley just to make the odds a tiny bit higher, but luck for these people. ;D

Just as some other top teams in the Carabao cup like Arsenal and Manchester United were knocked out, Bayern suffered the same fate in the DFB-Pokal. They lost to me because they never expected it and most likely have underestimated FC SAARBRUCKEN. There was no Harry Kane in the team, maybe if he was in they would not have scored only one goal all through the game. Bayern have been knocked out from the competition a lot, with them now having one less competition to play, they should be able to focus more on defending the Bundesliga and winning the Champions league.

The difference is that, Bayern Munich are supposed to win pretty much every trophy they enter, to consider their season a successful one. While, for Arsenal, United, even winning 1 trophy at the moment will be considered a good season. Unfortunate for Bayern as its a major set back for their ongoing season. While also having their primary defender getting injured in the process.

@vennali I totally agree with your statement as this is a major upset and I guess Kane will be disappointed as he won’t be winning this trophy as a Bayern player this season. Lastly this exit should be a wake up call for Bayern that they cannot underestimate any opponent especially in Bundesliga where every point will matter as the season progresses ahead.

Bayern Munich was in this match better them the other team by a lot. They just couldnt convert their chances into goals and when you miss that much a punishment must come. Ofcourse it did in the last minute and they couldnt change anything. Bayern wanted to save some of the players but ended up getting knockout again from the cup.

I would advise you not to trust Bayern Munich ever in the DFB Pokal. Because they are always doing this sooner or later. This isn't the first time they are losing to a much lower tier team in this cup. They can even get very surprising results against Bundesliga teams in this cup such as the Monchengladbach example from two seasons ago - which ended up with a 5-0 loss.  :(

As a result it is the best to avoid betting on Bayern Munich win when it comes to this competition. They just don't care about it at all seemingly. We saw that in the Saarbrucken match as well. We saw really poor performances from players like Sane.

In recent years I have always avoided placing bets on the cup games in each country because many of the big teams have a very complicated game schedule, so these big teams choose to rotate players when the cup starts, but when It's about being in the cup final, so these big teams play more seriously. I saw a lot of people commenting critically on Bayern's defeat, but when we look back a few months ago we can see that Bayern weren't doing well, they didn't have good results in terms of being that same team that scored a lot of goals, but they were doing well in the European champions league games, which in a way would make any fan think that the coach's position was guaranteed.

but what we saw in practice was that Bayern's management was much more concerned about the risk of not being able to win the Bundesliga and it didn't matter if the coach was doing well in the Champions League, so they fired the coach and I believe that Tuchel has We took this into consideration to the point of not risking Kane in this cup game and other good players didn't start playing, they entered the field during the game, probably to avoid injuries because Bayern in the next game will play against Dortmund, in a game which will be very important because currently Bayern are not at the top, they are in second place and a defeat or draw in this game against Dortmundo could put Bayern in a situation where they would see the title going away

yesterday the draw for the round of sixteen in the dfb cup was made and the remaining 6 bundesliga clubs will once again have two bl duels. saarbrücken, who beat bayern, will play at home against eintracht frankfurt and the regional league team fc homburg (4th german league) will face the leaders of the 2nd bundesliga, st. pauli.

Since Bayern and Leipzig are gone there is only one real highlight game left, and that's Stuttgart vs Dortmund.

The way Dortmund is playing, especially away, this should go to Stuttgart I think, I don't really understand why they are so strong this season, but somehow they are.
Saarbrücken also got a nice pick, another highlight for them. Maybe they can pull off the next big surprise?

The rest of the games is more "meh" in my eyes.

In addition to the shocking elimination of Bayern Munich from the competition Freiburg and Leipzig were also eliminated. Those were also surprising news for me.

Because I wouldn't expect those teams not to care about the DFB cup much. One of the biggest teams in the competition have been eliminated too now so the other teams have a much bigger chance to go for the title. Freiburg were statistically impressive but Paderborn must have played their most efficient match - 3 goals in 3 shots on target.

Aside from that Leipzig had a much tougher match against Wolfsburg. But their effort was quite poor which led to their elimination. Especially that red card shown to Poulsen was a big hit.

Now among the remaining teams Leverkusen and Dortmund are the biggest favourites. Maybe Stuttgart would surprise us but they need Guirassy recovered from the injury first.

Stuttgart vs. Dortmund: This is definitely an exciting match. Both teams even play against each other in the Bundesliga 1 at Saturday. But one will not be able to take much from the game, as the DFB Cup match will be a completely different one.

Homburg vs. St. Pauli. A good draw for Homburg, which might even be seen on television. League 4 against the actual number one in the table from Bundesliga 2.

oha.the hamburger sv has to go to berlin . there was something..... in the relegation to the 1st bundesliga the hsv won 1:0 in berlin .
this time the result would be enough to get one round further . i think that 20k or even 25k hamburger fans will travel to berlin to support the hambuger team .
nevertheless hertha bsc berlin is for me the favourite in this match . i hope however that both hamburger teams win and that it then comes to the derby in the dfb cup

Today and tomorrow the round of 16 in the DFB Cup takes place. There are only 2 teams left who not play in Bundesliga 1 or Bundesliga 2. FC Homburg plays in League 4 and tonight against St. Pauli. Tomorrow Saarbrücken (League 3) will play against Eintracht Frankfurt. Both teams from the Bundesliga should be careful. Homburg have won against Darmstadt and Fürth so far. And Saarbrücken have even beaten Bayern Munich.

The cup games in most top European countries, placing a bet on those games might be quite risky as most of these top teams prefer chasing their league title and European titles rather than a less competitive title hence, the rotation in the squad. Owing to these rotations, surprises could spur out and lead to them playing against your prediction on your bet slip. An example is Bayern Munich who were defeated by a team who sits 15 on the log in the 3rd Division of the German League, that’s crazy.

 You can see Bayern’s pointman, Kane out because to the coach, he needed to keep fit and stay cool for the league and the UCL and that risk really paid off. I think the League game in Germany will be quite complicating especially for a team like Leverkusen who still wants to keep chasing the title. Probably there could be rotation but would it result to the losing the game?? Well Xabi Alonso would do best what suits his team and in his choice, make the fan’s happiness his priority.

Borussia Monchengladbach Vs VfL Wolfsburg

Borussia Monchengladbach take on Wolfsburg in Round of 16 DFB Pokal action at Borussia-Park today. Both teams are in good form and have scored in their last few matches, so this match could be exciting and high-scoring. Home advantage may play a role for Monchengladbach, but Wolfsburg's strong away form in the competition suggests they will be tough opponents. It will be interesting to see which team will come out on top in this DFB Pokal clash. A draw is a likely outcome considering recent performances but Borussia Monchengladbach could qualify for the next round with home advantage.

If the "little" clubs play against the big ones, I dare to bet some money. Especially when the clubs from League 3 downwards will play against Bayern Munich. In general, it seems that Bayern Munich are no longer have much interest in the DFB Cup (like you wrote about the case with Kane). They won the DFB Cup the last time in 2020. After that they only reached the 2nd round three times and the quarter-finals once. So if one have generally bet against Bayern Munich the last 4 times they have got a good win each time.

I am not sure if you have ever followed the drama taking place at the Säbener Street when Bayern gets kicked out of the DFB Pokal in an early round. If you wanna call that "no longer have much interest in the DFB Cup", something doesn't add up there! :D It is getting close to being the end of the world for a few days and a trainer discussion is automatically initiated. The media is slapping the club's face for a whole week wherever they can and the bosses are looking as if they just lost a loved one.

The truth is that Bayern played some very bad DFB Cup rounds in recent years and deserved to be eliminated. In the Bundesliga they can get away with losing a couple of games like that because there is no team ready to take the opportunity and win the title. That's the huge difference between the DFB Cup and the Bundesliga.

I'm happy to see Kaiserslautern to perform so well in the cup this year.
At the beginning they also looked quite good in the 2nd league but for some reason they fell off the radar and even had to change their coach recently.

Anyway, it's always nice to see traditional clubs woth a long history to perform well.

Today hopefully Dortmund will advance as well so they stay alive in 2 cups over the winter.
Playing in Stuttgart though is next to Leverkusen the hardest team they could meet in this round so my confidence level is not so high. Dortmund though is always good for a surprise ( as well as for a disappointment  :'( ) .

VfB Stuttgart Vs Borussia Dortmund

Today at the MHPArena, the match between Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16 of the DFB-Pokal is set to be an exciting one. Both the teams have come in good form. Stuttgart will be looking to build on their recent win over Dortmund in the Bundesliga and continue their strong form at home. Dortmund, on the other hand, will be keen to avenge their previous defeat to Stuttgart and continue their good run in the DFB-Pokal. They will be favorites to win given Stuttgart's recent Bundesliga form and their strong performance against Dortmund in their last meeting. However, Dortmund are determined to turn the tables and secure a win. I predict that Stuttgart should be an exciting encounter with a narrow win ensuring the next round. My Prediction: Stuttgart 3-2 Borussia Dortmund.

Kaiserslautern performance was quite impressive especially judging from the ups and downs the team generally have been through, Changing the coach of a team especially halfway into the season could change the team’s performance generally either way but this side has made that change affect them positively and gained points were it mattered.

 Dortmund will go through when they face Stuggart, though this match could give them some worries but they are going to come out top of this encounter and I’m so confident of that especially with the way they played Leverkusen, therefore facing Stuttgart wouldn't be very difficult for them even though Stuttgart would try to make it tough in the 1st 20-30 mins of the game.

Xavi Alonso has been doing a fantastic job at Bayern Leverkusen. They're the only team in Europe yet to test defeat this season and tonight they will be locking horns with Paderborn in the round 16 of the DFB pokal cup. The cup has produced some shocking results but I do not really expect much resistance from Paderborn. Some first team players have been sidelined but I still expect the fielded players to get the job done. With Bayern Munich knocked out of the competition, they're one of the favourites to lift the trophy. A victory at Bay Arena would ensure that they're one step closer to their target.

Both team have good performed in domestic league, Dortmund success get draw from bayern leverkusen and stuttgart are in the top third standings in domestic league. Excited if both team will play with main players and not rotation yet for getting one place to quarter final round. In bundesliga match, Stuttgart won over 2-1 from Dortmund and your predicting seems accurate with Stuttgart will win DFB Pokal match to get one ticket in quarter final round.
Borussia Mönchengladbach is first teams qualified to quarter final of DFB Pokal round after beating Wolfsburg last night 1-0 and match extend until extra time, crucial for Mönchengladbach scored on 120th minutes by Manu Kone, now waiting several DFB Pokal matches result have Leverkusen, Frankfurt and Hamburger SV.

This game is tough to have a clear opinion on, but in one of the pools I am playing I went with Stuttgart to qualify for the next round. I don't know, but in all the top matches that Dortmund played, it is like they are paralyzed in some parts of the game. It is not the highly agile, high pressing and fast counter attack team that they used to be some time ago. Haaland missing certainly makes a difference and Stuttgart is fun to watch because you can see how they enjoy every minute of the game no matter what opponent is waiting on the other side. Dortmund got lucky a few times and my guess here is that without luck in this game, the DFB Cup will end for them tonight.

i think there is a lot of speculation in dortmund now. of the 8 teams in the quarter finals only 3 teams are from the 1st bundesliga .

Now my hope is that we won't see Stuttgart - Leverkusen in the next round. That would be a bummer for the competition and all the rounds to come.

But there we go, Hamburg made the next miracle happen for their fans and conceded two goals in the last minute of regular time and overtime, respectively! :D I am sure it must feel great to be a Hamburg fan.

The goal against them in minute 120' was a huge evil pill to swallow for them. Off to new adventures in the 2. Bundesliga :P

Back in the 1st league all they had to show for for years was the fact that they never got relegated to the 2nd league. Thank god at some point that ended and their last resort was crushed, haha. I am such a hater.

Well yeah, Stuttgart vs Leverkusen would be really shitty for the competition. On the other hand, wouldn't it be funny to see a 2nd tier team go to the final and maybe even win the cup?  ;D
Who would have though we wouldn't see Bayern, Dortmund and/or Leipzig in the final 8 this year. As the saying goes, anything can happen in the cup.

Dortmund and Stuggart in recent times have both performed excellently well and it’s going to be a tough one when both teams meet each other. I don’t think there’ll be any rotation because both teams see this match as quite important so as to get to the quarterfinals, however Dortmund played very brilliantly but too bad they could keep up defending Stuttgart's skipper, Guirassy from scoring the opener.

 Stuggart came out top of this encounter though with a 2-0 margin which they worked hard for because the match was pretty even in terms of possession and statistics, Mochengladbach came to get win at extra time and joined some big German teams in the Quarter finals of the DFB Pokal, congrats to Stuttgart and Mönchengladbach for qualifying for the next round.

Regarding Hamburg, yes I thought the same when it became annoying to see them fight against the relegation zone for several seasons and now they literally mirror the whole thing but fight vainly for the promotion into the 1. Bundesliga... Hamburg has meme potential because, I don't know the exact number, but I think they finished 4th like four or five times? They have so much potential and investors like many other clubs don't and yet they are only good at wasting and messing up things.

Sure the David vs. Goliath kind of game can be interesting, but still I prefer some great names in the final. It is exciting when Saarbrucken kicks out Bayern and now Frankfurt and, well, if I think about it maybe Saarbrucken would be fun to watch in the final. But I am afraid sometimes that the final is like 4-0 after 25 minutes and that is not that entertaining.

I still very disappointed with Eintracht Frankfurt in yesterday match against Saarbrucken, who doesn't know which league they come from in Germany. What's worse, Eintracht Frankfurt played only with 10 players because they got a red card, at least my parlay bet lost just because I included Eintracht Frankfurt too. I think Eintracht Frankfurt will still play well in this match, because in the Bundesliga at least Eintracht Frankfurt is not bad at all. So yes, I put my trust in Eintracht Frankfurt to win, but in reality Eintracht Frankfurt actually lost with a score of 2-0 and Eintracht Frankfurt played badly in this match.

Hamburg is one team who seems just like Everton in the EPL, season in and out they battle relegation but unlike Everton they were finally relegated. Now as a top team, finding a way back to top flight, Bundesliga shouldn’t be much a task but we see them messing up things at final stages. What’s the problem, the players or the coach?

 I think this team needs just few additions and the team will be back to German top flight sooner than expected. Saarbucken has now kicked out 2 top German teams and are now in the Quater Finals, I don’t think they’ll go beyond this phase but if they do par adventure, it would be a delight to watch but teams like Stuggart and Bayern Leverkusen are now favorites to win this competition.

This is what I did not want to see to be honest, Leverkusen against Stuttgart comes too early. But whatever, I am so curious to see how far Saarbrücken can make it in this DFB Cup season. It's impressive what they are doing. I don't know when it was the last time that a 3. Bundesliga club eliminated two 1. Bundesliga clubs in a row, including Bayern! :D There is no need for them to hide at all now against Mönchengladbach. What was so impressive against Frankfurt was that they were playing quite on eye-level most of the time. Maybe a little fairytale is underway here. ;)

Saarbrücken has shown a lot of surprises so far and it will be interesting to see whether they can make another surprise against Mönchengladbach. They are certainly capable of it.

Leverkusen vs. Stuttgart is a top match, just like in the Bundesliga 1. If Mönchengladbach will not win, then only one club from Bundesliga 1 would still be in the DFB Cup. So there are more chances for the little ones to win the DFB Cup.

i can't remember that there have ever been so few bundesliga clubs . 8 teams and only 3 from the 1st bundesliga .
i think that leverkusen and st. pauli have quite good chances to reach the final. but you have to wait a little bit for the results of the
quarter-finals and then the draw for the semi-finals. maybe there will even be a surprise in the final which nobody is expecting today

This is awesome. One game I'll be looking forward to is the Bayern Leverkusen vs Stuttgart match. They're having a fantastic domestic campaign this season, both occupying first and third positions on the Bundesliga and their encounter two days ago ended in a stalemate. A rematch in the DFK Pokal trophy quarter finals would prove who's superior. I've a feeling that whoever scales through out of this meeting would go on to lift the trophy, but time will tell.

Are we tired of surprises? Not yet, we watch top performance, we continue to witnessed it in every matches and either play according to the system or we play prior to our formulation concerning the system. Germany DFB Cup are for competitive clubs, actually topping with good points earned. We know the club's that will reach final rounds and the ones that will be sharply eliminated from the main tournaments. Bayer Leverkusen have proven to be the top club to reach crucial stages this season in almost all tournaments they featured in.

I guess the teams marked with green colours are the strong you feel would qualify against the others, well it gives me joy to see that Leverkusen is still in this tournament, Bayern Munich is supposed to be here but surprisingly they got kicked out by a mediocre team that's not even in the Bundesliga, too shamefully, well I'm vouching for Leverkusen to win Stuttgart and qualify for the next round if possible reach the finals and win the DFB Cup for 2023/24 season.

 Leverkusen are currently doing well in all tournaments they're participating in currently and I hope they win a trophy or two out of the three they're currently in, Xabi Alonso's team have really tried this season, they're no doubt the best in the Bundesliga for their performance and consistency and I hope they get rewarded with a trophy for their good effort even though they end up bottling the league like Dortmund did but atleast winning the DFB  or Europa league or winning both trophies would be okay.

I checked the odds and the bookmakers have obviously noticed that Saarbrücken is no joke this DFB Cup season. They are giving around 3.85 for a Saarbrücken win. If it was a bit higher I might have considered a small bet, but this is too low. It is still about 7 weeks to go until then and we will see in what shape Gladbach will be, but it is actually quite irrelevant as beating Bayern and Frankfurt was enough of a statement I guess ;)

First, I didn't highlighted or picked the favourites to make it to the next round of the competition, Soonandwaite did. Secondly, I was neutral on my position on who will scale through of the encounter between Bayern Leverkusen and Stuttgart. However, I really hope it's Leverkusen, because I'm a huge fan of Xavi Alonso. He's doing a remarkable job, last season Leverkusen finished sixth position and this season, they're currently on top of the table and the only team in europe that's unbeaten. I hope I'm wrong, but I feel the Bundesliga trophy is out of their reach right now, winning the DFK Portal Cup would be a huge success.

A lot can still happen in seven weeks and the performance of many teams are often changes during the winter break.  Mönchengladbach and Saarbrücken are both in the midfield of their respective tables. Mönchengladbach in Bundesliga 1 and Saarbrücken in Bundesliga 3. Saarbrücken has come a long way in the DFB Cup. I am curious to see what the odds will be at matchday.

Saarbucken have made a statement in their win against Frankfurt and Bayern and these are 2 strong teams of the German Top Flight League. Yes, they’ll sure be given higher odds considering the league they play in which is no close to the top flight league and they play against a Gladbach who could cause an upset for bigger teams in the top flight. I think in this match, Saarbucken have no hopes at all, except things go in their favour few weeks before matchday.

 Saarbucken and Mochengladbach are both having same game play and style but in football the better and intelligent team wins which I think will be Mönchengladbach, well let me not conclude cause in football anything is possible, If they could eliminate the mighty Bayern Munich from the tournament then their a possibility of them doing same to Gladbach.

The DFB has now announced the dates for the last 8 teams (the quarter-final):

- Tuesday, 30. January 2024: FC St. Pauli vs. Düsseldorf
- Wednesday, 31. January 2024: Hertha Berlin vs. Kaiserslautern 
- Tuesday, 06. February 2024: Leverkusen vs. Stuttgart
- Wednesday, 07 February 2024: Saarbrücken vs. Mönchengladbach

With the exception of the second match between Hertha Berlin and Kaiserslautern all other 3 matches will be seen on free TV.

and what's your opinion ! will a team from the 2.bundesliga reach the final in berlin ? maybe even hertha bsc berlin ?
hertha bsc berlin now have a home game against kaiserslautern. if they win that and have a bit of luck and are drawn for another home game it could be possible .
a great final would of course be hertha bsc berlin against st. pauli . but i think that leverkusen will reach the cup final this year and win the dfb cup in the end.
leverkusen is the best team in german football so far. if the performance is right next year too, winning the dfb cup is possible. finally a title for vizekusen 1

Leverkusen are definitely in good shape and considering their performance in the Bundesliga, they are definitely favourites for the DFB Cup. But there are always surprises in the DFB Cup.
The teams will have their winter break first. Then we will see in which shape they will start in the second half of the season. That is why I am not going to make any predictions just yet. Only a few days before.

Football has taught me that nothing is impossible, so yeah, a team from the Bundesliga 2 could pull some surprise and make it to the final. However, I think it's the end of the road for Saarbrücken (Bundesliga 3), they've knocked out two Bundesliga team already; Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt and their encounter with Mönchengladbach would make it the third Bundesliga team in this campaign. Based on the home side victory over the Bundesliga heavyweights, I think Mönchengladbach will approach the game more cautiously by fielding their first team players and they'll do everything they can to make it to the last four.

I wish Leverkusen and Stuttgart didn't have a draw against each other in the quarter finals already. Because they are the strongest teams among the teams left in the DFB Pokal cup. There is Gladbach also of course but the rest of the teams are lower tier teams which aren't even in the Bundesliga. Therefore the cup could be quite interesting this season.

I think Leverkusen would take advantage of their playing home and eliminate Stuttgart. But maybe it might not happen in 90 minutes. We might watch penalty shootouts also.

Saarbrucken look like a dangerous team in the cup now. Because they have eliminated 2 big teams like Bayern Munich and Frankfurt.

I like that. The DFB Cup is also a Cup where small clubs can go far.


Leverkusen, Stuttgart and Mönchengladbach are in Bundesliga 1, while St Pauli, Düsseldorf, Hertha Berlin and Kaiserslautern play in Bundesliga 2 and have already all played in Bundesliga 1. So I do not see them as lower tier teams. St. Pauli, for example, are at place 2 and have yet not lose a game.


And for me Bayern Munich and Frankfurt are stronger opponents than Mönchengladbach.So I could imagine a surprise again.

The DFB draw is out and yes from the fixtures, it seems as if Leverkusen are the only teams with greater percentage of chance of winning the cup. In the domestic league, they're doing exclusively beyond just an average performance. Even though they're drawn to go against Stuttgart who are also at the top spot on the league table, the game may be tough but Leverkusen's performance still keeps them out.

 Another fixture that may be tough will be Monchengladbach against Saarbrucken. These two sides aren't so good but they're good. For Saarbrucken, they defeated Munich to stay in the competition, so definitely their confidence and hopes for advancement are high and for the former, they're a good side, still a threat to team's too, the qualifiers may be known but we'd conclude after every result for these fixtures are out.

The first quarter-final match in the DFB Cup begins today. St Pauli against Düsseldorf. They have already played against each other in the Bundesliga 2 three days ago. St Pauli won 2:1 in Düsseldorf. They showed a good performance there. Now Düsseldorf can take revenge. It will definitely be a match of equals. However, both teams have had little time to recover.
The second quarter-final match between Hertha Berlin and Kaiserslautern will take place tomorrow then.

Bayern Munich have the most titles here by far but they don't look they care about the cup much in the recent years. They have been eliminated by really weak teams as well. This is helping us see some different champions at the same time though.  ;D  The last champion Leipzig said goodbye early this time in last 32 stage.

It is like an early finale to me considering the quality of the teams left. There is one leg and it is going to be played at BayArena. These all pointing towards a Leverkusen win I think. By the way only 3 out of 8 teams left are Bundesliga ones. If we see a surprise winner in the cup it would be unforgettable in its history.  :)

All cups are important to a big club like Bayern Munich, so I want to believe they gave their all but things didn't just go their way.

During last weekend's game against Monchengladbach, I think Xaxi Alonso dropped some key players so that he can have fresh legs for this match because this is a big shot at a silverware this season. There are no new injuries aside the old ones that are recuperating and according to the information from the medical team, Frimpong should be back in few days but I don't know if he'll be ready for this game. I see them as favourite in making it into the semis.

Düsseldorf won the quarter-final between St. Pauli and Düsseldorf. The game was pretty boring because both teams waited for the other to make mistakes. As a result both goals between the 90 minutes were only scored from penalties. Düsseldorf led in extra time and St. Pauli made it into the penalty shoot-out with the very last chance in minute 120. But they lost that.
So I cannot say that the better team won. It was the team that was better at doing penalties.

Hertha Berlin have been knocked out from the DFB Cup. They lost 1:3 against Kaiserslautern in their own stadium. Kaiserslautern now have the opportunity to play in the final in the Olympiastadion again.
Kaiserslautern deserved to win this match. But it was also a very boring game in many phases in the first half.
The other two quarter-final matches will take places next week.

This year's DFC cup really is special.
I don't think there have ever been 4 2nd league and 1 3rd league team in the final 8. And since the 4 2nd league teams played each other yesterday maybe there have never been 2 semi finalists from that league as well.
Would be so funny if one of those 2nd league teams would get a spot in a European cup next season.
Still a lot has to happen for this to come true but only having a chance is big.

I am not a fan of Kaiserslautern but I am a fan of teams with a long tradition in German football, and FCK is one of those teams for sure.

Unlucky for Leverkusen & Stuttgart they are facing each other. Every other team would have been some kind of a "walk in the park" but since Stuttgart is one of the top teams this year and Leverkusen is still unbeaten in German football this is the early final in this year's cup.

a meeting that is too early, because the remaining strong teams are only leverkusen and stutgart. whoever wins the leverkusen vs stutgart match will become the dfb pokal champion. one more is still moenchengladbargh. my prediction is that leverkusen can win the match against stutgart even though the match will run very tightly.

Tonight is the top game and the quarter-final match number 3 between Leverkusen and Stuttgart and many would have liked to watch this match in the final. Both teams won their last game in the Bundesliga. I hope it will be an exciting game. Maybe we will even see a penalty shootout. After that, there will only be one team left from Bundesliga 1. Exciting DFB Cup this year.

To be honest, I also don't have a definite choice about which team will win this match because yes, at least Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart are still in a good trend so far. Also, regarding the results they have in head to head this season, in fact the match between them in the Bundesliga also ended in a draw. However, because this match will be played at BayArena, Bayer Leverkusen's home ground then yes, perhaps the factor of playing at home will make Bayer Leverkusen succeed in winning and advancing to the semifinals.

yes. something like that really only happens very rarely . i think that leverkusen will win the match today with 3:1 or 4:1 . they have more quality in the team and xavi will make the team really hot . so leverkusen can at least win a title . because german champion will certainly be fc bayern munich again like every year . and vizekusen won't make it again .

Ideally, the quarter final match between Leverkusen versus Stuttgart would be better to just take place in the final. However, this is the start for Leverkusen to increase their chances of winning a trophy, clearly the Bundesliga trophy is much more difficult to win because Bayern Munich will not let that happen easily. If Leverkusen manages to finish the match by beating Stuttgart, then it is almost certain that Xabi Alonso squad will win the DFB Pokal trophy this season. Because we see that the other remaining contestants are considered easy opponents, but that doesn't mean they can be underestimated.

On paper, I quite believe Leverkusen can beat Stuttgart, and continue their positive trend of being unbeaten in the various competitions they have participated in this season. Even though the goal margin not reach 3, I don't think it's a big problem, the important thing is that they can advance to the semifinals, that's enough. The lineup has been confirmed, and we will see whether the predictions will be completely correct, or even if Leverkusen will suffer their first defeat of the season.

Leverkusen : Stuttgart 3:2

wooow. that was a very exciting match tonight. stuttgart played great and fought well. but it wasn't enough. in the end leverkusen won 3:2 and are now in the semi-finals.
tomorrow the last quarter-final match saarbrücken against mönchengladbach. maybe it will be a great match with lots of goals.

I've envisaged the week as a challenging one for Leverkusen, as they've two important games, today's game and Bayern in the Bundesliga. Xavi Alonso's men have just scaled through one of the hurdles by beating Stuttgart 3-2, taking the Die Werkself to the DFK porkal cup final in a goal thrilling encounter. Leverkusen fell behind twice but after cancelling Stuttgart's goal the second time, a goal from Tah in extra time of 90 min proved to be the decider.

this season leverkusen is doing very well, they are at the top of the table in the bundesliga and have not had any defeats, and they are also doing very well in the Germany DFB Cup, in this game against Stuttgart, it was a game in which leverkusen started losing, after 11 minutes they conceded a goal and the game ended the 1 half with Stuttgar's victory, one could even think that Stuttgart could come out with victory in that game, but in the 2 half Leverkusen came in better and managed to score a goal from a very early draw, but Leverkusen's party only lasted 8 minutes because Stuttgart scored a goal in the 58th minute and with that they took an advantage in the game, but something funny happened after that, and Leverkusen scored a goal 8 minutes after conceding too and with that the game was tied

and when I thought the game would end in a draw, Leverkusen managed to score the third goal and with that they won the game, I see Leverkusen conceding a lot of goals in this cup, but they have also managed to score a lot of goals, if Leverkusen reaches the final I see them being champion. Because to be honest, I don't see the other teams in this competition being strong enough to beat Leverkusen. That's why in my opinion Leverkusen will be the champion of this cup, Leverkusen's next game will be against Bayern in a Bundesliga game, a very important game for Leverkusen and if they win they could this season win this cup and win the Bundesliga

Stuttgart played a great game. They were ahead twice, but Leverkusen made a coming back. I would have liked to have seen extra time. Leverkusen would probably have played more offensively and Stuttgart would have waited for counterattacks. But Leverkusens goal in the last minute opened the door to the final wide open.
Tonight there will be the quarter-final match number 4 between Saarbrücken and Mönchengladbach.

Yeah it was the expected "final" in the quarterfinal phase. Both teams deserved to win but Leverkusen had the final punch.
Now the road for the title is wide open for them considering the rest of the teams in the cup.
Worst case scenario they can face Mönchengladbach in the semis or the final, the rest is 2nd and 3rd tier teams.

But of course it's always tricky when everyone expects you to win it now. We have seen plenty of surprises in the cup this year, maybe there is gonna be a final one waiting for us as well.

Wow. Saarbrücken is still in the DFB Cup. Who would have thought that? Joking aside. No quarter-final match in Saarbrücken due to the weathercondition. Too much rain made the pitch too wet. The players of both teams had already warmed up, all the fans were on their place despite the rain and 8 minutes before kick-off the match was cancelled. Very disappointing for the fans. The cancellation could have been announced earlier.

Its so amazing with third Bundesliga competition team Saarbrücken still in DFB Pokal quarter final round, their achievement lead until quarter final so excited from second round eliminated favorite team Bayern Munich and 16 of round another Bundesliga team Frankfurt have been eliminated. Current schedule seems has postponed match in quarter final for Saarbrücken vs Gladbach but regarding their result success eliminating top Bundesliga teams seems optimistic for quarter final will eliminate Gladbach.

Unbelievable with DFB Pokal cup quarter final matches result, there are have Bundesliga 2 team Fortuna Düsseldorf have qualified to semifinal round and FC Kaiserslautern get one spot in semifinal after eliminating Hertha Berlin. Right now only one Bundesliga team have qualified to semifinal is Bayern Leverkusen and seems favorable team become the winner DFB Pokal Cup season 2023/24.

the club from the 3rd league fc saarbrücken defeated the bundesliga club bor. mönchengladbach 2-1 today and continue their fairytale in this cup competition. the winning goal to 2-1 was scored in the 90+3 minute

Well, as the saying goes, the Pokal writes it's own stories.
Normally I don't really follow the DFB cup because often enough it's a snooze fest with always the often the same teams going to the last 8 or 4, but this year we have seen so many surprises, it's refreshing.

Saarbrücken alone, as a 3rd tier team, has kicked out 3 teams from the 1st Bundesliga, that's quite impressive. Especially because one of them was FC Bayern Munich.

Now they face Kaiserslautern from the 2nd Bundesliga, which is also not impossible. Actually it's the easiest draw in the past 4 rounds, haha.

honestly ! i am amazed by the team from saarbrücken . the team surprises me again and again . first saarbrücken wins against karlsruhe . that was no sensation .
in the second round then the huge sensation .... saarbrücken wins with 2:1 against bayern münchen. then comes the eighth final and another sensation :
saarbrücken wins against eintracht frankfurt with 2:0 . but that's not the end ! yesterday in the quarter final saarbrücken wins again with 2:1 against mönchengladbach !
and does it go on ? in the semi-final saarbrücken meets kaiserslautern ! if they also win this match the team goes to berlin  ;)

Great game from Saarbrücken. They did not give up and the rain brought them luck. Unfortunately, it was not a great game to watch because of the rain. The ball sudenly stopped very often on the water and it cost the players a lot of energy. Kaiserslautern must be careful in the semi-final. Saarbrücken have built up more and more confidence and maybe they will even make it to the final.

The first semi-final of the DFB Cup begins today. Saarbrücken and Kaiserslautern are the first teams to fight for the place in the final. For Saarbrücken it is the first match after the Easter break. The last game was 2 1/1 weeks ago. They are at place 11 in League 3 and will neither be relegated nor promoted. Kaiserslautern already played at the weekend and lost the game. They are at palce 16 in Bundesliga 2 and therefore at a relegation place. But the DFB Cup has it own laws and the performance in the league does not matter often.

Their previous matches have occurred several times and in the head-to-head record it is clear that Kaiserslautern is superior by achieving 3 wins, for this semifinal match I still quite confident that Kaiserslautern can win again over Saarbrucken.
Looking at the quality of performance of the two, it can also be concluded that Kaiserslautern has more stable quality of performance than Saarbrucken, although quality in the league is often not problem, but the strength of playing performance can be the basis for an appropriate assessment.

In the other semifinal match, it is also clear that Leverkusen has an advantage over its opponent Dusseldorf, who is currently in 3rd place in Bundesliga 2.
This will be an easy match for Leverkusen to win and advance to the final round in the fight for the DFB Cup title.
When the final brings together Kaiserslautern vs Leverkusen, I will make Leverkusen the favorite to win this competition.

Well normally I would be for Saarbrücken since I am always siding with the "underdog" but since my father in law is a big time Kaiserslautern supporter that's where my hope will go, haha.
Saarbrücken had an amazing run, kicking out 1. devision teams back to back to back is already a big accomplishment, but Bayern Munich being one of these teams is even more amazing.

I guess we all expect the other match to show Leverkusen as the winner. If they can manage this they will not only be German league champions for the very first time but also winning the double. Who would have expected this before the season started.

But hey, it's the cup, there is always a big surprise around the corner. Why not Leverkusen losing the semi final or even the final?
Sure it would be a huge surprise and somewhat of a disappointment for Leverkusen if that would happen but the win of the championship is the far bigger success!

DFB Pokal Semifinal : FC Saarbrücken vs FC Kaiserslautern

The team full of surprises FC Saarbrücken will play in the first match of the DFB Pokal Cup semi-final against FC Kaiserslautern which is Bundesliga 2 team and interested to see will the Bundesliga 3 teams FC Saarbrücken will lead to final and make history as the first third level competition teams success managing until final round. So interested with FC Saarbrücken achievement lead until semifinal round because success defeating all Bundesliga teams participants since second round beaten Bayern Munich, on 16 of round defeating Frankfurt until at the quarter final round defeating Gladbach.
Seems FC Saarbrücken not get problem since second round until quarter final eliminating Bundesliga team and easily for eliminating the Bundesliga 2 teams FC Kaiserslautern on semifinal round.

Congratulations to Kaiserslautern and Congratulations to Saarbrücken. Due to two mistakes from Saarbrücken in the second half Kaiserslautern scored two goals. Saarbrücken were more active in the first half and they also defended very well. Kaiserslautern had very few chances. Even after the 1:0 Saarbrücken were better, but after the 2:0 it was clear that Saarbrücken would have no chance any more.

Congrats to Kaiserslautern on reaching the final phase! However I'm afraid this is most probably the end of the road for them.  :(  It is still a great achievement to reach this phase though.

Today Leverkusen will finish off Dusseldorf as long as we don't come across a huge surprise. Xabi Alonso is hungry for titles this season which is obvious. I don't expect a big rotation here even though they have a Bundesliga match in a couple of days. They are already comfortable there. I'm just expecting Leverkusen to reach final and win the DFB Pokal trophy after that. I already see 2 trophies in hand for Xabi Alonso together with the Bundesliga one.  :)

Leverkusen are the favorite in this match and also in the final. Unless something unforeseen happens, they will end the season with two titles. I am curious to see how Düsseldorf will play and whether they will be a difficult opponent. Will they play with a lot of pressure from the start on or will they concentrate for on the defence and waiting for chances?
Both teams will take a lot of momentum from their last game and Düsseldorf are on their way to being promoted to Bundesliga 1. They have nothing to hide. But the difference between the two teams will still be visible.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen - Fortuna Dusseldorf

This is the final that all German football fans have been waiting for because the DFB Cup is one of the most important competitions besides the Bundesliga.
Leverkusen managed to qualify for the final after beating Fortuna Dusseldorf and Kaiserslautern managed to qualify for the final after beating Saarbrucken and in this final it was clear that Leverkusen was the favorite to win the DFB Cup title.
Kaiserslautern itself is team that is currently playing in the Bundesliga 2 competition and they are one of the team in the lower level, but their performance in this competition is quite interesting and not as bad as when they were in Bundesliga 2.
This is match that is certainly easy for Leverkusen as Bundesliga champions this season, it is certain that Kaiserslautern will not be able to put up quite fierce fight considering that Leverkusen is still in stable condition.

The performance from Kaiserslautern in Bundesliga 2 is completely different than in the DFB Cup. That is why the saying goes: the cup has its own laws. I do not think anyone expected the progress so far. After Xabi Alonso started at Leverkusen, they were at place 17 in the table. At the end of that season they were at place 6 and that was already a great achievement. This season, however, they have shown right from the start that they want and can do more. Xabi and the whole team have done a really great job. But they are still hungry for much more.

You are right and it is very clear that Kaiserslautern performance in Bundesliga 2 and the DFB Cup is very different, here Kaiserslautern has really succeeded in beating many teams that are far above them to be able to enter the final like now.
For their Bundesliga 2 position, they are really uncomfortable because there is pressure to be able to complete it to have much better position with the remaining matches.
This is clearly not an easy thing for Kaiserslautern but on the other hand they also have to prepare their performance for the final match, even though it is impossible for Kaiserslautern to beat Leverkusen but at least they are strong team here.

Who knows what will happen later for Kaiserslautern in Bundesliga 2 but the important preparation is this final match and they must be able to focus, at least to be able to provide tough resistance to Leverkusen.

Sure, the cup is prestigious, and also comes with a cash prize, but being relegated to the 3rd league would cost Kaiserslautern MUCH more money than what they will get for a cup win. Once you go down it's hard to get back up immediately cause many player's contract isn't for the 3rd league. So there will be a rebuilt with cheaper players because of less TV earnings, less advertisement money and so on.

And let's be fair, their chances of winning are so small, it would be wise to focus 100% on the league games before having their mind anywhere else. Doesn't mean they can't win, 1% chance is still a chance.  ;D
