Hello my fellow Naija people, I hail wuna all. Na good thing say we get local board and another good thing be say we want make e dey clean of all spams and low quality posts from newbies too. As I check around the forum for other local boards, I see say all the ones wey I check, dem get sticky posts wey dey guide newbies wey just join them and e dey really help them to make their post there free of low quality and free of spam. As I join our local board, I no see any of the posts wey dey sticky to guide newbies well wey just join the local board like me. And as I still go through the board, I see say some high ranked members here don drop topics wey go guide the newbies for here well. Na some of the posts wey I find say dem go really help newbies for the local board and encourage them be this. If the posts dey sticky, e go better pass.

Aside from dis one, dey fit get others wey go really help newbies wey I no capture for this my topic. I no know whether anyone go dey again wey go for add to the list. Na my humble suggestion be dis for our local board.

Only moderators can pin a thread, and currently there's no moderator for the Niaji local board; if not, there would have been some pined threads like the ones you suggested above. With time, the local board will have a moderator assigned by theymos, and after that, some pins will exist. For the main time, users (newbies and low ranks) can still easily come across most of these useful threads since the board has not yet been very bulky like others.

Very correct ma broda but me watin even dey boder me sef na this exquisite use of English for we local board instead of concrete use of broken or pidgen English. This thing just tire me because I dey see other local board wey na only native tongue them dey use while our own just dey different maybe we too Sabi speak English or watin sef.

OP your talk go well but the matter be say naa only moderator for do wetin you dey talk about just as bitcoin_strange talk. See as it stands now, Naija local board no get any moderator for this platform so na so why you see say things just be as e be here.  I believe say na gradual process as we dey wait for Theymos to give us our.moderator and merit source so that we go gidibam for platform here make we dey jolly as we see am but I know say when we get wetin we want for this platform the coordination will be handled

Op weti u tok e no bad but dis your thread sef na spamming thread because there are other threads wey don tok dis matter for plenty times, even the ones you mentioned above discussed what u dey try to tok, weti I dey try to tok be sae, u for make comments on those topics. Though what you dey try to tok e good. There is time for everything, so time is coming for us to have all those things. And for now we need moderators and merit sources and with those everything in the local board go dey okay.

Well, about that, from my search, Nigeria has about 525 native spoken languages, and if there's use of those languages in the local board, there are going to be so many subboards for those languages. Secondly, there are some of us here who can't write in pidgin English, like myself. I think there are also a few people here who are not Nigerians, but because there's still the use of English in the local board, that's why they are active here, maybe because they can't write In their local language. For me, I don't think it's bad, but if you want to get the opinion of others, then you can start a new topic about that.  ;)

All that we need is time. Even without a moderator, we are going to have some threads that would be pinned. Although, if we have a moderator it would have been easier. But there are local boards that have no moderator but have pinned threads. The question is, have you people requested theymos to pin any thread before? No.

Is Pidgin your native language? No. What that made us a nation is English.

How do we play our part in that? Do we need to send him a PM or there is a thread where we can request for something from him for our local board?

Yes, one of the reputed members like CryptopreneurBrainboss can do it. Everything that we need to pin can all be discussed and be given Brainboss to tell theymos to pin it.

If with what Charles-Tim commented above, then we don’t need to wait to have a moderator before we can get our important topics pinned to the board. If there’s a sticky post that can guide the newbies coming to the local board, it’ll help in controlling spamming and low quality posts. Even with merit sources been approved, we need to still have posts of great quality before they can give those posts merits. Just like the merit sources, moderators are important, so is the sticky post because our newbies will find our rules here more easier to guide them and ask questions here than the general board.


It’ll be a good thing for the board generally if we have them just like you suggested it to be done. There was a time a thread was created on this local board by  Hyphen(-) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5437906.msg61701497#msg61701497) about some newbies getting permanent ban from the forum, which most of them at that time were all from this local board. We want more people in the local board to make our board more active and interactive, for them to know more and learn about bitcoin through here.

Enough of this language thing abeg. The Indian local board uses English and Hindi and I've contributed to discussion there a few times. Local board nobe secret cult na   ;D

Danny my brother no dey bother yourself again, nothing serious for the matter again as long as say we don get our local board. When the thing been dey fear me na when we no get local board make theymos for say, since na English dem deh use, no need for local board. But since God don help we get local board and our activity never reduce, nobody go fit collect our local board back. So, relax and enjoy the local board.

For me, 90% time wey I enter here, na pigin I dey knack and e go help make any bother wey visit my profile know the difference and more.

Nor be lie you tok all this thread supposed dey pinned make everybody dey see am, I don comment before for these threads nai make e dey easy me to find them without stress. E go help the jjc wey just come here for the first time to know their ground make them fit coordinate themselves well. As we never fit pin am na to dey bump the thread once once make e for dey top.

Bro no issues I don get all the advice and I don come to reason am too, like watin our boss man igebotz talk "local board no be secret cult" just that the matter bin just dey tire with all the recent happenings for the board wey come leave people to dey point fingers, I know if you go fit relate to watin I mean. But all the same our local board dey grow and na everyday person dey learn so I don die the matter like this and I thank everyone for their tirelessly efforts anf with time all Dem  moderators and merit sources go fill we board yakata.

My broda man,no be the language wey you use write na e matter but wetin matter na for your contribution to help other people know one or two things. English or pidgin dey cool with every Nigerian and e no mean which of them you dey use write. At least I like the fact say na two language we get so that people ho fit use any one of their choice wey them fit flow easily with. As for the thread to dey pinned,if we son get moderator then we fit tell am to do that one for us,life na small small.

Maybe before all this could be finally settled the issue of moderator have to be first settled, then we have either sub boards or child boards for each category of discussion then we launch into having some coincise pinned threads being informative enough for people to learn, OP suggestion is not a bad idea but it has to go by order one after each other, i know very soon the board will still experience more increase than we have this time.

OP suggested something very important even though such cases has been discussed back then when we newly get our local board and the rate of spamming was about to get out of hand then; but all these things na just matter of time because e never tey we we get our own local board, so we need to calm down and get things slowly because we all know say we get mouth for this forum.

I know say our leaders for hear are taking the right decision to make sure we get the best thing we deserve so make we calm down things go surely come to Nigeria local board.

Hello, fellow members of this local bored. I would like to discuss a minor issue about our forum boredom.We applaud our older members for their earnest assistance with mentoring the forum newbies so they can also establish long-lasting connections there.We all deserve to be strong because if we can achieve our goals here, we will all be content. However, I believe that our leaders will desire what is best for us in our local bored.Since the senior members of these local bored are strong, we have to  require a strong contribution.

Excluding Igebotz posts about our local board rules, I no dey see reasons why other topics deserve to be pinned including my own or any other posts wey be say I dun write here or see here for this local board. If the beginners introduction dey dat important (which isn't necessary from my point of view) we fit input am into the local rules thread and we fit dey keep that thread active with newbies introduction and we interacting with them to help out. You suggestions comes with good faith but abeg wetin concern giveaway or quality review threads with been pinned. All those can end at anytime so no be wetin we suppose dey say deserve pinning.

If we wan pin post self e go be like an overview of every important topic wey we feel say dey important to newbies. Instead of separate thread, one thread holds the information and people can be redirected from that thread to the host thread of each of the information wey personal dey find. We no need dey like others, na uniqueness dey sell pass so that's how we should be and not going to copy every other local board we see. The one thread can always be updated by the person wey create am so we no go go back to dey beg for pinned post whenever another better information enter the board wey newbies supposed know and all this can go under the thread created by Igebotz (under the local board rules).

Na just my opinion sha be dis and all those suggesting me do something, you don't need my approval to carryout a community project which is what this board is about. Any ideas can be voted and passed by majority vote and sent to the authority to implement.

Weti you talk na true but we never get moderators to do dat work for now so until we get di moderators before day kind thing fit happen. And only the local board rules is needed to be pin because na im be di real guide for the local board. Though those other threads you mentioned e dey okay but they are not for pinning but they can be bump for newbies to see and and make comments. 

Language no be di problem for here for now. Di main thing we need to do now is to pin the guidelines thread, to get merit sources, and to get moderators in the local board. Those are di things we should ask for and not Language wey we dey use before even di board was created.

Me I don follow the talk them about our local board, from low quality post, to off topics,  to repetitive post them abs I come realise say those things them no dey abnormal. Na process wey every better thing dey follow. All those ones them must happen before we go achieve that quality wey we want for this our local board. So na small small we go get their, make una get patience small after all e never really tey as them create our local board. Make una no forget say no be one day them take build Rome, so I believe say we dey do well.

I concur to your opinion, I've already said it before in one of our thread here that most of our senior men here fumbled when they joined this forum newly and it took them time before they got accustomed to the industry, so the only thing we ought to do is to advise one another on the way to make things better in this local board rather than scolding ourselves when mistakes are being made here. Sometimes, some of our senior men here also does such mistakes of posting either off topic, shit post, low quality post and even post that doesn't pass good information about the forum.

Let's treat one another with love and unity as this is the only way to go because if we start reporting ourselves one after the other the forum will be divided and the local board might be banned. So if you see someone who isn't doing it right you give them guidance on the way to go rather than mocking them. We need each other to achieve some of our objectives in this local board like we are seeking for moderator(s) and even merit sources so we need a solid and unified environment in other to make this things work out.
