This has been one of the most common ways of getting access to one’s Wallet by phishing. All these airdrops and testnets like always requires you to connect your wallet to a particular site, some might have paid off in the past but most are definitely not worth the hassle. Do not connect your wallet to any website no matter how trust worthy they claim to be.

If at all you would like to engage in airdrops which you should know is no longer worth your time or risk anymore then I would suggest you use a different wallet entirely from your personal wallet where your coins are stored. If there is even a way to use a different device then kindly do that, because most of these sites instill malware like Clipboard Malware which would not only affect that particular wallet but also the entire wallets on that device

This is the risk of participating on all of those airdrops introduce to the public since we don't know if the owner want to launch a good project or they are just there want to scam people by those malware attach on their platform. Maybe for that we should create more dummy wallets so that we can avoid getting huge damage once we got penetrated by those scammers. We also need to avoid those airdrops which is obvious shady to lessen the chance that we will encounter those issues.

Why not avoid airdrops? I mean, they had decent value back in those days. However, I have read many negative reviews about them in recent times. There are some good airdrops, but they are not very frequent, and even when they do occur, they are generally valued at no more than $10 or $20. While they have a low initial worth, they might offer a good return in the long run. However, since most users pursuing airdrops are looking for instant redemption, waiting for the long run may be practical. In understanding, it is better to stay away from any airdrops, as there are multiple options available to obtain free tokens.

There's no free lunch.

Just avoid airdrop especially there's a token or NFT send into your address, don't click anything to receive, but just avoid or delete it. I have a wallet that also get send with this fake shitcoins or NFT, until now all of my coins are safe since I didn't click to receive it.

You can move this thread to altcoins discussion.

Airdrop is a hunting field for scammers, all airdrop hunters is also being hunted by the scammers. Researching for airdrop need much more effort then researching for investment. Anyone who doesn't have the time to be invested in researching Airdrop better just stay away for it. As my experience there is only 1-2 airdrops that actually worth some money in a year, the other will end up as shit coin, and most of them is scammer, take the actual investors money and just drop their project.

Ive seen a lot of nfts scattered on my wallet that I didnt signed up or joined. Obviously these are scam one that are sent by those thieves. I am frustrated with this since your wallet is being spammed by different nfts. Before only tokens that has funny names and literally scam tokens, now even nfts are being used. As lonh as your wallet is active these scammers will try to send frees to lure into a scam so better avoid that.

That's right, this is the most common way and also the easiest way for fraudsters to access our wallets. And I'm sure people who have been in this space for a long time are well aware of this style of fraud.
An airdrop hunter should always be careful when they are working on a task and are asked to connect their wallet through the link provided. Always use a new wallet to hunt airdrops, and to be honest I am also one of those people who occasionally follows airdrops and I also always use a new wallet or a wallet specifically for hunting airdrops.

Quite a cheeky way to make use of Trust Wallet features. The scammer exploits the NFTs display tab of the application to lure the users to get deceived within their own site. What on the first hand a good idea from the wallet developers, is utilised by someone to scam many cryptocurrency users.

This is a wake up call for any wallet developers to combat by what all of their could do to mitigate users getting deceived by what is possible in this space. It would be hard since the scam methods and schemes are ever-evolving, but to reduce users getting scammed/phished they should do something to educate basic security to make them safe. It is a good thing that they are aware of this scheme and have already informed their users.

First of all I would like to thanks to you for bringing this topic, because I think it will gives a notification to many beginners.
Now get into the point, this is not the first time that was happening Because this has been happening before. These types of scammers are increasing day by day as the cryptocurrency world  become larger. We have to be careful, initially when going to invest in all these types of investment things, he should first see if there is a beginner on the official website of those projects. As I see that you have taken the screenshot from the official Twitter page of Trust Wallet. In this case, this thing should be noted that you are following the official page of the project. Thus in every case the original sources must be followed, and we must prevent ourselves from being too greedy because in most cases greed pulls us to these things.

This isn't new and likely these airdrops are done automatically when  these malicious actors see if you're have an active wallet being involved on airdrops as well. Good thing crypto wallets these days have that feature to hide these lousy tokens on your wallet so always update it and exercise the necessary procedures to secure your wallet.

Same thing happened in my trust wallet. But I didn't understand one think, that somehow from the verified twitter account with having more followers of trust wallet, bnb etc. posts the fake and scam links. So, mostly people thought that the links are real but It is just a scam.

This is not limited to trust wallets, somehow they find our wallet, but I think the snapshot system in the smart contract can detect the last activity of the wallet and then sends this kind of NFT. For example, every wallet that has ever interacted for mint NFT on Opensea, I think smart contracts can do a snapshot of the transaction. Because, before I had NFT, I didn't have scam NFT as shared by OP, but now I received more than 5 of those scam NFTs. We can't do anything about it, we want to throw it away, we have to get it approved, and I'm worried that if I do that, then the smart contract will drain assets when I have a number of valuable tokens in my wallet. These scam NTF mostly sent from Polygon network.

I'd first like to thank the OP for writing this cautionary post. I often receive different types of fake tokens in my trust wallet. If we want to swap these tokens, our wallet is getting hacked. After that, the new trap started again through airdrop. We can't be too greedy and click on any links sent by strangers.

It's happening on everyone.

It's based smart-contract, each time you doing transaction on the chain then you will get a random (NFTs) after that. Always, never reaction anything to kind of asset you are not own (or randomly get from somewhere else).

It's just like spam token but the different with NFTs.

I used to be careless in storing different altcoins in my wallet before regardless of their legitimacy or value. I often joined different airdrops before not knowing that I could get hacked or scammed by clicking different links as part of the requirement to join them. Since I've heard from a friend that he has been a victim of fake altcoin and scam airdrop before, I've been really skeptical and I avoid joining untrusted airdrops as scamming and hacking might happen if we will be reckless.
We better avoid projects that we aren't sure about. We should do deep research to check the legitimacy of each airdrop that we're joining so we will not fall for scammers. We have to be wise or else we will surely fall for their trap.

Those that are into these NFTs and airdrops are the targeted people of these scams. It is because they're gullible and think that it's nothing to be aware of. But upon experiencing that, they'll get to learn the importance of being vigilant on matters like this. They shouldn't be easy to connect their wallets whether it is Trust Wallet or Metamask or any other wallets that's being used by these scammers to trick the users that are keeping up with the free money that they are following.
For the sake of the newbies which are most likely the victims of this type of scam, you need to be chill and researchful when you're checking out these airdrops.

I have joined some crypto based groups which are specifically airdrop hunters on facebook which they do really share up tons of airdrops and including that minting about those NFTs
which links are given which needs to be approved or be allowed and ending up on some users that stolen up their assets with their Metamask wallet which it is really that truly devastating.

Example is on this one
Someone Lost Millions Trying to Claim $2K Crypto Airdrop
https://www.cnet.com/personal-finance/someone-lost-millions-trying-to-claim-2k-crypto-airdrop/

In speaking about airdrops then its literally free, but clicking out random links in the internet is really just that a suicide things if ever you would tend to do so.
Dont make yourself that too careless because this would really be your demise.

The Trust Wallet team may be late in publishing this warning to their community. I have had NFTs for years, and I did not mint them and found them in my wallet without my intervention, The suspicious thing that made me stay away from them is that one of these NFTs can give me thousands of dollars by staking it on the scam site that appears in this NFT information on Opensea and for sure anyone who opens a scam site and deposits a certain amount of altcoins or stablecoins to get the stake rewards, will lose his funds and may lose all the available NFTs on his wallet, these NFTs are like scam pump and dump tokens that we find in our wallets and lose our money when we exchange or send it, or after purchasing more quantities of it, so any NFT or token that you found dormant in our wallet that we do not know its source, I recommend that ignore them completely without doing anything.

I'm not so techy when it comes to technicalities of how these digital thieves operate and how they attack users using advanced programming or something along that line, but a basic knowledge what are the phishing websites and how it works, would absolutely save yourself from these troubles in the future.
There are people who really want to participate in airdrops and free tokens/NFTs because there are these legit ones, but it should be done carefully by not using the same wallet and devices where your assets is stored. So, it does not really matter if the hackers will try to access what little information they got from you.

It's a very common way of scamming people, but HEY!!! it works because there will be, and will be ignorant investors, and beginners out there who are falling very easily into these kind of traps.
I mean if only, if only they research first before they decide anything that includes their investments, I guess the chances of them getting scammed will be lowered.

I guess it's good that I didn't scammed that much when I was a newbie because I'm very hesitant at that time, and because of being hesitant, I lost many opportunities as well that could've made me a millionaire. Kidding aside, this is a good awareness for those beginners out there that they should think twice or even thrice before joining into these kind of airdrops. I guess it would be better if they will just simply avoid airdrops at all in order for them to prevent getting scammed.

Perhaps they already who's their target and for sure, those greedy people will fall into their traps. Yes, indeed we all are aware of this dirty tactics but some people are still blind not to see behind those sweet promises. That is why we can't rid these scammers out from crypto space because as long as there are people who fall into their trap, they still remain active in here. Now, it was on our part to decide whether we are going to participate airdrops or just leave and ignore them.

I am expecting that people behind TrustWallet should be one step ahead of possible scam or intrusion into the secured wallet, otherwise this will make people really scared of using the services of the wallet. At any rate, we should always understand that there is no 100% safe platform in the crypto space as there are so many hackers and fraudsters dedicating their lives just to victimize others and get rich in the process. We should always be careful at all time...and take a time to consider whether an airdrop is really what it says it is or a gateway to hell.

I have never checked my wallets if I am airdropped with NFTs like that claiming that it is an “ETH voucher” or anything related to it. As a seasoned guy in the crypto and Web3 space especially encountering scams, I always do my due diligence and being very extra careful.

I just do not simply interact with those honeypot tokens as well as these suspicious “voucher” NFTs that appear in my Trust Wallet, etc. I’ll just leave it as it is and not gonna touch it anyways.

In the real word that should happen, but we all know that it's the other way around, hackers or scammers are always one step of the game here. And it seems that they are really doing a good job at casing and taking advantage of not just trust wallet, but any other crypto related things that they can get their hands and scam people of their hard earn money.

So yeah, the moral lesson here is just be careful and not to trust anyone here in this ecosystem. And everyone should know how to practice security hygiene, otherwise you will fell victim to this criminals.

Even if no action has been made by trust wallet owners still its up to the users discretion to avoid getting scam since they should think more before participating on any random airdrops. Newbie is their primary target so newbies should need to be more careful on what they are entering since losing money due to scam is commonly happen to them if they are not so careful picking airdrops posted anywhere.

Don't get surprise about it since there are people who cannot spend some amount of cash for investment that's why they go to those airdrops and try to earn some money with it. There are times that they can earn and there is not but what important is they show know the risk involve especially when a platform request to connect your wallet with them and ask permission to access your account since its really risky action to do.

Maybe building up on other matter especially for newbies will come later on once they learn more about crypto but on early stage its fine that they participate on airdrops so that they experience the risk and how to trade on many platforms thru the airdrops they gained.

This is really big problem and basically new of crypto market. A scam trap that often traps new crypto investments. Many people have lost their money due to this kind of scamming. In fact, everyone should know that there is no way to earn free money from crypto, so if they do that, they are definitely scammers. They will collect our private wallet key in various ways and later remove all the money.

Unfortunately there is not anything we can do about this, scammers know they can get away with this because on many countries cryptocurrencies are not even considered to be valuable assets, so a person living there could literally steal a lot of money all over the world and they will not be considered to be a criminal at all, but even if the laws changed as long as their scams remain on the low side they can keep scamming with impunity and get away with it.

Actually it's not really new, the fraud trap as described by the Op is a fairly common type of trap used by scammers, only the method of spreading is different. I who have been in the crypto space for a long time already know these types of pitfalls. They target new users who do not fully understand crypto and take advantage of their ignorance by sending traps. There is no such thing as free money from random people in crypto, they must be scammers. Free money only exists if we do a job like some of the recommended airdrops, because some airdrops are full of pitfalls. Remember that there will be no airdrop asking for your private wallet key, if they ask then they are definitely scammers.

Beginners beware of Airdrops that will redirect you to their website through the provided link around the shiny coins you see on your wallet, where you will be required to fill in informations in other to claim the reward, follow the instructions as provided above and avoid their website as it leads to scam if any information is provided.
This doesn't only happen in TrustWallet, you can find such scams on Twitter a lot and on Telegram as well, very rarely on Facebook as well. So almost all the social media platforms are covered by these scammers, they pay some money and run ads on their accounts they create on these social media platforms and then earn money by scamming people by luring them into their websites with fake promises of giving away NFTs and tokens and other valuable stuff.

Those who understand that there is a catch behind these will basically avoid them and move on, but newbies that don't have much experience actually think that they might get something from them and that is what makes them fall in their trap and then they regret after they have been scammed.

Airdrop hunters should be very aware of this since they don't use their eyes see something free like free airdrop rewards, I know its very hard to control but sometimes when they see airdrop is most irresistible to over look because they believed that something positive could likely come out of it without knowing they are risking themselves while try to join.
Most newbies are much familiar with trustwallet so they chooses to launched attack through trustwallet.

Scammers are experts at playing this game, they give all kind of promises about how valuable those NFTs will become on the future and people believe them because they want to think that making money can be as easily as being on the right place at the right time, so they take the risk thinking that if they do not act fast then someone else can get their spot and deny them what they consider to be rightfully theirs, only to discover at the end that not only they will not get any money but that they will lose the few assets they had on that wallet.

This is where greed comes in whenever someone is too desperate about making gain or profits look very well such person or people is about to lose huge amount of money since they allowed greed to enveloped them due to some silly sticker or pieces of arts as an NFTs. Is somehow suspicious seeing an airdrop tokens in their wallet without being applying for it and or just seeing a link of airdrop showing in their wallet and all they need is just to connect and claim airdrop, look very carefully there's something phishy and suspicious about such free rewards which as a normal person you could sense and perceived danger coming.

There are lots of different scams that is taking place and we need to be very careful and watchful so that we are not going to miss the updates that will prevent us from doing the wrong thing that will make us to lose funds due to our ignorances. I have received some of these airdrops before and I never bothered to click on any link that could direct to another website for no tangible reasons. Since I never did any airdrop to warrant any. Scammers and hackers are now using different medium to steal funds and if we are not alert, we can become a Victim without awareness.

I guess they are just sending it randomly in hopes that someone would be fool enough to try to claim the money thus they got the money from that person.
after all minting NFT is as easy as clicking at some buttons, thats why they are so motivated to do it.
but i'm sure people with right mind would always consider something that comes out of nowhere also too good to be true to be just scam, so most of them are just gonna outright avoid it.
thats the thing with blockchain these days, there are also many dusting tokens, scam tokens that lure you into interacting with their smart contract function and steal your money, people need to learn these basics honestly.

Making yourself being too dumb and having no sense about scam attempt and just tolerate out that feeling that easy money is possible and that what makes people drive to believe that it does exist and possible
until they would really be able to realize that it was too late and they had already been scammed already. Lots of methods and ways that had been exploited and known out but since not all people do made out their research and there's still lots of newbies who do fuel and feed out these hackers and scammers then the cycle would continue. It is really just that normal that if a certain method had already been known or bust up then they would come up with something new on which its never been that known but eventually these things could really be that stopped or be avoided if you are really just making use of your own common sense on which it would really be that a common approach that you should really be that sensible on whatever offerings that turns out to be too good to be true then its 100% scam. Airdrops and dropping those suspicious links is nothing new
but surprisingly on which the are still people who do really fall out with this kind of method.

We must always vigilant when someone is sending us link where we need to connect our wallets directly to the site.  If we can, we must use an isolated system and a new wallet to the site to be secure.  We can do this by having a dedicated mobile, or device for this kind of airdrop.  We can also create a virtual system to isolate any malware or virus the site can inject and if they turn out to be a positive scam and hacking attempt, at least the attack is contained in a simulated and separate system.

But if we want to avoid setting up a virtual system, we can always avoid these links of airdrops.

Just avoiding those airdrops seems like the easiest choice, as taking all of those precautions is indeed possible, but that means that you are assuming already those links belong the scammers, which they do, and in that case the best course of action is to have nothing to do with them as you never know if they could find a way around your security measures, or as I have seen sometimes on the past in which people connected wallets without funds and then the hackers asked for a wallet that had been used and had money in it, and the victim was dumb enough to connect their wallets and then lose their money this way.

I received several random NFTs in my different wallets, and most of the time I just ignored them since I knew it was a scam but when I receive a scam NFT on my Solana wallet I just burn it so that I can get a small amount of SOL. There are a lot of airdrop scams not only in trust wallets, and you can see it everywhere and I always see them on Twitter and some of them might even tag you that you have won their raffles even though you never joined in the first place. It usually happens to me and I just block them so that they won't be able to tag me or see them on my feed.

In addition, never ever connect your wallet on random links or websites and always verify if the airdrop is true or not, and don't be greedy for the sake of a few dollars. Cause sometimes when we become too greedy, it could lead to a problem rather than a good result

The best thing to do is not to join Airdrop anymore because these scammers once you see your wallet address, give them an interest. Those wallet addresses that are exposed can possibly be their target and they'll find a way to get in touch with us and fulfill their evil plan. But yeah, if we are also clever enough and know how to determine a scam attempt, they will fail. But for those greedy people, I was certain that they would fall into the trap.

It is something we need to be more vigilant about and think about several times before making a decision. We can't underestimate scammers as they are also knowledgeable about the market.

To be frank, this is the reason I avoid pursuing free NFTs and participating in Airdrops, as linking your wallet always carries some level of risk. If someone still wants to take a chance, it's advisable to connect with a brand-new, empty wallet to minimize the potential loss if anything goes awry.

Unfortunately many hunters are still falling into this trap despite of old tactics of the scammers.
Scammers are also adopting the trend so if you will not care on clicking links you might become a victim. Hackers and scammers are all over the cryptospace, this is not new to see them hunting the hunters so if you are into airdrop don't be greedy to participate on airdrop, better to do your own research first.
Well majority of those hunters that fell for this phishing trick are newbies who are into crypto and in their bid to earn, infact some of those newbie are so headstrong despite a stern warning to desist from clicking those links, of course scammers knew that there many gullible and greedy crypto enthusiast thus capitalize on that to perpetuate those scams, I had long time ago stop airdropping especially when it has to do with clicking a link Infact I received some offer through my email advertising some airdrops I immediately deleted those type of messages.
