Title: Can I make my own signature and use it on bitcointalk freely?
Post by: LiliKD on March 29, 2024, 03:05:45 PM
Hi, guys!

I'm absolutely new to this forum and don’t know a lot about how things work here, but I'm really curious to find out. Recently, I noticed a lot of signatures under the messages of certain users and I want to find out: is it possible for me to use them freely (in case if I will make them by myself)? Do I need to pay extra charges to BitcoinTalk for this signature? Will I face any restrictions regarding using this signature?

Yes you can. But make sure it is legit and not a scam. You have no charges to pay. People that are wearing signature and avatar are the ones that are paid by the company that has campaign. They advertise the company using the signature and avatar which is visible on every post they make.

But I think you are not a newbie because newbies will find it difficult to know those are signatures.

Of course you can the forum doesn't restrict you from carrying any signature or avatar of your choice. Just make sure you are not promoting a scam project so you don't get a negative feedback. Currently you won't be able to wear a signature or avatar till you achieve at least jr member rank.
Check Applying signatures and avatars (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5477082.msg63291685#msg63291685) for more info.

Why not! If you can design your signature there will be no charges for that. But the problem is you are a newbie rank for wearing signature you have be at least jr member on Bitcointalk. Or you can buy a copper membership (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote) for that. Copper membership will allow you like a member rank holder. You will able to  showing images on your posts.
And for learning signature designing you can follow this instructions- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1727100.msg17283187#msg17283187.
Signature designing is really hard to do I hope you able learn it from there.

Unfortunately, you're currently not able to wear signature or even personal text.

Also, newbies can no longer set any signature or personal text.

But yeah you can wear short signature and clickable without styling if you pay fees for copper membership rank https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote

Different rank has a different restrictions except you're already ranked up to Hero [LEARN] BBCode Lessons & Tutorials [+tutorial videos!] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1727100.msg17283187#msg17283187).

Yeah you can and you don't have to pay anyone anything in order to wear them.

Just keep in mind that complexity and visibility of your signature depends on your rank, and as Newbie you won't be able to wear any signature at all while minimum to wear the most basic signature is Jr Member. And of course link in your signature shoulnd't lead to phishing/malware sites and/or mixers.

You don't have to pay for the use of signature on your profile as long as such belongs to you, but you may have to seek ones consent before wearing their signature codes, or probably you will have to apply for the campaign in other to be able to wear it, wearing one is not a must for every member, you can choose to do so or not, it's all about making promotions and nothing more, any rank from jr member should be able to wear a signature codes, while full member upwards can put on an avatar.

Wearing signatures of platform that aren't accepted generally by law and the forum would lead you to face some serious consequences. So what ever signature you choose to wear must be that of a registered platform that has license from government bodies and fully registered under the law. Casinos aren't illegal nor aren't legit. But might be on some countries according to their laws. So long it is registered, then you can advertise them here on BTT. Similar to mixers that aren't accepted anymore on BitcoinTalk, if you are found wearing any signature or avatar relating to mixing services, you will be banned.  Mixers to be banned (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476162.msg63251188#msg63251188)

Yes, you can wear a signature on this forum and you are not bound to pay anything to the forum because the forum does not charge anyone for wearing a signature if you have the skill to make your signature then go ahead.  But remember that your signature will not promoting any scam things.  A lot of projects launch their signature and hire persons to advertise their project here and as a result, they weekly paid to them for their services.  So make your signature and set it into your profile but the problem is that your rank is just a newbie and newbie can't wear any signature so first you can just improve your account to member rank so then you can easily wear the signature.

Yea to make sure that the signature that you are putting on is legit means that it should not be a signature of a scam project that you are advertising, because you can lead people to that site, and they would get scammed. If you are advertising as scam site on your signature space, you will be given a red tag by DT members for promoting a scam site.

That signature space contains the link of the company that you are advertising, and that is why people don't want any member to advertise a scam site for the safety of forum members. Those casinos that you see forum members wearing their signatures have built their reputation, and they have been confirmed, although some of them are still having some scam accusations on them on not allowing users to withdraw their wins.

It means that in the signature you should not advertise any illegal services (hacking, for example) and you should not post links to phishing sites and any other sites that are engaged in illegal activities. And casino advertising is not illegal in the US, if I'm not mistaken.

"Legit" by means it is not a scam project you are directly or indirectly promoting on your signature space. Because if it's scam, you will bare the consequences.

Take note that there are restrictions on characters that you can put in the signature based on your rank so you can't wear signature with more characters. You can read here[1]. Newbie signature characters is limited to 50 characters only.

Let's put it this way, scams aren't moderated on this forum. Technically, you could promote a even scam platform in your signature without violating forum rules. However, keep in mind that other members, especially DT members (DefaultTrust (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5095156.0)), might tag your account with a negative trust rating if they have convincing evidence of a scam.

Also, NSFW content is not allowed according to forum rules (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0), not even in signatures.

Wow, guys, thank you so much for sharing with me such information. I really appreciate it. I would love to try wear signature, I’ve already try to make one, but it look sooo ugly, but I think a little bit of practice and I can make it work for me.

And I get the point about casinos, I’ve read that this forum operate under US law and as I acknowledge casinos can run if they have proper licenses, so yeah, it means that is legit.

I remember seeing a guide thread on how to create signature on the forum, you might want to look for it if you want to learn.

Also, just a reminder, you'll need to become at least  a member rank if you want to wear similar signature like the ones other members are wearing.

Edit: looks like someone already shared the thread I was talking about
Here's the tutorial thread that I mentioned.

Just like many people have already suggested, you have the freedom to make and wear your own signature but ensure you don't wear signature of services that are banned in the platform like mixers (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476162.msg63251188#msg63251188) and DDoS services (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476162.msg63287304#msg63287304). Also don't wear signature of scam projects or services because the forum administration frown at scams and will not hesitate to use the sledgehammer.

If you are promoting acceptable signature/service why not every member have the right to wear whatever signature they deem fit and ok for them at any point in time and no one will get punish for that.

But the only time you run into troubles is when you wear unacceptable and widely proven scam signature where the service in the signature can drive anyone into life loses or promoting anything that is not morally acceptable here as a community.

But anything outside that is allowed and each and every member of the forum is free to use they signature and avarter the way they want and wish as long as it goes inline with the generally acceptable manners.

is it possible for me to use them freely (in case if I will make them by myself)?
Yes, it's possible and allowed to use the signatures that you make yourself, there's no such restriction on this forum. But, the maker of the signature should not try to promote a site that's a suspicious one or contain malware. Other than that, you're good to go with your own signature.

Do I need to pay extra charges to BitcoinTalk for this signature?
No, you don't need to pay anything to anyone. If you can design the signature yourself and apply it on your own profile in future then you are allowed to do that without paying anyone anything.

Will I face any restrictions regarding using this signature?
You'll face restrictions if you promote an unallowed service via your signature space, or you may promote a suspicious site. Other than that, you will have no restrictions, however you should understand that in order to take full benefit of signatures, you'll need to reach higher ranks.

That's no problem, no charge.
As long as it's not a signature design about violence, racism, porn, scams, fraud, and several other things that cause commotion or trigger arguments or deceive people, then that's fine. Unless those are the things, then get ready for some possibly bad feedback from the memes here.

But, if it is a signature design that is not related to some of the things above, or does not conflict with some of the prohibitions here, that's no problem. In fact, I'm curious about what kind of signature you want to make.  ;)

Anyway, some members have include several important links related to BBCode or signature, so read them. they will be helpful for you.

You can use a signature when the conditions for your account have been met. At a minimum you must be at rank Jr. Members and above.
Every account ranking from Jr. Members have a limit on the number of characters. The higher the account rank, the greater the number of code characters that can be loaded.

Regarding the rank of an account, it requires sufficient merit. Merits will be given by other users who have sMerits to your posts that are considered quality.

Mia Chloe, Crypto Library and Solosanz have provided a link for you to open which can give you a more complete explanation of what you mean by the topic you raised.

Welcome to bitcointalk platform. You have asked a good question, which every new member curious about the platform would do. At first, I would ask if you want to promote your brand because that should be the reason why you have asked this question or if you have some company you want to promote.

As you can see from the responses of other reputable high-rank members, wearing of signature is not bad, you can design one signature for yourself and wear and also if you do not, a link to how one can design a signature have already been provided for which you can easily learn from. Do not wear a scam or phising link if you do not want your account tobe tagge dor banned. Do not promote things not inline with the forum principles. Avoid mixers as well. but yu can not wear signature as a newbie. You will have to upgrade your account by growing up through ranks before you can do that. So you still have work to do here.

Casinos don't need any kind of license in order to advertise themselves via signature campaign. Eeven scammy gambling sites like 1xbit can run signature campaign here due forum policy to allow as much freedom as possible (that's why scams are not moderated either) but if you decdie to wear a signature of a known scam site, you will ruin your reputation.

To wear a signature, you have to achieve a specific rank, because each rank has a different signature design. However, you are free to wear any signature you want, and the forum doesn't require any fees for that. But just make sure the signature isn't restricted by the forum, like all the mixers signatures are restricted. And it shouldn't be a scam. If the forum doesn't prevent you from promoting scams since scams aren't moderated here, DT members would tag you as a scammer in this case. I will advise you to spend more time on the forum so you can learn forum culture.

Signature is a personal place, you can choose to advertise what you like as long as it doesn't violate the rules of the forum and it doesn't spread any misinformation about Bitcoin and lastly the signature doesn't contain any mlxer on your signature code but looking at your account, you are still a newbie and the forum doesn't allow a newbie to wear a signature code in the Forum, you have to be atleast a junior member before you can wear one.

Alternatively, why don't you just hired managers of the forum to help you better, they know this job because that's what they do and use their time most often in the Forum, with little change few people with high ranks can be selected to help you promote your website or whatever you want to promote in to the forum.

Signature space, personal text and avatar are your personal spaces, you can decide to use it promote your personal project, you may decide to rent them out and get paid for it. You can also decide to promote another person's project for free with your spaces. But as others have said, you should ensure to promote only projects that are promotable here, which are not scams also.

I have to also note that I have seen people who tend to project a project with only their profile and I will keep thinking that if that one signature generates the lead they need or maybe it is for mere awareness of the brand.

Yes, this forum works under US laws, but that don't automatically make everything folks post here legally "US-approved".  The forum itself doesn't officially promote casinos or companies, but members can use their signature space for their own personal things - even promoting casinos that might not be regulated by the US laws.
