For the past few years I've organised betting pools for the English Premier League (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4479837.0) along with the Champions League (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4919683.msg44289685#msg44289685) and the World Cup (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4130568.msg38157956#msg38157956) and now it's time for the European Championships which starts on the 14th of June and runs for a month until the 14th of July.

We will be using the www.superbru.com website again for both tournaments where you get 3 points for predicting an exact score, 1 point for a correct outcome (win/lose/draw) and 1.5 for a close prediction with correct outcome and the winner will be the person who gets the most points at the end of it. The fee to join is 0.0005 bitcoin and all the money paid into the pool will be split amongst the winners. Depending on how many people play will depend on how many places are paid out but it will likely be the top 5-10 places.

There will also be a smaller consolation prize for the UEFA Bracket challenge where you predict how the teams will finish and how they progress through the tournament: https://gaming.uefa.com/en/eurotournamentbracket

Well I wouldn't have been opposed to that but there's probably too many cheapskates and there's less than two weeks to go so I thought I'd make it affordable to get more people involved  ;D.

Offcourse that I'm in. Probably I haven't missed any of football pools that we had on Bitcointalk :D Agree with others that I would prefer higher fee, but I'll play any way.
As I understand  we don't have sponsorship this time. It's a bit sad, considering how many sportsbooks promotes themslves on Bitcointalk, but without few exceptions there is only one who is ready to support such games.

Count me in, I'll make the payments later today or tomorrow at the latest. Without any sponsorship we will need lots of members to register to keep the reward attractive for the prize finish places. The entire football season is on break so players from all the different pools should get to see the link for this one.

Maybe we can burden those who are in every pool to drag some of the players here  :)

If it’s a smaller prize pot and we don’t manage to pick up sponsorship then I’d rather only the top 3 get a paid prize or something but that’s just me.

I think the buy in should be higher aswell so the reward can be bigger… this year we dont have a someone like sportsbet to sponsor the main reward?

Also what should be for top 5 users rewards if we get 30-50 users

I should have paid when I said I would, now fees have gone through the roof and I will have to wait it out for sometime before I can officially join in.

While we are on the topic of a higher buy in, I will be all for it too, except some people have already paid and should not be forced to make two transactions with two separate fees.

Just send the minimum fee possible. As long as it confirms before the tournament it should be ok.


Yeah. I think it locks once the tournament starts. Last year I think they had group tables as well like Superbru but can't seem to see them right now.

You can just divide the pot by the entry fee to get the number of participants. There are currently 12 so far. As with all pools I can't really give prizes until we know how many people are playing.

Damn, my BTC transaction is still pending. Placed it few days ago already. Who could have though that tx fees spike this high right after I place my transaction.

As long as it confirms at some point then that's OK. I can give people a little extra time to pay as usual but given the tournament is only a month long it can't be too long. For those wanting to play just make sure your scores are on on Superbru and picks made on the bracket challenge and they will transfer over to the pool once you join.

It's a little bit different than Superbru where you get extra points for picking first team to score and player etc which could make it a lot more interesting. We did it this way for one of the last tournaments. Should we use this one? Might be a bit late but we could disregard the first game if not everyone makes it. I'm gonna message everyone to try get them to put their picks in on that. There's 0.01313254 in the pot so I will just split it down the middle 50/50 so 0.006 each to the winner of the bracket and the predictor. Or possibly, make it 0.005 each and whatever's left in the pot after fees goes to the winner of the EURO predictor which will be less than 0.00313254. If any one can manage to get a sponsor or maybe even just some free bets we can give those to one or two of the runner ups.
