Title: [FREE RAFFLE] Coldkey History 20.4.38 | Peeled
Post by: raghavsood on August 14, 2024, 06:04:03 PM
Well, I lied slightly - the Raffle is free as in money, but not free of effort.

Clearing out some duplicates, and that includes some coldkeys.

The card has been peeled, and funds swept - If I recall correctly, this was actually one of the few cards I owned that wasn't swept by Yogg, and was redeemed by me instead.

https://mempool.space/address/bc1qckqzjjs7rhkhp8d5kuasmnusd94fa8837tq3ay

The holo and private key are included - holo obviously shows signs of being peeled, but is otherwise intact. I did not need to peel it off entirely, so the right edge is still attached to the card without the voiding marks. The left edge has some crinkling and shows the voided pattern.

Besides its unfortunate history, the card is stored well in a plastic sleeve inside a PCGS-style slab inside another plastic sleeve. The original Coldkey card envelope is also included and in excellent condition.

To receive a ticket for this raffle, you must post some informational fact about collectibles that I do not already know - it can be publicly known by others, as long as I'm unaware of it. Hopefully this helps grow what everyone knows about various collectibles. The information must be posted in this thread publicly for all to see.

If you are successful, you can select a ticket number above.

The fact could be anything - maybe a creator sold a test strike that wasn't publicly known. Maybe you know something about the unique history/provenance of an item (owned by someone important, stolen and rediscovered, etc). It could be an interesting fact about an item itself (extra security features, complex production process such as wire EDM (ala squirrelbits), etc).

It could be more mundane facts such as total mintage of an item that isn't commonly known. It could be a cool fact like the use of vanity addresses by some creators. Maybe you're the creator yourself and have something cool to share about your own works.

Any item that's a fit for this forum is fair game (i.e., it could be collectible BTC-themed art work). Being a loaded, typical coin/bar, is not a requirement.

Really anything interesting and factually correct (preferably with some proof - the more I trust you as a user, the less concrete proof needed).

I've been around for a few years, so it may not be as easy as it sounds.

A user can claim up to 3 tickets by submitting multiple facts.

My decisions on what I already know and what I consider to be a fact is final - my raffle, my choice. Also, I presumably know what I already know.

Each spot also grants you the equidistant spots up to 255 - so whoever selects spot 00 also gets 32, 64, 96, 128, 160, 192, 224.

We then roll, last hex byte of the selected block number's hash wins.

Shipping by regular tracked post is included worldwide. Upgrade to private (DHL, FedEx) at winner's cost.

in particular: finally also I know how to pronounce this word  :)

Quote
It is properly pronounced “ka-SAY-shuss”, though I am not bothered by the variations I hear.

You may or may not know that I won the Bitcoin Penny mint mark auction (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5208019.msg53357153#msg53357153) for the 2020 copper pennies.
I chose the mint mark of "MGHB" when most thought I'd pick "GEO"
MGHB represents the first initial of each of my 4 children.

Also, if you ever see a 2020 penny with "geo" stamped into it, it means it has passed through my hands. I have many "geo" stamped pennies, but very few have made it into the wild.

5 Casascius Series 1 One BTC 2011 present a double error: on their hologram, Casascius is misspelled « Casacius » (that is the case for approx 3500 Casascius series 1 One BTC 2011) + the printer accidently placed the firstbits address 3 mm higher than normal
Outside of the unique prototype gold 1000 BTC coin, the 2011 Double Error is the rarest variety in the Casascius series :)

Very interesting.
I would argue that the 500BTC Cas bars are the most rare variety with only one  of each V1 and V2 being made. I may be wrong though. Certainly only 5 double errors is a rare bird indeed!

I think you’re right indeed! I wasn’t taking Casascius bars into account, only coins, I should’ve.

A lovely heirloom, and definitely not one I would have guessed - which number would you like?

And your number, please :)

In Italian section, we made a competition/game in order to find "the earliest copy of newspaper or magazine that was citing bitcoin".
Winner of this even was @fillippone. He was able to retrieve a copy of local newspaper printed on  19 Jan 2012!
More or less on the same year/month we have identified also other items listed here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5359053.0

The most valuable coin (current face value expressed in FIAT) is a casascius coin (1000 btc).

The first stamp with a bitcoin private key (bip38) has been produced by forum member @krogoth (cypherhold)

Satori, the famous tokens/chips minted in Japan, means:
sudden enlightenment and a state of consciousness attained by intuitive illumination representing the spiritual goal of Zen Buddhism.

I grant you two tickets, for the first newspaper and the Satori meaning - please select your numbers!

I'm already aware of Korgoth's works and the 1000 BTC coins, unfortunately (I have an unloaded one).

I did know this :)

There is a similar instance for MoonBits as well, where someone actively uses collectibles as a cold wallet:

✂️
It also looks like someone out there is actively using some MoonBits as a wallet - 1DFACEso4s (https://collectible.money/item/2019MOONBITS-R-TITAN-1DFACEso4s) and 1N7ufYeH7n (https://collectible.money/item/2019MOONBITS-R-TITAN-1N7ufYeH7n) from the 2019 R-Series 0.005 BTC set have been funded well over their face value over the course of multiple transactions in 2023.

Taken to an extreme, there's a Cas Silver 0.1 BTC with 50 BTC+ too: https://collectible.money/item/CASASCIUS-FINE-SILVER-1Agy2jwZS4

If you want to check out more extreme funding cases, run this query on the tracker's godmode (https://collectible.money/godmode): https://pastebin.com/B1zKJg4W

It lists out the top ten balances for each series where at least one item exists with a value >= 2x that of the median funding for that series.

This is not an interesting fact, but a lot of people assumed I was part owner of Silver Wallets (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=983211.0). I was not, just sold them for them, much like I do now for Polymerbit.

I also used to do group buys for:
- Kialara (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=889771), as you had to buy 5 at a time for the initial few releases, did five in total
- PaperSafe (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1103301), that came with a custom EU stamp
- Bitcoin Penny (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1447984)

- openDime (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1479538)
- BitPiece (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1537097)

Just felt like sharing. Forgot how many group buys I've actually done, nowadays everybody just reships via Minerjones. :P

"The Legend of Satoshi Nakamoto", by "Coin Artist", 2014

This is one of the coolest collectibles I've ever seen. This painting, created by Coin Artist in 2014, contains a private key that grants access to 4.87 BTC, which was worth around $1,400 at the time of its creation in September 2014. When the puzzle was solved three years later, the 4.87 BTC was worth over $50,000.

Awesome!

I'll post a fun fact.

In 2011, Casascius was also selling the 25 BTC coins. However, he mentioned publicly here on the forum that he wasn't going to be making many of them, because "there just isn't much demand for them." The price of Bitcoin at the time was around $30, which put these coins at a loaded value of about $750. Today, this translates to $1.5M worth of Bitcoin. And the coins themselves are extremely rare, with an auction in November of 2021 "The “Baby Cas,” a 25 BTC physical coin issued by Casascius in 2011 realized $1,698,750 at GreatCollections"

details on that auction: https://www.pcgs.com/news/casascius-bitcoin-sells-at-greatcollections

If this makes me eligible, I would like slot #17 please  :)

Hmm.

I was the first person to release artwork related to the Bitcoin white paper which featured the entire white paper set with the Bitcoin logo. Several variations were released by artists over the years, drawing inspiration from the original art which released in 2018:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2700386.0

I can also confirm I was the owner of one of the 2018 Allen Ginter Cryptocurrency Glow In The Dark Mini cards (one of only four) which was sold for $10K in 2019. Buyer would like to remain anonymous, however, but this is good information for the forum for when another one shows up for sale and people may have a difficult time determining a price.

Interestingly, I chanced upon a set of Lynx cards while cleaning up my storage - a (I believe) full set of serial 87/100 at that point in time - maybe I'll post some photos once they're slabbed

Unfortunately, I've aware of much of Cas history (then again, this thread was kicked off with a Cas fact I wasn't aware of, so maybe I'm not)

Feel free to try again with more interesting tidbits!

Both wonderful tidbits, please select 2 numbers

Interestingly, I chanced upon a set of Lynx cards while cleaning up my storage - a (I believe) full set of serial 87/100 at that point in time - maybe I'll post some photos once they're slabbed

Awesome :) #17 and #21 please.

can I post more facts for more numbers?  :D

And that's cool that you have a lynx card! thanks for supporting the business. those metal wallets sold really quickly.

Each use is allowed up to three entries, so you can have one more if you have worthy facts :D

I bought them off another forum user (won't say who for privacy) - they are quite lovely. I got the holos with them, although I never ended up DIYing the keys to fund any.

yes you are right it should be "released". the gibraltar stamp I have mentioned is an UPU stamp issued directly/officially by a postal administration.
https://www.upu.int/en/contact-us/philately-stamps
https://www.postalmuseum.org/collections/highlights/philatelic-collection/universal-postal-union-stamps/
this is the first stamp issued as official issue printed by a government/postal entity.

The information I will provide (hoping OP does not know it :)) is about the Cypher Hodl Ballet cards raffled by krogoth (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5465613.0) for a long while. These are some beautiful cards realized by krogoth and they come in two forms -- one has a "sunny Bitcoin" symbol, while the other one has the image of a hacker. The cards provide the public and private keys, but these keys can not be imported in another wallet.

In order to peel them you need to install Ballet application and add the card there (by inserting the pass phrase -- which is also mentioned on the card -- and its public & private keys). Only after the card is added to Ballet application you can transfer the funds from it. I explained here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5501538.msg64279840#msg64279840) the procedure.

This information may be useful in case OP will ever have the chance to obtain one of these beautiful cards and will also wish to peel it.

Did you know the very first 65 Casascius coins were loaded on the Wed, 07 Sep 2011 03:59:59 +0000 making them the very first physical Bitcoin coins and are very rare indeed! These were first load earliest time as other were loaded that day but at a later time.

A similar coin with a same day but later time stamp went for a high of 5.6 BTC

Not new to me :) I own several Ballet products - If I'm not wrong, they just use BIP38, so in theory you could redeem it with any BIP38 compliant wallet, although the Ballet app has its own merits

Did you know that the Alpen Coin Series 1 #005 was used to test the redeem process, to document it, and as an example on the website? The coin was loaded on 06/15/2020 and redeemed the same day. I reloaded the coin on 07/14/2020, knowing that the private key was exposed, and someone redeemed it on 08/02/2020. I’m curious to know who it was. And who knows if I’ll ever reload the Alpen Coin serial #005 again.

The most valuable numismatic item in the entire world is actually a 1 oz Gold Casascius Physical Bitcoin loaded with 1000 Bitcoins worth approximately $70 million dollars. If you google “what's the most valuable numismatic item in the entire world“ they say its a “1849 Double Eagle Gold Coin“ worth $20 Million. But they are wrong. Also the first bitcoin to ever reach $1 million Dollars was a Physical Bitcoin.

Number 2 please or any available :)

I would assume the first to reach 1 million would also be the same coin thats is the most valuable numismatic item but I also presume I'm wrong because it was never sold for any amount. I'm not sure what coin first sold for 1 million but I would assume it is a cas coin.

Haha, okay okay. Here is another, in 2020 Lealana released a series on Monero coins. The 2020 Monero coins had a rainbow series. 300 rainbow moneros were minted in the .1 denominations and another 300 rainbow moneros were minted in the .25 denomination. 600 total rainbow moneros in 2020. Fun fact about those is that they came with an easter egg if you purchased a roll of 20 coins. The very first front holo rainbow monero coins were given to those lucky enough to buy rolls. There is only a mintage of 15 in the .1 denomination and 15 in the .25 denomination. Many people aren't aware that these coins exist because they were never mentioned in the release  of the coins. They are among the rarest Lealana monero coins in 2020. :)

Here is another fun fact you probably don't know. In 2023 Caribbean Treasures was attempting to make a 1g coin in the denomination of 7500 satoris. The coins were never released because of minting issues. Only 3 1g coins were struck. Only 2 of the 1g coins are operational. The other 1 was severally damaged past the point of salvaging. There is also 1 trail strike of that design done on a 10 gram and 5 gram coin. In total only 4 of that design exists, all trail strikes. You may verify with - Caribbean Treasures :)

For the 10th birthday of the genesis block, in 2009, French street artist Pascal Boyart painted a frescoe in Paris with a 0.26btc ($1000 at the time) puzzle in it. Inspired by the painting « La liberté guidant le peuple » by Delacroix (1830), it was a tribute to France’s Yellow Vest movement. The hidden 12 words (« Banker usury lie people fight hope union citizen lead triumph yellow horizon ») were found one week later by a couple that claimed the bounty.

It's a great day to learn something new - 13 slots left before we roll.

I'll share some too:

1. The highest funded item isn't actually the cas 1k - Someone funded a 25 BTC Cas with 2k BTC (https://collectible.money/item/S2CASASCIUS-25-1GDhi28dSZ), and a 1 BTC Cas with 1.9k BTC (by spending the previous 25 BTC cas!) (https://collectible.money/item/S2-2013-CASASCIUS-1-13ApETEQxW)
2. BTCC wasn't the first to make items containing a coinbase output (or part thereof) - there have been 26 instances of at least part of a coinbase transaction being sent to a collectible prior to BTCC's first item (https://collectible.money/item/2015BTCC-BLOCK-N-SERIES-AP-0) being funded:

I will give one final fact for slot #20 if it qualifies.

The Economist "Get Ready For A World Currency" magazine was a magazine I owned. It was told to an anonymous buyer here on the forum for $4K back in 2018. I imagine that, today, it's value is at least $50K or way higher.

Picture proof:

I wish I still had this.  :'(
