Title: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: tabas on October 01, 2024, 02:59:24 AM I'm not sure if this should be here in the Beginners and help. But since more newbies are going here than the SA section, I'm posting it here. Otherwise, the mods are free to move it.
Be careful of fake Binance desktop app. Recently, I posted this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5510180.0) on SA about fake passive income that appears on Youtube ads. Now, I've come across this ad on a popular blue social media. https://talkimg.com/images/2024/10/01/iQiBa.png Advertised by a sketchy page named "Profit Pioneers" promising 0% commission/trading fees directing whoever is interested in it to click their link which will redirect to this link; Code: https://binance-desktop.com/en/downloads which is an obvious fake link. https://talkimg.com/images/2024/10/01/iQg3N.png Binance has a desktop app based on its official link: https://www.binance.com/en/download Additional images: Note: Always verify and check the official links and channels before downloading. My suggestion is to always bookmark the official Binance website to avoid any confusion that could end up being costly.
Binance also released a warning about phishing websites like this, which you can check out below. If a product enticed you through an ad, find the product manually through Google or social media search; don't click on the ad. Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: FinneysTrueVision on October 01, 2024, 05:14:32 AM Binance does have a legitimate desktop app, although I’m not sure why anybody would use it instead of the website. They don’t provide a signature for their official desktop apps so people could end up in a situation where they do a google search for "Binance desktop app" and accidentally end up on a phishing site and won’t know they are installing malware until it is too late.
Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: DYING_S0UL on October 01, 2024, 06:14:34 AM Man!! this site looks genuine. Anyone who isn't careful enough will surely fall for this kind of phishing sites. Because it's easy to post any links through social media, scammers are using it. Another thing I have noticed, whenever you google search any exchanges like Binance, Kucoin, or Bybit etc, the search result always shows sponsored site at first and then the original site, which I searched for. These so called sponsored sites aren't always the real ones. Better be careful...

Hey, where have you been? If a product enticed you through an ad, find the product manually through Google or social media search; don't click on the ad. I noticed you were off for a while. Glad to have you back. ~snip~ The proliferation of these fake crypto desktop app in my estimation is due to the airdrops that have been on the rise. And Binance has been at the forefront of listing some of these tokens. Those who have participated in the tasks of these airdrops and are eager to get their rewards will definitely fall victims to fake app. tabas, I am sure that if you carry out more investigations, you will find out there other fake exchange desktop app because it cannot just Binance. Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: Outhue on October 01, 2024, 06:39:34 AM This looks like something that a newbie of me can never fall for, simply because it is too obvious, that link isn't Binance official link, even if a Binance desktop wallet exists that should be available on Binance website included with the mobile app too but newbies are main target for this because they are too stupid to realize the difference so I am not going to say that this warning isn't necessary.
Most of the losses happening this days are because of airdrops and crypto giveaways, people are looking for free ways to make money, especially the newbies, the majority of them come empty handed and airdrops like are the only options they have left, there is no way they won't become a victim. This scheme doesn't end with Binance exchange only, other crypto apps and wallets are also a target, newbies only need to find the right apps through official links to stay ahead of these scammers. e.g using coinmarketcap Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: SilverCryptoBullet on October 01, 2024, 06:43:10 AM Binance has a desktop app based on its official link: https://www.binance.com/en/download You can search and check with Google, Coinmarketcap, Coingecko, to have website link to Binance, and its application link too.https://www.google.com/search?q=google+binance+exchange https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/ https://www.coingecko.com/en/exchanges On coinmarketcap.com and coingecko.com, you can choose Exchanges tab then Spot for Coinmarketcap.com or Exchangess tab then Crypto Exchanges for Coingecko.com, and you will see Binance there. Or you can enter Binance to their search box and find Binance. Quote Note: Always verify and check the official links and channels before downloading. After finding and checking to confirm their exchange website link, get download link officially from their websites.Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: Oshosondy on October 01, 2024, 07:09:05 AM Some people will not listen. It is as simple as download the Binance app from the official website. All exchanges also works like that. If you access the exchanges on the web, you will see where you can download their apps when you are about to login. All these are easy to avoid but some people are just novice.
Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: komarnickagalina248 on October 01, 2024, 07:54:33 AM There have been fake Binance desktop applications appearing recently. They may look legitimate but are designed to steal personal information and funds. Always download the app only from the official Binance website and check the URLs. Protect your accounts by using two-factor authentication and avoid suspicious links.
This applies not only to Binance but also to all other exchanges and wallets. Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: PrivacyG on October 01, 2024, 08:19:50 AM 'Desktop App' yet the advertising image of the Scam shows very clearly a Google Chrome tab open with the Binance website on it and it is not even promoted by a fake Binance account. It can not be more clear than this that it is a Scam. This is the type of Scam only Newbies and non technical Computer users would fall for. And these are the same people who likely believe that it must be real and legitimate since it is on the Internet..
Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: cryptoaddictchie on October 01, 2024, 08:21:19 AM Since Binance browser is banned in the Philippines surely it will help us too to identify fake binance desktop apps since we cant access this one.
Some people will not listen. It is as simple as download the Binance app from the official website. All exchanges also works like that. If you access the exchanges on the web, you will see where you can download their apps when you are about to login. All these are easy to avoid but some people are just novice. Well cant help it as some people are hard headed guys. Using an official website always make us safe from potential scams. I wonder why they arent careful enough and still fall on this kind of scams. Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: hugeblack on October 01, 2024, 08:32:15 AM I think you should be more careful with crypto ads and not click on any sub-link especially those that lead to downloading files, YouTube or Facebook do not have strict conditions and many of these ads are support for fraud.
Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: MusaMohamed on October 01, 2024, 09:50:54 AM Since Binance browser is banned in the Philippines I didn't know that Binance was banned in the Philippines, my thinking is if their website link is banned by your government, no way to access the exchange with mobile applications too. I am not sure it is possible to access Binance with VPN but don't have problems with Binance's Compliance team too.I think you should be more careful with crypto ads and not click on any sub-link especially those that lead to downloading files, YouTube or Facebook do not have strict conditions and many of these ads are support for fraud. It's better to be careful and prevention is better than cure.If people are curious and would like to explore things, they have to do this with an empty advice, on which they don't log in any important accounts of banks, centralized exchanges, cryptocurrency wallets and emails for important things. Be careful and self-protect against fraud is important and we can not rely on community reports against fraud and scam. Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: Yaunfitda on October 01, 2024, 10:26:57 AM Thanks for this, I have just scrolled on my facebook and I thought I could have seen this kind of ads? Not sure, but I have to go back and check, but what caught my attention is that it's very similar interface that is showing in my feed.
Yeah, I heard that Binance is ban from the Philippines but there are still Filipinos that I known of who are trying to access with VPN. Anyhow, thanks for this warning and hopefully no one will fall for this trick. Yeah, I heard that Binance is ban from the Philippines but there are still Filipinos that I known of who are trying to access with VPN. Anyhow, thanks for this warning and hopefully no one will fall for this trick. Philippines just ban binance but they totally not implement a total ban for this exchange since their App still accessible and anyone could used it anytime they want. Also its good that OP share this information since its really enticing especially for people looking for convenience and if to bad if they spot this fake binance app since there's really a huge chance that they would lose everything they have especially that those scammers don't have mercy and they would stole anything they can get from their victims. Always important for people to check the url or to verify those apps they see, since phising attack exist and the creator of those apps is just doing a lot of ways just to spread out their creation and fool people to hack them. Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: Coyster on October 01, 2024, 11:51:24 AM Social media is the worst place to get or download anything related to cryptocurrency, there are so many scam ads on facebook, YouTube and the others. I wonder if the people who fall for these scams are new to crypto and they don't have any involvement prior to clicking such links, i say so because if you are in the crypto industry, you should know where to get legitimate information and also know where you should and should not download things from.
Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: tvplus006 on October 01, 2024, 04:49:56 PM Everyone should remember that you can download such applications only from the official website. Yes it was ban few months back and any violators who still uses or caught promoting the use of Binance will be forced for a fine or criminal sanctions. Well the app still working since PH doesnt have a valid reason for its total abolishment on Playstore and Apple so it can still be access from the app. Only thr browser isnt working. They don’t provide a signature for their official desktop apps so people could end up in a situation where they do a google search for "Binance desktop app" and accidentally end up on a phishing site and won’t know they are installing malware until it is too late. What may shock many of us is that fake app makers are successful in trapping victims even though their method may seem primitive and no one would believe it. Launching a fake app in parallel with an advertising campaign can achieve good results for hackers. Here we can address Binance’s responsibility to contribute to achieving a large part of the security of its users by being aware of these fake apps or malicious links to publish warnings about them on its channels and alerting users. This may seem pointless, but it certainly has a direct impact and can contribute to reducing the damage that these attempts may cause.Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: Rruchi man on October 01, 2024, 05:43:16 PM Be careful of fake Binance desktop app. Recently, I posted this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5510180.0) on SA about fake passive income that appears on Youtube ads. They accept anything and promote it without considering how some people, especially those new on the internet and very naive, can be affected. Now, I've come across this ad on a popular blue social media. Because there is already knowledge that ads are not always legit and that some ads can actually lead you to scam platforms, there should be caution on your side. You should not trust whatever pop-up ad you see. Download apps from official websites or the App Store. Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: ImThour on October 01, 2024, 05:43:18 PM Thanks for sharing this. I personally would never install any Exchange's desktop app for many reasons. Most of them do not even do a vulnerability test before launching the apps. Most of these apps of the exchanges are created using JavaScript which the codebase is used for Mobile, Tablet, Desktop and Web versions which make them very unsafe to use. You should always use the Mobile App or directly login using browser.
Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: albon on October 01, 2024, 07:33:24 PM Advertised by a sketchy page named "Profit Pioneers" promising 0% commission/trading fees directing whoever is interested in it to click their link which will redirect to this link; As we can see, scammers always weave their malicious game by placing tempting offers and eye-catching names for profit or linking to celebrities, which may push any beginner to try what they publish in the hope of recovering from trading fees and the like. It is worth noting that everyone has previously warned against these fraudulent ads containing malicious software and dangerous phishing links. They simply impersonate Binance's brand name/logo or any CEX and exploit it to promote their scams. Binance has previously warned about this matter through the following announcement: 'How to Protect Your Assets From Fake App Scams (https://www.binance.com/en/blog/security/how-to-protect-your-assets-from-fake-app-scams-8428496566631647285)'It is worth noting that the phishing domain is inactive, and it seems to have been taken down. However, they may return with other domains, so it is advisable to install an ad blocker and the Detect Phishing Sites extension, in addition to being cautious about social media. But there's still a risk on this one when no one will notice that someone, a hacker would change the downloadable file into theirs, this has happened from other services that users even visited the official one and yet, the devs and admins didn't noticed it was replaced. Although for the likes of Binance, this is unlikely and little chance, it's still best to visit the official link.Man!! this site looks genuine. You're no longer a newbie because you've found the obvious. But sadly, even if we can avoid these fake websites and apps there goes the real newbies that are likely to fall for it. That's why if there's a way to educate them, even with your friends, please do.After finding and checking to confirm their exchange website link, get download link officially from their websites. It is as simple as download the Binance app from the official website. All exchanges also works like that. If you access the exchanges on the web, you will see where you can download their apps when you are about to login. All these are easy to avoid but some people are just novice. It's pretty sad that even the name of the page is technically from an unknown source but they know that there will be newbies that will likely fall for it. And when that page and post are reported, they'll make a new one. I hope that these social media will be strict on which pages they'll allow to advertise but then, it's all about the money as long as they pay they will approve these ads.Since Binance browser is banned in the Philippines surely it will help us too to identify fake binance desktop apps since we cant access this one. While there are some newbies that would still like to access them, bypassing through VPNs if they are persistent as the promised "0% fee" looks interesting to them.I think you should be more careful with crypto ads and not click on any sub-link especially those that lead to downloading files, YouTube or Facebook do not have strict conditions and many of these ads are support for fraud. And thanks for the reminder, I'd be more careful next time. Thanks for this, I have just scrolled on my facebook and I thought I could have seen this kind of ads? Not sure, but I have to go back and check, but what caught my attention is that it's very similar interface that is showing in my feed. You're welcome, the technique of these cons is they're quickly changing the page asap if someone reports it and that's why you are not seeing this kind of ad. At the same time, you need to visit the exchange's website only from your bookmarks in the browser. You should take responsibility for your safety. They accept anything and promote it without considering how some people, especially those new on the internet and very naive, can be affected. It's all about the money. They wouldn't mind filtering it for the cause of those potential victims. All they are is for the profit and if they want to, these slipped ads can be monitored and removed asap. I'd do that favor for myself and being more careful, it's best to avoid installing any app from them. Coming from wallets, to these desktop apps and other resources that could be a gateway for the hackers. As we can see, scammers always weave their malicious game by placing tempting offers and eye-catching names for profit or linking to celebrities, which may push any beginner to try what they publish in the hope of recovering from trading fees and the like. But even if they have given that reminder for so many times, still, there will be those few who fall for it. You're right, very likely once reported and taken down, they'll come out again with a newer domain and name.It is worth noting that the phishing domain is inactive, and it seems to have been taken down. If somebody falls for the Scam OP shows, I really doubt they would know how to use this verification webpage let alone know it even exists.Binance has had many alerts and messages for Newbies to read, even about Scams. This kind of Scam still working only shows that people never actually read. It would be this easy. Read and prevent. Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: ThemePen on October 02, 2024, 09:10:08 AM You are right to warn us. Fake websites are getting harder to spot and social media makes it easy for scammers to share harmful links. To stay safe make sure you are on real website especially when looking for financial sites like Binance or Kucoin or Bybit. Here is what we can do. skip ads at top of search results and find official site. Check website address carefully for small changes that might mean it is fake. Also turn on extra security checks and keep virus protection updated. By being careful and telling like this help others avoid losing money.

It is very alarming that they could advertise on behalf of a reputable business that doesn’t know they are being used in front of laypeople through ads. It should be verified when accepting ads like this. I believe that the platform, in whatever social media, should be thoroughly investigated and not just accepted because they are willing to pay.

It looks like it was Facebook that OP found this Advertisement on.Sure, I agree, all these platforms should take this kind of Scam Advertisements seriously. But they do not, because they do not care. I am pretty sure there are at the very least some bots that quickly verify Ads before publishing. It is enough for a bot to see the word 'Binance' and then see the redirecting link is not the official webpage and the Ad would then either be immediately canceled or sent to a human to double check what is going on. But this never happens. They always slip through and there are always Cryptocurrency Scam Ads. I understand when it is an ICO Scam, I mean what can you do. It is the team behind an ICO publishing an Advertisement for their new 'Product'. But impersonating Binance? How can this slip through? All these are easy to avoid but some people are just novice. I don't think it's the novice but due to carelessness. Some people are not novice at all but they are just lazy to make due verification before interacting with links. Several times, it has been posted here before not to download any exchange app from random link but only from their official website. This forum has been on the fore front guiding people on the potential scam format and how to avoid it. Sadly, some people are not here to benefit from this vital information. For sure majority of them is really a novice, but also we cannot erase those lazy people who usually don't read up the site or app linked below since what come up with them is their greed to earn some bonus by clicking the link provided by such post. To bad for people to fall in such obvious scheme since people might not show sympathy with them especially if they know that they have experience dealing with crypto but they are lazy to read that's why they experience those unfortunate hacking incident. Being security cautious is really needed since we are not playing around. Also if we are doubting we can always ask people to know some info's that we want to know. But the chances for a experience trader to fall for this trick might be small. As he or she could have known that this is trick already. I'm also from the Philippines and we all know that Binance is no longer accessible to us as the government ban it completely although there are news that they want to make a comeback. So a newbie or novice will likely fall for this because of their carelessness and not verifying any. And as we have said here, don't trust but verify and this could be very well aptly in this kind of situation. Of course, we should not trust anyone and do not click any link and practice safety everytime. Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: Shishir99 on October 02, 2024, 12:27:12 PM People should know that platforms like Binance and other exchanges won't promote such additional things on social media from a random page. Usually, when platforms release their apps or some additional updates, they put the update on their main website homepage and send notifications to their customers. They sometimes send emails, but I would suggest not relying on emails because it is easy to spoof email these days. So, everyone should check the main website before they trust anything. Now, if someone says to download the latest Electrum wallet and provide me a link, should I download that? Nope. I should go to their website and download it from their official website.

Binance and PH already have a recent issue with the license operation so most of the people here didn't use binance platform at all.

Facebook need to assess things more carefully with stricter regulation before approving these advertisements on their platform.Sure, I agree, all these platforms should take this kind of Scam Advertisements seriously. If they already allowed advertisements that are scam, community can report scam advertisement to Facebook and wait for their response that is expected to take down scam advertisements as soon as possible. TRY AGAIN.
I wonder when will these scammers lure me. I mean I want myself to get scammed, but looking at how these scammers are doing it, it's way cheap, very cheap than what I expect. Why? ;) Thanks OP. I believe these kinds of threads that are spreading awareness to newbies will help at least 1, 2 or even more. There might be some Binance users out there that saw this already but saw this awareness thread as well. Always, always be knowledgeable if you want to survive in this harsh world of cryptocurrencies. If you don't want to get scammed, always research first before investing, and downloading anything. Scammers are evolving (but I can't feel it because they can't scam me), so the best thing that we can do as an investor is to evolve as well and equip yourself with knowledge. :) Unfortunately, Facebook might be doing their best to pin down these scam attempts, but it isn't enough to prevent it. At the end of the day, most of the social media platforms have the same problem, and it's up to us investors already if we will fall to them or not. Expect more of these in the future. :) Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: CryptSafe on October 03, 2024, 05:22:16 AM OP absolutely did justice here for putting up this thread. I could imagine the number of newbies that have already fallen victim of this fake exchange. Scammers could go to any extent to see how they could scam people of their resources and if one is not very careful and attentive, one could easily fall for this scam.
I think OP should be able to make this known beyond this platform, on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Reddit etc. so that newbies there can as well see it and have knowledge about the fake binance exchange so they do not fall prey of this scam exchange. Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: NotATether on October 03, 2024, 09:07:14 AM What may shock many of us is that fake app makers are successful in trapping victims even though their method may seem primitive and no one would believe it. Launching a fake app in parallel with an advertising campaign can achieve good results for hackers. Here we can address Binance’s responsibility to contribute to achieving a large part of the security of its users by being aware of these fake apps or malicious links to publish warnings about them on its channels and alerting users. This may seem pointless, but it certainly has a direct impact and can contribute to reducing the damage that these attempts may cause. These fake app makers usually buy a scam/phishing template from someone and then deploy it for themselves. They are not really app makers but they just re-distribute other people's malware. Particularly the kind that lets you steal other people's coins and send it to a server that another person controls, before sending it back out to you with a small comission attached. Yeah, I heard that Binance is ban from the Philippines but there are still Filipinos that I known of who are trying to access with VPN. So most likely the same groups are behind all of this. And when you thought that Meta says that they don't allow scam sites on their platform, this is one example that they are not doing their jobs. Somehow, Meta did a filter so that such a malicious link could get through. I found a lot of similar links that will automatically download .APK extension apps and for unauthorized desktops. Ordinary people will be trapped with trap links like this and of course need to do a report to flag that the paid sponsor is a scammer. Not only on FB or Meta, but in some video providers that are quite crowded with users such as TikTok or YouTube broadcast ads managed by scammers, and it gets away quite easily. So just like what @ NotATether, the template is very similar so it could have come from one sources and then deploy by different cyber criminals to trap people. It seems a lot of people already seeing this ad. Probably the same ad is running from multiple facebook accounts. I am not sure if all the URLs are the same. If all of those URLs and the ads are the same, it is the same group who have been spreading this in social media. I am afraid to think how many people have already fallen for this trap. People who are in crypto but not experts are going to be victims of this trap. There are several blackhat forums where some blackhat developers sell those scripts online just for a few hundred dollars. Don't ask me for the sources because I guess it's well-known already and I don't want to spread them further. I wonder if the people who fall for these scams are new to crypto and they don't have any involvement prior to clicking such links, i say so because if you are in the crypto industry, you should know where to get legitimate information and also know where you should and should not download things from. To many ads in most of this social media apps and also games the moment you are connected to the internet you start seen ads for you to actually download apps which they know that many of this apps are actually not correct and they are scams I don't know the reason why does ads are accepted when they can not even distinguish between wether they can be trusted or not, they try to make everyone believe that those apps are legit and can be trusted which is a lie. Is not that they are new some is just that they are ignorant if not you know exactly were to download the actual app why not just go their directly to download instead of trusting ads the only single thing have downloaded from those ads is not more than a game and I know it was the actual thing but when it comes to anything crypto I go directly to were I will download. It is even very risky to be clicking every single link you see so that you don't get hacked because a lot of stories have been heard thay people are hacked because of the link they clicked caution needs to be taken serious with both ads and links. Although we cannot stop this since for sure those scammers would continue this schemes, so what at least we can do with this is to make our relatives and friends aware about those fake apps especially when they are dealing crypto or any financial deals online. I expect to see more of this attempt since right now bitcoin current pump would provably catch interest to a lot of people and again those scammers would take advantage on that situation. Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: Mpamaegbu on October 19, 2024, 12:42:07 PM We see this type of ensnarement at its peak during bull seasons. As people gear up to increase their invested profits, so also do scammers increase their illicit tactics.
This is the major reason everyone who's genuinely in this crypto industry has to have patience and scrutiny as their best guide. Without those two, one will constantly fall victim to scammers. Be patient and don't hurry up on anything while dealing with anyone, even when they attempt to make you think they're in a hurry. Don't rush. That way one can see through their game plan. I, for one, don't like clicking on random links. I take my time to source links or information from official sites of projects I'm interested in. That way, one is sure of what one is dealing with. From coin sites, I'm sure one would get the genuine Binance link and not the phisher we've there. I believe newbies are taking note of this. Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: Ultegra134 on October 19, 2024, 02:19:20 PM Sadly, that is true. The scammers are capitalizing on the greed of their victims but this isn't the case for this one. They're targeting specific victims who are into Binance and think that they're able to get some freebies through zero fees by downloading the fake desktop app. They thought that they're able to save such fees by reading that 0% but no, they've just been attracted and fell for the scam. It's not necessarily greed, but ignorance. The advertisement looks quite legit, if you ignore the fact that's it's posted by a random account on Facebook and not Binance itself, and unfortunately looks quite well-done, except from the download and Windows icon. People aren't fueled by the greed of 0% fees, Binance already has low fees, they're aiming at people who have limited knowledge and won't think too much about it. Social media are a paradise for scammers, from fake influencers and pyramid schemes, to full blown scams and phishing attempts.Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: tabas on December 20, 2024, 03:35:37 AM Bumping and adding some recent images of another scam related to Binance/BNB and this scam tactic, so beware those that have relatives that are using Facebook or even folks and newbies that are also from the forum. The other image is about BNB scam, "deposit this xx amount, receive this xx amount" typical old format scam. Be careful everyone these fage pages with little followers are obvious to be scam pages but we'll never know how many gullible ones might fall for it.

Greed as nothing to do with fake it's more of lack of knowledge and it is actually ignorance just the way you have started it and there is more challenges when it comes to education in crypto currency because of the lack of information people are falling victim for this hoodlums and they keep discovering new way just to scam people and this issue of fake sites have been in existence now for a very long time, and the most used channel to scam is actually Facebook and twitter and worse of them all is telegram and that is why we have to be very mindful of what we see on channels and we then click on them, and the issue of zero fees is what is attracting people and even if they want zero fee why not make proper confirmation first before agreeing to make use of it amd the more we watch out for this things the more we save our selfs from more problems, and binance have been doing zero fee for bep20 for some time now and there fee is actually fair enough, and social media is one thing that we have to be very mindful of in what ever we are doing. We as experienced users know about this scam and won't be scammed, but newbies are vulnerable and they even don't know about phishing sites. It's surprising that in the last few days, I reported a lot of such advertisments, Meta keept silently with my reports. Only today I received 5 notifications from them, and you know, they simply announced as follows Quote We didn’t remove the ad It takes a long time for answers, that are bad than my expectation. Thanks again for your report. But since more newbies are going here than the SA section, I'm posting it here. Otherwise, the mods are free to move it. Yes, I think it a malware app. When I saw maybe it link use facebook ads to promoted right?Be careful of fake Binance desktop app. No matter how genuine the website looks, it can never get my attention because the red spot is clear to see, first don't trust any ads being promoted with high profits promises, secondly social media sponsored ads are mostly fake sites and hidden under the genuine real platform to fraud their victims so be careful with sponsored ads that put themselves in your face while surfing the Internet. Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: DubemIfedigbo001 on December 28, 2024, 11:02:02 AM Nice one mate. more reason everyone should pay good attention to the URL of any site they are patronizing. Good thing is that no two sites would bear the same domain name which removes the issue of double domain name and leaves the hackers or scammers with no other option that to employ convincing prefixes or suffixes to the domain names. No one can ever go so wrong if they get less greedy with tempting offers and validate URLs before having any dealing with any sites, even familiar ones. This is the era of different scams in different forms, so extra caution needs to be put in place for personal online security and I believe URL awareness can save us a whole lot if we are really attentive to it
Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: JiiBs on December 28, 2024, 10:20:28 PM They just added the word “-desktop” to the original Binance URL, but if you don’t look closely, you could easily fall for the scam, especially when it’s promoted on social media or YouTube in a way that looks enticing. My suggestion is to always bookmark the official Binance website to avoid any confusion that could end up being costly. What is Binance itself doing about this? Isn’t this coming to there notice at the very least or having reports from victims or something. Of course it ain’t there site but, they could at least file a report to companies running these ads and YouTube to take it down.Binance also released a warning about phishing websites like this, which you can check out below. This is some of the things ads blockers could save you from. People can’t be all that careful you know and it’s a little clever way to put up there schemes, one that could sway users from having any suspicion. Title: Re: Beware: Fake Binance desktop app Post by: SamReomo on December 28, 2024, 11:06:49 PM Some people will not listen. It is as simple as download the Binance app from the official website. All exchanges also works like that. If you access the exchanges on the web, you will see where you can download their apps when you are about to login. All these are easy to avoid but some people are just novice. I don't think that it's even needed to download any such applications even if they're 100% legit. I personally trade using my laptop and it has an external display connected and for me website based interface of all exchanges is more than enough and I can do trade on the website versions without any issues. I believe the website versions are safe and are way better than the application versions. I know for smartphone users it's better to download an exchange's app as that's easier to use than the web version but for desktop and laptop users the applications aren't needed at all because trading can be done without such applications. |
