I was thinking about cryptocurrencies this morning and I discovered the first cryptocurrency which is bitcoin be the king among other cryptocurrencies,  when you hodl bitcoin for long periods or short period of time, there is a hope of favour either small or big when you are about to sell, Some people have lose hope on some cryptocurrencies based on what they have experienced from them, that made them to lose hope in earning income from them, but it will be difficult to see people losing hope in bitcoin hodling because it always keep increasing in every bull season that appear which this season is an evidence of what bitcoin will display to be the king among other cryptocurrencies. I will not lose hope in hodling bitcoin because it will always going to increase higher and higher in the future, hope you will not loose hope in hodling bitcoin?

Future is unpredictable and not a guarantee.

People that lose hope in holding their Bitcoin investment are those that lose confidence in it. Losing confidence in holding your Bitcoin investment it means that you have lost encouragement probably because you decided to be investing on your own without any community involvement because that can really help. for instance, it will be more difficult for someone who is an active member of this forum to become completely discouraged about Bitcoin than someone who is not a member of any community that talks about Bitcoin but just investing on their own personally out of their own knowledge and being their own motivation.

People didn't believe in bitcoin, so they sold it in 2011, 2014, 2017, and so on.

The future is not a guarantee so it's all in our decision whether you want to take the risk or sell and back to the old centralized banking system for your payments.

Till this moment there are people who has given up there investment plan in Bitcoin just because of the experienced they had in one shity crypto project out there but the thing is, it is not advisable for any potential investor to get discouraged in starting up his Bitcoin acumulation just as he or she planned because of what he faced in other projects that are not Bitcoin itself, though it is not easy when someone lose his or her hard earned money in some shitty crypto project but if am to advise I think going for the most trusted digital wealth which is Bitcoin is the best.

Bitcoin has a very encouraging history and that's why it is good for an intending investor or someone that have had something to do with some pump and dump projects should go through the history and the reoccurring seasonal events of Bitcoin nvestment may be it could be a motivation for him or her to let go of the past to face the main thing.

Peoples were also still didn't believe in bitcoin because they were thinking there is not a guarantee for future and that's why they were also solding their bitcoin.

Bitcoin increases every period, depending on the action that causes it to rise and not just at the bull season. During bearish periods, there's a little hike but it's not as much as compared to the bull. Take for instance, in January of last year when the ETFs were approved, Bitcoin price experienced a huge surge and then we haven't witnessed the bull run, so instead of attributing it's growth only to when we experience the bull season, it's better to say Bitcoin is regarded as king amongst other crypto currencies when there is a price increase and that even with the tragedies it has experienced over the years, its still standing strong.

The thoughts of losing hope in Bitcoin will not cross your mind if you have a good grasp of Bitcoin and why you aim to achieve with it. If your knowledge and experience with Bitcoin is low, losing hope will be part of the package. It was said that if you understand your why, you can endure any how. Yeah because Bitcoin already proving it's always profitable if we hold it at least for 4 years.

Holding other coins high likely will lose, even we've hold it for 4 years when Bitcoin is bullish, altcoins not always will break the previous ATH.

It is not always like this. People have many reasons to sell bitcoin like they think it's good time to sell it, mandatory and unavoiable selling demand by having urgent need of money, want to outsmart the market by timing the market, finding absolute chance to take profit at ATH and wait for bottom price to reenter, and many things like using leverages, futures trading for possibly better profit and get liquidated eventually.

Future is uncertain for everyone and it's easier by looking backwards and say something but future is hard to predict. You must have very good strategy for your financial management, and make sure that your life won't be broken if something very bad happens with Bitcoin.

Of course every investors will always pray for the price of bitcoin to keep increasing the more as time goes on, so as to enable them get a huge return in thier Future investment. but one thing you need to know is that you can't possibly predict the future, maybe you can just make exaggeration on the future of bitcoin but you can't predict exactly how the future of bitcoin is going to look like maybe in 2years coming.

Of course no one can tell how the crypto market is going to look like probably in the next 2years, so what we need to do right now is to keep doing the HODL  and at same time hoping for the price to increase in the future.

Loosing hope in investing on bitcoin is of those who thought of making quick rich while invested on bitcoin otherwise, bitcoin has been a trust worth source of investment that will always bring it investors good remarks of profits.
Either loosing hope on bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies is as results of not getting what you expected without your endeavors of understanding the potential values and strengths of the coin.

Well, I personally still use banks, here we can't separate from bank system. As long as the law in your country can't legalize Bitcoin or altcoins to be the payment tools, there is no way that we can fully use crypto coins in every aspect in daily life.

Knowledge and understanding are a must for those who have high hopes for Bitcoin and besides that they must have strong faith and patience to run it, and all of that must be done at the beginning when you start it and most importantly you must know that Bitcoin is a promising long-term investment and you must also know that the price of Bitcoin continues to increase from time to time even though there is always a decline but in the end it increases again even beyond its highest price. Before Bitcoin, there are some cryptocurrencies: DigiCash, CyberCash, E-gold, HashCat, Bit-Gold, B-money, and Bittorent.

Selling is an activity to get money in cash or stable coin from your bitcoin. The market needs to have both buyers and sellers so what will happen with market if there are only buyers and no sellers?

It's funny to write this, because if there are seller, buyers can not buy bitcoin and there are no buyer too. Don't feel bad when there are sellers in the market, and they are contributing to the market by selling bitcoin at prices they see good.

altcoin basically just follows bitcoin, _{and will continue to do so}... because of that, it makes the price of cryptocurrency tend to move following the movement of bitcoin-- when the price of bitcoin goes up it will tend to go up, and when the price of bitcoin goes down it will tend to go down. that's why bitcoin is lower risk and lower volatility compared to cryptocurrency because it has a good future and is widely recognized and accepted as a store of value by more people. so for that reason for people who hold bitcoin in the long term then they will not regret it because the value will move up.

The cryptocurrency space is evolving daily and Bitcoin is one of the currencies that's stands with a difference with a pioneering force in the crypto industry.Other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum,Litecoin and other new cryptocurrency alternatives but none of these surpasses the impact of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin and Crytocurrencies/Alts are two different things. The evolution of Bitcoin resulted in countless number of coins that we call today cryptocurrencies or Alts. Now whats important to understand is that these Alts can't have price pattern comparable with Bitcoin. The main reason of this is that Bitcoin is the only thing that is fully decentralised and rest of tokens are not. There is a community backing Bitcoin which is developed over a period of time. Alts are just for few months while bitcoin is for long term. 

Having high hope on Bitcoin which is a crypto currency is not actually safe because it's not even one hundred percent guarantee because the price fluctuate every seconds. However it's preferable to keep our hope on bitcoin and not on alt/shitcoins because those are kind of worse coins in the crypto space that one would invest money into. Moreover wanting to make money through Bitcoin investment must first become patient to hodl your crypto assets for long term so you can make a decent profit through it. A short term investment or investors are not different from crypto traders because from my observation those only hold/trade for 7 days longevity of holding/trading.

The point right now is that for many adopters, Bitcoin isn't profitable enough for their taste, so they put all their hopes  and expectations on altcoins, since they were promised such cryptos have potential to rise 100x or 1000x in price. These investors are looking for overnight profits with potential to turn 10$ into 10,000$ without any effort.

And if you try explaining them that is not how you build wealth, and that investors have to be patient and focus their plans on long term, they completely lose interest. For them, if the investment doesn't bring huge returns on short run, it doesn't worth.

As consequence, those investors keep falling for scammers, putting small amounts of money into pump dump or ponzi schemes. Meanwhile, Bitcoin brings positive results along the years, despite it doesn't fluctuating crazily anymore.

the reason why they lose hope on these cryptocurrency is because they never believed bitcoin is the best to hodl, had it been they choose bitcoin first they wouldnt have the worse experience they had. it is very risky to neglect bitcoin and go for other coins that are not reliable to invest. it is lack of understanding that makes some people to lose hope in bitcoin, thinking the price of bitcoin is too high for them to invest, and they pick shitcoin to invest hoping to make good profit from it and after sometime most of these coins gets crashed in the market.

bitcoin is very profitable and safe to invest, it is a coin that is good to invest for longtime and some people lacks patience to hodl it and go for others just because they want to make money quick from it.

I think people have learned a lesson from this bull season that made bitcoin price to hit $100k which is an evidence that will make people not to be worry when they are hodling bitcoin than to have hope in their hodling, The price will definitely rise higher in 2026 because people are still expecting another price that will make people to be more confident on bitcoin.

There are people who have also lost hope in Bitcoin because they entered the market with wrong impressions and misinformation; they see it as something that can give them quick profit but get disappointed by what they get. If you are a short-time holder, profit is not always guaranteed.

There are times when Bitcoin suffers a great bearish market, and if someone who is not prepared for such purchases Bitcoin and gets hit by that without knowing that it's normal for Bitcoin, they can react negatively to such market behaviour.

Well, not everyone who sold the Bitcoin they've been holding for a long time did so because they lost confidence in Bitcoin. Some people already had it in their plan that they would sell at a particular time, and some already have a particular amount of profit in mind. Among other cryptocurrencies bitcoin more volatile than others, and from experienced bitcoin gives more rise than other coins, so I know quite well that bitcoin falls and a regain it's balance but other coins like altcoins can't fall and regain it fits, so why bitcoin is the most strongest coin among others cryptocurrency is because it has influenced and also has traffic from my understanding of cryptocurrency, why other altcoins when they fall it took them time to resurrect its because they don't have influenced like bitcoin. The influence I'm emphasizing on is the market cap.

As long as bitcoin’s value continue to appreciates, you will never lose if you are hodling patiently. But if you are here just for quick profits, bitcoin won’t guarantee sure profits in short term. However, the future is still uncertain for bitcoin. We don’t know what will be it’s future price most especially that bitcoin is so much volatile. But rest assured, if massive adoption will come to realization, bitcoin will certainly be a life-changer in the end.

Regardless of what investment you are in, losing is always possible. Most especially for bitcoin where future cannot be certain. However, the safest option for bitcoin is through hodling it, and just decide to sell when profits are excellent, that is if bitcoin price will continue to surge high in the future. Bitcoin is different from altcoins because Bitcoin is the only the cryptocurrency that can be trusted to not disappear after some years like how many cryptocurrency has being disappearing after they're done getting all the hypes in the world form influences that were paid to hype the projects. most of the people that I know that participate in the web3 craze mostly also invest into other coins but at the end they'd all convert it to bitcoin to increase their bitcoin holding because they see it as the real end game in cryptoworld where when it takes off, it can easily go as high as $1 million per bitcoin within a decade.

bitcoin has shown its strength over time especially in bull markets. While no investment is guaranteed, history suggests bitcoin tends to grow in value long term. I'll keep hodling with patience and a clear strategy.

The thing is that Bitcoin is the real deal.

Any other altcoins is centralized, and was created most certainly for a person or a group of people that want to make easy money from people that want to make easy money.

It's kind of ironic, but in the end, the only people who end up earning easy money with altcoins is usually the people who started them, not the people buying it.

Yes, we have to accept that Bitcoin is the most reliable and trusted currency. There are still many people who have suffered losses by investing in altcoins and have yet to recover. But in the case of Bitcoin, if someone invests at any price and holds for a long time, they must have been able to make a profit. What makes bitcoin a lot different from other coins is that even if it is not in the bull cycle, it is not crashing either. It may not be reaching record all time highs but it is also not dipping to worryingly prices. Bitcoin holders know that patience is the key here and we will all be rewarded in the future so even if some people may be affected with FUD, there are still those who remain strong and are not moved by FUD.

So for the upcoming bear cycle, buy as much as you can and take advantage of the low prices instead of being scared that this will be the last of bitcoin.

You shouldn't hodl for a short time if you have hope in Bitcoin. Although investing in Bitcoin has been profitable for many investors for a long time; it's advisable to use the DCA method for accumulation and invest and hold Bitcoin for a long time. You cannot invest in Bitcoin for a short time and expect a big return; if the price of Bitcoin continues to drop, you could lose everything in that short time. For that reason, it is very risky to make a short-term investment.

However, many individuals have given up on holding Bitcoin in the past, and I do not doubt that this is not going to discourage others. The market changes are going to lead more people to sell their holdings and later regret it. Although beliefs on Bitcoin holdings are different, anyone with good knowledge about cryptocurrency can never sell their holdings because of price movements. Bitcoin is preferable compared to all other investments, but it depends on your own choices.

If they want to invest in besides of Bitcoin, they must research deeper to find the right altcoin. If they can not analyze and research for the right altcoin, they don't have to risk their fund to invest on that coin and stick to Bitcoin will be better for them. But if they choose altcoin, they must realize with the risk behind of investing in altcoin so they must be careful to select the coin. We can not tell them to follow us by investing in Bitcoin because that will be personal decision. We can only suggest them to invest in Bitcoin and always research before they decide.

There is always a window to invest in alts - however, the main part of any portfolio, basically, should be BTC.
Because the bigger part of the portfolio should be reliable and stable, as far as it can be done.

If you invest in Bitcoin and keep it in your wallet for long-term holding, one day you will see its profit and you will not be able to believe your luck. The amount of Bitcoin you hold today will give you a hundred times more profit after 10 years. I also invest in some altcoins like ETH and BNB, and it is quite profitable. But of course, when it talks about uncertainties, it is different with bitcoin, especially if we talk about long-term deals. Bitcoin has already shown its progressive growth for many years, which is enough to think it will stay long.

70% of my crypto investment is Bitcoin, and 30% is allocated to altcoins. I believe this looks good.

Anyway, investing is not all about choosing coins but also about how we manage them. I would say that it is not just like buy and hold. We also need to learn how to sell them in perfect timing.

Digicash was a payments corporation that used encryption and "blind signatures" (but still, not on a blockchain) and Cybercash was a payments service that leveraged cryptography and had a micro coin named "cybercoin", though the double spend problem put them under after Y2K.

B-money and BitGold were both similar concepts, however they never actually widely implemented but definitely per-cursor research to BTC. Thus, Bitcoin was the first to actually put cryptocurrency on the Blockchain. I understand the history behind it, though many can have ideas, not as many can execute. Without taking credit away from history as they played their role in the creation of Bitcoin, Bitcoin is the first invented reality of a cryptocurrency on a Blockchain.

bitcoin's history proves it survives market cycles and i see it as a long term asset rather than a quick profit scheme. Holding with patience has often rewarded investors so I stay focused on the bigger picture.

Bitcoin is safer than alts but that doesn't mean investing in bitcoin is risk-free and there is no guarantee that bitcoin will give you 100x returns in the next 10 years. Although bitcoin has become popular and legalized in many countries but things can still reverse at any time, we should not be subjective because nothing is 100% certain when it comes to the future. So bitcoin is very safe but don't be naive to think that it is absolutely safe and will definitely give you huge returns in the next 10 years.

In short: we should invest in bitcoin instead of altcoins but don't be foolish enough to put all your eggs in one basket and think bitcoin is risk-free. The solution is to diversify into non-bitcoin assets.

One thing we should understand is that there are crypto experts that perfectly understands that Bitcoin is the safest coin to invest but still prefers to invest with altcoins especially daily traders. I thought this was about Bitcoin and not just its price. But, yeah, there's nothing to worry about as far as Bitcoin's price is concerned. So far, it hasn't failed us. Even if Bitcoin price is too high for them, they could still buy Bitcoin using small money and hold it for some years. But no problem if they still want to invest in altcoin but they must research before they choose the altcoin. People think they can outsmart the markets but they rarely do. Bitcoin is the market. Alts are casino chips. Well, no doubt we are in the first quarter of 2025 and there is a long way to go in this year and in this bull season but short terms there are a lot of bearish news that is adding pressure on the markets. HODL is such a nice strategy, but only if you have the right plan. Like I have my own experience if you want to do an investment for the long term and you don't have any good plan, then maybe you can't catch up to such a good yield as compared to someone who has a HODL plan, i.e when to take an entry and when to take an exit (mini 5-10 years). So we all need to understand that Bitcoin investment is good, but making a plan with a smart mindset is good. Having a plan for long-term investment always bring up zero tolerance for concern. Because in the short term Bitcion goes up and down due to volatility. So that why HODL called the safe way drive....

So littrely your point is right we should not lose hope on holding because it always give us effective result. But at the same time, you have to make a plan, and then holding strategy can give you a full array of dominant upshots.

I agree with you about risk of investment in altcoins but people are free to use their money and do their research on Bitcoin and altcoin projects for knowing more about those projects and have their own belief or disbelief in those projects.

Most altcoins fail and die with time, but if your logic is applied with Bitcoin like in 2009 or 2010, it's earliest years, there would have been no people who wanted to bet their money with bitcoin, and Bitcoin adoption would have not begin years ago. People who spent money in Bitcoin in earliest years are either intelligent investors or just purely gamblers but the fact is their contributions to Bitcoin adoption growth. I don't just have interest to invest in other altcoins again since 2022 after I experienced some failed investment from a few altcoins that I invested on. Despite that I didn't invest in any altcoin as of then, it didn't stop me from buying Bitcoin, because Bitcoin is more firm than those pump and dump shitcoins which one can not even determine how long and when the price can dump and never surge again.

It's because of that effects why many altcoins hasn't seen sunshine of bull run since Bitcoin has been running. I agree with your statement that Bitcoin has been the most successful cryptocurrency so far. It's also true that many people have lost hope in other altcoins due to their volatility and lack of stability.
However, I don't think it would be wise to say "it will always go up" as we've seen significant drops in its price over the years too. There are several factors affecting BTC prices such as regulations by governments around world (e.g., China), geopolitical tensions between countries like Russia vs Ukraine war etc.. These events can cause sudden changes in supply/demand dynamics leading into sharp declines followed by recovery later down line depending upon how things play out globally at given moment.

In the past we heard stories of people who felt deeply frustrated because they couldn't get out their profit after they sold off properties and assets and invested heavily in Bitcoin. They couldn't endure dump that came after they invested and felt all was lost. They hurriedly sold off in loss to cut their losses short. So, it's not completely risk free for investment in Bitcoin. There's always a risk lurking somewhere in every business. It's just that with Bitcoin, patience is all that's needed to wait out a loss and regain one's capital and some profit made.

It will have to be in a very long time to come. That's if it will get to that point where the market becomes deeply saturated and volatility dies off.

Its still need hype but in good way since there are certain good events that can hype people and increase their wants to buy Bitcoin. But we cannot deny the fact that this is majority want and people don't want to missed to have some Bitcoins that's why this is most preferred coin to have.

I saw many users losing hope after BTC fell slightly and started selling their BTC to avoid further losses. However, they did not know about the strategy here. The time when BTC starts dropping is a golden chance to invest because BTC will soon come back again and rise from the falling points, as shown in several past events. These kinds of people are very weak in decision-making and won't tolerate any losses. If you can't tolerate losses and your decision-making ability is weak, then how can you hold and earn from BTC, as it is volatile assets.

Weak hands will always exist, even in the BTC space.
They should work harder on their analysis and knowledge to not let the price dips discourage them so much..

In business the most important reason is to make profit that's why we involve in it. Although at times there can be lost in business also but the failure we encounter in it should not make us quit. The lost could be as a result of mismanagement or other related factors. Same is also  applicable in Bitcoin, once good approach is used in Bitcoin I think the chances of losing is minimal. The bare truth that many people dare not admit is that most of them come to bitcoin for profit purposes, its high volatility can help them gain better returns than other investments, not its decentralized nature. Yeah you are right Bitcoin can never be compared to any other crypto coin, if you check the history growth of Bitcoin it is always growing but other coin those not have such good history growth like Bitcoin, I remember when a friend of mine decided to invest in a particular crypto coin Years back because according to him Bitcoin is too expensive and he needed a coin that he will grow with a coin that will one day become big like Bitcoin recently he told me he regret not investing in Bitcoin that the crypto coin he invested on is a failure and has not made a good improvement since he started accumulating and holding it he said he has sold all of it and has invested  in Bitcoin, it is not hiding anymore everyone knows that bitcoin investment is the best investment when it comes to crypto the reason why you see some set of people are not investing in Bitcoin is because they think bitcoin is expensive why some are people who are not patient because when it comes to bitcoin investment you most be patient especially if you want to become a Bitcoin investor, if you can be patient and consistent you will benefit massively from Bitcoin.

Risk wise? I wouldn't say you are wrong but Bitcoin has a risk. The only investment on earth that doesn't have a risk is a scam and quick to rich investment that doesn't last months. Bitcoin has a risk but it's avoidable as long as you didn't sell below the price you bought it, as long as you hold it in a safe wallet. If you don't hold Bitcoin in a better wallet like hardware wallet, you Bitcoin risk been hack and you can lose everything, that's the least risk I think you can get with Bitcoin but like I said, it's avoidable.

So big companies will get interest in it. All the founders want to make good money. Because every year, the price of Bitcoin is increasing very quickly.

Bitcoin is a great crypto coin and through out this year's it has been trust worthy and investing in Bitcoin is really a good one, for me the reason I trust, invest and believe so much in Bitcoin is not because is the first or oldest crypto coin to exist but because of it progress and decentralized nature and I also believe this decentralized nature has made a lot of people invest in Bitcoin.
There was a time when Bitcoin was just $1 and now is $100k meaning that Bitcoin is something or asset that can be trusted, those who have been accumulating and investing in Bitcoin for 6 now with consistency are enjoying it now, there are people who rejected to invest in Bitcoin when Bitcoin was just $1k and today they are regretting seriously.

Bitcoin is the best among all the crypto currencies in the market, and also bitcoin is the most profitable coin in the long run aside from bitcoin I have never seen any other crypto currencies that can be held for long term investment. And yes, if not for bitcoin investment I don't think if  this crypto market would have gain this population, if the total number of people in this crypto space is 100 I'm pretty sure that almost 90% are only interested in bitcoin investment because that's the only investment that is less risky with zero stress, I can't imagine how this crypto space would look like without bitcoin in it, alot of people would have dive into other business/ investment instead of taking unnecessary risk by investing in this shitcoin and meme coin.

I will not say it is impossible to get x10 profit with bitcoin, indeed getting rich with bitcoin is very difficult for us to get now but that does not mean that it is over for long-term investors because it is likely that the price of bitcoin will continue to grow in the future, the Crypto market has been different from before because indirectly the Crypto market has now followed the global economy so that when the global economy is chaotic it will often also result in a decrease in the price of bitcoin unlike before where if the global economy was in chaos it did not have a big effect on the price of bitcoin but instead would make the price of bitcoin continue to increase as we saw in the Covid-19 era in 2021 and the average investor at that time was able to get a return of x10 or even more than that.

I have heard of newbies giving up on Bitcoin on several occasions due to their expectations being let down, from what they were being told about Bitcoin from people who introduced them to Bitcoin investment, that Bitcoin would give them quick gains. They end up seeing nothing of such, but rather a loss of investment they see.

I can't advise anybody to invest long-term in any altcoin. Time and again, I've been proven right in this. If anybody wants to take a risk in altcoins, it should be short-term nd take profit immediately they can.
If you look at the top 10 altcoins, if I'm not mistaken, only Solana has passed its previous ATH recently. People who bought Ethereum when it was $3500 are still waiting to get their capital at least back, not to mention making a profit, that's if they can wait that long. Most would have sold at a loss and cut their losses. People who took profit at $4500 are the winners in Ethereum.

There may be good altcoins out there, but I've not seen one that is as good as a long-term investment. Invest short term, if you know what you're doing, take profit and move.

BTC has gotten to a couple of different ATHs from its ATH of $69k in 2021, from the last quarter of last year till now. From that December last year till now, only Solana and BNB have broken new ATHs. What's funnier is that both these coins have currently fallen below that ATH currently and are struggling to catch up again, while bitcoin has been reaching new ATHs in the past 6 months.

For your question, Bitcoin is about 3k away from getting a new ATH. Currently, it might either go down or up. From my observation, it will go down because 109k seems like a resistance, but if it does go up, we might be seeing a new ATH in the next couple of weeks, yet I doubt those altcoins will reach a new ATH.

Only someone that do not have patients will sell their coin because of the fear of losses. Even though Bitcoin depreciate, it will skyrocket again in no distance time. However people that sell when the market is low are short term investors, a long term investor will not always keep an eye on the market, they might only do so when they want to buy and after then they forget about the market, may be ones awhile they chack but they don't get panicked to sell when market is low.

A person who loses hope usually does not have a target in life and maybe most people find a solution for the investment achievements that are carried out in bitcoin. Everyone has the same hope in bitcoin but what makes the difference is the level of consistency in collecting even though it is sometimes limited to the capital owned. Bitcoin can be purchased in any amount so that everyone can take part to start and sometimes we don't find this in other investments because it requires large capital.

You also claim that holding long-term means less risk and that profits are guaranteed, even pointing to the big institutional players getting involved.  That seems like a bold statement given that Bitcoin can still be pretty volatile.  Just because some big shots are finally putting money in doesnt necessarily mean your personal guarantee is air tight.  You are betting things will follow a certain pattern, but nothings absolute. There is no "guarantee" of any kind.

You can get a minus both on BTC and smaller alts too - the difference being that smaller coins are much more susceptible to the manipulations.

Bigger caps - not so much, but they are not as idealistic as BTC, and they go for profits more than BTC.

Talking about losing hope, some people have lost hope in Bitcoin because of its volatility.
