Title: Places where you can travel paying with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: d5000 on June 27, 2025, 04:58:50 AM I was thinking about good options to spend Bitcoin and international travelling is a quite obvious one: You don't have to care about currency exchange (at least not that much), and in many cases you bring precious Bitcoins into circulation to places away from the main tech metropoles.
Thus I start this thread to gather a list of cities and other places where you can travel with Bitcoin. The idea is that those who want can post cities and towns, be it in their own country or in locations where they have been, or whatever, where there is some Bitcoin acceptance. And add a photo from every location so the thread becomes a bit "visual" too ;) The idea is to show cities, towns and resorts where you can pay for your main expenses with BTC. There should be at least accomodation (hotels, apartments ...) and places to eat (restaurants, bars, fastfood etc.) which accept Bitcoin. Places with shops and ATMs are even better. Resources to check are for example BTCmap (https://btcmap.org/), Coinpages (https://coinpages.io), and of course search engines, ChatGPT and friends etc. Important: If you want to travel to these places spending your BTC, double check the hotels and restaurants still exist and still offer Bitcoin payment. Let's start with: Buenos Aires, Argentina https://talkimg.com/images/2025/06/27/Uu9kGW.jpeg Credits: Public domain image A vibrant metropolis with an immense cultural scene, and home to several Bitcoiners too. The long history of inflation and unstability has made Argentina one of the countries with most Bitcoin ownership in the Americas, and thus it's not surprising there are some hotels and restaurants you can pay with BTC. One can almost speak about a "Bitcoin district" in the city center, where you can find a Bitcoin-accepting shop in almost every block, and in total there are around 100 Bitcoin-accepting businesses. You can find restaurants, bars, Bitcoin ATMs, some few places for acommodation and shops at BTCMap here (https://btcmap.org/map#13/-34.58708/-58.41053). The image shows Floralis Generica, a moving sculpture located in a big park, the perhaps most unique attraction of the city. San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina https://talkimg.com/images/2025/06/27/Uu9YbC.jpeg Credits: Fulviusbsas @ Wikimedia Commons, CC-BY-SA license The city of Tucumán has about a million inhabitants and lies on the foot of jungle-covered mountains called the Yungas. It's a great place to explore Northwestern Argentina and has a lot of historic buildings, close to Salta, the Rio Hondo spas and the Quilmes pre-columbian city. This is actually the only interesting place in Argentina outside of the capital Buenos Aires where I have found both accomodation and food with payment in Bitcoin. The BTCmap location is here (https://btcmap.org/map#13/-26.81618/-65.21364). Tucumán has about 20 businesses accepting Bitcoin, which is quite good for a city off the beaten track! In Argentina you can also buy some gift cards with Bitcoin at Bitrefill, for example for the Carrefour and Dia supermarkets (at least Carrefour is present in both cities and many others too) and also some restaurants. See Bitrefill Argentina (https://www.bitrefill.com/ar/es/gift-cards/). Now it's your turn ... know a city or town where you can pay with BTC in at least one place both for food and accomodation? Post it here :) Title: Re: Places where you can travel with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: Merit.s on June 27, 2025, 05:22:45 AM Berlin in Germany
Berlin in Germany is the unofficial Bitcoin capital of Europe because many businesses accepts bitcoin payments. Cafes and restaurants in Kreuzberg accepts bitcoin payments. Boutique and hotels in Berlin accepts bitcoin. Germany is a crypto friendly country and support cryptocurrency. https://talkimg.com/images/2025/06/27/Uu9rag.jpeg https://www.spendo.com/blog/using-bitcoin-in-germany Title: Re: Places where you can travel with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: peter0425 on June 27, 2025, 05:56:34 AM Now it's your turn ... know a city or town where you can pay with BTC in at least one place both for food and accomodation? Post it here :) I will tell you what place you can't expect to use bitcoin in and that would be the Philippines. Do not get me wrong, I think we have a lot of bitcoiners here and we have a very solid and active community in forums such as this one but I do not think I have seen a lot of establishments here that offer to accept bitcoin. And most stores would most likely not accept bitcoin. Especially small businesses. It would even be worse if you visit rural areas away from the capital city. We do not have a clear regulation about crypto as of now.There have been mentions of few stores that do accept bitcoin, such as the night bar URBN QC in Quezon City, Draper Startup House in Makati City, and niche retailer KosneyLand located inside a mall in Mandaluyong City. (https://www.bworldonline.com/sparkup/2023/06/12/527873/more-than-400-small-businesses-in-the-philippines-accept-bitcoin-payments-fintech-firm/#google_vignette) But you see, these are three different cities hence why I do not really think bitcoin will be as well accepted everywhere in this country. I think we should only submit places where we have been to so the stories we share actually come from personal experiences. Any filipinos or tourists that have visited my country and was able to use bitcoin anywhere, correct me and let me know! I hope this does not discourage anyone going to the Philippines lol but this is my personal experience. What are you going to do? Spend the bitcoin and save the fiat? That's not to mention that if you want to spend with bitcoin the options you're going to have to consume goods and services are going to be much reduced.
If you are hungry you can choose any of the restaurants on the street you are in if you are going to pay with fiat, while if you intend to pay only with bitcoin you will have to look in coinmap and you might have to go to the other side of the city. You are your own boss, and even though fiat would be preferable for all of these actions and activities, BTC as an option is what is beautiful about it. Switzerland is the first country that comes to my mind, and it is popularly tagged as a Crypto-friendly country in terms of regulations. Switzerland, as we know, is always open for business, so I am not surprised about being friendly to Bitcoin, for they are innovative. Bitcoins' direct payment in stores and luxury boutiques is more common, and retail stores and restaurants easily accept Bitcoin payments. It's more interesting to say that Zug and Zurich have "Crypto Valley," which is unique, as not many countries have such. Many may not know this: The Canton of Zug in Switzerland has served the government in various services payments in Bitcoin, including for tax, since 2016. The same goes for Ticino, Zurich, Commune of Zermatt etc, which follow the path afterwards. Title: Re: Places where you can travel with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: BitGoba on June 27, 2025, 09:03:19 AM If you're a Bitcoin enthusiast looking to travel and spend your sats with ease, here are three destinations where Bitcoin especially over the Lightning Network is widely accepted.
1. Lugano, Switzerland Lugano is one of the most Bitcoin-friendly cities in the world. Thanks to the “Plan ₿” initiative, Lightning payments are accepted almost everywhere from kiosks and cafes to restaurants and even public services. You can even pay with Bitcoin at two McDonald’s locations in the city. Lugano is truly a model city for Bitcoin adoption. 2. Madeira, Portugal Madeira, an autonomous region of Portugal, is another hidden gem for Bitcoiners. The local government is openly supportive of Bitcoin, and there’s a growing number of merchants accepting Lightning payments. The beautiful landscape, friendly atmosphere, and tax advantages make Madeira a top destination for Bitcoin users. 3. El Salvador El Salvador made history by becoming the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender. While it’s not yet universally accepted across the country, there are still many places especially in tourist areas and Bitcoin Beach , where you can pay with Bitcoin and Lightning. Or there are some countries where I can't travel to with my Bitcoin? Because normally nobody suppose to know.
And is it even wise to visit a foreign country and start vsisting stores to pay with Bitcoin while shopping? Isn't that supposed to be dangerous? There is one thing I don't like about foreign countries, it's never your country to begin with, there is minimal to everything you can do in every situation. I will be very careful and so good research on a country before going there and try spending money using Bitcoin, it's easier to get kidnapped if the public noticed that you are not from around there. If you go inside the Heart Attack Grill (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_Attack_Grill) on Fremont Street, you'll find one of my favorite Bitcoin ATMs of all-time. Nigeria might have been known to be a country filled with lots of vibes and, at the same time, have a national security issue that can't be ignored, but the city of Port Harcourt, which I have spent a lot of time in, is indeed a place where you can freely spend bitcoin in a few places. The country Nigeria also doesn't have any policies which restrict people from spending bitcoin; as long as you are not into any illegal activities, you are good to go. I can also recall making a thread about purchasing bitcoin from a physical bitcoin local exchange shop (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5428926.msg61446961#msg61446961) back then in the same city of Port Harcourt. I would like to visit El Salvador one day to see how things have improved under President Bukele and his very pro bitcoin-friendly policies. I would visit not only for travel but also for an educational experience. Perhaps going on a guided tour to learn about some of the history and culture of the country would be interesting. In my college days I did study a bit about the history of El Salvador and its relationship with the Untied States and the IMF. Let's just say the history of the country is not very pretty and rather sad. One of the places where I can add is Ljubljana, Slovenia. It is a small capital city, but it is very modern and crypto friendly. There are such cafes as Bitcoin Cafe where you can obviously pay using BTC, there were also a couple of hotels and hostels that allowed paying with it, such as BitCenter Hotel. https://talkimg.com/images/2025/06/28/UuDQCl.jpeg Image from google Even certain coworking placess and souvenir stores are crypto ready. They actually get into the entire decentralization spirit. It has a beautiful, green and quite relaxing city, too, so it is a good place to go in case you require both technology and nature. I do agree with it however, it is always better to double check before you book, as some businesses will not accept BTC anymore when it is inconvenient to them. Nevertheless, it is pleasant that more and more places pick up. Title: Re: Places where you can travel with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: Riceandbean on June 29, 2025, 08:44:43 PM Singapore
is Actually Pretty Bitcoin-Friendly country If you're into crypto, Singapore is one of those places that really stands out. The government, through the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), has set up a clear framework for how crypto businesses can operate legally. That kind of regulatory clarity is rare in this space, and it gives exchanges and startups the confidence to build without constant fear of getting shut down. There’s no capital gains tax either, which is a nice bonus for crypto traders. Overall, Singapore strikes a good balance — they support innovation, but they also take compliance seriously. That’s why a lot of big names in the crypto world have set up shop there. https://i.postimg.cc/SxRGwymH/Singapore.png Title: Re: Places where you can travel with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: d5000 on June 29, 2025, 11:46:31 PM Let's move on to some lesser known locations of Europe:
Dresden, Germany https://talkimg.com/images/2025/06/30/UuqomN.jpeg Image credit: Bru-No at Pixabay (free use license) Known as the "Florence of the Elbe", Dresden in the south of Eastern Germany is known for several stunning historic buildings, like the Frauenkirche, one of Germany's finest baroque churches. There are also some very interesting art museums in the city. If you're more of an outdoor freak, you can visit the nearby Elbsandsteingebirge, a hilly forested region with interesting rock formations, ideal for trekking and spa tourism. It was surprising for me to see that Dresden has a really good number of Bitcoin-accepting businesses for a city of that size (500,000 inhabitants), more than nearby Leipzig which has a higher hipster population. There are several accomodation options as well as food, places to drink beer and even a bakery :) See BTCmap (https://btcmap.org/map#14/51.06246/13.75265). Another interesting fact is that in Germany you have gift cards from several supermarket chains you can re-fill directly with Bitcoin. I have checked Bali at BTCmap and there is at least one accomodation and several food businesses listed. So the entry of Bali here is OK. Maybe they circunvent the "payment prohibition" by simply declaring the transfer a barter. Normally everybody is free to exchange any (non-illegal) good for another good, and if one of these goods happens to be Bitcoin ... El Salvador, on the other side, is really a low hanging fruit :P , but okay it's of course welcome here too. I'd like to know more about specific destinations there ;) Title: Re: Places where you can travel with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: Riceandbean on June 30, 2025, 12:03:22 AM Hong Kong
While a lot of places around the world are getting stricter with crypto, Hong Kong still feels surprisingly open when it comes to Bitcoin. The local regulators have taken steps to build a proper licensing framework, so legit exchanges can actually operate without looking over their shoulder all the time. It’s not a free-for-all, but at least there are clear rules. OTC trading is still alive and well, and plenty of crypto firms keep offices there because of the city’s strong financial system, low taxes, and connection to the mainland. Things aren’t as wild as they used to be. https://i.postimg.cc/xjX8FRFf/kongkong.png https://i.postimg.cc/kXxnkhNm/hongkong-2.png https://i.postimg.cc/SsBhPWJR/hongkong-3.png Title: Re: Places where you can travel with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: ThemePen on June 30, 2025, 12:56:54 AM I can easily search online for places that accept Bitcoin but in my country it is still unclear Bitcoin is legal or not so there are not any places that accept it for payments or visits in my country. I never travel abroad or I personally did not visit any place which is accepting Bitcoin but I hope my country will soon announce official rules for crypto. Once that happens I am sure many businesses will start accepting Bitcoin and I will definitely visit those places.
Title: Re: Places where you can travel with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: Darker45 on June 30, 2025, 01:49:56 AM I think we should only submit places where we have been to so the stories we share actually come from personal experiences. I agree, and I'll be especially interested in those posts which do not simply copy some article about "Bitcoin places" from some crypto source but actually some personal recommendations :) Of course it is not necessary to have paid in BTC.Can you share some locations in the Phillipines you would recommend, and where you found accomodation and restaurants? Bitcoin-accepting restaurants, accommodation, spa, stores, and others are sparsely found across the country, but if you want a specific place where you can easily spend your Bitcoin on pretty much everything, it's gonna be Boracay Island or what they're now calling the Bitcoin Island. https://www.talkimg.com/images/2025/06/30/Uu0GuZ.png https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boracay#/media/File:Boracay_White_Beach.png I was there 2 or 3 years ago and, indeed, you can easily find 'Bitcoin accepted here' stickers all over the place. You can find a place to stay, eat, get a tattoo, have a haircut, grab a drink, get a massage, and everything else using Bitcoin. I forgot where the rest of my photos are, but here are some of them. They're not great photos, though. Nothing fancy. Was just walking around, quickly taking photos at those stickers. https://www.talkimg.com/images/2025/06/30/Uu0Fno.jpeg https://www.talkimg.com/images/2025/06/30/Uu0NvT.jpeg https://www.talkimg.com/images/2025/06/30/Uu0Egl.jpeg Title: Re: Places where you can travel with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: DaNNy001 on June 30, 2025, 02:34:43 AM Switzerland

Infact it's well known and even recognize that one of the biggest financial firms in the country offers client to trade and explore in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general which is sound statement to how Bitcoin is acceptable in the nation. Czech Republic- Prague. https://www.talkimg.com/images/2025/06/30/Uw2MNd.jpeg Photos form pixels https://www.talkimg.com/images/2025/06/30/Uw2GuI.jpeg Prague is a gold mine to Bitcoin tourists. The city is historic with its beautiful castles and pavement road, yet there is more of a shock as to the number of businesses that receive BTC. BTCmap states the existence of more than 150 businesses (hotels, hostels, restaurants, etc.). There are such opportunities to have a good Czech dinner (such as Restaurace U Ceske Lipe) or stay in a hostel friendly to BTC (such as Czech Inn). It is also easy to find some Bitcoin ATMs around the place where one can cash out on them in case of necessity. It has long been a tech-savvy city, and it is also highly walkable, and you can stroll around such iconic sights as the Charles Bridge and spend your BTC. El Salvador, San Salvador https://www.talkimg.com/images/2025/06/30/Uw2Fnq.jpeg Photos from google Since 2021, when El Salvador currency laws were updated to include Bitcoin as a national currency, the city of San Salvador is the crypto enthusiasts favorite destination. Hotels such as the Sheraton Presidente or smaller guest houses can be paid directly with Bitcoin as can many restaurants, both local pupusa stands and also high end places such as La Gastroteca. Approximately 50 companies are listed by BTCmap and there are more than 60 Bitcoin ATMs within the city. It is a bright city where the crypto scene is developing and one can explore such a symbolic place as the Metropolitan Cathedra. Title: Re: Places where you can travel with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: m2017 on June 30, 2025, 04:09:10 PM Thus I start this thread to gather a list of cities and other places where you can travel with Bitcoin. The idea is that those who want can post cities and towns, be it in their own country or in locations where they have been, or whatever, where there is some Bitcoin acceptance. And add a photo from every location so the thread becomes a bit "visual" too ;) When I saw the title of this topic, the first thought that came to my mind was "are there only certain places where you can travel with bitcoin?" After all, bitcoin allows to travel around the world without any restrictions (still). I understand the specifics of the topic being discussed here (the ability to pay with bitcoin directly without exchange), but I still wanted to note that with bitcoin you can travel anywhere where there is electricity and internet.Also, after looking through the posts in this topic, it is very noticeable that bitcoin is accepted most often in tourist places, in luxurious and expensive hotels and boutiques. That is, payment for bitcoin still remains something exotic and not for buying everyday items. In my opinion, this is more like a way to attract rich tourists with the famous slogan "bitcoin accepted here". Title: Re: Places where you can travel with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: dkbit98 on June 30, 2025, 09:01:46 PM I didn't see anyone mentioning this before but you can visit country Slovenia in Europe, and you will surely find many places that accept Bitcoin payments.
They even have one of the largest shopping center BTC-City in Ljubljana city with over 450 shops: https://www.btc-city.com/ Title: Re: Places where you can travel paying with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: d5000 on June 30, 2025, 10:44:04 PM One more in Europe, this time a well known travel destination:
Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain https://talkimg.com/images/2025/06/30/UwUjLz.jpeg Image credit: ChristianSchd, Xavier Badia Castellà, Amadalvarez, Balou46, CC-BY-SA 3.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0), via Wikimedia Commons Barcelona is one of the most vibrant non-capital cities in Europe. With historic and modern architecture -- with the well known Sagrada Familia church, one of the most impressive modern buildings in the world --, beaches, museums, lots of cultural venues, it is perfect for a city trip. There are several Bitcoin-accepting restaurants and at least three options for lodging, two of them in the city center and one in the outskirts. This photo shows a block with some of the finest architecture of the city, including a house remodeled by modernist architect Antonio Gaudí. BTCmap (https://btcmap.org/map#13/41.40083/2.16328) shows more than 50 Bitcoin-accepting shops in the city. @m2017: I changed the title a little bit to make it clearer. @dkbit98: Ljubliana has already been mentioned here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5548042.msg65530127#msg65530127), unfortunately by a newbie who couldn't embed images at that time, but now that they got 3 merits they could edit the post ;) @Kagaru if you're seeing this, you should now be able to embed your images into the post. Title: Re: Places where you can travel paying with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: Darker45 on July 01, 2025, 04:02:50 AM I haven't been to Costa Rica, but I have encountered countless of times posts, pictures, videos, stories, articles, and whatnot about people's Bitcoin experiences in that beautiful country.
I've read about the Bitcoin Beach Project in El Zonte in El Salvador, the Bitcoin City, the Bitcoin Island in my tiny nation, but there's also a Bitcoin Jungle Project in Costa Rica. The effort has the same goal: to try to create a circular Bitcoin economy. It's mainly focused in the Golden Triangle area of Puntarenas Province, particularly in the areas of Uvita, Dominical, Tinamaste, Ojochal, and Platanillo. Anyway, just in case nobody would post about this place here. There must be hundreds, if not thousands, of all kinds of businesses in that country that accept Bitcoin payments. Are we unfortunate enough here on the forum to have never been graced by a Costa Rican? https://www.talkimg.com/images/2025/07/01/UwaJka.jpeg https://puntarenas.com/ Title: Re: Places where you can travel with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: AbuBhakar on July 01, 2025, 11:19:59 AM Thus I start this thread to gather a list of cities and other places where you can travel with Bitcoin. That is, payment for bitcoin still remains something exotic and not for buying everyday items. In my opinion, this is more like a way to attract rich tourists with the famous slogan "bitcoin accepted here". One reason for that I can think of is rich people know that bitcoin is a real store of value. While some people below that line still thinks bitcoin is only a currency used by criminals and illegal activities. I say this because when I tell my friends and family about investing into bitcoin and crypto, they think I'm into some ponzi or illegal networking schemes. While if I talk it about to an open-minded person which is often rich or successful people, they know bitcoin is a good investment or asset to gave. One thing I noticed about this thread is that the places posted are mostly European countries. Travelling to those places could be expensive for someone that lives in Asia. Title: Re: Places where you can travel paying with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: Muba20 on July 01, 2025, 12:50:21 PM Rosewood Hong Kong
https://talkimg.com/images/2025/07/01/Uwdrqm.jpeg Rosewood Hong Kong (https://businesschief.asia/sustainability/asia-home-to-18-of-the-worlds-50-best-hotels), many may already know about this hotel, but I am telling you about this hotel here that it is one of the best hotels in Asia and if we compare it in the world, it can be placed in 2nd position. It is located near to Victoria Harbor. A big feature of this hotel is that both the sea and the skyline of the city can be seen from here. The hotel is usually visited by big celebrities and those who own a lot of wealth. Here, everything from Chinese to Western cuisine is available. I hope those who are thirsty for travel will enjoy their time very much if they stay at this hotel. Title: Re: Places where you can travel paying with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: d5000 on July 03, 2025, 10:45:35 PM A place which was in the news a lot in the last weeks, and I had not really expected it as an example for that list (although maybe it's also not that surprising, given its popularity):
Venice, Italy https://talkimg.com/images/2025/07/03/UwmStw.jpeg Image credit: Kent Wang from Barcelona, Spain, CC BY-SA 2.0 <https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0>, via Wikimedia Commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Santa_Maria_della_Salute_(50428075772).jpg) It doesn't need much introduction. Its unique location in a lagoon with several islands and canals makes it one of the preferred destinations for weddings (like seen last week by Bezos/Sánchez) and romantic couple holidays in the whole world. Bitcoin is accepted in at least three lodging options and three restaurants according to BTCmap. The location can be found here (https://btcmap.org/map#16/45.43977/12.33136). (It's the first place from my contributions to this thread I never went personally, but it's so well known -- just not for being a "Bitcoin destination" -- that it definitely should be mentioned here! And some of my family members and friends went there.) Title: Re: Places where you can travel paying with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: Stepstowealth on July 07, 2025, 06:01:51 PM Now it's your turn ... know a city or town where you can pay with BTC in at least one place both for food and accomodation? Post it here :) I have seen mention of Port Harcourt Nigeria, also mention of Lagos Nigeria. But we cannot mention those cities in Nigeria without mentioning the capital of the country. ABUJA NIGERIA https://talkimg.com/images/2025/07/07/UwyB0a.jpeg The capital city of Nigeria is a peaceful, clean , serene and enjoyable city to visit as long as you have it to spend. It is a city with a lot attractions because as the capital city of Nigeria as a whole, it has attracted both local and foreign investors and definitely has places where your bitcoin will be accepted for services. Title: Re: Places where you can travel paying with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: d5000 on July 13, 2025, 11:44:42 PM A quite nice place to visit in the European summer:
Krakow, Poland https://talkimg.com/images/2025/07/14/UAUOiv.jpeg Photo credit: DimaLiss@Pixabay, free use One of Central Eastern Europe's most beautiful and historic cities, Krakow has also some places to spend your Bitcoin: at least one place to lodge and some shops and eateries. The central area with a biq square and the famous underground bars are a must see. Another interesting place is the historic Kazimierz neighborhood, where some of the Bitcoin-accepting restaurants are located. In addition the Tatra mountainous range is quite close, and if you want to see the horrors humans are capable of and learn from it, you can visit Oswiecim, also known as Auschwitz. The BTCmap location is here (https://btcmap.org/map#14/50.06609/19.95014). If you need fiat, there seem to be several Bitcoin ATMs in the city too. I was almost about to include Warsaw also in this post, but the city has no accomodation I could find which accepts Bitcoin. Title: Re: Places where you can travel paying with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: Rgram on July 14, 2025, 12:49:18 AM After seeing your comment on a thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5549735.msg65579686#msg65579686) I recently crated;
An alternative idea to taking profit I will always be advocating for: spend some bitcoins directly instead of selling them for fiat. For example travelling (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5548042.new#new) ;) "Store of Value" is totally okay but Bitcoin would be even stronger and more resilient if it was used more for real payments (not for every coffee, mind you ...). I dived right in to see if their our places Bitcoin could be spent in my locality and boom, found somewhere in the eastern part of the country, several kilometers away so, it ain’t any bit close but, this is being archived gradually and yeah, easterners in my country are known for being good at Business. Hancarri.ng is making it happen. Google search image credit Location: Hancarri Plot 7, Imperial Mall, Cartege Cinema House Okpanam Road, Asaba 320242, Asabaof Nigeria Aside from being amongst the first innovators, this is also one way to put your business on the map and Hancarri.ng has got this in the bag. Spending Bitcoins directly would be a normal thing in the future but for now, people are more focused on accumulating and accepting Bitcoin directly in purchases is another means for the merchant to not just do business but accumulate as well. I didn't see anyone mentioning this before but you can visit country Slovenia in Europe, and you will surely find many places that accept Bitcoin payments. @dkbit98, had to go look this up and get an image for you, a place like BTC City deserves one and this just looks great:They even have one of the largest shopping center BTC-City in Ljubljana city with over 450 shops: https://www.btc-city.com/ https://talkimg.com/images/2025/07/14/UAaR8N.jpeg Photo credit: Desire There, sure looks better now. Read on the initiative behind the creation of this BTC-City project of Ljubljana, Slovenia and it was beautiful, an attempt to turn around the negativity that is associated with aspects of Bitcoin such as energy consumption, weather and climate to building over 450 stores from an old warehouse to ensure a more green and healthy ecosystem, using sustainable practices while conducting business and offering recreational activities. The landscape is beautiful and sure looks like a travel destination to have a taste of a future where we get to spend Bitcoin directly would feel like. Let's continue with two South American cities I don't know personally but friends have gone there: Cusco, Peru https://talkimg.com/images/2025/08/01/UHvBMo.jpeg Image credit: Martin St-Amant - Wikipedia - CC-BY-SA-3.0, Original at Wikimedia Commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:82_-_Cuzco_-_Juin_2009.jpg) Also known as Cuzco, the city is both well known for its stunning baroque architecture and for its closeness to the Macchu Picchu ruins, the most famous pre-Columbian city in the Andes. Cuzco was both the capital of the Inca Empire and an important urban center in Colonial peru, so you'll find a lot of history in the city and its surroundings. Despite of having only about 400,000 inhabitants, Cuzco is very touristy, so it's not too surprising that Bitcoin is accepted in some places. I have found two accomodation options on BTCmap and a couple of eateries, fortunately most of them close together in the city center. See BTCmap (https://btcmap.org/map#12/-13.55606/-71.91650). São Paulo, Brazil https://talkimg.com/images/2025/08/01/UHvgJT.jpeg Image credit: Agent010, CC-BY-SA 4.0, Wikimedia Commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Marginal_Pinheiros_e_Jockey_Club.jpg) One of South America's most underrated cities, São Paulo is perhaps the only true cosmopolitan metropolis on the continent, way ahead of Buenos Aires or Rio de Janeiro. People from nearly all nations of the world have immigrated into that bustling city of 20 million people which has even a famous neighborhood dominated by Japanese culture (mind you, not many countries are as far away from Brazil as Japan). The city center has nice historic buildings. But probably it's the skyscapers near Avenida Paulista and vibrant culture and nightlife of neighborhoods like Vila Madalena or Bixiga which make a trip to this city really special. Regarding Bitcoin, like Buenos Aires it has relatively few accomodation options (mostly flats in the Vila Olimpia area) but there are plenty of restaurants, bars, shops and other businesses accepting Bitcoin. And: This is the city where one of the first Bitcoin ETFs was traded, as early as in 2021! BTCmap location (https://btcmap.org/map#12/-23.61480/-46.66065). El Zonte has been one of my favored locations in El Salvador due to how beautiful it is including the wonderful beaches around making tourism to be cool and comfortable. https://i.ibb.co/VWbg75DN/Screenshot-2025-0913-003228.png https://i.ibb.co/dJ5NcPNj/Screenshot-2025-0913-002851.png There are so many beautiful places in El Zonte (https://elsalvador.travel/destination/el-zonte-beach/en/) you can go with a tourist visa and enjoy your holiday. Title: Re: Places where you can travel paying with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: d5000 on September 13, 2025, 02:58:52 AM It's not the best season, but if you're travelling to Argentina between November and March/April, this one may be an attractive destination:
Pinamar, Argentina https://talkimg.com/images/2025/09/13/UCSqbH.jpeg (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pinamar053.jpg) Pinamar053 (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pinamar053.jpg) - Claudio Elias, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons Pinamar seems to be the the closest place Argentina has to a Bitcoin beach. It is located at an immense sandy coastline bordered by pine forests and dunes. According to BTCmap the town has more accomodation, shops, and restaurants than much larger cities and resorts like Mar del Plata or Córdoba. It is known for its bustling nightlife, its large mansions and high-level infrastructure, and there is a lot of sports you can practicate. I went once or twice in my childhood, but to be honest, I personally consider other beach resorts more interesting. :) Nearby are Cariló, an interesting forested upscale resort, and Villa Gesell, a less expensive, more relaxed beach town with similar landscape but far less Bitcoin options. Title: Re: Places where you can travel with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: Lucius on September 13, 2025, 04:12:06 PM Bitcoin-accepting restaurants, accommodation, spa, stores, and others are sparsely found across the country, but if you want a specific place where you can easily spend your Bitcoin on pretty much everything, it's gonna be Boracay Island or what they're now calling the Bitcoin Island. --- I was there 2 or 3 years ago and, indeed, you can easily find 'Bitcoin accepted here' stickers all over the place. You can find a place to stay, eat, get a tattoo, have a haircut, grab a drink, get a massage, and everything else using Bitcoin. ~snip~ I watched a few videos on YT and what I had the opportunity to see was that the payment processor through which the payment was made had closed its business and most of the several hundred stores, hotels, etc. had stopped accepting BTC. I think I saw that news a year or maybe even more ago, so I don't know if anything has changed since then. I remember watching a couple of videos of tourists walking around the island and trying to pay something with BTC, but unfortunately only BTC stickers remained. That's unfortunate, but isn't surprising. The island was already vibrant with tourists even before Bitcoin came in. In a way, Bitcoin was superfluous. The island wasn't stuck because of a big problem to which Bitcoin was the answer. Therefore, Bitcoin was somehow unnecessary. Aside from that, the introduction of a Bitcoin economy didn't really boost business. I wonder if there was even a single tourist who came simply because he/she was looking for a place where he/she could live with Bitcoin alone. It's sad, but it was already kind of obvious back then it was more or less built on hype. Title: Re: Places where you can travel with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: tech30338 on September 14, 2025, 02:07:15 AM Now it's your turn ... know a city or town where you can pay with BTC in at least one place both for food and accomodation? This thread will serve as a reference for people that love travelling. To keep the thread alive I made a little research and discovered Maldives but I am yet to see it in this list. Kindly ignore if it has been mentioned already. MALDIVES Maldives is a popular nation in Asia that's known for its tourism. Tourism contributes heavily to its economic growth (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourism_in_the_Maldives). You can spend your Bitcoin and other crypto assets in some of their hotels and restaurants. https://talkimg.com/images/2025/10/05/UGEIuZ.jpeg SAii Lagoon Maldives (https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/mlegsqq-saii-lagoon-maldives/?WT.mc_id=zMLEC0MV1QQ2NaturalSearch3Google_LGHotelListing4DGGeneric_5LocalSearch6MLEGSQQ7EN8i83712) Unfortunately I can't upload pictures. Kindly ignore if it has been mentioned already. Thank you! It has been mentioned but in a very general way, without any details about Bitcoin-accepting businesses.Unfortunately I can't upload pictures. With the merits you got these days you should be able to, in a few days. You're still in the Newbie category but with 1 merit you will become Member in the next "cycle" which enables you to upload images.Another place I found perfect for vacations in South America: Mata de São João / Praia do Forte, Brazil Close to the bustling metropolis of Salvador de Bahia (about 50 km north of the city), Praia do Forte is a well known coastal jewel in the Bahia State. The picturesque beaches are known for their atractive scenery, and the fishing boats, small old houses and churches, and palm forests still hint to the past of the town as a quiet fishing village. For nature enthusiasts a visit to Projecto Tamar is worthwile, a project to protect endangered sea turtles. There are several options to eat and a few accomodation options too. See the BTCmap (https://btcmap.org/map?boosts=true#17/-12.57489/-38.00846) entry. https://talkimg.com/images/2025/10/06/UGsL0J.jpeg (https://talkimg.com/image/UGsL0J) Attribution: Turismo Bahia, CC BY-SA 2.0 <https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0>, via Wikimedia Commons https://talkimg.com/images/2025/10/06/UGsrzm.md.jpeg (https://talkimg.com/image/UGsrzm) Attribution: LíviaBuhring, CC BY-SA 3.0 <https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0>, via Wikimedia Commons Salvador de Bahía is close and has probably the most attractive old city in Brazil. It's also known for its picturesque Carnival and interesting Afro-Brazilian cultural events, where a lot of local music styles can be heard. I haven't found accomodation accepting Bitcoin in Salvador, but there are several options to eat and other shops accepting the digital gold. https://talkimg.com/images/2025/10/06/UGshmC.md.jpeg (https://talkimg.com/image/UGshmC) Attribution: Romerito Pontes from São Carlos, CC BY 2.0 <https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0>, via Wikimedia Commons Title: Re: Places where you can travel paying with Bitcoin in 2025 Post by: HistoLock on October 08, 2025, 07:36:55 AM Rosewood Hong Kong I think those who like to travel more will probably accept this hotel and its beauty is essential and this hotel is full of beauty. This hotel is very popular in Asia and the food in this hotel is also good, I first saw this hotel on Twitter and later I did not know about its service, then I searched and found this hotel in Asia, it is better than other hotels and I like it. Although I have not been to this hotel, I am interested in seeing it in the video and I have caught the interest of going to such a hotel. This hotel has caught my attention.https://talkimg.com/images/2025/07/01/Uwdrqm.jpeg Rosewood Hong Kong (https://businesschief.asia/sustainability/asia-home-to-18-of-the-worlds-50-best-hotels), many may already know about this hotel, but I am telling you about this hotel here that it is one of the best hotels in Asia and if we compare it in the world, it can be placed in 2nd position. Also its interesting to see in Thailand that there's a coffee shop accept Bitcoin named Crypto Coff in Chalong, Phuket. here's the link of their facebook page https://web.facebook.com/cryptocoffphuket/?_rdc=1&_rdr As what I've heard they are favorite spot of crypto users and digital nomads in Thailand. There's a small youtuber feature their Coffee Shop 3 years ago see this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlaHV51s_K0 and its good that they are still operating this 2025 |
