I didn't see anyone mentioning this before but you can visit country Slovenia in Europe, and you will surely find many places that accept Bitcoin payments.
They even have one of the largest shopping center BTC-City in Ljubljana city with over 450 shops:

Barcelona is one of the most vibrant non-capital cities in Europe. With historic and modern architecture -- with the well known Sagrada Familia church, one of the most impressive modern buildings in the world --, beaches, museums, lots of cultural venues, it is perfect for a city trip. There are several Bitcoin-accepting restaurants and at least three options for lodging, two of them in the city center and one in the outskirts. This photo shows a block with some of the finest architecture of the city, including a house remodeled by modernist architect Antonio Gaudí. BTCmap shows more than 50 Bitcoin-accepting shops in the city.

I haven't been to Costa Rica, but I have encountered countless of times posts, pictures, videos, stories, articles, and whatnot about people's Bitcoin experiences in that beautiful country.

I've read about the Bitcoin Beach Project in El Zonte in El Salvador, the Bitcoin City, the Bitcoin Island in my tiny nation, but there's also a Bitcoin Jungle Project in Costa Rica. The effort has the same goal: to try to create a circular Bitcoin economy. It's mainly focused in the Golden Triangle area of Puntarenas Province, particularly in the areas of Uvita, Dominical, Tinamaste, Ojochal, and Platanillo.

Anyway, just in case nobody would post about this place here. There must be hundreds, if not thousands, of all kinds of businesses in that country that accept Bitcoin payments. Are we unfortunate enough here on the forum to have never been graced by a Costa Rican?

Thus I start this thread to gather a list of cities and other places where you can travel with Bitcoin. The idea is that those who want can post cities and towns, be it in their own country or in locations where they have been, or whatever, where there is some Bitcoin acceptance. And add a photo from every location so the thread becomes a bit "visual" too

When I saw the title of this topic, the first thought that came to my mind was "are there only certain places where you can travel with bitcoin?" After all, bitcoin allows to travel around the world without any restrictions (still). I understand the specifics of the topic being discussed here (the ability to pay with bitcoin directly without exchange), but I still wanted to note that with bitcoin you can travel anywhere where there is electricity and internet.

Also, after looking through the posts in this topic, it is very noticeable that bitcoin is accepted most often in tourist places, in luxurious and expensive hotels and boutiques. That is, payment for bitcoin still remains something exotic and not for buying everyday items. In my opinion, this is more like a way to attract rich tourists with the famous slogan "bitcoin accepted here".

One reason for that I can think of is rich people know that bitcoin is a real store of value. While some people below that line still thinks bitcoin is only a currency used by criminals and illegal activities.

I say this because when I tell my friends and family about investing into bitcoin and crypto, they think I'm into some ponzi or illegal networking schemes. While if I talk it about to an open-minded person which is often rich or successful people, they know bitcoin is a good investment or asset to gave.

One thing I noticed about this thread is that the places posted are mostly European countries. Travelling to those places could be expensive for someone that lives in Asia.

Rosewood Hong Kong


Rosewood Hong Kong, many may already know about this hotel, but I am telling you about this hotel here that it is one of the best hotels in Asia and if we compare it in the world, it can be placed in 2nd position. It is located near to Victoria Harbor. A big feature of this hotel is that both the sea and the skyline of the city can be seen from here. The hotel is usually visited by big celebrities and those who own a lot of wealth. Here, everything from Chinese to Western cuisine is available. I hope those who are thirsty for travel will enjoy their time very much if they stay at this hotel.

A place which was in the news a lot in the last weeks, and I had not really expected it as an example for that list (although maybe it's also not that surprising, given its popularity):

It doesn't need much introduction. Its unique location in a lagoon with several islands and canals makes it one of the preferred destinations for weddings (like seen last week by Bezos/Sánchez) and romantic couple holidays in the whole world. Bitcoin is accepted in at least three lodging options and three restaurants according to BTCmap. The location can be found here.

(It's the first place from my contributions to this thread I never went personally, but it's so well known -- just not for being a "Bitcoin destination" -- that it definitely should be mentioned here! And some of my family members and friends went there.)

I have seen mention of Port Harcourt Nigeria, also mention of Lagos Nigeria. But we cannot mention those cities in Nigeria without mentioning the capital of the country.

The capital city of Nigeria is a peaceful, clean , serene and enjoyable city to visit as long as you have it to spend.
It is a city with a lot attractions because as the capital city of Nigeria as a whole, it has attracted both local and foreign investors and definitely has places where your bitcoin will be accepted  for services.

One of Central Eastern Europe's most beautiful and historic cities, Krakow has also some places to spend your Bitcoin: at least one place to lodge and some shops and eateries. The central area with a biq square and the famous underground bars are a must see. Another interesting place is the historic Kazimierz neighborhood, where some of the Bitcoin-accepting restaurants are located. In addition the Tatra mountainous range is quite close, and if you want to see the horrors humans are capable of and learn from it, you can visit Oswiecim, also known as Auschwitz. The BTCmap location is here. If you need fiat, there seem to be several Bitcoin ATMs in the city too.

I was almost about to include Warsaw also in this post, but the city has no accomodation I could find which accepts Bitcoin.

After seeing your comment on a thread I recently crated;

An alternative idea to taking profit I will always be advocating for: spend some bitcoins directly instead of selling them for fiat. For example travelling "Store of Value" is totally okay but Bitcoin would be even stronger and more resilient if it was used more for real payments (not for every coffee, mind you ...).

I dived right in to see if their our places Bitcoin could be spent in my locality and boom, found somewhere in the eastern part of the country, several kilometers away so, it ain’t any bit close but, this is being archived gradually and yeah, easterners in my country are known for being good at Business.

Aside from being amongst the first innovators, this is also one way to put your business on the map and Hancarri.ng has got this in the bag. Spending Bitcoins directly would be a normal thing in the future but for now, people are more focused on accumulating and accepting Bitcoin directly in purchases is another means for the merchant to not just do business but accumulate as well.

Read on the initiative behind the creation of this BTC-City project of Ljubljana, Slovenia and it was beautiful, an attempt to turn around the negativity that is associated with aspects of Bitcoin such as energy consumption, weather and climate to building over 450 stores from an old warehouse to ensure a more green and healthy ecosystem, using sustainable practices while conducting business and offering recreational activities. The landscape is beautiful and sure looks like a travel destination to have a taste of a future where we get to spend Bitcoin directly would feel like.

Let's continue with two South American cities I don't know personally but friends have gone there:

Cusco, Peru

Also known as Cuzco, the city is both well known for its stunning baroque architecture and for its closeness to the Macchu Picchu ruins, the most famous pre-Columbian city in the Andes. Cuzco was both the capital of the Inca Empire and an important urban center in Colonial peru, so you'll find a lot of history in the city and its surroundings. Despite of having only about 400,000 inhabitants, Cuzco is very touristy, so it's not too surprising that Bitcoin is accepted in some places. I have found two accomodation options on BTCmap and a couple of eateries, fortunately most of them close together in the city center. See BTCmap.

São Paulo, Brazil

One of South America's most underrated cities, São Paulo is perhaps the only true cosmopolitan metropolis on the continent, way ahead of Buenos Aires or Rio de Janeiro. People from nearly all nations of the world have immigrated into that bustling city of 20 million people which has even a famous neighborhood dominated by Japanese culture (mind you, not many countries are as far away from Brazil as Japan). The city center has nice historic buildings. But probably it's the skyscapers near Avenida Paulista and vibrant culture and nightlife of neighborhoods like Vila Madalena or Bixiga which make a trip to this city really special. Regarding Bitcoin, like Buenos Aires it has relatively few accomodation options (mostly flats in the Vila Olimpia area) but there are plenty of restaurants, bars, shops and other businesses accepting Bitcoin. And: This is the city where one of the first Bitcoin ETFs was traded, as early as in 2021! BTCmap location.

Currently, in almost some countries of the world, it is possible to pay for food or hotel bookings, including shopping, by paying through Bitcoin. However, I have seen that in Amsterdam, Netherlands, bitcoin embassy amsterdam, café kobalt can be paid through Bitcoin. Cafe Kobalt also has a Bitcoin ATM machine, so if you want, you can travel from here. With the beautiful environment here and everything, I think it is a great city and it is also very beautiful in terms of environment.

Crypto Street Restaurant is a good place based in the clearwater beach, Florida where you can spend your bitcoin on meals, the restaurant is programmed in a way that you can spend any crypto you have in your wallet and they even named the foods in the restaurant after some crypto currencies like Bitcoinana Split, the Crypto Salad among others.

El Salvador was the country in the world to adopt Bitcoin as a legal tender allowing citizens to make transactions in Bitcoin without taxation attached to it.
El Zonte has been one of my favored locations in El Salvador due to how beautiful it is including the wonderful beaches around making tourism to be cool and comfortable.





There are so many beautiful places in El Zonte you can go with a tourist visa and enjoy your holiday.

It's not the best season, but if you're travelling to Argentina between November and March/April, this one may be an attractive destination:

Pinamar, Argentina

Pinamar seems to be the the closest place Argentina has to a Bitcoin beach. It is located at an immense sandy coastline bordered by pine forests and dunes. According to BTCmap the town has more accomodation, shops, and restaurants than much larger cities and resorts like Mar del Plata or Córdoba. It is known for its bustling nightlife, its large mansions and high-level infrastructure, and there is a lot of sports you can practicate. I went once or twice in my childhood, but to be honest, I personally consider other beach resorts more interesting.

Nearby are Cariló, an interesting forested upscale resort, and Villa Gesell, a less expensive, more relaxed beach town with similar landscape but far less Bitcoin options.

Bitcoin-accepting restaurants, accommodation, spa, stores, and others are sparsely found across the country, but if you want a specific place where you can easily spend your Bitcoin on pretty much everything, it's gonna be Boracay Island or what they're now calling the Bitcoin Island.

That's unfortunate, but isn't surprising. The island was already vibrant with tourists even before Bitcoin came in. In a way, Bitcoin was superfluous. The island wasn't stuck because of a big problem to which Bitcoin was the answer. Therefore, Bitcoin was somehow unnecessary.

Aside from that, the introduction of a Bitcoin economy didn't really boost business. I wonder if there was even a single tourist who came simply because he/she was looking for a place where he/she could live with Bitcoin alone.

It's sad, but it was already kind of obvious back then it was more or less built on hype.

I will tell you what place you can't expect to use bitcoin in and that would be the Philippines. Do not get me wrong, I think we have a lot of bitcoiners here and we have a very solid and active community in forums such as this one but I do not think I have seen a lot of establishments here that offer to accept bitcoin. And most stores would most likely not accept bitcoin. Especially small businesses. It would even be worse if you visit rural areas away from the capital city. We do not have a clear regulation about crypto as of now.
There have been mentions of few stores that do accept bitcoin, such as the night bar URBN QC in Quezon City, Draper Startup House in Makati City, and niche retailer KosneyLand located inside a mall in Mandaluyong City. But you see, these are three different cities hence why I do not really think bitcoin will be as well accepted everywhere in this country.

I think we should only submit places where we have been to so the stories we share actually come from personal experiences. Any filipinos or tourists that have visited my country and was able to use bitcoin anywhere, correct me and let me know! I hope this does not discourage anyone going to the Philippines lol but this is my personal experience.

I did not know that there is a place in Makati that accept bitcoin, good to know that there is one there all i know is there is a bitcoin atm there and everyday i watch people walk in the machine though have not try to use it, I'm a bit shy people will look at me in another way lol, i think in Boracay there is a place that also accept bitcoin? ill be happy if the computer stores can accept bitcoin in the future, also malls, that would be great but still a long way to go.
