Yes. Escrow is needed. I offer volunteer as escrow agent.

Nobody is going to invest a big amount when somebody can invest 1BTC for free. It's my opinion.

Just sent out the coins to the first IPCO buyer! Thanks  :)

Congrats...

Not trying to be negative, but I think 15,000 satoshi for one coin on launch day is a little too steep.
I've mined close to 100 coins in the last 20 minutes and it'd be close to 400 in a hour. At 15,000 sat, I'd end up making 0.06 BTC/hr or 1.44 BTC/day with the current difficulty.
It looks like mining this is more profitable at the moment. Anyways, good luck with your venture and wish you luck.. :D

Yep.. Mining the heck out of this coin.

I am not sure if the specs mentioned are correct.. 100 blocks a day.. Over 300 blocks mined today already and its just raining coins.
Not sure if its any worth though. Nevertheless, its fun  8) to mine a heck load of coins.

So uh, is it a dick move if I offer to sell thousands of these coins here for 12k satoshi each? ;D

Yes, of course  ;D And if you think about it, 1 M coin at 15k sat gives it a total value of only 150 BTC which is not a bad valuation. It could easily double.

Poor chap has put in a lot of effort, stop messing with him. Its funny that people with zero activity launch a coin with IPCO and people go behind it. This admin looks like an active member and a genuine guy. To top it off, its a well planned and smooth launch, but still lacks popularity. Boy.. I am never going to understand this crypto world.

Make hay while the sun shines. Mine as much as you can at this difficulty.

There will be a lot less than one million coins if I stick with the current plan.  :P More like 251,000 coins.

Destroying may not be a good idea and selling for 1k is not good either. You are decreasing the valuation from 150 BTC to 10 BTC. Bribe your way to get listed at Mintpal.
Use that amount to get listed in major exchanges.

Definitely something to keep in mind.
According to his current plan, by valuing coins highly early, and destroying the rest, the end product is a much smaller pool of coins than was originally anticipated by prospective buyers.
That being said, fewer coins, if the network stays stable and maintains support (and assuming the dev provides some sort of "product" or something to go with the coin) there's no reason to think that his valuations aren't even under what they oughta be.
Only time will tell.

Since the few people mining already have so many coins, I'm thinking about just unloading these 749,000 for 1k satoshi each and forgetting the idea of destroying coins. Stick with a 1 million total coin count?  :D

The guy that bought already would receive more coins to match the new rate.

What do you guys think?

Doesn't that amount to you dumping the whole premine right off the bat?  I think it's a terrible idea.

Perhaps I will allocate some of the premine to a faucet.

Well figure it out and make a damn plan already so I know if I should even bother mining this or not.

Why would anyone invest in a coin when the dev is holding a 75% premine he was supposed to publicly destroy, but is now thinking, maybe i'll sell some cheaper, maybe i'll put some toward a faucet, maybe i'll just dump them all over the god damn order books the instant it hits an exchange.

What does it matter? One way or another things happen. There's more to it than just "Oh hey we're going to try and make a bunch of people follow a specific plan via the internet and decentralized services..." because that totally happens all the time...

The only thing that happened is you got 0 BTC and haven't made shit off your rather unremarkable coin.

"Immediately after the 12 hour IPCO ends, any leftover coins will be destroyed. The total supply of OMCoins will decrease instantly. The devs will not keep or have access to any of the remaining coins. This will be accomplished by sending the remaining coins to a dummy address that can never be accessed by anyone. The fake address will be public and the transaction can be seen on block explorers."

Quote from the announcement.

Changing your mind just because things didn't go as you hoped implies at minimum a wishy-washy, unreliable dev.  At worst it implies a straight up scam.

If you are just gonna shit the coins all over the order books, at least PM me and let me know your price target so I can get in on the scam with you, cuz I got a few thousand of these things so far.

we need some promotions and giveaway?

That and a couple faucets and services

Perhaps I will allocate some of the premine to a faucet.

Well figure it out and make a damn plan already so I know if I should even bother mining this or not.

Why would anyone invest in a coin when the dev is holding a 75% premine he was supposed to publicly destroy, but is now thinking, maybe i'll sell some cheaper, maybe i'll put some toward a faucet, maybe i'll just dump them all over the god damn order books the instant it hits an exchange.

I am making a plan. Trying to listen to everyone's opinion a bit first and debating whether or not to close the IPCO early.

Selling them cheaper during the IPCO was a joke in response to the guy who said he was going to sell thousands of coins for 12k satoshi in this thread.

The amount of coins destroyed will be the overwhelming majority of the premine, only a small amount would be kept for the faucet, exchanges, etc. This is because I didn't receive as much btc as I had hoped to do these things.

I never said anything about dumping coins on an exchange.

Cheers

that good, i am mining this coin, hope we can hit a exchange but do not rush it, poloniex is a good choice.

If you are just gonna shit the coins all over the order books, at least PM me and let me know your price target so I can get in on the scam with you, cuz I got a few thousand of these things so far.

haha i have mined more than 1k coins now.

how many  total coin do we have? 280K?

During the early stages of a coin's launch it is not uncommon for devs to ask input of their users to further develop a coin users want to support.

Keep the original plan, allocate a fraction of the premine for a faucet, maybe a couple of bounties. Just my opinion.

should ask them to add this coin first?

thanks!

This will be the plan...

Total Coins: 258,490
1,000,000 originally, 741,510 destroyed (99% of the 749,000 from the IPCO)
Premine for future support: 7490 coins (2.8% of 258,490)

Keep some for the exchanges. They dont list your coin for you unless you pay them in BTC or your coins.
I think you should allocate about 5-10k for every exchange you intend to list the coin. If its only Mintpal, its well and good.

1180 blocks are down of the 9000ish total blocks that will ever be found.   This coin is going to be 90 days of mining.  I understand as the difficulty rises it will be harder and harder to mine.  But 13% of the coin has been mined in the last 11ish hrs.  It may be minable for 90 days but all the meaningful mining will be done within a few weeks at this rate right?  I am fairly new to coins like this but I would like to know if what I am thinking is correct or if I am wrong.

I don't think the difficulty is adjusting correctly.  I am thinking this is more like a week of mining.

addnode=108.61.103.136
addnode=108.61.103.157

listen=1

rpcuser=OM
rpcpassword=coin
rpcport=45850
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1
addnode=108.61.202.34
addnode=108.61.103.136
addnode=108.61.103.157

that is what is in the file. they were already in the file.  I didn't edit it at all.

I don't know if it's required, but I always make my own conf file in the roaming folder, and change the rpcconnect info to my own IP, and then add allowip=myip, as well as the addnodes. It is synching up ok for me.

The blocks per day and the difficulty retarget did not work as expected, but the total coin count should be the same. It'll just happen much sooner.

Keep mining it if you want.

ok, well i shall proceed to hash rape this coin for a few hours then.   Wait for it.........

63467.3333333341 total so far, by my count.

Just trying to get a sense of how much mining time is left.

Yop,

Please apologize for my bad english... I'm in France :)

I think you don't have omcoin.conf so you have to create it :

(Hope you are runing Win Vista/7)

1. go to start menu
2. click on the text field for research and type : %appdata%
3. press Enter, an explorer window will appear
4. navigate to the folder "OMcoin" and get in
5. Create a new text document and call it "omcoin.conf.txt"
6. edit this file with notepad and copy/paste that inside :

listen=1
server=1
rpcuser=xxxxxx
rpcpassword=xxxxxx
rpcport=45850
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1
addnode=108.61.202.34
addnode=108.61.103.136
addnode=108.61.103.157

(just change "xxxxx" with your own stuff)

7. save and exit
8. change the name of this file, by deleting ".txt" at the end, the new file is now "omcoin.conf". You should have a pop-up warning, accept.
9. You're done, you just need to restart your wallet and wait for sync. :)

Hope I've been clear enough...
