Proofread copies are pushed here as soon as they're done: http://www.scribd.com/ben_malec_1/documents -- use the top-right search bar and type in "episode 1," "episode 2" etc (the episode title should also work, and possibly the original air date as listed on SoundCloud if formatted the same way as used - ex. November 26, 2013). In case you were wondering why some transcripts have "travelers" and others have "travellers," transcriptions prior to episode ~70 will almost always be in US English while episodes after e70 are often in UK English, possibly with some hybridization if I meddled where I shouldn't have.

*Air date posted on letstalkbitcoin.com is sometimes used for newer episodes. There usually aren't discrepancies, but that's not absolute. If you can't find it, try +- a day when you search by date. Also know I have ~9 very early episodes (maybe e21-29 - something like that) which were never posted on my Scribd account. These mysterious episodes are available for me to post if someone ever bugs me about them - just will take some time (they aren't actually proof-read). :)

Payments will be made at the time the episode is proofread and deemed adequate - no more waits for batch payments.

"Fail Point" scores are no longer kept on record. UK English is now accepted. All other previous rules are still active and anything qwk says in this thread takes precedence over any new operational mechanics I've outlined. Rules may be modified based on conditions listed as they change. Rule changes absolutely do not apply retroactively and never will.

All transcriptions will currently pay .075BTC (unless an "old-approved" transcriber, where pay remains at .15BTC/episode until the project ends). A decaying payment mechanism is in effect (rather, we reserve the right to enforce it) -- from the time you reserve an episode, you have only 72 hours to finish and submit the transcript until .005BTC will be deducted from the amount to be paid at the start of each 24h cycle thereafter.

To reserve an episode, simply post the number you want reserved. Upon finishing, provide a Scribd link (or something else we've accepted) and a BTC address. Please do not reserve more than two episodes at a time. Reservations will be cleared 18 days after the request was made or if you ask for it to be cleared if you're considered a "new transcriber," 33 days if you're considered an "old transcriber," since this'd be when the transcripts would pay nothing after the decaying payment effect. Updates:
(5/4/14) Entertaining other work requests both in proofreading and transcribing. They'll go through the same two-person process of error-checking as with LTB episodes. We're looking to maintain at least a $10/hr pay rate for everyone, keeping in mind that an hour of audio usually takes 4-6 man-hours to transcribe while proofreading a page of text takes ~2 man-minutes. If the audio or text needs to be translated, that's possible but unlikely, depending on the transcribers "on call" at the time you make the request. Expediting is definitely possible (your best bet would be to PM skyered), while freelance writing may be possible depending on the topic. We can also CC/subtitle videos and audio, no problem (though it takes a good bit more time). PM or email me (obviously, feel free to talk to individual transcribers privately, too).

(6/20/14) Reading transcripts? It may surprise you to know Qwk's not a bottomless pit of BTC! While we work on moving the project over to a donation-oriented model, it's fairly important we know what to expect in the way of donations. Any donations sent to  1Jr5cs35vesNwvx6FJcvRu9GooenBDKdvX will help us determine if and how the project should move forward (and count against what we charge qwk).

(7/30/14) The application process is now closed while we transition models, which may take anywhere from one week to one year. (hoping on the former, though!)

I'm a first-time poster to the forum and maybe that disqualifies me...  But I'm a big fan of LTB, and a very-grateful consumer of the transcripts. I've been lurking here for a few weeks waiting for new ones to be uploaded. These transcripts have been an integral part of my cryptocurrency education and I owe a lot to everyone here. Kluge, qwk, thanks for organizing this effort and providing us with an important resource!

Added procedure to OP for bringing on new transcribers when project is [closed] (only Approved transcribers and new transcribers recommended by Approved transcribers may submit an episode and be paid) or [open] (episodes are specially marked to be transcribed by anyone new).

Probably not, but at least for 2-3 weeks. I updated my update. ;D If transcriptions don't start flowing in again, the project will be opened back up. Also added a new system where Approved transcribers can recommend up to three people per year to transcribe episodes. That last mechanic will be removed if we ever catch up with the work backlog.

I realized today that all Scribd documents are marked as having a "traditional copyright" claim. As far as I know, that is false. I'm pretty sure neither qwk nor Adam ever requested an IP claim on them, and I obviously have no claim on them. I was a bit unclear about this in an earlier OP edit -- it would be ideologically disagreeable for someone to post transcripts behind some kind of paywall, but there are no legal restrictions against such an act. Major changes today, which go into effect immediately (but, of course, do not apply retroactively):
*As you can tell by the thread title, the project's open again. We'd like to get caught up with the queue ASAP, with a goal of being completely up-to-date within a month. At that time, there's a fair possibility that this project will end, though there may be a few more episodes to do until negotiations are finished.
*Potential transcribers must reserve an episode, then transcribe the first five audio minutes - and only the first five audio minutes. Then, submit the transcript link to me through PM, NOT in this thread. It will only pay .005BTC (after being proofread, which shouldn't take me long at all). If the transcript takes only a short time for me to proofread, you'll have permission to transcribe the rest of the episode for .075BTC (excluding the previous .005BTC payment).
*If you're approved, you can then reserve full episodes after you finish that transcription without having to have the first five audio-minutes green-lit, but these will still only pay .075BTC/transcript.
*If you're not approved, you will still receive the .005BTC, but not allowed to reserve any future episodes nor be paid the .075BTC for the one you started.

The preceding does not apply to already-approved transcribers. However, this applies to all episodes reserved after today:
*The decaying payment mechanism is back in effect, though a good bit looser than last time. From now on, when an episode is reserved, you have 72 hours to submit it. After that period of time, .005BTC will be deducted at the start of every 24 hour period which elapses. (Obviously, you wouldn't be deducted .2BTC for submitting four days after reserving, only .05BTC) For new transcribers, that 72h period will not start until you're green-lit to finish transcribing the episode you reserved.

The end goal is to dramatically reduce the amount in which this project is to be subsidized and move to a model where reader tips bring in at least half of the pay for transcripts. This would coincide (ideally) with transcripts and a tip address (or a %split from the overall episode tip address) being integrated into the LTB website, but we must be up-to-date, first. This will likely push the viability of working as a transcriptionist for pay to low-wage nations. I wouldn't expect pay exceeding $30/episode, and likely, only ~half of that will be paid up-front, while the rest will trickle in as tips.

Yay! Catching up within a month! I'd love to see this happening!

Minor rule modification (was kind of implied before - I just forgot to make it clear):
Reservations will be cleared 18 days after the request was made or if you ask for it to be cleared if you're considered a "new transcriber," 33 days if you're considered an "old transcriber," since this'd be when the transcripts would pay nothing after the decaying payment effect. You cannot re-reserve an episode you previously reserved.

^Affects any reservation made after this post, but none before (though re-reservations of old reservations ARE affected). Previously, you could re-reserve episodes without penalty, theoretically allowing someone to game the rules since the decaying payment mechanism doesn't go into effect until a reservation is made (where a re-reservation would implicitly restart that timer and thus permit someone to have an episode reserved for 10 billion years and not suffer reduced payout).

Yes, keeping in mind the decaying payment mechanism:
"from the time you reserve an episode, you have only 72 hours to finish and submit the transcript until .005BTC will be deducted from the amount to be paid at the start of each 24h cycle thereafter."

Hey, all. I'm going to be a bit slow in replying to PMs for a bit. We think we're going to transition the project on August 1, 2014. After that point, outside grammar/style/etc rules, pretty much everything's changing except the basic idea of how we operate.

I can finally firmly state the project will NOT be killed off when we catch up, but we really need to catch up before August 1st so we can get these posted and focus on getting to the next iteration of this project. There's going to be a lot of change in how we do things, from payments to formatting. For example, we're probably going to switch from Scribd to inkpad.io which has a unique markup/formatting scheme. Transcripts will be automatically embedded into LTB episode pages as soon as they're marked "done" (proofread) on our side. Payments will switch to a partial upfront, partial donation model, with pay in both LTBcoin and BTC. We're also going to be transcribing all episodes on the LTB network, not just Let's Talk Bitcoin. The over-arching theme is that we're still going to be very independent, but also be sort of alpha testers and get what we need and want to do our jobs most effectively, while also being able to effortlessly integrate into the LTB network and move from a bounty model to a more donation-oriented model.

It's a lot to organize and hammer out, still. Nothing's final.

We're getting really close to the end. An "amnesty" is in effect. Any episode reserved can be considered to have its "decaying payment timer" reset to this day. If you had an episode reserved for a couple weeks and submit it within the next few days, you'll get full pay for your pay tier. After the first few days' grace period, the decaying payment will restart (with any previous "decayed balance" zeroed out), so if you wait four days and'd normally be paid .15 for the episode, you'd be paid .145 rather than .095 or whatever if you had it out for a couple weeks.

I'm still working on e101, approx 1/4 complete; minor health issues postponed completion.
It's my first priority again and appreciate the reset.
