Title: My first nickel in Bitcoin
Post by: 0Ltyler on April 09, 2014, 03:15:20 PM
I checked out one of those advertising sites that give out Bitcoins for viewing websites. It totally wasn't worth my time as the payout per click diminished as I approached the payout threshold, but I still received by first 10,000th of a Bitcoin. Now it's time to get a real job.

You can join a signature program here, when you reach a higher activity level.
The payment would be way better than faucets. :)

That idea seems to be pretty common among forums. For gamers, it's in-game assets and for non-gamers it's real-world assets. I suppose it's better to have the latter.

Haha, that's how I started out as well. Just keep it up and endure, find new ways to earn bitcoins, be innovative and you'll soon enough have a nice sum of money in bitcoins. Just remember, even the smallest sum can increase to 100 times it's worth in the future!

I would suggest to invest in btc now. Have high hopes that it will hit high by the end of the year. :)

+1.
The best time to buy is a few days ago though, when people were worried about those FUDs.
But it is still a good time to buy now.

Oh yes, indeed. If you're ever going to invest money into bitcoins it's about time to do it now, before we hit 1k again.

And also, if you're going to buy. Remember to HODL. No matter what happens, no matter if we're heading for a crash and it might seem as you'll lose money. Do. Not. Sell.
You'll regret it, so just hold, hang on to something, and when you feel the time comes, then you sell. But never sell because of fear, because that's when you lose money and/or miss the big money.

Where would you guys recommend to purchase bitcoins... a legit site where the majority of you guys here from the community actually buy it from. I'm from the UK if that makes any difference.

Try https://localbitcoins.com/ (https://localbitcoins.com/) :)

Use something reliable. I'd recommend Bitstamp myself, however that could take some time with bank transfers and stuff.
The other option would to buy from a seller on localbitcoins as apsvinet proposed, however that is usually much more expensive.
Otherwise I don't know, I'm not really updated on UK based exchanges.

Yes, exactly. You meet up with the seller (usually on a café or something), you hand over the cash, and the seller sends the bitcoin to your wallet. Very easy. The exchange rate is pretty bad though, but if you want to get the bitcoins fast, then this is the way.

You can sell your signature space to people that wants to advertise their sites. Mine is currently sold to RitzGrandCasino.
Here's a list (don't know how updated it is though!): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=333916.0

You post how many post you've made when you sign up. After a month (or at a specified date) either you report how many posts you did during that period, or the person buying the space checks for him/herself. The rate is specified in the thread. Some pay you per post, and some pay a flat rate. There are many options! :)

The company I buy my BTC through here in the UK operates an affiliate scheme which pays 1% of the BTC price when anyone buys BTC by clicking on my link. Would I be allowed to put that as my signature?

Also how much roughly can people expect to earn by using the companies/websites you mention in their signature?

Yes, you can put your affiliate link in your signature, no problems.

Currently as a full member I get 0.0005BTC per constructive post I make on the RitzGrandCasino deal. Members only get 0.0003BTC per post, so if you signed up you'd earn a bit less.
Here's the list of all the deals again so you can check for yourself: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=333916.0

It definitely is. If you're earning bitcoins rather than investing your own money into it it's a lot better than faucets and earn sites ( exceptions might be freelance working ) and 50 posts per month ( which most campaigns require ) is a very easy minimum to reach.

So who decides what is a 'constructive post'? Or more to the point, what would be considered an unconstructive post?

Non-constructive posts are generally posts saying "+1" "(insert single image here)" "I agree!" "Good post" "Bump" + trolling / flaming.
Constructive just means it's posts that contribute to the thread you're posting in. It's not complicated, just don't spam. :)

Is there a minimum or maximum number of posts per month which you need to make?
It all depends on the signature campaign, they all have their specific rules. Most campaigns require you to post 50 times per month otherwise they won't pay you, and most have a cap at around 2500~ posts per month ( which is impossible to reach without spamming anyways ). Check the Service section of the forum for the different campaigns. :)

From what I've understood, in every 2 week-period you post in you'll get 14 activity.
Which means higher post count =/= higher activity.
As long as you post once per 2 week period, you get 14 activity.

Good advice given in this thread.  Take a look at the service section of the forum.  Also if your wondering what a constructive post is take a look at the posts of those who posted in this thread with advertisements in the bottom of the posts(signature).  You may want to take a look for sites that offer an affiliate program so if you direct someone else there you will be paid.  May an exchange or just some service that uses Bitcoins.  Good luck.

I presume these 'Thanks again' &  'No problem posts' don't count as constructive posts?  ;D

Could I have one of the sites mentioned above AND my affiliate URL in my signature or are you restricted to one?

Meh, they're part of the conversation and relevant to the topic we're discussing. Altho perhaps some campaigns would deduct them from your total. Depends on how harsh they are.

Some signature campaigns let you include other things in your signature as well, others tell you strictly that you can only have their advertisement in your signature, not even personal links like your bitcoin address or a quote.
