Title: Importing a paper wallet Post by: spooderman on April 18, 2014, 11:25:35 PM Ok! So I have finally made safe all my families bitcoins by getting them off QT and into paper wallet generated offline :)
Just wondering what the best way to get them back out is, I would like to know how to do this in case I should ever need to in a hurry. The QT can't import private keys can it? Bitcoind can, but that's a bit beyond me it seems. Blockchain.info the best option for someone like me? Title: Re: Importing a paper wallet Post by: grue on April 18, 2014, 11:38:02 PM Ok! Go to the debug console, do "importprivkey privatekey". This will open a scanning window, or the privkey must be scanned other way and put with ctrl+v? Importing adds new address or replaces the existant ones in wallet.dat? Title: Re: Importing a paper wallet Post by: byt411 on May 04, 2014, 12:44:48 PM Ok! If you mean scanning a QR code, no, you have to type in the private key. Yes, I've meant scanning a QR code. Thank you for the info!If you mean scanning a QR code, no, you have to type in the private key. Maybe you know a good but NOT android QR scanner/decoder, something that could work with the camera built into laptop? I mean the app that works this way, but could be used to altcoins. You would have to scan the QR code, then copy the private key into your qt. http://webqr.com/ Title: Re: Importing a paper wallet Post by: alicea on May 04, 2014, 09:33:11 PM Importing adds an address, and I have no idea what you are talking about with the scanning window.
