Title: [ANN] Altdice.net -Multi coin dice game - Onchain - Provably Fair
Post by: yogg on April 22, 2014, 02:55:55 PM
http://altdice.net/img/logo.png (http://altdice.net)

Come join us at the new and improved Altdice multicoin dice casino at Altdice.net !

http://altdice.net

The games are provably fair like always with a 98% expected payout.

AltDice.net currently runs on the blockchain only.

We believe that everybody should have the ability to play at Altdice.net with the cryptocurrency of their choice. Making that possible for them to do so has been a goal for us for a long time. Bitcoin is becoming more and more difficult to gather, and there are a lot of other great currencies !
We want to offer the same exact thrills that you could expect to experience at Bitcoin gaming sites such as Satoshi Dice but to everyone. Regardless of the value of the bet, you can always come to Altdice.net and wager with your coins of various value because Altdice aims to provide you with the largest selection of cryptocoins in the industry.

Altdice was formed in August 2013, and even after some downtime it is still running. We want to add more and more Altcoins to our expanding platform over time. Our ultimate goal is to continue to add as many different Altcoins as we can. We have the ability to virtually add any one of them that is out there, so let's do it ! :)

You can also bet using multiple game addresses per single transaction.

Our game currently supports 2 different altcoins :
(All of them will be available to play inside our new offchain game as well)

- Mintcoin (MINT) : http://mint.altdice.net
- Rubies (RBIES) : http://rbies.altdice.net

Follow Us on Twitter : http://twitter.com/altdice

Feel free to ask for support (if needed) on this thread. We have nothing to hide. :)
Many thanks for reading this update, we wish for you to have lots of endless fun at http://altdice.net and most of all, we wish our players to have only the best of luck when you're playing at Altdice.net !

A dice site that accepts multiple alts and will continue to accept them? Fucking brilliant! Best if luck but don't just accept any altcoin!

I will update the thread with details about our soon to be launched website, but we need that topic URL to add it to the website.
Thanks for your comprehension :-)

Nice to see some new gambling sites :)

But why not just make this thread when you're ready to announce it?

Because the URL of this thread is encoded all over the website and it's kinda tidious to change. I'd rather have it a few hours before the release.  ;D (Who said i'm lazy ?! I heard it)

98% expected payouts? Does this mean a 2% house edge or what?

Maybe that's the point? To have a place to spend all those altcoins?
However Litecoin is a great altcoin as well :)

Yeah, this is exactly it. We don't plan to add Bitcoin anywhere in the future.
We prefer to stay focused on alts. :)

Of course, we plan to add Litecoin someday. We think to add it at the same time that we start our offchain dice game.

That is great news. It's an altcoin - and the most widely used one.
Also, I think it's a great idea to focus on altcoins. There are many Bitcoin sites like this already - but not many for altcoins, and definitely not accepting so many altcoins.

What's the time frame looking for the off chain game? Will that be provably fair?

Also the website seems to be down right now.

Yes, of course the game will be made in a way to be provably fair. Details to verify the fairness will be explained as well.
On top of that, we will offer some innovative ways to roll. :)

The website went down for a few hours last week but the issue was identified and solved. Thanks

Hi, I'm the developer of CAPTcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=683776).

Let me know if it gets added to altdice.net.

I can promote it for free on get.CAPTcoin.com (http://get.captcoin.com/) (over 50,000 hits per day).

Your transaction is not a bet, since it is over the betting limits. This is why you got 100% of your coins back right after sending it to Altdice.
Please send a transaction with an amount of coins between min bet and max bet to get some winnings if you're lucky :)

oh yeah i can't wait! hey if anybody is interested in also betting altdice..their support takes up to 3 weeks to help you out :) if they decide to do that. but dont count on that happening. stay away from this place. that would be your best bet:)

You're kidding right? hahaha... Look, he's been very quick to respond in the past. This is not Mt. Gox. yogg works hard to provide this service for the community, it's about time he took a break..

I was on a vacation break, in a foreign country. Prior to that, I was with family. Now I am restarting all the systems.
Usually, I take care of bet related support requests on a daily basis.

Don't worry... There will always be trolls. justscrewit is a new user and obviously doesn't know how crypto works.

Yeah because a "newbie" on the forum doesn't know much about cryptos because you assume since his activity is so low compared to yours, that he's just on here to troll? You just sound like an ignorant moron. Sorry that you stick your nose in shit that you have no clue of but want to beat off to your "senior member" status. Fortunately, I have a life outside of crypto.

Did you not just say I was a troll? When you have no knowledge of the situation? I feel like you should just shut the hell up and go on with your superior knowledge of the crypto world. Maybe write a book about how much you know. I'll buy the first copy! how about it? I'll give you 10 doge? That's probably overvaluing it a bit but I'm willing to pay double the value if it's going to be that good.

Thanks for your suggestion ! :)
Well, in the current Altdice version, it's a bit difficult to identify which bet is coming thanks to who... I don't see how I can easily implement an affiliate program.

The game is fair. It takes the bet transaction ID and a secret key which is released every 24h to calculate your lucky number, so you can manually verify the lucky numbers you got.
Provable fairness doesn't rely on time or any variables that can be taken advantage of, against the player.

We still have that offchain dice game in the wires. It is not my #1 priority but we'll get there eventually sometime. :)
It will have some nice features !

Altdice is here to stay and expand !

By the way, I would like to announce that Altdice is now exploited and maintained by a registered company (http://img4.hostingpics.net/pics/142653altworld.jpg).
We'll add the legal mentions about it in the next few days to the website.

We are currently experiencing a hardware fail with the wallet server.
Unfortunately, I don't have spare hardware for this.
New hardware is on it's way.

Your coins are not lost. Bets will be processed as usual as soon as our systems go live again.
If you want a refund, please contact me with your bets details. (Coin you used to play and txid)

Please accept my deepest apologies for this situation. Thanks for your comprehension.

Great to see the site online again!

The site was down for the last few weeks, so we could work on a new setup to make our platform suit our needs at best.

We are now slowly getting back into operation.

5 coins are already accepted on AltDice.net :

- Infinitecoin
- Dogecoin
- Friendshipcoin2
- Squallcoin
- Incakoin

We have also launched our new offchain dice game ! Come to check it out !

Also, we began to sell 25% of the profits of AltDice.net. Please visit  http://altdice.net/share.php for more informations.

In the next few days, we'll add six more coins :

- Phoenixcoin
- I0coin
- Zetacoin
- Quarkcoin
- Casinocoin
- Litecoin

We'd like to thank all our players for their fidelity.

I wish you the best of luck on http://altdice.net ! :)

You're welcome drak. :)

What other coins are on your radar?

We can't say as of now.
Regularly, we add new coins to our share sale (http://altdice.net/share.php)
When the coin community has bought 20% of the share for sale, we add the said coin to our dicing platform.

Would you also consider adding QIBUCK coin? I am one of the admins of QIBUCK coin and am sure you will get support from our community. Also since we are an asset backed coin we would love to invest shares as well which profits will be used to go to directly rewarding our qbk coin holders.. I found out about you from 10k thread and will be sending both 10k and doge coins to buy shares tonight and over the coming few days. :)

I see there is no games with DGC yet.
Digitalcoin has a good market cap and daily volume. It definitely should be on AltDice. :)

Allright, we'll put some shares for sale.
The rules are the same : when 20% of the target is reached, the coin will be added to our dicing platform.

I'll post very soon about it on the DGC ANN thread.

50k DGC :o ohh my god that's 10k blocks. I hope we can reach it.

Yes. Sorry for that, we know it's quite an amount. It's slightly less than 1BTC at current market prices.
Still, we got scammed so many times because of shitcoins and scamcoins (I remember Libertycoin...) that we decided not to buy new coins to fund our games.
If some coin community wants us to add their coin, we can do it, however we won't take that risk anymore.

Also, our coin slots are limited. This is why the amount is so high.
We aim to offer high limits, fast and reliable quality games.
In exchange, the coin will remain on AltDice.net and we'll scale our setup to keep accepting more and more coins.

It's been a while AltDice is around. We did things in a different way before. Nobody has been disappointed.
If someone has a complaint or request about anything, please contact me. We'll sort it out.

Our offer

We are selling 25% of all our future profits.
Your funds will be used to increase the max bet and increase profits.
If the website is ever sold, 25% of the sale amount will go to the shareholders, proportionally to their share value.
The sale is open until we reach the target.
You earn profit only for the coins you invested with.

Get paid monthly     <---- I liked that part....

At the end of each month, we will calculate the profits for all our games and send 25% of them proportionally to the shareholders, even if the target is not reached.   <--- I guess the joke is on me...
PoS staked coins count as profit, so you'll get a share of that as well.
This will take place for the life of the game. We won't deduct any fee (server costs, etc..) from your share of the profit.
We will post monthly profit reports on our blog. Let us know if you want to be added to our shareholders monthly newsletter !
If there are losses at the end of a month, losses are carried over to the next month and shareholders will receive profits only when there is profit.

I see the Josh Garza business plan is being applied...

Hello everybody.

First, please excuse me for the time I needed to come up with a solution and about my very poor communication.
I took a break because I didn't know how to address the situation. This is the first time something similar happens, I needed time to process the shock and find a suitable solution.
I missed the 1st of May profits payment. I just didn't know how to react.

As I said, the site and I are not going anywhere. I am a responsible person, I will stick to my word, and I'll do my best to find a solution that suits everybody.
The website is running since August 2013 and Altdice is one of the most resilient altcoin dice website over time.

Now, about the event. The offchain dice script was exploited and the site's hot wallets were emptied.
Some coins were stolen. A minor share, but still.

I didn't do the calculations yet, but I believe the stolen amount is somewhere around 1.5-2 BTC.
When that happened, I was unsure of the future of the website. For sure I wouldn't run away with investors funds, but then, what to do ?

I was thinking of selling the website so I can free some of my time and repay the investor without injecting my own funds.
But, I don't really want to give up on AltDice. There is still a lot of room for improvement.

My biggest mistake was to keep the news while I thought of some solution.
I know the first thing I should have done was to communicate about what happened. I am very sorry for this.

What happens now ? Nothing really changes.
I will buy the stolen coins back and cover 100% of the loss.
The profits for April will be paid as they were supposed to be, at the end of this month. So at the end of May investors will receive April and May profits.
Along with the profits payment, I will add 10% of your investment to compensate for the inconvenience and lack of communication.

Also, I will be looking for a new and safe offchain dice script so players can enjoy this game with a large selection of altcoins.

Now that this is posted, I will review and reply to the posts.

AltDice is a legit website. For sure I lack some management skills but I try hard to do my best.
I value honesty a lot, I won't allow that investors who trusted me suffer from any loss of coins.

You don't lack anything, anyone would have panicked and buried their head but not many would have come back! AltDice is an awesome site (Be it a little addictive) but a brilliant service in the crypto world.

Sadly the crypto community has not had a good show lately... Sorry Im jaded... Im just looking for a response. Thank you for yours...

Hello gr8tness,

I understand your concerns. I am conscious I should have communicated more about what happened. In fact, at the beginning of May, I was not sure what to do.
This is why I skipped the profit payments.

I never intended to scam, and I this is not an option for me.

Now that I have found a solution to keep the website going, everything should be back to normal at the end of the month. I'll pay the profits for April and May at the end of May.

Also, I'll be looking to make the offchain dice game available ASAP. Thanks for your comprehension and sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks a lot for your kind words and support, batesresearch. It's really precious to me. It might sound stupid, but I really need that... Cryptoworld is a harsh place and we should help each other.
I'll never thank you enough for reassuring everyone in this thread, when I was away.
I immensely appreciate everything you do for me. I'm forever grateful to you.

First off, THANK YOU FOR REPLYING AND EXPLAINING.
Secondly... I'm an investor... What does that mean to me? I gave you something hoping you can take that something and make something. Did I expect payments every month? Honestly... No... I was expecting a report though. As was displayed here, YOU are highly regarded in the crypto community. YOU need to keep that in mind. Once your reputation is sullied it is a hard road to repair. As they say in my industry, 1000 "Good Jobs" can be wiped out by one "Oh Shit"...

With that being said. It appears the only people making money in the crypto community are the piece of shit hackers and scamers. This is sad yet understandable.

Moving forward I have these questions.
1. Is the site still functional and fluid?
2. Has the issue been resolved?
3. If the issue has not been patched, do you have a game plan to correct with a timeline?

I have no anger with you. If this needs to be put on hold to ensure no future loss I have no problem sitting and waiting. Do what you need to do and correct the issues.

Concerning the monthly profit report I would simply like to see a report showing the loss. As an investor I will look at the issue and IF its in my best interest I will re-invest funds providing the issue has been fixed.

Lastly, if the hot wallets were hacked can you post the information so that we can see how this happened? Did someone game the system? How was this done?

This is YOUR creation and I hope you have not lost your passion to this project that you displayed early on that convinced me to invest in YOU. I look forward to your response..

Altdice still paying out profits?

Can anyone verify if it is? I'm not sure if this is an automated feature or manual but I have been unable to get hold of Yogg since the 9th June.

I'm not sure. I have contacted Yogg by email and PM several times over the last two months but haven't heard anything back. I do host two Altdice.net servers and am waiting for payment of 2 months which is overdue.

I do have trust in Yogg but like I said I am still awaiting a response.

The Altdice.net main VPS has been taken down for maintenance and depending on the feedback from the engineers will either be placed back online later today or kept offline for a few days.

Thanks

Take altdice.net offline and see if he will contact you about the site being down.  Very odd to not hear from him.

Thanks. Have done and will keep them operational but offline for the next few months. Yogg is a great part of the crypto community and I'm not a man to jump to any conclusions.

I still haven't had an update off Yogg and the servers will be kept offline. I am hoping Yogg returns and I will keep the servers data for the coming months until I make a decision on how to move forward

As of the 20th August the Altdice.net domain name expired, with a holding page being displayed when visiting the domain name.

Yogg, is your project still alive? It's a bit strange to see it go offline this way without notice. Hope your wallets are safe.

Hello folks,

First of all, I want to apologize for how things turned out.
Here is a detailed version of what happened :

Altdice.net is a multicoin dice website. It was founded in August 2013 and experienced little downtime before the hack.
In march 2015, some offchain dice script was added. Prior to that, I asked a dev to make a review of the code to make sure it's safe to use. (Link to dev PM) (http://s32.postimg.org/aqqzjecpx/dev_reply.jpg)
It appeared the script was fine to run.

It ran for less than two months, then it got hacked. (Link to hack screenshot.) (http://s32.postimg.org/9e2uy9u5f/hacked.jpg)
Most of the funds were gone. There is my first mistake : the onchain and offchain game shared the same hot wallets.
That way, the exploiter took large pieces of both offchain and onchain bankrolls.

Then, and this is hard to mention, I was experiencing hell in my personal life.
I don't want to go into the details, but the hack didn't help. I hate how I went missing, but I could hardly do it otherwise.
That was my worst mistake.

Now, things have changed and life gets better.

Such hack is not likely to happen again.
The original onchain dice game is safe. It was tailor-made by a professional dev and heavily tested.
It processed over 250,000 bets in 18 months, in total. It had some minor bugs at start, but all got fixed.
When time will come to introduce some offchain dice game, I'll make sure it follows the same proceeds and is as reliable as the onchain one.

Altdice was and will be a great service within the cryptocoins communities.

What happens next :

I am relaunching Altdice.net as it was before, an on-chain dice game.
The original onchain game is still great and runs smooth.
Shares are being sold, and the benefits will mainly be used to recover the missing coins.
Everything will be done to restore the game as it was before. It may take some time, but we're on the right path.

I hope that some time of flawless exploitation will heal Altdice.net.
