We're having a small bitcoin attention and awareness thing at London. There will be people in panda suits and other strange things too. We'll have some "less than appropriate for the weather" girls giving out leaflets from various Bitcoin companies (and bitcoin its self) and we'll be holding signs and those not in strange animal costumes will be wearing Bitcoin t-shirts.

Get involved! If you live in England, say so- is it possible for you to come?

hell i live in the US and some of my friends have dressed up in costumes and waved banners for companies around where i live before they only pay like $8-$10/hr max

Idk man, I'm not expecting to be payed for an hour. It's a simple tiny payment to attract attention at a whim, I didn't expect people to buy, I thought it'd be great to just see more unusual things out there.

I dunno, $20 an hour doesn't seem terribly unreasonable.

We'll even give out flyers if that's wanted. Wear a panda suit. (we own a panda suit) whatever~

If I had something to sell, I would pay you to hand out flyers in a panda suit.

It'd be pretty choppy video. (None of us have a decent camera) But we have our profisional photographer friend coming along, so HD photo's.

We'd happily have a mini bitcoin rally.

If we got donations we could probably lend out some fuzzy animal suits too. :P

The location is being debated right now, we want to achieve the following.

1) Be in an area where people might GENUINELY be interested. (Go in stores, hand out leaflets)
2) Not be 'moved along'
3) A place that is convenient to meet at.

Right now we need to sort out funding the event and we'll see what we can do.

I would do 8-9am around Bank. Some photos outside Bank of England will add some press interest.

Don't be like most protesters though and get there at 10am and wonder why there is no-one about!

It's always great to see more people getting involved with-or-without others helping them. Guys like us have to stick together on that front.

That said, I think the typical "dancing on the street like a weirdo" tactic will only serve to make people think bitcoin is weird, and rightfully so.

There is an obvious split here between consumers and businessmen in the bitcoin community. I consider myself a professional both and have equal arguments for both sides. That said, I don't see how this will go the way you're hoping it.

Here's a suggestion: Do all of this without the craziness. Also, as a fellow crazy person (see bittalk.tv), if you ever want to do something crazy together, give me a shout!


To sum up:

No pandas. No prostitutes. Just concerned activists on the street.

Bitcoin is just a method to a solution. You should always expect that your audience will be businessmen more than consumers.

This has already been taken into account, we're doing "two sides" in the street we will simply try and gain attention, however we plan on getting normal people, just wearing t-shirts going in stores, standing in business area's and handing out leaflets.

Tackling consumers in the tourist parts and businesses in the business districts.

Sorry but I guess I've been living too close to Japan for too long to think that a panda bear and a cute girl can be in the same room together without something vile happening.

Also, working on the t-shirts now, however the "previews" don't look as good as the one shown before, however after talking to their customer support it should look just as good once printed. :)

Well for the moment it's scheduled for Febuary-March, probably early febuary. (Too much rain right now)
We've got everyONE sorted, but leaflets and things are a little too much expencive.
