Project Orion

Orion would be a decentralized cross-crypto communication protocol through which you can send and receive "mail" to and from other cryptos (provided they have implemented Orion Protocol). In layman's language, Orion can be known as Crypto-Mail (c-mail).
Suppose you are sending a mail from your Saffroncoin wallet to a Vericoin address, the recipient's c-mail address would be : <vericoin_address>@vericoin. The nodes on the networks of Saffroncoin and any other Orion compatible crypto-currency would route the mail to the destination.

There are P2P messaging services but Orion tends to deepen the crypto world connection by cross-currency communication.
During initial stages, there would be only text mail support but once this protocol gains wider support, we will work on file transfers as attachments just as you do in your normal e-mail.
We will be working with other cryptos to test the Orion protocol.

We are providing 2 types of anonymity techniques.

Do note SFRSend+ is the only anonymizing technique that
allows you to receive your coins without disclosing your wallet
address to the sender
. Just give that person your SFRMS alias
and ask him/her to use the latest wallet. It is not necessary for
the sender to have an SFRMS alias.

http://saffroncoin.com/sfrsendplus.png

We developed this feature keeping in mind the privacy of users
and some suggestions by the community. Many would not like to
disclose their SFR address since anyone can look it up on
the blockchain and find all your transactions and balances.
With SFRSend+, your wallet address privacy is assured.

Do note that a transaction fee of 0.1% is taken for every
transaction.

This post highlights the working of SFRSend/SFRSend+ : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=586320.msg7947438#msg7947438

--------------------------------------

SFRPay

We have received many requests from our users that they were
not able to buy SFR at a particular time because their BTC took
time to arrive. When they wanted to buy, the price was much higher.
We felt we needed to address this and have SFR delivered to them
in as fast as 1 block confirmation. Hence we created SFRPay that
lets you buy SFR with fiat(USD only at present, later will be expanded to EUR, CNY).
Currently the method used is through PayPal.
You can use your existing PayPal account or buy as a guest user with your CC.

We are the first ones to make use of webkit technology in crypto-wallets.
Our first features with webkit included built in IRC and exchange rates.

With Webkit, we can do amazing stuff. We have included
fully-fledged exchanges built into the wallet
. There are various benefits of using in
wallet trading even though you can do the same thing on a
web browser. It depends from person to person. But with in built
wallet trading, you do not have to deal with browser
vulnerabilities or other sort of bugs. Also each webkit
container is independant of itself and doesnt affect the working
of other features in the wallet.

Thanks but just thought that it would be great if Indians would interact on this thread and suggest ideas to promote this coin in India. It would be a great platform for India to enter the crypto market.

From what i have seen the Indian community in here is more friendly if you come here for support during development of the project so that the community here also stays more involved and not just when you need to get your product promoted.
Apart from the fact that this is a coin from an Indian, do you have any other reason to get support from here? There are 3-4 coins for India by other Indians already. According to me India do not need a non-government coin of its own to enter cryto market - it wont make much difference.

It will make a huge difference. Our govt. will never adopt cryptos in its own if u have heard what RBI has to say. It is us who need to make the push. If a Indian crypto becomes real famous, it will give confidence to the Indian Government to see more pros than cons in cryptos. Nothing happens by itself.
My team never made this coin for self purpose or anything. We wanted to promote cryptos in India. Promoting Bitcoin wouldn't make any sense, so we thought by creating an Indian crypto, it would lay the platform for all cryptos in India.
If India becomes an active player, imagine the price of 1 BTC.
Yes, there have been 3-4 cryptos from India, but from what i have seen, they are mainly either projected at India or Asia. So the main market for those cryptos are Asia itself.
From studying the first week of all Indian crypto launches, SFR has received more activity from all over the world, maybe because we aren't projecting it at a particular region but the whole world infact. Many foreigners who have messaged me think that SFR is the first crypto from India and it can become real big since India is a huge market.

Well and i haven't come to the Indian community to get "promoted". I created a PRE-ANN but nobody replied. You can check out the main thread of the coin, where people have any sort of queries, i make sure i clear them. It is strange that for a local community you are supposed to "ask" for support to get support. I have also specified in the thread's "community" part, that we would love any support and you don't have to be a techie to join the community. So from my part, i did come here for support before launching. Also, i am new on this forum so i thought maybe Indians do not use this much.

We Indians love this protocol, that is why we are here. So, we should aim at promoting this stuff in India rather than letting our egos take control of us and decide which is better to make money. I am not talking about SFR but every Indian crypto that people feel could have a future, should be supported.

EDIT : You may think we made this just for profits. Well in the OP is listed that only 400 blocks were premined and most of them are already given away to bounties and promotions. If we aimed at just profits we would certainly have pre-mined much more than 400 blocks.

Thanks

Thanks. Yes Saffron denotes the primary colour of the Indian flag. That is why i thought of this name that would actually denote our country without actually putting the name.
We aim to promote cryptos in India and it would be great if many Indians contributed to it so we may push the Govt. to rethink about the stance of cryptos in India.

even if there are 3-4 coins already launched, India is much less known to the world. The much hyped laxmi coin also did not take off.

as i pointed out in my thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=569378.0

We need dozens of indian cryptos, educating speakers like Andreas antonopolous , interesting projects like the one MIT did 2 days ago,new exchanges, we need kids using their gamin rigs as mining rigs...

So anything related to crypto i fully support

Does saffron coin have new features!

Probably the devs of LaxmiCoin did not go through the project completely. Also, again they were targeting just the Indian Market. I was sent a PM by a very enthusiastic crypto expert from NewYork. He told me SFR is great at not targeting a particular region with the coin. All coins that did may have got initial hype but never succeeded worldwide. It turns worldwide traders off when they see a regional based coin. It is better to unite people by markets and not divide them by nationalities.
That is the reason many cryptos from India never got the pump because either they were targeting a particular state, the country or the sub-continent.

We don't need dozens of Indian cryptos to promote crypto in India. We just need one, done the proper way.
Also you are right, there aren't any multi crypto exchanges in India. There are only bitcoin related exchanges.
So, the same team that brought SFR are also working on creating a multi crypto exchange so Indian traders could trade in INR with trust.

Talking about features of SFR, it is unique in multi algo approach. Only 2 other coins use multi algorithms. It has been designed to be run for a very long time(Longer than Bitcoin i.e. 2040). The main thread has everything. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=586320
Many of your queries may also have been answered by other people likewise.

It would be great if we all could join on IRC and discuss: #saffroncoin

Thanks

Well in a way you are right that many indians do not use this forum but who ever are here form a significant part that cannot be neglected. Atleast you can hear the critics by being here.

I too believe we wont need a dozen coins to get the crypto rolling in India and just a single crypto coin is enough. But i just doubt will it be something other than bitcoin as it is the only coin mostly known as of now. The price should not be a problem - you know that bitcoin can be divided into satoshis.

From what i see i agree this probably is not created for profit - at least not for direct profit.

As long as this coin can do something good, i m here to lend a hand :)

Good luck with your coin !

If you use Linux, you can download the SFR Linux wallet from http://saffroncoin.com
It is tested with CentOS but should work on Ubuntu as well.

No one needs to register and use the forum and not many do.
The forum's value comes from the SEO effort that goes into the back end.
Every post is indexed and easily visible.

I can guarantee that absolutely anyone in India who has heard about Bitcoin, has seen the forums or read through a minimum of 5 posts at some point in time.
There is not a single resource on the Internet which holds as much localized information as the forums.

Hello,
We are planning to implement X11 algorithm as the 4th algorithm into SFR.
What do you all think? Would this be great for SFR given X11 is the talk of 2014 and very energy efficient?
Do give your reviews. If there is a good response, we will look to add it.
Thanks

This is a mock up of the upcoming wallet. We are probably the first and only wallet to feature a Tweet Box! You can now stay up to date with the news surrounding SaffronCoin  just by your wallet.
You no longer need to type commands to see the difficulties. Everything is right on your Wallet home and the data will be automatically updated every 5 minutes. Same thing for exchanges, update time for that is 15 minutes. As we get on more exchanges, those exchanges will automatically be shown.

The wallet will be available for download mostly on Monday. I will later update the exact time info in UTC.
We still have work to do on it. Some tweaking left and 1 major feature will be added which will show if there is a new wallet update available.
We are also thinking of including a market graph page in the wallet that shows the market data for all exchanges. This will not be available now since it is quite tough and needs time to implement. But hopefully in a future update, we will look to implement it.

Our basic idea is, a wallet should not be just your bank balance. It should be the perfect and easy to use interface to interact with the coin!

Do let us know if you would like a new feature added. We would look to implement it if it is possible in a day's time otherwise we will certainly look to add it in the future.

A new logo and a new website redesign will also be implemented. Everything will be launched together.

I would like to thank everyone on this that supported SFR. Your support makes us work harder and provide with the best!

It's time to take SFR to the Moon guys!

New Wallet Update is now live for Windows!
We call it the Revolutionary Wallet since it has best of goodies packed in it.
The Wallet version is 2.0.
Download it from http://saffroncoin.com

Wallet 2.0 Features
- First Wallet to feature a Tweet Box so you can stay up to date regarding the news surrounding SaffronCoin.
- Display the Difficulties for each algorithm and the number of blocks right from the home screen so you do not have to type commands.  This data will be updated every 5 minutes.
- Exchange rates are automatically fetched from the top 2 exchanges having the highest volume of SaffronCoin and displayed on the home screen. This data will be updated every 15 minutes.
- Notifies you if there is a Wallet Update.
- First Wallet to feature built in IRC. Now chat with the SaffronCoin community right from your Wallet. The channel is #saffroncoin (Case Sensitive).

Issues that may be encountered
Since most of the features are loaded from the web, if you have a slower connection, it may take time for the data to be loaded. If you feel any of the data is taking time to load, just close the wallet and open it again. It should load faster.
Give the IRC Page 2-3 minutes to load on slow connections. Once it is loaded, it will work seamlessly fast.
If the Tweet Box hasn't loaded within 60 seconds, close the wallet and open it again. It will load faster.

Wallet Download Specifications
Wallet Version - 2.0.0.0-unk
File Version - 2.0.0.0
File Description - Saffroncoin-Qt (OSS GUI client for SaffronCoin)
Wallet Zip File Download Size : 39MB (The File size is quite large comparatively because of the extra goodies packed)

Wallet Installation
Download the Revolutionary wallet 2.0 for Windows from http://saffroncoin.com
After Download, extract the ZIP File to your preferred location.
Enter the location where you have installed the Wallet and scroll to the bottom till you find saffroncoin-qt.exe . Open it up and wait till the Wallet loads. If you are running the wallet for the first time, it may ask you that it needs atleast 10GB to store the Blockchain. Just click OK even if you do not have 10GB in your "C" drive. It may take years till the Blockchain gets to 10GB.
DO NOT REMOVE OR CHANGE ANY FILE FROM THE EXTRACTED FOLDER. ALL FILES ARE REQUIRED TO RUN THE WALLET!

Our basic idea is, a wallet should not be just your bank balance. It should be the perfect and easy to use interface to interact with the coin in every possible way!
The SaffronCoin team would like to thank everyone that supported and believed in SFR. Your support makes us work harder and provide with the best!

If some of you feel you do not need this Revolutionary Version or it does not work properly on your computer, you can always use the Classic Version of the SaffronCoin Wallet available on the SaffronCoin Website which is at present 1.0.0.1.
The Classic Versions will have the naming conventions of 1.0,1.1,1.2.....1.9 . Security Updates will continue to be provided to the Classic Version until we make an official statement that we will stop.
The Revolutionary Version will have the naming conventions of 2.0,2.1,2.2.....2.9.
When a 3.0 Version comes out it will be called something else and it will be much bigger and advanced than the Revolutionary Version.

P.S. Revolutionary Wallet is only available for Windows. The SFR Dev Team has put in a lot of effort to get all these extra features working properly and at present we do not have the time and effort to implement this version for Mac and Linux wallets. We are really sorry for that but in the future we will look to implement this version for more Operating Systems. Before that, if anyone can create a Revolutionary Version for the other operating systems, we would give a good bounty.

Pool Operators and Exchanges do not need to update their Wallets. Only the GUI has been updated.
This update hasn't been pushed to Github. The classic versions will be pushed to http://github.com/saffroncoin/saffroncoin . A new github link will be created for the revolutionary version so they both don't merge.

Hope you all enjoy the Wallet. If you find any bugs or issues do let us know! Is this the most feature-packed (or should i say best) wallet out there? The Dev Team is gonna take a break for a few days and then we will start working on the X11 algorithm.

IMPORTANT: Those that are having problems with the Tweet Box not loading in the Wallet 2.0, i found out it is basically of the new twitter API. It does not load on webkit browsers/apps such as chrome. If you have chrome, you can open it and load any website containing a tweet box. The tweet box will not load. It works on browsers not built on webkit. This bug has been reported by many people to twitter and they should be looking to fix it.

Since this QT wallet also uses webkit, the same issue occurs. We will be following their update, and when they fix it, the tweets will automatically start showing in your wallet.
Some do not have this problem so we can't recompile the wallet without this feature. Those that do not have this issue need not update to anything.

For those having this issue, we will be uploading another wallet only eliminating the tweet box feature so you don't have to see a white box. Once this issue is solved by twitter, we will update and you can download the complete wallet.

For those having IRC Recaptcha issue, we are still working on it. You can use a workaround for that : right mouse click, copy URL to clipboard. Paste to web browser. Solve captcha.

Thank you for understanding

If you do not have the Playbill font installed, the Big SFR balance text may look a bit odd in the Revolutionary Wallet. Please download the font from here :
http://fontzone.net/font-download/playbill .

On Windows 8 just double click the font to install.
ON earlier versions, you need to copy it to C:\Windows\Fonts

We will try to integrate it in the Wallet in a future version.
Cheers!

This is our update :
We will be releasing a wallet to support the hardfork in a few hours.
We are currently working on introducing the blake algorithm for merged mining but it is creating some issues. Blake non-merged mining is going well but with merged mining there are possibilities that other algorithms may get affected since the hashing functions are entirely different.
The Blakecoin developer is helping us getting it ready for merged mining. If it works successfully, we will include it in this hardfork or else just the non-merged blake will be included.

Mandatory Update : HARD FORK at block 112,999 (Approx. June 6, 2014, 07:30 GMT)
Please update your wallets to the latest version 1.2 to be prepared for the HardFork

Pools, Exchanges, Block Explorers and other clients can update the new code v1.2 from http://github.com/saffroncoin/saffroncoin
Wallet Client users can download your respective latest versions from http://saffroncoin.com (Classic Wallet - v1.2 or Revolutionary Wallet - v2.1)

Features of this HardFork

X11 Algorithm added as the 4th Algorithm into the coin.
Blake Algorithm added as the 5th Algorithm into the coin.
Digishield difficulty adjustment method added.

Block Reward has been reduced to 50 coins per block hence also reducing the super block reward to 250.
Minimum Block Reward beyond which halving stops is 0.1 SFR
Block Reward halving duration is increased to every 1036800 blocks (approx. 1 year)
Due to the addition of 2 more algorithms, the difficulty is now readjusted every 2.5 minutes (30 seconds per algorithm)

MAC and Linux wallets will updated in a day.

***Info on Blake Mining***

At present the Blake algorithm for SFR can be mined solo or in a pool but it can't be merged mined yet. We spent some time on figuring it out to get it merged mined with other blake coins but that would end disturbing the structure of other algorithms in the coin. At present, due to the nature of merged mining, it is not technically possible to have SFR blake algo merge mined without affecting the functioning of other algorithms at present. But in the future we will devise a way to make it possible. We are working with the Developer of Blakecoin to get merged mining possible for SFR. Hopefully we can come to a solution in the future.

What would this HardFork mean to SafffronCoin?

SaffronCoin would become the first multi algorithm coin to feature X11 and Blake algorithms.
SaffronCoin would become the first multi algorithm coin to feature Digishield.
SaffronCoin's awesome Revolutionary Wallet will get even more awesome in a future update.

HardFork V1.2.1

We apologize to alter the original hardfork and ask you all to update your wallets again. There was an inflation problem that had to be checked. We needed to change the specs a bit. The hardfork time will remain the same i.e June 6, 07:30 GMT at block 112,999.

Please do update your clients and wallets to v1.2.1 from http://github.com/saffroncoin/saffroncoin
If you use the classic version of the windows wallet, download v1.2.1 from http://saffroncoin.com
If you use the revolutionary version of the windows wallet, download v2.1.1 from http://saffroncoin.com

These are the new specs that would kick in after the hardfork:

-Block time increased to 90 secs on average across 5 algorithms.
-Block reward will remain 72 SFR.
-Block reward will halve approx every 18 months (518400 blocks).
-960 blocks will be produced per day. (Reduced due to inflation of coins)
-X11 algorithm added as 4th algorithm.
-Blake256 algorithm added as 5th algorithm.
-Digishield difficulty adjustment method added.

Some interesting features also added :

There will be a superblock week after the end of every year for the 1st 5 years where the block reward will be 5 times the block reward at that time. For the 5th year, the superblock week will have a block reward of 7 times the block reward at that time.

We again apologize for the inconvenience caused in updating your wallets again. Please do update, otherwise the hardfork will not be successful.

When the hardfork kicks in tomorrow, to mine using X11 you need to specify algo=x11 in the conf.
To mine using blake, you need to specify algo=blake or algo=blake256 in the conf.

There was a bug in v1.3.1 which caused a few blocks to be found every second. We have rectified this into another hardfork which would take place at block 120,290.

Please update your wallets to v1.3.2 (Classic) or v2.2.2 (Revolutionary) which would solve this problem.

We need your views/opinions on our upcoming feature! We are going to make our awesome multi-tasking wallet even more awesome!

We are looking to Socializing the wallet!

Again SaffronCoin is known for wallet features, never seen before because we believe in your wallet to not be just your bank account lying minimized to only check your balance :P.

This is what we propose and we need your views to proceed -

- You will have your own personal wallet profile.
- You can assign your wallet a name (optional - your name or an alias or remain anonymous).
- A pic of your choice to denote who you are (optional).
- You can add a limited amount of "friends" using their wallet address. Chat with them and send coins to them right from your wallet!
- Update statuses from your wallet.

We want to take crypto-wallets to the next level! Change the way people use their crypto wallets.

Such features would back our statement : "Transfer money to your loved ones instantly anywhere in the world".

We may not include all the features proposed above. These are proposed ideas and we would try our best to include most. Also if you want something included, please do say. We will try to include it.

We will start working on it once we get some feedback. Please do give your views!

We are proposing 2 types of chats for our upcoming chat addition to the multi-tasking wallet :

1. Registered Chat - For this you would need to login with a username and pass. The benefit is you can add contacts to your list if they have registered. You can view a chat history. You can chat with multiple contacts at once.

2. Unregistered Chat - No registration, you only need to provide a username. Just input another user's username who you would like to chat with if that user is online. You can only have 1 chat per session. Useful if you only want to send a direct message to someone.

OR

3. Include Both and ask the user to choose.

We will be using the cool Windows 8 chat styles.

This system will be powered by node.js.

Please give your views.

Modifying our Chat System, I am pleased to announce that we are working on SFRMS - SaffronMessagingService.

You can receive SMS and Email whenever a transaction occurs on your Wallet! Your wallet does not need to be open to get these notifications. You just to verify your wallet once with your mobile/email and get alerts!

We will also couple this with sending chat messages as well as files.

We will be pushing out a Beta Update in a few days.

Announcing: The first ever SaffronCoin-Blake algo Mining Pool and GPU Miner

http://nomp.cloudapp.net/ (http://nomp.cloudapp.net/)

Features:
  • No registration.  Use your wallet address as username
  • Payouts processed every 2 minutes after 120 confirms
  • VARDIFF stratum
  • 2% mining fee

CGMiner downloads for Mining on GPU:
  • These binaries are required, and will only work with SaffronCoin blake algo
  • Stratum and solo mining
  • You cannot mine SaffronCoin with the BlakeCoin miner.

CGMiner Windows Binaries: https://github.com/Griffitsj/cgminer-saffron/releases/download/saffron-1.0/cgminer-saffron-windows.zip (https://github.com/Griffitsj/cgminer-saffron/releases/download/saffron-1.0/cgminer-saffron-windows.zip)

  • 6870 1.00GH/s

Please note: I am not a professional pool operator.  I am trying to help the community by providing this service and as stated this is an open beta test so expect a few teething problems.  Support will be via PM on bitcointalk and I will try my best to sort out any issues as and when they arise but I am not available 24/7.

If you are not getting your payments then please ensure you wait 3-4 hours as SaffronCoin has 120 confirmations before paying out.

We are announcing the first Alpha release of the Saffron Messaging Service Wallet (SFRMS)- v2.3-alpha-unstable

What is SFRMS?
The Saffron Messaging Service is a tool built into the SaffronCoin Multi-Tasking Wallet to notify its users of any transactions of any SFR address through email/sms. You do not need to have your wallet open to receive alerts. This service will also be expanded to send anonymous messages to any SaffronCoin address. These anonymous messages will automatically be deleted once read. We call this anonymous messaging "POOF!" which to disappear.

SFRMS is designed to give you the best user experience/requirement possible that you expect from a crypto-currency.

Currently, notifications through SMS is not active, we are working with international sms gateways to make SFRMS sms notification possible in most countries. When this is available, you do not need to update your wallet. The wallet streams the SFRMS data from our servers and you can activate sms alerts instantly.

How to activate SFRMS for a SFR address?
1. Click the SFRMS tab in your wallet v2.3-alpha-unstable.
2. Enter a SFR address which you would like to monitor along with your personal email address that you would like to receive alerts on.

That's it! Once you get a confirmation, you can close this unstable alpha wallet. You will receive alerts even when your wallet is closed. You can then open your stable wallet v2.2.2/v1.3.2. We recommend that you use this stable wallet for any mining/transactions.

http://saffroncoin.com/sfrmsnew1.png

How does SFRMS work?
All information is taken from the blockchain. You do not need to manually check the block explorer for transactions on an address. With SFRMS, you can receive these alerts manually. You can monitor any number of addresses that you want! It saves you a lot of time!

http://saffroncoin.com/sfrmsnew2.png

Please note that this is an unstable release. You may encounter various bugs and vulnerabilities. If you do encounter any problems, please post them on this forum or mail us to contact@saffroncoin.com . Please use the stable wallets v2.2.2/v1.3.2 for any other uses.

Download SFRMS compatible wallet v2.3-alpha-unstable from saffroncoin.com (http://saffroncoin.com)

PROCESSOR
Processor   Core i3 (2nd Gen)
Variant   2350M
Chipset   Mobile HM65 Express
Brand   Intel
Clock Speed   2.3 GHz
Cache   3 MB

GRAPHICS
Dedicated Graphics Memory Type   DDR3
Dedicated Graphics Memory Capacity   1 GB
Graphic Processor   ATI Graphics

I just found SFR is now down to 131 in coinmarketcap.com. Any reason for this fall ?

Due to Vericoin. People are selling other coins and buying VRC. All coins will fall for a few more days till the VRC hype subsides.

How to earn SFR ? Any giveaway/faucet ? Can it be mined with laptop ?

Our giveaway just got over. We may start one after some days. You can mine with a laptop if you have a pretty powerful one with a good gpu. Otherwise it would be difficult since the difficulties are high.
You can also buy some from https://www.bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-SFR

Well... how is the following configuration for SFR mining ?

PROCESSOR
Processor   Core i3 (2nd Gen)
Variant   2350M
Chipset   Mobile HM65 Express
Brand   Intel
Clock Speed   2.3 GHz
Cache   3 MB

GRAPHICS
Dedicated Graphics Memory Type   DDR3
Dedicated Graphics Memory Capacity   1 GB
Graphic Processor   ATI Graphics

I just found SFR is now down to 131 in coinmarketcap.com. Any reason for this fall ?

Due to Vericoin. People are selling other coins and buying VRC. All coins will fall for a few more days till the VRC hype subsides.

Your configuration is good for mining Scrypt or X11 algos of SaffronCoin.

What does it mean ? Is not it like Bitcoin with only one algo ? I just found in the OP...

Quote
1- SHA256D
2- SCRYPT
3- GROESTL
4- X11
5- BLAKE256

Does all the coins mined through different algo have the same value ?

p.s. Sorry for being noob. I'm not verse with all these...

It is different. This algorithm can be mined using 5 algorithms.
All will give you the same block reward.

Every algo is independent of each other.
A block will be found for every algo every 450 secs.

So it doesn't really matter which algo you mine.

SFR targets most miners.

WoW ...that's awesome. Is it the only coin that is employing this tactics ? and dont u think that someone will be spending more electricity/hardware to mine the same thing while someone else will mine it easier using a diff algo ?

Yes some might use more electricity if they mine with graphics card. But 2 algos, SHA256d and Scrypt can be mined using ASICS. ASICS are specialized hardware and use much electricity than GPUs.
So people who have ASICS, would mine the SHA256d or Scrypt algos. Those who don't have can mine the remaining 3 algorithms with GPU or CPU.

So it benefits everyone.

3 coins use this kind of concept. But SFR is the first and only multi algo coin to implement the X11 and Blake algorithms. These 2 algorithms are the most energy efficient algorithms today.

Mock showing a message through SaffronCoin POOF anonymous encrypted messaging service. Beta wallet in 2 days!

POOF! is one of the most secure messaging platforms. Your recipient gets 15 secs to read the message. Then the message is automatically destroyed. A message can contain a max of 100 chars(this could be altered in the final release).

You can also encrypt your messages with a key of your choice. You need to transmit this key to your recipient so he/she can decrypt your encrypted message.

POOF! will undergo more developments to make it the most secure and anonymous messaging platform yet.

You do not have to worry about people/agencies snooping on your email or social networks. POOF! is entirely anonymous and only needs an alias to send a message.

Hi, could you spend a minute and explain how this messaging work technically. Very curious soul is asking.

Yea sure.

I will talk about the anonymous part first.

First to activate this anonymous messaging service, you need to verify your SFR address. You need to sign a message called "SFRMS" in your wallet with your SFR address. If you have your wallet, you can click the receive tab and at the bottom there would be a "Sign Message" button. After you enter your SFR address and the message - "SFRMS", click "Sign Message". A signature will then be provided. Then you need to paste those details on the SFRMS tab for verifying. I will explain this in detail once we release the Beta wallet.

You need to provide an alias or some name that you would like to use for this service. This is the only thing that is public. Others can send you a message only by knowing your Alias. So no private info is given out. Your alias is paired with your SFR address. But you only need to give out your Alias to the sender for receiving messages. This is done because many people would not like to give out their wallet addresses to others even though it is public. They would not like people checking the block explorer with their address to find their balance or transactions. So with just an alias you can remain truly anonymous and message anybody in a safe way without worrying about anyone snooping since the messages are deleted within 15 secs once you open message.
This part could lead to some illegal messaging since these messages can't be traced and are not stored anywhere. This service can be misused. So as a precaution we store the messages offline and will only be checked if found that this service is being misused.  Since the messages are not stored online at our server, your messages cannot be compromised.

Now about the encryption part.

If you want you can encrypt the message with a key. This key can be any sort of text that only you and your recipient should know.
The encrypted message will get transmitted to your recipient and he can only view the message with the key that you used.

Thats it! It is pretty simple to use it. Many of us would not have many uses for it. But some who wish to remain anonymous or send some sensitive messages and are worried about agencies snooping on their mail, this could really be an alternative that could be of very much use to them.

I hope i was able to make you understand. If you do have any more queries please ask!

Bro, this is truly some work! How/where exactly the messages are stored? How does it propogate messages? Do the full SFR nodes need to keep it? Also I guess you mentioned somewhere about perishable messages.

Thank you.

We are using the same concept of the Snapchat app where the messages are self destroyed after some time.

This is not peer-to-peer. If we had to make it like that then the messages can't be deleted because all of them would have to be written on top of the SFR blockchain. Also the blockchain is public so anyone can read your messages. So there is no privacy in it.
Also we want to expand this service to include image transfers too. Every basic necessity to be present right in your wallet. These things can also be done using other services too. But those services would need your personal info and your data is stored on their servers until it is personally deleted. We wanted to maintain privacy of users and keep them anonymous. So all you need is to choose a unique alias and pair it with your wallet address. You can then send messages to any other alias.
With P2P we can't achieve this and could interfere with the blockchain and cause a lot of problems later.

So the messages pass through our server and stored until the recipient opens the message. Once the message is opened, after 15 secs the server automatically deletes the message. So no trace of the message is left anywhere. But yes the user can take a screenshot or copy the message somewhere or even use a camera phone to capture it.

We have added SaffronCoin to our pool: http://poollo.com (X11 ALGO) , check it out here and spread the load!! :

http://poollo.com

You only need your SaffronCoin address as username, no need to register:
http://poollo.com

We have 3 different ports for different difficulties:

stratum+tcp://poollo.com:20008       <--- Fixed diff 0.01
stratum+tcp://poollo.com:20032       <--- Vardiff (0.01 / 2)
stratum+tcp://poollo.com:20256       <--- Fixed diff 1

The 32 one is auto adjust between 0.01 and 2 with target Time: 15, retarget Time: 90, variance Percent: 30

Fees are 0.9%, and payments are calculated and automatically sent to the wallet mining address every 2 minutes.

Just finished testing our Encrypted Messaging feature.

The Encryption we are using is AES-256-CBC. Highly secure for your 100 char messages.

POOF! is very secure because if someone wants to crack your confidential message, they will have just 15 secs to do that. No matter if you have the fastest computer in the world, you can't crack a AES-256-CBC encryption in 15 secs!

Saffron Messaging Service Activation

These are the steps to activate SFRMS. It is pretty simple. You just need to verify your wallet address and provide an alias. For those that are new to cryptos or non-english speaking people, I have posted screenshots. In the future, we will look to develop it in different languages.

These same steps are required for new as well as already activated users.

1. Click on the "Receive" tab of your wallet. Click on an address which you would like to use for your SFRMS requirements. Then click the "Copy Address" button right at the bottom.

http://saffroncoin.com/sfrmstutorial1.png

2. Paste that address in your SFRMS form like shown below:

http://saffroncoin.com/sfrmstutorial2.png

3. Again go back to the "Receive" tab. Click on the "Sign Message" button which is right at the bottom.

http://saffroncoin.com/sfrmstutorial3.png

4. Now the message that you need to enter that will be signed HAS TO BE "SFRMS". Some may wonder why all have to enter the same vague and short message. It doesn't really matter because you will only be using the SFRMS portal through the wallet. So there is no chance of any phishing attack. But if you need to sign a message on other platforms such as a website, then it is necessary to use a more detailed message. Also, these steps are only to verify that you own your SFR address. So you must exactly type "SFRMS" as shown below. Then just click the "Sign Message" button. Your unique signature will be displayed. Copy that.

http://saffroncoin.com/sfrmstutorial4.png

5. Now paste the signature in the below text box. Choose a unique alias that is not already taken. Remember that you can't change your alias later. Your alias will be paired with your SFR address. This provides an extra level of anonymity in POOF! since you only need to give out this alias to people from whom you want to receive anonymous messages from. No personal details or your SFR address is ever required or given out in anonymous messaging. That's it! Click that blue button and then you can activate Email alerts or enter the POOF! portal for anonymous encrypted messaging.

http://saffroncoin.com/sfrmstutorial5.png

All this does not really take 5 steps, but I tried to detail it out as much as I can so if anybody has a problem, they can always look it up and understand better.

Wallet v2.3-beta will be released in approx. 90 mins!

Multi-Tasking Wallet v2.3-beta including the Saffron Messaging Service (SFRMS) is now live!

Please download the the wallet v2.3-beta from saffroncoin.com (http://saffroncoin.com).

What is SFRMS?

We wanted to create a service that could interact with the coin through common and widely used communication mediums such as Email and SMS. Instead of relying on 3rd party apps we wanted to provide our own secure transaction alerts for users similar to the way we get Email or SMS alerts when we withdraw or deposit money from/into our bank accounts respectively.
Keeping in mind the privacy of users and the demand in confidential messaging considering the rise in number of snooping agencies around us, we wanted to develop a secure anonymous encrypted messaging system that could transmit your message securely without giving out a single bit of your personal info and self destroy the message without leaving any trace behind. Hence we created POOF! which is a part of SFRMS.

POOF!

POOF! allows sending short 100 character messages and provides the receiver of the message 15 secs to read the message after which it will get self destroyed hence leaving no trace behind. You can send either a plain text message or an encrypted message. Encrypted messages use the AES-256-CBC encryption to encrypt your message. You need to enter any key of your choice to encrypt a message and provide the same key to your recipient to decrypt the message.

POOF! will be expanded in the future to include various types of data that can be transmitted anonymously. Due to this as well as the self destroying capability of messages, POOF! doesn't use the Blockchain to transmit the messages otherwise the messages would end up being public and wouldn't be automatically deleted.

POOF! is mighty secure and truly anonymous since no personal info of yours is given out but you can send a message to any person in the world who has activated SFRMS. With messages getting auto destroyed within 15 secs of the recipient opening the message, you can be well assured of your privacy and integrity of the message!

How to activate SFRMS?

It is very simple if you know how to verify an address. It hardly takes 30secs. You then need to just choose an alias and give that alias out to whomever you wish to receive messages from.
For details on activation please read this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=586320.msg7693945#msg7693945

http://saffroncoin.com/sfrwalletdisplay.png

We have included an awesome fully-fledged block explorer into the wallet.

http://saffroncoin.com/mockwalletexplorer.png

We can now proudly say that we have raised the bar for innovative wallets and we now probably have the best and most feature-packed wallet!

Please note that SFRMS is in beta stage. Even though we have thoroughly tested, there might be a few bugs. If you find any please do report them. It would help us a lot!

Hello Community,

We have been thinking of a lot of features over past few weeks. We will be implementing most of them in due time. But we need to prioritize these features and implement the ones that most matter to people today.

So we are going to put our anonymous messaging platform POOF! development on hold now and resume it sometime later. We do not feel that this service is an absolute requirement at this stage.

We would like to prioritize other features first. Some of you requested a service similar to VeriBit. We feel this is a good necessity and a requirement. We would be only the second to implement it after VRC. This would also make people to "hold" on to SFR rather than "buy low sell high".
So we will start implementing this feature asap. We will be calling it SFRBit that converts SFR to BTC to buy stuff on places that accept Bitcoin.

The other priority features in line would be like someone suggested, a decentralized marketplace and anonymizing the coin.

These 2 are also good requirements. The anonymity that we would provide would be in form of optional stealth addresses. We can only be more clear on this once we start the development.
For a decentralized market, we will have a separate portal built in the wallet that lets you buy and sell goods anonymously.

Our next wallet will have a built-in exchange and SFRBit!

I am posting an update on our progress:

The client is almost ready for SFRBit, we are now the downloading the entire Bitcoin Blockchain on a separate node that processes SFRBit transactions. In the time it is taking to download the Blockchain, we thought of working on anonymity.

We could very well have our anon feature "SFRSend" alongwith SFRBit in the next wallet update. We can't confirm this yet but we are working on it.

Our implementation of anon is pretty good because we would not be needing a hardfork. The transactions will be anonymized only if you use the wallet not the rpc commands.

Your transaction will be bounced on many nodes thus making it difficult to track the sender. Your amount will also be split to multiple nodes and sent to your destination address in small parts.
All this could take about 1-2 hours for your entire amount to reach the destination. It depends on the amount of cycles you choose to anonymize your transaction. The more cycles you choose, the more difficult it would be to track but would also take longer to reach your destination.

We are thinking of implementing "Stealth disposable addresses" for you to anonymize your transactions. You can use those addresses only once. It is like use and throw.

We can confirm in detail on this only after a few days after we successfully test SFRBit.

Hey guys, we are pleased to say that our SFRBit has just been successfully tested. We tested it by sending some amount to an exchange.

There is some final cleaning up of the code and some final testing left. After that we will start work on SFRSend, our method to anonymize transactions by bouncing the transaction.

We will have 2 versions of SFRSend. We don't know what to name it as of yet. But the normal version would function as any normal anonymity send feature. Another version would be even more anonymous since u wouldn't know the recipient's address. You can anonymously send SFR to that person only by knowing his/her alias. Thanks to vipin for this suggestion.
But for this version of anonymity, you need to activate SFRMS in your wallet and choose an alias so it is paired with your SFR address.

More detail once we start working on it.

We could have the next wallet release this Weekend if everything goes well!

There is another very unique feature that we have thought of that would be an asset for many SFR users. The development time for this is a bit more so this won't be included in the upcoming wallet but would very well be in the one after this.

This is the screenshot of the SFRBit client :

Some of you might send screenshots of your wallet to others. But you might not want your balance and transactions to be displayed. So you would edit your screenshot and then send it to someone. To minimize this effort, now with the click of a button, all your balances and your transactions will be hidden and replaced with a text "CLOAKED". It would also be useful if you do not want snooping eyes over your shoulder especially when you use SFRMS or check the tweetbox and not worrying about people around u having a look at your "stack" in public places such as offices.

Many of us wouldn't require this. But some would. This is also a "light" feature so it wouldn't increase the size of the wallet by a great deal.

This is a mock of the SFRSend client.

We are providing 2 versions to anonymize transactions. This is a brief overview of how it will work :

1st one is SFRSend. It works by first breaking down your amount into 3 equal smaller amounts. These 3 smaller amounts will be sent to 3 separate random addresses. You need to choose the bouncing cycles before using SFRSend. By default it is set to 1. The more the cycles, the more difficult it is to trace your transaction but would also send your amount to your destination at a much slower rate. After bouncing on multiple nodes, the 3 separate amounts will join into 1 amount and reach your destination from a random address.

2nd one is SFRSend+. This provides even more anonymity and privacy. If you wish to receive SFR from someone, you do not need to give your SFR address to that person. Just ask for his/her SFR alias. If you have used SFRMS in your previous beta wallet, you would know that you can choose an alias and pair your existing SFR address with it. This is done so that you do not have to give out your SFR address to the world. Your alias would be the only thing that you would need to give out to the public. If you do not have an SFR alias right now, no probs you can always make one in the new wallet. Detailed instructions on setting it up would be given at the upcoming wallet release.
SFRSend+ is also even more faster. You do not need any cycles for this. Everything else remains the same as SFRSend.

We could probably have this ready by this Weekend!

Hello,
A few days back we told you all that we would develop a unique feature for a future wallet release. I would like to update our Roadmap now and include this. This would not be included in this upcoming release but could very well be in the one after this.

A few days back I had a PM sent by someone who wanted to buy huge amounts of SFR at a single price and if anyone was willing to sell. A thought then struck me about providing a platform where buyers and sellers meet independent of any exchange and decide their own prices. On exchanges you won't have that huge volume to buy/sell at 1 particular price.
So we thought of providing a built-in escrow service handled by us. Buyers/Sellers can set their own prices. A bit similar to localbitcoins.com. All this can be done within your wallet. Our wallet is known to do some pretty awesome stuff and this would be the icing on the cake!

We were thinking of what to call this. We then came up with the name, "SFRDirect". It basically means connecting a buyer and seller for 1 huge order directly.

Would like to know your views on this name as well as this feature!

Another feature that some of the members on IRC thought of and which could be really useful is "SFRPay". You can buy SFR using PayPal directly from your wallet.

One long term feature that we would like to discuss is a "Donation" button into the wallet for various charitable organizations and Trusts around the World. With the help of you all, we could partner with many organizations around the world and provide any sort of help we can for those in need.

We would like to change the way cryptos are looked at. Most cryptos barring maybe 4-5 are all traded with a mindset of buy low sell high. Eventually everybody wants to sell at som point.
After some thinking and discussion, we decided upon all of these features and we feel that by including all this, SFR would indeed do the job what crypto-currencies were originally drafted out to do i.e. provide an alternate, secure, anonymous form of payment for goods/services or basically anything that you could buy with cash rather than be just a buy low sell high coin.

In a few days time we will have all 3 Roadmaps ready i.e. short, medium and long term so that you can get an idea of where we are going.

Also what do u guys think about all of us having a Google hangout and getting to know each other some time. Some of u have supported us right from the start even during our lows and would like to thank you all for not letting go of the handle! I guess this could provide some transparency.
It would be nice if we could integrate the hangout into the wallet. Lol.  ;D We may try to.

So would like to know your thoughts on all this and SFRDirect because that is a near time feature.

Regards

Hey guys, we are pleased to announce that SFRSend has been successfully tested for 2 cycles now. Sent some coins "anonymously" to Bittrex  :P. Bittrex is usually slow to accept transactions. Even normal deposits take some time to show up on Bittrex. But to other wallets, the transaction time is normal as designed.

1 anonymous bouncing cycle would take about 3-4 mins for your amount to reach your destination (On Bittrex, much longer. It took about 10-15mins).

We are keeping a max of 5 cycles. We suggest for best of speed+efficiency, use 3 cycles. Ofcourse this is for those that use SFRSend over SFRSend+.

With SFRSend+, you don't have to choose any cycles. It is a fixed amount that works well with an alias.

I do not know much about how other coins use anonymity except DRK but I feel our anonymity is unique. This is why -

Biggest uniqueness! Privacy matters! You do not want to give out your SFR address to anyone because you do not want them to look up your address on the blockchain and find out how much stack you have. So just give them an SFR alias which you choose by activating the Saffron Messaging Service (SFRMS)! Another good thing is that your sender does not need to have an SFRMS alias. You can just ask any person on the planet who has an SFR address to send you coins without disclosing your address!

I know that few coins break down the amount you are sending into smaller pieces. But they don't break it down in random amounts and combine everything in the end. SFRSend/SFRSend+ breaks your amount into random smaller amounts and transmitted to the next bouncing cycle. So in case if someone knows your sending amount and really wants to spend time tracing your transaction, it would be very difficult. The amount will not remain the same and it is broken into random smaller amounts and distributed across various random addresses. In the end all the smaller amounts are combined into one and sent to your destination. Other coins that break down amounts, do not combine it in the end and send it to the destination in small amounts. This is not helpful if you wish to do anonymous payments. Because the payment gateway would not accept broken amounts and only the whole amount for the product/service you wish to buy.

Finally, we are the only ones to provide multiple anon methods. You all know how community centric we are and we do not want to implement only 1 type of stuff because "one man's food is another man's poison". We showed this by keeping both the types of wallets - MultiTasking and the Classic Wallets. Also we are continuously receiving downloads for both the types of wallets. So it is best to let people decide what to use. The same reason why we wanted to use multiple algos for the coin because to target various people and let them choose what they want to mine! And now, we are giving an option for both kinds of anon and let our users choose which they like. But the basic anon - SFRSend may be stripped out after some time once SFRSend+ is more widely used only because SFRSend tends to bloat the blockchain a bit more and in no way is it better than SFRSend+.

We are developing the SFRSend+ UI now and that is what is left to be tested. Will post a screenshot once we have that!

This is the mock of the client for SFRSend+ . You only use the section in the center for SFRSend+; recipient's alias and the amount.
Some have asked the kind of anonymity that we are using. Many think that those cycles are "mixing" cycles. No we are not using the mixing method. Mixing mixes your funds with someone else and transmits it. This kind of bloats the blockchain. We are implementing a method that doesn't bloat the blockchain much and anonymizes transactions efficiently.
We are using Bouncing cycles. Your amount first gets broken down into random smaller pieces and sent to random addresses on multiple nodes. Those small amounts bounce from node to node according to the number of cycles that you have provided. Once all the bounces are complete, those smaller amounts are then combined and sent to your destination from an entirely random and remote address.

SFRSend+ works the same but you do not need to specify the amount of cycles and the recipient's address. Just input the recipient's alias and enter the amount to send. The same process follows where the amount is broken down and bounced on nodes.

Do note that there will be some extra transaction fees for using anon. This is done to prevent unnecessary anonymizing which would end up bloating the blockchain.

Using an API from an exchange to get the current market rate.

We have a SFRBit server that checks the current rate and transfers the appropriate SaffronCoins to a secure location and sends equivalent bitcoins to the destination the user specified.

Got it. That's what I was asking. This is actually better than using exchanges for this purpose because exchanging it through exchanges may not strengthen the SFR value against BTC since everyone's selling SFR.

I guess you have kept a fat wallet for this SFRbit :-)

Yea also on exchanges it causes prices to drop drastically. But then even we sell those SFR ultimately because we need to replenish the BTC.

At present I am keeping limitations on the max amount that can be sent. I am not very rich to hold a lot of BTC. So right now i have kept some to initiate this conversion. But soon i will be looking at some external exchanges. I will try asking Unocoin if they can provide an API and host the SFR daemon just to handle this conversion. Also BTC kept is not actually spent because the SFR received will be converted back to BTC for us soon enough to not have huge price fluctuations. Once this becomes quite popular, we need a huge BTC wallet. So its best to partner with many exchanges to make this possible. It is also a very essential feature. You can buy stuff on ebay with SFR even if you don't have BTC.

Now, a different question: how many megahashes scrypt and how many gigahashes sha256 is required to solve a block in every 1 hour? I know it varies but an aprox figure will help a lot of miners to get an idea.

Hey guys we have now successfully tested SFRBit by actually using SFR as a payment option where Bitcoins are accepted!

Purchased a Gift Card for testing from gyft.com that uses the Bitpay payment gateway :P

Here are the shots :

We can confirm that SFRSend, SFRSend+ and SFRBit are succesfully tested. We now have to change the UI for activating SFRMS and bit window resizing bug which was there in the earlier version. Once all this is done, we will post the exact time of wallet release v2.3.1

Wallet v2.3.1-beta should be ready for download in 1-2 hours. Will post once it is uploaded. Before that these are the shots of all the stuff we newly included in this wallet version.

Do note that this is a short Beta version. If we find all is well within the first few days, we will release the final version soon enough.

Overview Page

We have changed the layout of SFRMS since the previous version making it much more easier to use and understand. Just enter an address that you would like to use, any sort of message and an alias. With SFRMS you can receive coins through SFRSend+ without giving out your address to the public. Your alias is paired with the SFR address you provided so you do not need to disclose your address. Optionally you can enter your email on which you would like to receive SFR transaction alerts. A bit like your bank account where you are notified of deposits and withdrawals.
We have removed the anonymous encrypted messaging service "POOF!" from this version because we feel it is better to have this in a mobile wallet. We will integrate POOF! in our upcoming mobile wallet along with self-destructing voice messages!

http://saffroncoin.com/sfrmtwalletoverview.png

SFRSend / SFRSend+

We are providing 2 types of anonymity techniques.
Have a look at this post where it is explained how these work : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=586320.msg7947438#msg7947438 .
Do note SFRSend+ is the only anonymizing technique that allows you to receive your coins without disclosing your wallet address to the sender. Just give that person your SFRMS alias and ask him/her to use the latest wallet. It is not necessary for the sender to have an SFRMS alias.
We developed this feature keeping in mind the privacy of users and some suggestions by the community. Many would not like to disclose their SFR address since anyone can look it up on the blockchain and find all your transactions and balances. With SFRSend+, your wallet address privacy is assured.
Do note that a transaction fee of 2% is taken for every transaction. This is done to discourage the use of anon unnecessarily since these services can bloat the blockchain a bit.
http://saffroncoin.com/sfrmtwalletsend.png

Fully-Fledged trading on Exchanges

We are the first ones to make use of webkit technology in crypto-wallets. Our first features with webkit included built in IRC and exchange rates.
With Webkit, we can do amazing stuff. So now we have included fully-fledged exchanges built into the wallet. Currently we have included only Bittrex and Mintpal. We will only include those exchanges that are trading SFR. We included Mintpal because we felt Mintpal may add us soon. It is just an assumption. When other bigger exchanges add us, we will include them. There are various benefits of using in wallet trading even though you can do the same thing on a web browser. It depends from person to person. But with in built wallet trading, you do not have to deal with browser vulnerabilities or other sort of bugs. Also each webkit container is independant of itself and doesnt affect the working of other features in the wallet.
Do note that, Bittrex may lag a bit for some. It even lags for me when I personally use it on a browser. Incase you feel there is lag, just click the "Mintpal" button. Mintpal will load and then you can click back to Bittrex.

http://saffroncoin.com/sfrmtwallettrade.png

Fully-Fledged built-in Block Explorer

It is great to have a block explorer in the wallet to quickly look up some transactions or the rich list. Others have included in a way of text-based but we are the only ones to have a full GUI based built-in block explorer. This is also much easier to use and packs more features than a Text-based explorer.

http://saffroncoin.com/sfrmtwalletexplorer.png

SFRBit

We would first like to give credit to VeriCoin to first implement such a useful feature. It is a necessity in the altcoin world.
SFRBit basically lets you buy goods/services on places that accept Bitcoin using your SFR. So if you don't have Bitcoins, no problem, if you have SaffronCoins, you can pay for that item.
Do note that a transaction fee of 1.5% is taken on every SFRBit transaction. The minimum BTC that you can send in 0.0005 and the max. is 0.1 BTC per transaction. Since this is a Beta wallet, we have kept these constraints. The max. amount will be increased later.
Have a look at this post about our successful testing of SFRBit : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=586320.msg7962974#msg7962974

Once the wallet is ready to download, I will post about it.

Mandatory Update Hardfork v1.3.3 at Block 171780 (Approx. 7 days from now)

This is an update to change the block reward system and make it more efficient in the long run thus bringing a balance between Investors and Miners.

The Block reward is not fixed and is not halved. We have implemented a gradual decrease of Block reward over the years which would bring a stable balance between investors and miners.
The below graph demonstrates an approx. way in the block rewards getting reduced over the course of time.

http://saffroncoin.com/sfrrewardgraph.png

This below graph shows the approx. coin supply per year depending on the block rewards at that time.

http://saffroncoin.com/sfrsupplygraph.png

Please update your wallet/daemons/clients to v1.3.3(Classic) / v2.4(Multi-Tasking) before block 171780.

Download client wallets from saffroncoin.com (http://saffroncoin.com) (Updated MAC wallet will be available in a few hours)

Pools/Exchanges/Services please update your SaffronCoin daemon from github.com/saffroncoin/saffroncoin (http://github.com/saffroncoin/saffroncoin)

P.S. This decision of Block Reward Control is backed by the community and a decision taken after a lot of discussion about the future of new pure POW coins today.

Hi,
We are pleased to inform that our current feature in development is SFRPay through which you can purchase SFR with fiat through PayPal and CC right from your wallet.

Wasda, Pho and cryptoholic helped us on IRC to setup PayPal for SFRPay. We will start working on the interface and backend. We can very well have SFRPay ready by next week!

Many in IRC have been talking about getting BTC late from Coinbase and other services. By the time they receive BTC, the SFR prices end up going high. So we feel SFRPay can certainly benefit them.

We will have some screenshots in a few days probably after the upcoming HardFork!

We can confirm that we have started work on SFRPay. After a lot of input from the community on this forum and IRC, we feel the best solution to SFRPay and going by PayPal regulations is to have virtual cards/vouchers sent to your email.

This is a brief explanation on how this will work :

In the SFRPay tab in the wallet, you select the amount of SFR you wish to buy and the equivalent current price in USD will be displayed to you. You need to enter an email address at which you wish to receive the SFR Voucher.  Once that amount is paid through PayPal, you will get an email containing your SFR Voucher which will have a unique code displayed on it. You need to enter that unique code in your wallet when prompted. Once the code is verified, the amount of SFR you bought will be sent to you within 1 block confirmation.
So you get your crypto pretty fast.

Hope this eases a lot of your payment issues with cryptos.

P.S. 2 days left for the hardfork.
If you haven't seen the new OP, please have a look.

This is the 2nd mock of SFRPay. You select the amount of SFR you wish to buy from our wallet and then click the "Initiate Request" button which will open your default web browser where you need to login to PayPal and make your payment.

Once the Payment is successful, a voucher code will be sent to the email address you specified.

Approx ETA : 2 Days

SFRPay enabled wallet is now out with v2.4.2. We were able to complete it before the approx. release date.

Wallet download link : http://saffroncoin.com/saffroncoin-wallet-windows-2.4.2.zip

MAC and Linux wallets will be up later.

What is SFRPay?

We have received many requests from our users that they were not able to buy SFR at a particular time because their BTC took time to arrive. When they wanted to buy, the price was much higher.
We felt we needed to address this and have SFR delivered to them in as fast as 1 block confirmation.
Hence we created SFRPay that lets you buy SFR with fiat(USD only at present, later will be expanded to EUR, CNY).
Currently the method used is through PayPal. You can use your existing PayPal account or buy as a guest user with your CC.

Instructions

The process is fairly simple and you could receive SFR in 5 minutes.

You need to choose a Voucher Package. Available Vouchers are : 100 SFR, 200, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 5000.

Enter an email at which you wish to receive your Voucher code. Cross-check your email. If you do not have access to your email address or enter a wrong email address, you will not be able to redeem your SFR.
Re-enter your email and click the "Initiate Request" button.

http://saffroncoin.com/mockwalletsfrpay3.png

After a few seconds, your default web browser will pop up displaying the PayPal login box. Login to your account and make the payment for the appropriate amount in fiat.
If you feel that the payment page is taking too much time to load, just stop and refresh the page.
After the payment is complete, you will get a mail at the email address you provided containing your Voucher Code.
If you do not find this mail in your inbox, do check your spam.

http://saffroncoin.com/mockwalletsfrpay4.png

http://saffroncoin.com/mockwalletsfrpay6.jpg

Enter the code you received in your email in your wallet. Once the code is verified, the appropriate SFR will get transferred to the SFR address you specified within 1 block confirmation.

That is it!

If you encounter any problems, do let us know!

We would like to propose some upcoming features. Your input would greatly help.

We are really excited about some unique features we are going to develop.

One of those features is SFRDirect.
We had drafted this out briefly some time back but now we feel it is time to start developing it and push it up our Roadmap.
SFRDirect would be a decentralized escrow service that connects buyers and sellers to buy and sell SFR at a single price. You do not need to trust any person or service to hold your funds. A trusted node on the entire SFR network will handle this for you.
We will have a WhitePaper prepared explaining SFRDirect and its implementation in detail later.
This would become the World's first decentralized escrow service.
This is currently our "big" feature and would take time to develop.

There are some other features that we have in our mind such as a coin recycler. We are not sure if there is still a market for a coin recycler but if you guys want it, we will have it developed.
For those that don't know, a coin recycler enables you to convert any other coin to SFR. If you have a bunch of altcoins that you want to get rid off, you can recycle them for SFR.

We were very interested in ROXCoin. It was a very promising coin but it died due to their Developers leaving. We can't revive ROXCoin but we are thinking of implementing some of its features in SFR.
We can target Hollywood as well as Bollywood. It will in fact help the growth of cryptos. We could also implement a unique feature where you are listening to a particular song in your wallet and you can transmit that song to nodes that you choose on the SFR network. It is like decentralized music sharing!
If we have good response for this, we will include it in our roadmap.

There is one more thing which we are most excited about and would bring the next revolutionary feature in crypto. We will have one of the most used centralized feature, decentralized. This would let different altcoins actually "talk" to each other. It is high time altcoins stop competing against each other and start working together. This feature would very much enable that. We will be working with other coin developers to bring this out.
More info on this will be available later.

So what do you all think of everything proposed in this post?

With respect to this post : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=586320.msg8223523#msg8223523

We spoke about including a decentralized Music Sharing feature built into the wallet. Would like to update on this.

Have you guys checked out this IBM Commercial : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgxqqQj8i5A ?

We will be implementing something similar but a decentralized version. This is a near-term feature. We haven't thought of a name for it yet. If you can come up with some good names, you can suggest.

We will first launch a built-in music player into the wallet. Then, a later version will include the decentralized sharing and recording of your voice.

There is a big unique feature/protocol mentioned in the above post where different coins can "communicate" with each other. We have thought of a name for that and presently call it "Project Orion". Whenever we talk about Orion in future posts, think it is being referred to this feature.

The wallet with built-in music player could be launched soon. ETA will be given after some days.

Cheers!

Development Update

Our next major feature will be a built-in music player. We are going to expand on ROXCoin's visions.
This music/media player would be the first step towards SaffronCoin's decentralized/P2P music sharing.

We will be adopting Blockchain 2.0 i.e. Sidechains for all our decentralized services including SFRDirect. Using the existing Blockchain for other P2P features like some other coins is not optimal because the Bitcoin Developers call that to be "spamming" the blockchain.
So a Sidechain can host a variety of services without interrupting the original chain.

Our next wallet could be out in a week's time. Some members requested some extra essential features such as Wallet Update notifications and a currency convertor for SFR in BTC and Fiat.

Will have all these in the next wallet!

I've made a new .deb for Ubuntu LTS 14.4 and an ubuntu repo!

To install and keep up to date you have to add this line into /etc/apt/sources.list :
Code:
deb http://ownzen.fr/ubuntu/packages/i386/ /

Then :
Code:
sudo apt-get update && apt-get install saffroncoin-qt-mt

This will install the saffroncoin multitasking wallet into /usr/bin/saffroncoin-qt and all its dependencies!
Just search "saffron" into menu and click the icon :D

If all goes well, when next wallet will be released, you will just have to type :
Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install saffroncoin-qt-mt
And the wallet will be updated!

I've added as well a menu icon :).

Let me know if it works for you!

Debian specific DEB package is more difficult to compile, because the stable version does'nt have QT5 and the MT wallet required it.
If someone want it, I can make it but it will be only for Debian SID users :(

We will be releasing a wallet tomorrow, Monday. It will contain essential features such as:

-Valuation of your SFR in BTC and fiat.

-Wallet update notification.

-New SFRPay vouchers for 7000 and 10000 SFR. So the limit is increased from 5k SFR to 10k SFR. This is being done after noticing the success of SFRPay. It is a widely used feature in our wallet. Many have bought 5k SFR twice. So we thought to better increase the limit to 10K.

-We might be adding some charity organisations that accept BTC into the SFRBit tab. So if you like to donate to a charitable trust, you can do so with your SFR using SFRBit. (This feature is not confirmed. We still have to obtain a list of notable charitable trusts accepting BTC.)

We are thinking of removing the built-in exchange trading feature. Don't think it is used much and it does tend to lag the wallet a bit.

The new wallet is almost done. Cleaning up of code is left. Will release it in about 15 hours.

These are the extra goodies packed with the upcoming wallet :

1. Valuation of your total wallet holdings in BTC, USD, EUR, INR, CNY.
2. A notification will be displayed when a new wallet update is available.
3. 2 new SFRPay vouchers have been added : 7k and 10 SFR.
4. Fixed a bug where the IRC window did not resize.

This is the client side of the Coin Recycler where you select the coin you wish to recycle. Enter a Saffroncoin address where you wish to receive your SFR. After clicking the "Recycle" button, you will be given an address corresponding to the coin you selected to recycle. You need to send your other altcoins to that address. Once confirmed, you will get appropriate amount of SFR at current exchange rates transferred to you.

The wallet will be available soon.

Wallet v2.4.3 Release with some essential features and a coin recycler

Windows : http://saffroncoin.com/saffroncoin-wallet-windows-2.4.3.zip

MAC : http://saffroncoin.com/saffroncoin-wallet-mac-2.4.3.zip

Linux wallet will be available later.

Features :

1. Coin Recycler added which lets you recycle DOGE, MYR, RDD for SFR.
2. Wallet Update notification provided.
3. Total valuation of your SFR in BTC, USD, EUR, INR, CNY.
4. 2 SFRPay vouchers added - 7k, 10k SFR.
5. Fixed a bug that did not resize the IRC window.

For Coin Recycler make sure the amount of other coins you send is greater than the value of 0.0002 SFR. For eg. Send a min. of 1000 DOGE, 900 MYR, 2000 RDD. If you do not receive SFR within 5 mins, then your amount is lesser than the equivalent SFR value of 0.0002. Just send more coins to the address you received so that the total value of those coins is over 0.0002 SFR.

P.S. We are going to post about our 2 big developments and update the roadmap in a few minutes.

Big Development update on Project Orion

We have been talking about Orion for quite some days, on the forums as well as IRC. We are now going to announce what "Project Orion" is openly. This is the biggest development of SaffronCoin and something that could take cryptos to a higher level.

We were very much focused on communication, innovation and user flexibility when we first started. Hence, we probably have the best and most feature-packed crypto wallet now. A few days back on our IRC channel, we were discussing of ways to evolve crypto truly rather than spamming the existing blockchain with unnecessary services. We wanted to provide our users the same ease of use they got using centralized services, in a decentralized fashion. After a lot of discussion of these ideas, the idea for "Orion" was born.

We are going to give you a decentralized version of the most used centralized service - EMAIL. You would not have to worry about agencies snooping on your mail.

We will provide a detailed Whitepaper on the technical implementation of Orion in a few days.

SFRDirect
SFRDirect is a decentralized trading/escrow platform where you trust no-one with your funds. We will be releasing an alpha version of a SFRDirect compatible wallet in some days which uses the existing blockchain. Once we successfully test the stability, the future versions will implement "Sidechains" over which this service will run.
Many decentralized apps will run on the sidechain thus not "spamming" the original blockchain.

These 2 are our biggest developments. Would like to know your views.

This is our updated Roadmap :

If you feel that the payment page is taking too much time to load, just stop and refresh the page.

Do you mean the following page?

https://i.imgur.com/2noakrq.png

I tried many times on different days to purchase SFR with a credit card (as guest via Paypal). Everytime, after I enter my credit card and confirm the purchase, the small window close and I'm stuck on that "loading" page. Once I waited for more than 5 minutes. It never go further. I tried on Chrome and Internet Explorer, nothing work.

Another question:
What is the current stance of Paypal about bitcoin and cryptomoney? I remember when they closed accounts of people using Paypal to buy & purchase bitcoin. I have a very old Paypal account, never got problem. I don't want to jeopardize it.  :-\

To which country is your paypal account got registered? If it is India, your transaction will not go through since our merchant account is from India. PayPal does not allow transfers within India.

Regarding PayPal stance, they do close accounts that deal with Bitcoin directly. That is the reason we are using vouchers as digital goods. We are not using PayPal directly to trade cryptos. Users can buy vouchers with a code in it. These are legal by PayPal and fall under "digital goods". I don't think Paypal really cares if those vouchers are used to buy cryptos.

On the International thread, many users have reported successfully purchasing SFR in the wallet. We had processed over 1 BTC worth of SFR in 2 days. Some had to refresh that Payment page about 3-4 times. We can't do anything about that. That is the PayPal API and it is their server that takes time to load. Maybe for Indian Merchants, there PayPal servers are not fast enough.
It may take about 2 mins for the page to load. But if your PayPal is from India, then you can't use this service.
We are working to implement Indian Payment Gateways for Indian users.

Also everything has worked smoothly till now. INR has been transferred to my Bank account from PayPal.

Maybe it is just luck but here what I did to make it work:

When it asked me to log in to my PayPal account, I checked the option "Remember me" (I usually do not check this). The purchase failed. However, the next attempt worked fine. Maybe it's a bug with their login page. Or like I said, it may be just luck.

Decentralized Market Update

Method of Implementation:

- Separate tabs for buyers and merchants.
- Every Merchant will be given a unique key. Merchants needs to register themselves. Their names will be displayed publicly on a website. This is done to reduce fraud and authenticate merchants so buyers can be assured to receive their goods. If they have any problem with the product received, they can always contact the merchant.
- Buyers can buy anonymously and no details are required.

Merchant
- To list a product for sale, the merchant needs to provide his/her Merchant Key, the name of the product, cost, an image file of the product (It should be a URL) and the SFR address of the merchant.
- Once the key is verified, the key, name, cost, image URL of the product and the address will be included in the next block.
- The Merchant can query the blockchain with the unique Merchant Key to check if any products are bought.

Buyer
- Buyers will see a list of products to be sold. The image URL will be extracted from the block and a webpage request will be made for that URL to display the image for the product.
- Buying is very easy. Just click on the item. The address of the merchant and the cost will get filled and you just need to click "Send". The buyer would then receive an Order ID for reference.

We will have a client mock of the Merchant and Buyer tabs in a day.
The name for this market hasn't been decided yet. We are putting up some options on the Poll. Please vote.

Decentralized MarketPlace Update

We are considering to integrate our Coin Recycler and SFRBit into the decentralized market. With this you can pay for products not just with SFR, but also BTC, DOGE, MYR and RDD!
This is a great add-on to the market suggested by some on IRC and is very much mainstream oriented.
A lot of names have been suggested for this market. One name that many agreed on our IRC channel was "Saffronyx: A P2P decentralized market". We may consider this name for the market.

Before this big release, we might have a mini release where you can use SFRPay to also sell SFR for direct fiat to your PayPal account! We will confirm on this later.

Saffronyx - P2P Market Update

We are giving you the client mock of our P2P Market - Saffronyx. Sorry for the delay. We had to link this to the blockchain. This is the Merchant tab for Sellers to post items that they wish to sell. Every Merchant needs a Merchant Key which is publicly recorded and tied to the identity of the Merchant to minimize fraud and selling of illegal items. Buyers do not need to provide any identity/register to buy.

We will have the buyer page mock shortly.

Saffronyx - P2P Market Update

This is the buyer frontend. To make a purchase you just need to highlight the row once there is an item to sell. Right click on the row and you can buy by giving out your shipping address. The shipping address for the item will be encrypted on the chain.

Hi, thanks for all your support. We are indeed getting dumped hard. Reasons may be BTC crash, daily traders, traders shifting to the next "coin of the week". Would like to tell u all that we are very well on course. Such dumps do affect us a bit psychologically because we have put in a lot of effort in developing this coin and we have some big plans for the future. 2 of us haven't slept for like 30 hours at a stretch when developing a complicated feature or fixing a hardfork. No other coin at present have delivered more than us in short span of just 2 months. All coins that are currently having 100 BTC+ volume have not even delivered half of what we have done.

In a way it is good that the weak hands are getting out. We do not need them during our climb again. We could have a more consistent growth if the weak hands are out.
We were very well set to cross 5k last week but same crazy dude dumped 500k and completely ruined our momentum leaving us stranded in the shadows.

I request the community as well as the big bag holders to please cash out in small amounts if u need to. Huge dumps pretty much ruin everything because we are not yet well established. All coins are getting dumped but most of them have some huge whales backing them so they are able to recover from such dumps and get back volume.
We do not have that many whales. We are working on a lot of promotional stuff and doing our development at the same time.

We have always delivered what we said. I assure u all that we will go back much higher. We are now working on the P2P market. Then we will develop crytoxindia.com. SFRDirect after that and Project Orion initialization phase to follow.

We are working very hard, please stick with us the way you have been from the start.

Thanks for reading,

Roshan

P2P Market update

Great Stuff! We have implemented 2 extra RPC commands to write content to the blockchain. These commands will further be expanded to write orders by a merchant to the blockchain.

Setdata writes a string. A tx fee of 0.0002 SFR is cut for every entry into the blockchain. The output you can see is the tx id of the transaction. Dumpdata will retrieve the data from the transaction if any.

We will be creating a bunch of new rpc commands for this. The alpha release will only have RPC commands for testing. Once everything goes well, the beta release will have the QT GUI of the P2P Market.

We will be posting more mocks as we complete phases.

A Design made by NightMan. We would be selling this on the PeerMarket. T-Shirts, Jackets and interior decorative items will also be designed. We are going to build an ecosystem of SFR products.  :)

PeerMarket Update

Ordernew is tested to create an encrypted order for the merchant.
The output gives a tx id. The tx id contains the entire order details. Extracting the data from that tx id will give the encrypted order. Our next stage is to decrypt that order and display the details of the order such as - address of merchant, product image url, title, quantity, price and the description about the product.

In the final release, all these rpc commands will be linked to the GUI with buttons so the merchant doesn't have to deal with all these commands with everything functioning well in the background.

PeerMarket Update

The market is in stage of Opcode creation which would make the code identify when the a new order has to be created, bought or updated. There are some issues decoding the transaction. We are working on that.

For those new to this thread, PeerMarket will be integrating our coin recycler so u can pay for a product on the PeerMarket not just with SFR but also DOGE, MYR and RDD. If u have these coins somewhere and not using them, you can now make use of them by buying a product on the PeerMarket using that altcoin. Some developers and the community of other coins have requested to add their coin to our recycler so those coins can indirectly be used as a payment option on the PeerMarket.
We will be reviewing coins before we add them. At present, we personally like PINK, we feel it is a great coin and undervalued just like us. We may just consider adding them before the final release. There are some coins that we would like to become allies with and work on some great future projects.

We are trying to make the SaffronCoin PeerMarket the best decentralized shopping place. Some other coins that have a market just make use of entities traveling through the blockchain to just show it works. What is the point of a decentralized market when there are no actual sellers? We are lucky to have Pho_Tai (lino0spice on this forum) who himself is a merchant and has a wide range of products. He would be the only seller during the testing phases.

The final release would give you the same feel of using ebay/amazon or any other e-commerce site.

Including other coins to be used for purchasing products on the PeerMarket is pretty cool and would expand our ecosystem. This step would push towards altcoins working together for some exciting projects rather than compete against each other which has always been our vision.

This is the mock of the mobile/DTH top-up service with crypto-currencies (SFR & BTC only at present).

It is a very useful feature for those with prepaid connections. Instead of just trading SFR, why not also use it to recharge your mobile which is a daily need! Again all this integrated in the upcoming wallet. We will be the first to provide this feature within the wallet.
We are calling Precharge for now which is basically Prepaid-Recharge.

Our wallet already has a lot of features which could look a bit piled on. So we are planning to categorize some features. We may add something called SFRCore that contains the best of SFR.

We are increasing the frequency of our developments now. We are planning to hire some more developers this month. We will be doing multiple developments together like the market, centralized exchange, decentralized exchange altogether.

Once we get the local media PR done, we will start looking for extra developers.

The coming few months are going to be really big with some great technical developments and some mainstream implementations.

Hey guys, the mobile top-up feature has successfully been tested. We are integrating it into the wallet now and should release soon. Keeping community views, we will also be going ahead with adding of buying BTC with PayPal through SFRPay.
But this will be included in another release after a few days because a lot of resources are required and merchant account needs to be created with Unocoin and we need some emergency cash to process those orders.
This would take a bit of time to set up so we will either include this as a standalone release or we will couple it with the SFRaffle system. We will be discussing Raffle in detail later.

The upcoming Top-Up feature has been integrated and successfully tested. You can top-up your prepaid mobile/DTH connection using crypto-currencies (currently only SFR supported. Later BTC and other cryptos will be added).

The new IRC Channel: #sfrcoin has been coded into the IRC Wallet Page.

Future Enhancements:
- Adding postpaid support where you can just pay your mobile bill with SFR!
- Pay your utility bills such as electricity bill with SFR!
- Recharge your DataCard with SFR!
- You can use this service for buying selected Anti-Virus Software with SFR!
- Book International Flight Tickets with SFR!

Wallet release v2.5 will be available soon!

Hi,
I would probably be leaving to Shanghai for the Bitcoin Expo to give a talk on Saffroncoin. Would be leaving on 17/18 this month. I will be travelling with the Unocoin team. They have been chosen as panel speakers. Will confirm once we get the Visas which should be in a day or two.

Past couple of days, we have been researching on how to make PeerMarket implementation better. Especially because of OpenBazaar. It has a great UI and has web based content for easier use. Many others are building their markets on OpenBazaar such as Razor's RZRoad.
But we do not want to go the OpenBazaar way. We want to be unique and build PeerMarket as an asset and have great UI just as OpenBazaar but different from it.

We have decided to implement the counterparty protocol for this. Initially we wanted to use this protocol for SFRDirect. But PeerMarket can be built as an asset on top of SFRDirect. This would also not cause bloating of the main blockchain.
SFRDirect will contain a decentralized exchange and PeerMarket. Later we will develop a host of decentralized services built on top of SFRDirect.
The currency which the SFRDirect protocol will be using is Concentrated SFR (cSFR). cSFR will be produced by burning SFR which means you send your saffroncoins to an unspendable address.
SFRDirect is the protocol or a sidechain that would host a bunch of decentralized services hence not bloating the main chain.
We will try to have SFRDirect released by this month and I will give u an update before leaving to China.
We have already started working on this and are setting up the requisites for the counterparty protocol.

Regards

Was just discussing on IRC about a feature like Elite Club to be included in the wallet. For eg. only those with more than 100k SFR in the wallet, can access the elite club.
Elite members will get various benefits. This would also give a reason to hold SFR especially essential for a POW coin. This is something like a Gold Membership like you get some benefits being a Gold member on various places.
At present, haven't thought of what facilities we can provide to elite members. Pho suggested that they can trade for 0% fee on cryptoxindia and also get some shares.

Can u all suggest some more?

It is basically like a foundation where the top members can discuss developments and future progress for the coin. If this club can provide great benefits to members, then people would want to buy as much SFR to enter that club. Buying would be more and selling would be less. Many long term investors have loads of coins and with this they can reap benefits by just having these coins idle sitting in their wallet.

Could u please explain how this could hinder growth?

This is what 1 guy posted on the International forum like a tier system:

I would say we can do 3 type:
Elite Silver: 150k ( 0% trade 0.2% share )
Elite Gold: 200k ( 0% trade 0.35% share )
Elite Platinum: 250k ( 0% trade 0.5% share )

Benefit will depend on grade so lower grade with have less benefit than higher grade.

We can come up with something better  ::) ::) ::)

If this is successful in restricting early adopters selling their saffron coins, the value of saffron coin will start getting artificial boost and at a point it will just have a big crash. As sfr is already unstable coz it is very new, this may not be a time to try this out. big crashes only hinder the growth.

If this is successful in restricting early adopters selling their saffron coins, the value of saffron coin will start getting artificial boost and at a point it will just have a big crash. As sfr is already unstable coz it is very new, this may not be a time to try this out. big crashes only hinder the growth.

Yes artificial boost would not be good. Maybe once we are stable we can try this out.

SFRDirect Update

Concentrated SFR (cSFR) is now connecting and downloading blocks from the saffroncoind daemon.

Next step is testing the burning process. We have decided on 1 SFR = 100 cSFR. Since we are not sure of how much SFR will be burnt, we need to have considerable amount of cSFR available to be used for future assets.

SFRDirect Development Update

Our P2P Finance Platform, SFRDirect is nearing completion! We successfully tested the backend operation of the burn process by burning 0.01 SFR to get 11.0833 cSFR (concentrated SFR).

In the below images, 0.01 SFR is burnt from an address to another address which does not contain a private key. We have defined that address to be : SaFFuJKbA91NPwiNfrf17MctVFtG96tGLn . During the burn process, SFR you burn will be sent to this address in exchange for cSFR.

http://saffroncoin.com/csfr2.png

Next phase of testing would be to buy cSFR from the decentralized exchange and setup the SFRDirect GUI based web wallet which you can access online and use this decentralized platform for your financial needs.

Hi all,
SFRDirect is working well with commands. We are now setting up a front-end web wallet for it to access the backend.
SFRDirect web wallet is compiled. We are setting up a federated node to run the web wallet.

After hours of bug fixing and compilations, the Federated Node setup for hosting the web interface of SFRDirect is done. (whew)  ;)

After weeks of development, SFRDirect is almost around the corner. In a few days time, we will announce a release date once we successfully test all workings.

SFRDirect Development Update

Exciting news! We cleared the earlier bug and are pleased to say that the core coding and compilation of SFRDirect is complete. Just some testing phases to go now. You can have a sneak-peak of our decentralized exchange in the shots below.
We will be integrating SFRDirect directly into your Qt Wallet. There are many coins that have in-built wallet trading but we will be the first to have an in-built wallet decentralized exchange!

SFRDirect is Saffroncoin's financial platform based on the Counterparty (XCP) protocol. Decentralized Applications can be built as tokens on top of SFRDirect.
SFRDirect's currency is known as concentrated SFR (cSFR) which is produced by burning SFR. The burn process would go on for a month starting from date of launch.

SFRDirect Development Update

We are testing the sweeping of your balance from other addresses to your SFRDirect Address. You input your private key of your other address and your funds will be swept. In the current screenshot testing, 0.2 SFR is transferred from another wallet address to my SFRDirect address.

Do note that the seed password for logging into your web wallet and other keys are not stored anywhere and are not transferred to the Internet. They are all generated in your browser using client-side Javascript. You can test this by even turning of your Internet Connection and generate your keys.

We turn 6 months old today! I guess during this timeframe, we are the only coin to have released more than any other coin.
We are proud to have pioneered many trends such as alias integration, first integrated webkit tech for fully-fledged exchanges and block explorer, currently the only wallet to integrate fiat payment through SFRPay.
Soon with SFRDirect, we will be the first to have a decentralized exchange built in the wallet!

And all this is just the beginning. A lot more stuff in the coming weeks and months!

Not many coins make it so far, but even though we do not have a huge community but a pretty strong one, getting this far wouldn't have been possible without you guys!

Cheers,

Roshan

SFRDirect Development Update

Hey guys,
Another phase of testing done for SFRDirect! We are getting closer to launch!

Burning of SFR is tested and is very simple to use from such an interface.

1 SFR would give 100-85 cSFR. It varies according to the burn stage. Approx 85 cSFR would be received during the ending stages of the burn phase. So u are more benefited if you burn earlier.

Right now for our testing 1 SFR gave 99.******** cSFR.

Hey folks, we are closing SFRPay temporarily due to issues with Paypal. There were some unexpected heavy buys yesterday which amounted to about 390k SFR being bought in 4 hours. That completely emptied out the SFRPay wallet.
Due to that many weren't able to redeem their voucher codes and filed a complaint at paypal for a refund. Due to many complaints yesterday, Paypal have currently locked our merchant account and we are in talks to get this sorted out quickly.
I had requested to the SFRPay users that if you have any problems related to SFRPay, please send a mail rather than filing a complaint.
Those users that sent a mail, got the problem sorted out quickly. Paypal sucks big time so filing a complaint is certainly not going to help anyone and it hurts such a good unique feature we have.
They said we have to wait for 72 hours to have the issue sorted out.

SFRDirect Development Update

There was an issue with cSFR being sent to other addresses due to incorrect DUST (min. threshold in satoshis) values. That is sorted and now cSFR can be sent across to any of your addresses present in your SFRDirect wallet.
If u send cSFR to an address outside your SFRDirect wallet, a very small SFR amount will be sent to that address. To obtain cSFR from that "other" address, you can just sweep that address as shown in a previous update.

These are shots of SFRDirect tokens i.e. cSFR being transferred among the first 2 addresses.

We believe asset-based currencies are going to be huge in the future. You can create various assets using cSFR. Such currencies are great for decentralized financial tools which the Bitcoin Protocol solely doesn't provide.
A similar currency ClearingHouse (XCH) is gaining popularity due to some rumor about collaboration with Zynga which is also helping the Viacoin price. Overstock.com is using Counterparty (XCP) to build a decentralized stock market. The popular online magazine - Altcoin Herald also now have their own asset currency known as ACH.

I guess we have entered the boat at the right time and we are excited to be part of this. Utilizing both the BTC and XCP protocols, we can build great decentralized financial tools.

I am also in talks with a group who are developing a protocol known as Automated Transactions which is similar to what Ethereum is supposed to be doing. They want to have SFR integrated into it which i guess would be huge for us. That is something that could be really big instead of these crappy Blocknet and Supernet going around now.
But that is something we would look into detail during the start of 2015.

Hey folks another phase of testing of SFRDirect done. This time it is of asset creation. You have burned your SFR for cSFR so what do u do with that cSFR? You can create your asset currency, trade it for SFR or cSFR, play games on the SFRDirect protocol and place some bets!
When the PeerMarket gets integrated, you can use your cSFR for even buying stuff on it!

Creation of an asset costs 90 cSFR.

For this testing, we created an asset currency known as SAFFRON which can be traded for either cSFR or SFR or any other asset currency you or someone else on the Saffroncoin Network creates.

So u have your own peer-to-peer asset currency exchange. You can even open an online store and accept an asset currency that you yourself created hence adding value to the currency you created!

The SFRDirect concept could be a bit complicated. Many have asked what would they do with the cSFR they got. Please feel free to post any doubts, queries or suggestions, any views you may have.
Its best all of you have a clear understanding of the SFRDirect protocol before the release.

Blake non-merged mining is going well but with merged mining there are possibilities that other algorithms may get affected since the hashing functions are entirely different.

***Important Mandatory Update. Hardfork at block 410000***

The Saffroncoin Groestl algorithm was attacked yesterday using the Time-warp attack which caused multiple consecutive blocks to be found by the Groestl algorithm. A fix has been patched.
Please update all your wallets, daemons, pools to the latest v1.4/v2.6.

Download your wallets from: http://saffroncoin.com/saffroncoin-wallet-windows-2.6.zip

Github source: https://github.com/saffroncoin/saffroncoin (v1.4)

                    https://github.com/saffroncoin/wallet20 (v2.6)

Clients not using this version are disconnected. The hardfork kicks in at block 410,000. The block reward is currently 27 coins per block due to our gradual decreasing reward system.

Hello,

It has been a very long time. Circumstances haven't done well for this token. We had amazing support. We were among the top currencies and it was saddening to see the demise.

However, over these years, we've been building a suite of services to make Saffroncoin the brand it was meant to be. Saffroncoin will be back with a lot more use-cases than random blockchain jargon.

We set the standards for blockchain payments. Our wallet was the most feature-packed wallets back in the day.

We will continue to stick to the goal of increasing crypto adoption in the world and show how one day the world will get tokenised.

We are starting off with India and are building an amazing payments solution. I have been actively involved in the regulation aspect of legalizing cryptocurrencies in India and am also one of the petitioners. We need to help the regulators in understanding how important such a piece of technology is for the nation.

To all those, that stuck around, thank you. Your efforts will not go in vain.

I'll be releasing something exciting soon.
