The forum policy is not to moderate scams and let the community police itself. That's what the Trust system was meant for. Spam is obvious, scams are subjective and moderating supposed "scams" can lead to serious censorship by mods/staff. That's what we need to avoid.Title: [Split] Re: [EDU] Banned? Back on topic, moderation of scams can lead to some serious abuse from the moderators side: it can cause him silencing those he doesn't want to tell, claiming he's running a scam. Thus members themselves have to asses the situation and decide whether it's a scam or not. Title: Re: [Split] Re: [EDU] Banned? Read this before posting about it Post by: BadBear on April 29, 2014, 12:44:27 PM Do you really want some INTERNET FORUMS MODERATOR deciding if your business is a scam or not? People are more than capable of making their own choices provided they have all the information, which is hard to get if moderators are being heavy handed. If they make dumb choices that's their choice to make.
Besides we tried it with scammer tags, know what happened? People still got scammed, then blamed us for it anyway, because hey, that newbie with a month old account doesn't have a scammer tag, he must be totally legit or the mods would have done something right? If you're trading and you want to have a status as verified or trusted then maybe a couple of verification like linked accounts here and there to make sure that the community can simply eliminate you if you're scamming with one strike (or we can implement a 3-strike). It's not that hard to do with all the resources that the forum has on its hands. If you want to be the best, got to stay on top of the game and Bitcoin is a great example!Besides we tried it with scammer tags, know what happened? Like said previously, that's precisely what the trust system is there to do. Trade enough and other people see this and trust you, scam and you get a nice big red warning on your posts in the trading sections. Title: Re: [Split] Re: [EDU] Banned? All the scammers joining are new, so we can't instantly mark them for scamming, can we? There's a limit to what we can do, you realize. |
