stay tuned nyancoin (the first licenced cryptocurrency) is in need of a new developer team. what we want? * we need an experienced team (no newbie names). * the algo needs to be changed. some time ago there was a vote and the community voted (around 60%) for a hybrid POW/POS system. Is this possible? 50% / 50% (never 51% attack). This is obvious, but that would make the price rise? Just drop in price causes a decrease in the power of network. Reward halving without doubled price cause a decrease in the power of network too. I do not think it will help, but it will increase the size of the blockchain and make wallet slowly. Changing the Algo with a 'Live' coin is a very difficult task for any developer, and requires some serious in depth knowledge of the coins coding. I would suggest reviving the coin with a new code rebase, maybe add some new features like DIGISHIELD or a different reward system, and follow what FlappyCoin are doing.. 1) get a solid trustworthy wallet for all platforms working... 2) be a very active community. 3) Giveaways, competitions etc... yes PoS and other exotic Algo's are popular but so is this coin...its already got the advantage of being on big exchanges! When i got into Crypto development at the end of 2013 and beyond. i recognised three potentials... DogeCoin FlappyCoin NyanCoin Only DogeCoin really made its mark! Thank you for patience & confidence. Currently new wallet successfully connects & syncs with NYAN net. This had a hard work to make new wallet compatible with old blockchain, because it builded on different codebase. We will get new fast database, UPNP, new OpenSSL, of course POS, and other improvements. For now I begin debug POW mining (for transition POW=>POS phase). After that some tuning of POS, some tests in test net & after in main net. And NYAN 2.0 go on! I'm very busy now :( , but I working on it! :P I keep new wallet turned on last week and found one non critical bug with block time constraints, it can be cause of sync lag in some situations. I fix it, and for now new wallet connected to net perfectly. I have more than 60 connections on new wallet, on old not more than 5. So UPNP working good :) Yesterday I implement correct fee rule, and test transaction from Cryptsy and back. It passed good. 8) Today I'll perform more transaction tests and encrypted wallet.dat tests. New wallet has ability coin control what allow manually select inputs for transaction. I'm glad to see anyone interested our poor cat. :D If you don't use wallet for solo mining you may don't run RPC server. listen=1 and gen=0 are defaults, daemon=1 needed only for console version, not for QT, maxconnections=1024 I would like to see so many active nodes =) So, you can simplify your conf file to only one string "addnode=<node IP>". Wallet version 1.2 not supported UPnP, this is a cause low count of connections. You should forward port 33701 MANUALLY through your router/host/etc, else your node could work only in passive mode - no one node cannot connect to your, only you can connect to active (with open port) nodes. I would suggest looking into AuxPOW like Dogecoin did a few months ago as a way to secure the blockchain with plenty of hash.
On a different topic I still support Nyancoin through p2pool at xpool.net (http://xpool.net) I just left the wallet running and it took a while to find other nodes but it finally did. Here is a list of nodes I am currently connected to: 71.175.81.45 188.166.47.219 91.122.100.96 Edit: I believe Nyancoin uses IRC to communicate nodes so you may want to ensure those ports are open. Don't hold me to this as I haven't checked the source.
