At the end of the day it is down to the seller/buyer to use diligence and vet who they trade with carefully before committing themselves. It is personal choice, if the seller does not want to use a particular service that does not automatically make him/her a potential scammer - they may have a very valid reason for not doing so, as can be seen in this case - once bitten & all that. Escrow has it's place in the community, but it is not the be all & end all. Basically, if you are uncomfortable or not 100% sure - don't buy it. I believe there is still a lot of trust in the bitcoin community, it's what makes it so special and it has not let me down so far........ ;D Use the force wisely my little half-lings :D Peace.
