Answer to all: Unless they drop to $0 everywhere, the price will go up at least one time. For every coin.

the ones that have innovative features and have a market for them have some chance to establish themselves and have a sustainable growth. Others, except btc, only by miracle will survive

Bitcoin and dogecoin are the most established coins so far. Other types of coins may just vanish someday just like that. Bitcoin is the most popular and it's value will rise.

By the end of 2014, only three of the coins will be having any value.

Others will die out.

I can see Mintcoin up there. Mintcoin has excellent branding and the dev and community are working hard at building up the coin. There is also a PoS wallet for Android that is finishing and there is a Mintcoin Fund as well. You get 20% interest in year 1 and 15% interest in year 2.

The only once I see going up is darkcoin since it actually has a purpose. Assume that darkwallet is known for suppliers.

I'm going to vote for MINT as well, being that it's been getting better and better. Really, though, everything is tied to Bitcoin. If Bitcoin dies off, the others do as well.

I think it will be darkcoin it has really big trading volume and is about to add important features.

Bitcoin, Litecoin and maybe feathercoin. I feel that their developers are really helpful.

The only one I would be willing to bet on would be Bitcoin. All the others simply aren't as big or will ever attain the adoption that BTC has and will have - and to me seem to be there to give people an excuse to mine something other than Bitcoin. That being said, while I'm hopeful I'm not very expectant of Bitcoin to go the distance - after all it is an experiment and an interesting one at that.

I think after BTC, it will be Litecoin and Dogecoin. Just my guess.  :P

I would bet on bitcoin and litecoin.

bitcoin and litecoin will go up in the future.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows these two are safe bets already though. Bitcoin is because everything is tied to it. If Bitcoin doesn't go up, nothing else can either (their value relative to Bitcoin can go up, but Bitcoin will always determine the cap). Litecoin will just keep alongside Bitcoin because it's been here so long.

I don´t think litecoin is safe. It will be one of the coins gonna die, same doge. Simply case they have no reason to stay.

BTC and NXT are the safest at the moment, and they will stay for sure.

Dark will loose much value, when BTC and NXT will simply add a good dark feature.

One of the storage coins will survive, sia or maidsafe, maybe both.

exo, NEM, etc. have to proove that they are legit, but maxbe they have huge potential.

Ripple, I hate it, but I think it will stay.

And there will be new players.

But the rest will have a very unsure future.

the thing is no one out of this alt currency section has heard about it.. so the chances are not high that it will go up to the mark of bitcoin or litecoin

I don't see the appeal of Vertcoin anyways. What, that it's ASIC-resistant? So is X11. The coin doesn't bring anything new as far as I'm aware; it's just another coin trying to fight off ASICs.

Altcoins will always exist, because people like alternatives and more trading options and if Bitcoin booms alt coin market will even be more popular than now.

Dogecoin-
It has a base, Shibe is what they call users, everyone gives it away and it spreads constantly-then those people buy so they can be cool too and join the fun community. They are totally all over any legit challenger or coin that tries to copy. They can raise money at the drop the hat. They even have their own funny language for gods sake. They make it easy to join and mine. The list goes on. Its a coin to buy and hold. It will continue to go up and down but always rise overall. The shibes will only continue to multiply !!!

Nxt -
They are all over it. They lost their leader, BCNext, but are moving ahead full speed. Just take a look at their official thread and try to tell me it doesn't scream unstoppable. The poor distribution is the only thing that slowed it down. Many investors were freaked out because of the 20 or so initial stakeholders. And no it wasn't 71 in real life lol. Understandably, this scared away many investors and put the brakes on it's ascent. One can only imagine where they would be right now if it wasn't for this. They add on features and innovate as often as Doge pulls marketing stunts. Buy and hold! You will be rich. At this point, it doesn't matter if you are one of its initial whales or not.

NEM-
Where the Nxt ascent slowed on launch, don't expect this from NEM. With their visionary leader UtopianFuture building a solid community of almost 3000 accounts claiming a stake, and at least 1000 unique people holding NEM at launch, distribution is gasoline not water. With a lot of members from the Nxt community also jumping on board, it's no wonder it has more hype pre-launch than most of its competitors will see in their heyday. Abandoning early plans of cloning Nxt and bringing on lead coder, Jaguar, along with six other developers, they are introducing POI - Proof Of Importance. With this new concept, we will see the most important nodes in the network being rewarded most. Expect NEM to follow its inspiration in Nxt when it comes to innovation. How far NEM will climb remains to be seen. Buy and hold. It's about as close to a no brainer as they come. If they are able to innovate like Nxt, and gain a following like Doge, in their New Economy Movement, it will make the stakeholders that were able to hang on.. and early investors.... Millionaires

Litecoin is safe, and the creator of the Scrypt mining system. It is also the second biggest coin to Bitcoin, and the silver to Bitcoin's gold. Scrypt is a very innovative technology, and few ASICs exist for them, if any, at the time of this writing. Plus they have decent profit.

Dogecoin has a likelihood to stay, as it has a nice community backing it, and it has an unlimited coin amount, so more and more miners will go to it as it allows for them to mine something with an unlimited amount of coins. This could lead to massive inflation, however.

Uh, was your comment about Scrypt ASICs serious? These have been shipping out for well over a month, and have been on the network for longer than that.

Qora, its a no brainer. 10x price increase in the next month guaranteed.

What makes Qora special? I haven't even heard of it...

Oh its just a completely new code that has all the elements of NXT but implements them differently putting it in terms of innovation in a group of about 3 Second gen coins. With rumors that the developer is BCNext working on his real project. With a simple wallet that works like clockwork from a developer that works almost alone and has achieved in a short few weeks what large teams working on crappy rip off clones of NXT couldn't.




   

Having a new coin with a new idea doesn't mean much. How is the coin going to derive its value? Who is on-board with it to help promote it (in a value-generating way)?

I think BlackCoin will be the winner, they hired a professional PR company, I see some good movement in there.

With all due respect you better go look into it yourself. You may let this pass you by but seriously dude me telling you about this has the potential to make your coin wealth increase by 10x. You really should be thanking me. There is a trading thread like NXT had and you won't be able to see these kind of low prices once it hits an exchange in a matter of days.

I've already scanned over it. Nothing there talks about who is accepting it or where it is deriving value from. You can have the best idea in the world but if nobody invests, it is worth nothing. The coin has to create its own value; you can't just throw something in the wild and hope everyone else will do it for you.

Monero, once people realize all other anon coins are a joke.

None of them have REALLY figured out the anonymity part yet, in a practical use way that is. But they all seem to be getting close. But it has also seemed that way for awhile.


We will see.

I would bet on NEM, if I could choose just one coin.

I think Bitcoin will be up and down just like any other coins/currencies.
Other coins that I think could have better value in the future are Litecoin and Dogecoin.

I would of course say bitcoin, and think litecoin too, and in some way doge will be there.... and about bytecoin/monero i think too will become more valuable this year, but long term who knows! darkcoin and some other ones like fantomcoin are difficult to guess about, still.. ;)

its already up by 100+% since yesterday check the charts from a few days ago it was even lower, people just start to find this elusive coin, till now they did not pay much attention to it.

The best bet is on SIA, cause it´s a project with a real use-case instead of just competing Bitcoin.
