Title: Gox is goxxing?
Post by: SkRRJyTC on February 08, 2012, 12:03:03 PM
I just watched a 40kish sell. Now it no longer on the charts.  I dashed to mtgox to try and put an order in at a price that apparently never happened.  Gox is a joke.

Now a smaller sell is there.  Is this also a phantom move or is this someone reacting poorly to a phantom move.  Real traders in real markets dont need to waste their time with stupid questions like this.

I bought at 5.4 on Gox...

Really? Not a single one of my charting sites show the price even hitting 5.40

I bought at 5.4 on Gox...

nice!

I swear, this one person buys and sells every few days. I should know better than to expect nice things.  ;D

Of course this happened when the price was inching up in the the 5.70s again. The 'big player' got desperate he wasn't gonna get his cheaper coins after all. Holding at 5.45 thus far though, great to see people with some will power not to panic. We'll see what happens.

Clarkmoody handled it well; which implies that the feed from Mt.Gox was maintained and was showing valid data.

After posting their financial information and hardware specifications, why is the community not outraged by these problems in times of "heavy" trading? Problems being defined as slow processesing of trades.  Slow website connectivity, mtgoxlive connectivity, etc.

Many are but MtGox don't seem to care. I bet they will if bitcoinica creates their own exchange and takes the 75% of the business they already make for MtGox with them.

The bid side increased like crazy. Almost right back to where it was previously. But it ALL went away again. I believe it is actually the BAD BIG PLAYER, the evil one (lol) attempting to make people think a huge sell just happened again if they see the ghost lines on MtGox.

I hope all this fails big time for him. This would be quite entertaining to know.

You have to be crazy enough to put money in these exchanges to be in a position to be outraged by these problems.  ;)

I havent risked much money at all.  But I truly care about BTC and I am sure the BTC will not grow until we overcome these exchange inefficiencies.

I mean... youd have to be crazy to buy enough mining great to be outraged by this BIP 16/17 stuff right?

Yeah, it’s too bad MtGox did not load so I could buy the 5.4 order (fucking bots). You guys are always good for a nice whipsaw!

Someone sold 4K into that bid wall and it dissapeared - old story - this time it was a bit more sophisticated by using bots and small increments.

Title: Re: Gox is goxxing?

Those bids accounted for _way_ more than 4k

Title: Re: Gox is goxxing?
Post by: NamelessOne on February 08, 2012, 12:46:37 PM
Yes... but minutes later then entire bid wall came back. Everything. But promptly disappeared again though, causing massive ghostlines on mtgox live. There were now trades to cause this though. It looked like further manipulation to cause people to see these lines and think more selling was happening than actually was. I've seen this behavior before, but usually with less funds.

Nice! 5.75 again, will this keep up? It would be highly entertaining to have a dump turn into a rally. lol.

Edit: 5.78 soon after. It has gone higher than before the dump!

Playing with Bitconica atm.  Someone dumped the price so I bought some longs.  Price back up to $5.67.  Profit.  Nice.

Is someone deliberately screwing around with the bitcoin price?  Can't think of any other reason to dump the price to $5.30 in an instant and see it quickly build back up again.

Probably not. All live feeds are dead again, thanks to Mtgox's shitty API. Such a big joke for a company that size...

Reload Mtgox itself. The price at this instant is 5.76. My MtGox live is actually working but slow, and it appear there too. The sell side dropped a lot.

EDIT: Heck! New daily high on Mtgox 5.78639. Just broke through a wall.

I'm not seeing it.  It's at 5.67 for me at both mtgoxlive and btccharts.  Mtgox.com says 5.70.

Yes, on clarkmoody and mtgox website we are current hitting at sell wall of 7000 at 5.80. But the price is there. =)

Yes indeed. This is extremely entertaining. If this superdump ends up not working I will be laughing hard.

Just like it happened after the Bitcoinica incident (from 4.64 to 6.95).

Looks like the buying pressure slowed down a bit.

The wall at 5.80 is only 3500 coins now though. Dropped from 7000 in like 8 minutes.

EDIT: Now it is at 2500! In like a minute.

Nope, not working properly here. Besides, clarkmoody doesn't show any market depth, so I appreciate the updates he's giving. I'm semi-blind at the moment, which sucks for trading in the heat of the moment.

i must say i am moderatly pissed - watched the dump, saw a ~3kBTC ask wall@5.4 where i wanted to buy.

but i was unable to do so because first mtgox did not respond at all, later my bid did not get through in time it did take about 10 minutes. now the price is IMO in neutral territory, so i won't buy right now.

The spike to 5,98444 wasn't showing, but then it updated, but didn't show the drop back down to 5,93xxx. Now it's fully updated again, and both sierra chart and mtgoxlive is showing the same values. Let's hope the API doesn't crap out again once the volume increases!

Yeah, mtgoxlive is extremely slow again and btccharts is showing wrong values. I'm seeing constant activity in sierra charts with multiple trades being executed, but not a single one of them is showing up on mtgoxlive. Weird.
