Title: My view on faucets and earning bitcoins in general
Post by: Barnabe on June 04, 2014, 12:17:01 PM
    Hello everybody !
In this post I'll talk about ways to earn bitcoin (or satochis  :D )

I know bitcoins since 2010 and I have mined a bit at the time, but I still made some faucets and Paid-to-Click.
Now at the time, I think faucets were a bit more generous.
In my opinion, the main difference between today and a few years ago is that before faucets were maintained by generous people trying to get community (or newbies) involved in Bitcoin world.
Now faucets are a new business, there is no more donations to faucets, because their main motivation is profit. Maybe that was also caused my faucet's members who abused the system (with bots and/or botnets). Well at the end, faucets give now a much little reward.

A few weeks ago, my wallet was hacked, and someone stole the coins I made mining. I lost some money in the process, but I got what I deserved, I should have secured them better.

So I am now back in the start.

I tried to make some money with faucets, but most of them are useless, they have pages loaded with ads and have an anoying difficult captcha (I have to try 2 or even 3 times sometimes).

So I looked for other methods, but as you know there is no miracle. All ways are tough and annoying, but I managed to make a few mBTC in a few days without much work (but it required many time  ;D )

The only sites I think are worth my time are :
  • http://freebitco.in/ (http://freebitco.in/)                                                                 or http://freebitco.in/ (http://freebitco.in/) without the referal link
  • http://bitcoinker.com/faucet (http://bitcoinker.com/faucet)
  • http://faucet.bitcoinzebra.com/ (http://faucet.bitcoinzebra.com/)                                     or http://faucet.bitcoinzebra.com (http://faucet.bitcoinzebra.com) without the referal link

  • https://coinad.com/ (https://coinad.com/)                                                or https://coinad.com (https://coinad.com)  without the referal link
  • http://www.bitcoinget.com (http://www.bitcoinget.com/)       or http://www.bitcoinget.com/ (http://www.bitcoinget.com/) without the referal link

The last one is the most important in my opinion, this site offers the possibility to do some tasks and they pay you for each task you do. It's boring and repetitive, but you can make much more doing this than going to every faucet and type captchas.

Faucets gives a average of 100 satoshis that is a fraction of a cent (0.0007$) and requires an average of 1 minute.
By doing tasks I make 5000 satochis for 3-4 minutes that is 1250 per minute. So it's 12 times more profitable.
I still do the faucets I listed for fun, but I don't expect (or earn) anything significant with it.

Don't lose your time !

Personally I would never do faucets because the money you get from them are not worth the time in any way, at least in my country because in some countries few dollars are a lot. In my opinion faucets should be none - profit organizations just to help newbies and beginenrs to get into bitcoin because most of the people wouldn't invest in to It before they haven't tried It and when you have a free chance to try It more likely you'll buy some bitcoins In the future. I saw several threads about faucets for money but I don't understand how people could do faucets to earn money. But like I said probably only newbies do faucets to try bitcoin so that is the way It should be but even for newbies It's hard to get little amount of bitcoins from faucets so they should be none - profit in my opinion because those faucets don't earn a lot anyway.

At the beginning they were a bit like non profit organisation, but now they are a normal business.

Yes at the start of a coin the faucet's give out alot of coins to the people.
I've heard the bitcoins faucet gave 5 bitcoins away, at the start of the faucet?
I also started doing faucets at the start when I returned to bitcoin.
But I quiclkly saw, those would get you no where.
They are paying much less then minimum wages.
You're better off mining some altcoins, or starting in a signature campaign!

Faucets are a waste of time. You can only "earn" a few cents per day.

Very true.

For earning significant amount, you may sell goods or services and join sig ad program when you get to member status.

maybe you always found a faucet that has been dried up  :D

Yeah there are a lot dried up these days.
I suppose their owners just don't care. They made the faucet's setup and then just waited for ad's money.

The worst part is that they probably have more profit if they just let the dry faucet online.

Not really... ad money does not come when there is no visitor on site. When the faucets first came into existence, those used to distribute CPU mined coins so that people use it and thereby increase the value of faucet owner's coins. But the scenario is no more the same now. Common fauces with a page load of ads are not giving any value to the advertiser. Those who are adding some value to their faucets except for just spreading coins will stay in the game for the long run...

Even a dryed faucet has visitors, I don't count the number of times I entered a captcha and the site told me after that there is no Bitcoins available.

So, will u go back to that faucet again ? No right !!! ....that makes their ad revenue to decline and ultimately they vanish...

I did faucets for 3 months daily.. that way i got smtng like 0.01 btc and with that "earning" i played a bit with altcurrencyexchanges..

Some people do faucets to get "free money" so they can play with ponzies with no risk (except losing some minutes wasting life)

Now i'm having break from faucets but i still have some pages bookmarked.. I didn't market much but i got some referals.. maybe i'll gear it up a bit when i start being active about them.. because i know some dudes that have like 50 referals and they actually earn something daily

Now i focus on something that is now worth my time.. when that is done i have more time for faucets (next project seems to be more leanback)

I remember when Gavin ran his fauset and gave out a reasonable amount of bitcoin. People did abuse it, but I can say for myself that it was the first btc I ever had.

If I were you I wouldn't hold my breath expecting modern faucets to ever come close to the generosity of the older ones. Like you said, they're just a business now like any other.

I don't believe that you "know" bitcoin  from 2010.
You cannot even type "Satoshi" correctly and you are offering a links to some faucets where people can just waste their time if they haven't got thousands or refferals which you are trying to get.

You were mining but you prefer to use some faucets which are giving sh** too. :)

Interesting :)

And you told that you were hacked? How come? What was your btc address? Can you tell something more about this case to help other avoid such a nasty situations.

Kind regards.

I sent some referal link, but I didn't knew they were forbidden, I apologize for that. But no I think some one can still make at least 0.01 BTC from faucets if the person is very, very (very) patient  ;) .
If like my self you cannot buy BTC this is the only way to make some money.

As I said I used to mine a bit, times were different (lol I'm talking like an old man) GPU mining had just begun, I had a 5850m and I could mine faster than 90% of people and so I did and won some BTC at the time. Now Mining requires massive investment, that's not like the geeky cool thing I did some years ago with my computer, it's a real business and I don't want to be part of it because I know I would lose money (but the idea of having a little blockerrupter for casual use is nice  :) ). When I did it I needed no investissement at all, now if I want to mine something decent I will have to spend at least 30$ and maybe never see them back.

how much money pays BTCCLICK for one click .if I have 100 referrals under my referral link how much money I will earn in a day . will it possible to earn $30 worth of BTC in a day . and how much time will need to spend on clicks.

50-150 satoshi per click depending ads duration
i don't have any fix calculation for that
no you won't, with 100 referrals i think you can earn 0.005 BTC / month, far from $30
i don't click ads, my balance just from referral clicks

Go to primedice, get the free 250 satoshi that they will give you every minute that your account is 0.

Bet it all at 5% chance, if you lose, get another free 250.

Once you do hit, bet it all again at 30% chance, and another time all at .30% chance.

Then deposit a small amount after it confirms you can bring it all home.

Takes a while to get 3 low chance hits in a row like that but it's much more than a week of faucets.

A friend told me this, I've never personally tried it.  :D

Currently there are almost no faucets over there, and mining is difficult so i think that the best way to get into the bitcoin train is just to buy, the most secure way to do it is in an exchange, you can try ANXPRO , hong kong based and currently we dont have any fees for deposits including wire transfers.

For the math-challenged, this method will earn about $0.09 per hour on average. You are much better off with a minimum-wage job.

If you bet 250 satoshis once per minute on the 5% bet, you will win about 5000 every 20 minutes, on average. 5000 satoshis is worth about $0.03.

If you always make the subsequent 30% bet, then you will win about 0.00017 BTC every hour, on average. 0.00017 BTC is worth about $0.09.

If you alway make the final 0.3% bet, then you will win about 0.06 BTC (about $40) every 15 days of constant betting, night and day, on average.

In my experience faucets are good for users trying to understand how Bitcoin works. Many sites give good information about Bitcoin. If you earn enough to get a payout from a faucet then you can see a transaction on the blockchain that has coins going to your address.

You are correct to say that now faucets are profit focused now. Most faucets have several (usually 10+) banner ads and often the captcha never works the first attempt. The amount that faucets payout amounts to a very low wage even when compared to third world countries.

Referring others to faucet sites can potentially be more profitable if you can get enough people to sign up under you.

Many people considers the faucets payment "free", but indeed they are not.
You need to spend time on them, while you could have spent your time on other stuff (eg. earn bitcoin in a sig program, learn more about coding, watch a show to get some fun, etc).

I would suggest getting a signature deal on this forum instead of filling in captchas on faucets.

i never won many bitcoin from multipy :(
hate it, so i only get bonus from referrals :P

for many newbies in bitcoin, faucet is the right place to know about biitcoin
since newbie can't join signature campaign, they must wait
but i agree with you, 1 post in signature campaign worth 100x more than faucet

Many people considers the faucets payment "free", but indeed they are not.
You need to spend time on them, while you could have spent your time on other stuff (eg. earn bitcoin in a sig program, learn more about coding, watch a show to get some fun, etc).

This. The time you spend on faucets is time that you are essentially "working" for your "free" bitcoin. You are viewing ads which is allowing the faucet operator to earn ad revenue. The amount of time you spend on faucets will be less then minimum wage.

What's your best way of getting referrals?

You can add http://coinworker.com/ to that list.[/list]

i think btcclicks more profitable than coinad if you have many referrals sign up under your link
btclicks offer 80% from you referral, coinad only 15-20%
how much money pays BTCCLICK for one click .if I have 100 referrals under my referral link how much money I will earn in a day . will it possible to earn $30 worth of BTC in a day . and how much time will need to spend on clicks.

Right now I have 3123 referrals on btcclicks, it is one of my best earners...

I last cashed out 27 hours ago, right now I have 0.00369106 btc.

You are lucky if you get 1 out of ten referrals being active clickers... Good luck! ;D

When server resets, you can tell this when it counts down to do a withdrawal.

I don't if rented referrals are profitable, mine are all direct.

If you don't have tons of ref, it will probably take a few months for you to get 0.1 btc from faucets. :)

They're a great way for people getting to know bitcoin and gain some first-hand experience with their first bitcoin without actually buying BTC first. I guess the people operating the faucets often are the real winners. They receive money for advertisements run on the faucet-sites.

Yes, first-timers generally visit faucets to get an idea about bitcoin. But soon, they realize that it is not worth their time.
