A wallet with built-in ads?

LOL

Good luck convincing people that you're not profiting off their tracking data.

Then when an embedded advertisement exploits a vulnerability and steals everyone's wallets, I'm sure the value will skyrocket.

Who gets the advertising profit?  Please tell me the profits are divided up amongst the holders of Maskcoin.

It's module no. 3 (Distributed P2P Advertising). When you click on the button, this dialog wil popup :

http://masknetwork.com/ads.jpg

It works like this :

1. You choose the payment address (the address used to pay the network fee). The payment will go to the "network". By network, i mean a special address that receive all the network fees (a lot), pays the interests and miners....a kind o default public address. Nobody owns it. It looks like '000000000000......'.

2. You choose the number of hours the ad will be available.

3. Set a bid. Only the first 25 ads are displayed. They are displayed by the official client based on those bids. If you set a small bid, your ad will not be displayed by the clients.

4. Setup the title and the content of your new ad.

5. Choose a link. It can be an external website or an internal storefront page.

6. Click the green button.

A new packet will be broadcasted. The packet delivers a payload that instruct all the nodes to add a new ad to the ads table. Once included in a block, the payload is "commited" and the whole network will see your new ad. It usually happens within a minute. No central authority, no admin to check the content. Nothing. It's just you and the network....:))

Unlike Bitcoin blockchain that only holds information regarding transactions, the masknetwork is a distributed database that holds a lot of other info.

Another question, how to prevent fraud? without a centralized judge system, like eBay dispute, how to prevent fraud? Both buyer fraud and seller fraud. For virtual goods, escrow will work. How about physical goods?

Thanks, good job in UI design.

Half of the messages we receive are requests to buy MSK or questions regarding the "IPO". I will be honest :

1. Requesting money from investors before launching a product = SCAM (when it comes to virtual currencies).

2. Investing in a virtual currency based on  screenshots posted by a newbie is plain stupid (MaskCoin case).

No. It's not going to be any IPO. Once we launch the beta version, you will be able to trade MSK for bitcoin / cash on the "official" exchange or other exchanges.

Anyway, the wallet has a "locabitcoins" market integrated. You will be able to buy / sell from exchangers.

We will slowly release kernel source code for review (code that manage the network interaction). Somewhere in 2015 we will release the full source code. The protocol specifications will be released in the following months after launch.

What you see is only 50%-60% of the interface. We are working on "address options" section which is big and complex. Address options means

- network level double factor authentication features
- escrowing system
- multisignatures
.
.
.

In a word, security code. One of the main features of the network is that loosing the private key of an address doesn't mean you will loose your coins. Starting from the first weeks, we will publish public / private keys of our addresses as a demonstration that compromising the private key, means nothing for an MSK owner.

Can a bitcoin / NXT / shitcoin owner do this ? ....:) No.

MSK has nothing to do with Bitcoin / NXT source code. It's new software written from scratch. You will see it from the first minutes after using the wallet.

No IPO, a little innovation in the altcoin world, I don't think this coin can attract investors.

New source code from scratch sounds good in theory.  I'd be more interested in reading a paper about your idea then IPO's and all that.

The graphic design is amazing.  The distributed ad system is a neat concept, but how do you deal with spam/contraband/bad-stuff if its p2p with no approval?

>I'm making this announcement, because the number of new altcoins is staggering and likely in September there are going to be 3 or 4 shitcoins that will use the word "MaskCoin" or "Mask" in their shitnames. MaskNetwork means thousands of hours of work and innovation. It's a big step forward for cryptocoins (distributed p2p ledgers) and i want to be sure there is no confusion in the end.
Lol, I definetly like it, looking forward to September.

1. The ads are paid and only the first 25 ads are displayed based on bid / hour. In time the first 25 spots will become expensive. This will solve the spam issue.

2. Contraband / illegal stuff - Sooner or later drugs dealers will step. You can sell weed using TOR or you will be able to do it using MaskNetwork or other clones. If you get caught you go to jail. If not, you make money. same old story. It's a distributed p2p marketplace. Nobody controls anything. Nobody can delete anything. Nobody can tell you what to sell. You can only watch the show...:)

I am the owner of anno1777 labs, the company behind great games like anno1777 or goldentowns (anno1777 was sold this year). Goldentowns is quite popular here.

The game's currency is GoldenTowns Coin (GTC). There are 100.000 GTC in circulation, 100% backed by gold.

What you see is a small wallet to allow players to spend the coins outside the game. It was nice addition to GoldenTowns, but its a simple centralized, client-server application written in flash. It took around 2 weeks to write it. It's nice, has some app written around it but it's nothing compared to MaskNetwork.

We took the interface, rewrite everything in java, worked for 12 months in a row and you are going to see the results in August.

We have 5 years of writing extremely complex real money social games.

No, those who wrote MaskNetwork are not newbies programmers...:))

Title: Re: [ANN] MaskCoin and MaskNetwork
Post by: themasknetwork on June 19, 2014, 12:03:43 PM
1. Launch date : on August, 1 we will launch the testnet. The real net along with MSK / USD and MSK / BTC exchanges will be launched on September 20.

2. IPO : IPO will start September 8. It will close on September 16. We will sell 500.000 coins at different price levels.

DO NOT BUY MSK unless you have TESTED the client / network and consider it worth the risk. MaskNetwork code has over 50.000 lines of code (187 java files). It's completely NEW AND UNTESTED software. Only the interface took hundreds of hours to write / design.

3. Distribution model : There are going to be 100.000.000 coins. 5 millions are owned by the team. The rest are going to be slowly distributed to stakeholders mainly by INTEREST. The ideea is simple. ANY address holding at least 25 MSK will receive initially a 25% / year interest, paid DAILY. The interest will decrease / increase depending on the default address balance. We think that, in the first 4-5 years, the 25% interest will maintain itself. The default address pay the interest but in the same time receives tons of fees (network services like ads, transactions fee...)

Technical aspect : addresses will issue every 24 hours a RFI packet (Request for interest). The packet contains a transaction sending coins from the default network address (the address holding the 95 mil coins) to any other address. The signer of the transaction has to own minimum 25 MSK. Once the transaction is included in a block, and executed, the signer address can not spend coins for 24 hours.

For example an address holding 1000 MSK will generate 0.68 MSK / day. All you have to do is to keep your wallet open to receive the interest.

So this is something like closed p2p ebay with built up payment mechanism? Looks decent, but if I am not mistaken there already is a Bitcoin, ebay and TOR network. Those probably offer much more then your current project.

Are you serious?
silkroad charges 6% per item sold. TOR is not a completely decentralized network and it is slow. The server the web files are hosted on can be taken down anytime. TOR blackmarket is not the solution, a p2p completely decentralized market IS the solution.

Whether it be Maskcoin or OpenBazzar, I don't care, what i do care about is the fact that the marketplace is 100% decentralized and anonymous.

As far as i now, OpenBazzar is not quite a full p2p solution. You still need to "connect" to "stores". You are still browsing remote computers. Also does not have an integrated payment method. It uses Bitcoin for payments. There are also rumors that it is not going to be released anytime soon :

"None of its original creators want to work on it any more, with their own projects taking up the majority of their time, and so it is left to the community to continue the coding. "

When you put a new item for sale on MaskNetwork, a packet is broadcasted and all nodes will update their local database. When you browse a store, you are not browsing a REMOTE location, you are browsing YOUR COMPUTER. Only when you click "Buy", the payment transaction is broadcasted.

That means 100% anonymity for those who sell. As a seller, you don't need a hosting / computer. You just add your product to the distributed ledger and wait for orders.

Hey, Sam from the OpenBazaar project here. Just wanted to clear up a few things.

That quote about the creators not continuing development is about Dark Market, not OpenBazaar. Because of that, we forked Dark Market and are continuing development. We have a development roadmap and are aiming to have beta release late summer:

https://github.com/OpenBazaar/OpenBazaar/wiki/Development-Roadmap

Also, it is a p2p marketplace. Each computer is a node, and listings are indexed with keywords in DHTs and can be searched.

Our use of Bitcoin is something that we think is a feature, not a bug.

Good luck with MaskNetwork. Creating a p2p network for trade is a difficult project, so if you're open to collaboration on the tough questions, we are too. We want to see this happen. You can reach me at sam@openbazaar.org.

No one... some will be available for you to buy... the rest will go the stakeholders "mainly" in the form of interest. Whatever mainly means.

And this isn't decentralized! It's 100% centralized! A beautiful interface that's going to start wave 4, is it? Now we'll be telling everyone that's okay to become a corporation... we don't give a hoot about preventing shit like that anyway, right? Offer a store where I pay you to advertise (well, can't imagine many joe's in this camp will be able to afford prime placement, no fair).... how about a service to "rent" vanity addresses? Are you going to auto bill my wallet every month? What happens to my coins if I can't pay my bill and someone else gets my vanity name and my sister sent me some coins? But I shouldn't be worried... if I don't want my coins, I can trade them in (to you) for good old fashioned gold. This isn't innovation.

Who's benefits? No one except 'stakeholders'. It's just sad that most won't recognize until the scene changes. Appearances. Ok, I admit... this launch might be a good thing somewhat, in setting a higher standard for these scam coins (and that would be based mostly on esthetics; these idiots here are easily fooled)  ... But I hope you know what you're doing - this is dangerous ground for the whole crypto world as it stands today. Hell, maybe MaskCoin's silver standard coin might offer miners a steady paycheck or something to mine coins that never reach their wallet until payday.

And I'm just a nobody... I don't have a failed coin or anything, not my issue with this coin. It's the disguise.

I don't understand how it is distributed.

Who gets the other 95,000,000 coins to start?

Also don't get why in POS coins those already having coins get so much interest  ???

Premine is 5 million

IPO is 500k

Now if interest is 25% a year, in reality it means that the creator will have 10x more coins than all the other coins in existence.

So yes, you could say this is a 90% premine.

If its opensource, someone should just clone it and make the distribution fair.

No one... some will be available for you to buy... the rest will go the stakeholders "mainly" in the form of interest.

MaskNetwork has a DEFAULT ADDRESS, initially holding the 95.000.000 coins. This default address receives the NETWORK FEES and it's paying the STAKEHOLDERS. This address has no private key, and nobody owns it. DEFAULT ADDRESS=NOBODY. Now :

1. "Offer a store where I pay you to advertise " - When you pay a spot, the coins go to DEFAULT ADDRESS. You don't pay us. You pay a NETWORK FEE.

2. "how about a service to "rent" vanity addresses" - You can register any address for the same price 0.0001 MSK / day. The coins go to the DEFAULT ADDRESS, not to us. It's a NETWORK FEE.

3. "What happens to my coins if I can't pay my bill and someone else gets my vanity name " - The money will go to somebody else.

4. "I can trade them in (to you) for good old fashioned gold" - you can't. We don't buy MSK for gold. This is not GoldenTowns...:)

5. "Who's benefits? No one except 'stakeholders'." - Any address holding 25 MSK will receive 25% / year interest paid daily. Even at 1 MSK = 10 USD, any address holding 250 USD will become a 'stakeholder'. There are going to be tons of 'stakeholders'.

You just add your product to the distributed ledger and wait for orders.

it sounds like a good idea. Would u mind share some information about the team behind the projects?  at least some key information , ex: how many of u , what background and  what projects have your team involved before?

Thanks

NXT free market and OpenBazaar is some serious competition but right now this is the only project that you can get involved in  by participating in the IPO.

Escrow is a must !

Nice, looking forward to that. Do you have an ETA for the IPO?

Title: Re: [ANN] MaskCoin and MaskNetwork
Post by: themasknetwork on August 05, 2014, 02:06:30 PM
This is a short roadmap :

1. August, 5, 2014 - Official exchange launch (www.maskexchange.com)

2. August 10, 2014 - Proof of concept client release (a regular client that will not connect to the test net. It's perfect if you want to review all the network features)

3. September 10, 2014 - TESTNET LAUNCH. THE REAL NET IS SCHEDULED TO BE LAUNCHED in JANUARY, 2015 !!!
On September 10, the client should be capable of :

- Sending MSK
- Sending MSK using an escrower address
- Sending user issued coins / assets
- Sending user issued coins / assets using an escrower address

ADDRESS OPTIONS (address options are options that can be applied to each of your addresses. They are ususally security features.):

- Renting an address name

- Address frozing (a frozen address can not send coins for a limited period, see screenshots)

- Address sharing (you can share an address private key with another one, see screenshots)

- Enable / disable messages for an address

- Restricted recipients (you can restrict the recipients for any of your addresses. In this case, an attacker that compromises your private key will be able only to send coins to some predefined addresses. You can "chain" this rule over multiple addresses making almost impossible fo0r someone to teal your coins)

- One time password activation (If you activate this option, each outgoing transaction will require an unique password. After each transaction a new password is generated and the network is informed about this new password)

- Multiple signatures (if you add a new signature to an address, any outgoing transaction will have to be aproved by all designated signers. The network can wait for all signatures or obtain them from web addresses)

- Sealing an address. If you seal an address, no security options can be applied for a while. Ususally after you apply security options on an address, you should also SEAL it. If an attacket get your private key, he / she will not be able to apply new security options like adding a new signature....

 MESSAGING
- Send messages to other addresses

ADS
- Post an advertising message

So, only 25%-30% of all features will be activated. As i have already mentioned before, MaskCoin is something much more than a distributed market and much more than a simple coin. There are a lot of details to be discussed.

IPO
---------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, 75% of messages we receive are not about features or client operations. 75% of you asks "when is the IPO", when the "presale begin ?" and so on....

Maskcoin means inovation, so there is not going to be a regular IPO where the developers scream "5 minutes until end, buy, buy, buy !!!"....:)) We have decided to sale real MSK that will be delivered on January, 2015 using the OFFICIAL EXCHANGE (WWW.MASKEXCHANGE.com)

WHAT IS MASKEXCHANGE.COM ?
Bassically is an automated USD / MSK exchange where the price is adjusted after each purchase / sale of MSK. It has guaranteed liquidity, because you are not selling / buying MSK from other traders. We sale / buy MSK on the spot and the system is adjusting the price after each trade. The fee is 0.5% / transaction. It's new kind of exchange...one that can execute any order size any time with 0 delays while the market price moves depending on supply / demand. The starting price for 1 MSK is 1 USD / MSK.

For example, if the price is 1.9832 and you buy 25 MSK, the exchange is instantly executed but the price jumps to 1.9857. If you sell 25, the price become 1.9807

You can deposit USD by
- Bitcoin (automated)
- OKPay (manual)

You can withdraw USD by
- Bitcoin (automated)
- PayPal (manual)
- Payza (manual)
- OkPay (manual)
- SEPA Transfer (manual)
- International bank transfer

If you keep your coins, you will receive REAL MSK over the REAL NET in January, 2015.

If you have questions, you can ask on this thread. We will check it daily.

The price grows 0.0001 USD after each MSK you purchase, so unfortunattely, we will have MUCH more if  we sale all of the 5 million meaning we are really greedy. The real coins will be delivered in january 2015, not in mars but the good news is you ARE MISSING THE WHOLE POINT :

1. This is NOT an IPO !!!

2. MaskExchange is not a fundraising website. MaskExchange is an EXCHANGE where you can buy or SELL your coins. There is a "Withdraw" option.

2. Those "millions" you are talking about are not devs money, but investor's money. They will be paid back if the investors sell their coins.

I know that 99% of alt-coins have the same rules, use the same code and the "IPO" is always the same, but it's not the case here. We are trying to maintain liquidity of MaskCoin before and after real net launch, not to rise funds for development. We don't have the same rules, the code is 100% new and there is no IPO.

Wow the dev is a real joke. So you just woke up one day and decided that the price for one coin will be one dollar :D

You've got useless altcoin that wasn't even reviewed by community and you want to sell it in PUMP UP IPO MODEL. Your motivation to cash out during the hype is beyond obvious.  No escrow no nothing just mysterious exchange that claims to be one of a kind....

P.S. With 5 million coins you can manipulate the price any way you want to. You can sell it to yourself to make the price go up.  You control the exchange you control the coins there is just too much power in your hands. Centralization is one of the things that all the successful altcoins are trying to avoid yet in your case it is the core of this rubbish project.

I love those posts...:))

In 3-4 days a proof of concept wallet will be available for download. You can review all the features. It's far from "useless". Cashout during the hype, will reduce our stake to almost ZERO. We have no intentions to do this. The reason is simple. We did not use 50.000 lines of bitcoin code, added 2000-3000 new lines and call it MaskCoin.

We wrote 100k lines from scratch and this involved thousands hours of work. It's easy to DUMP after you work 2-3 weeks on a shitcoin having 2-3 "features". It's not the case here.

We have 2 priorities. One is the development of MaskCoin. The other is maintaining liquidity of the coin in the first years. This is why we started MaskExchange.com

The starting price of $1 for 1 MSK is a very low one.

Our advice is to wait for the testnet or at least for the POC client, review the features and software operation then come back and scream "scam !!!"

PS : The team behind great games like GoldenTowns.com, is the team behing MaskCoin. We paid hundreads of thousands of euros to players in the last year alone. We are here for the long run.

@DEV
Q1, if i buy now, could i get the pos interest?
Q2, If you couldn't sell the whole 5 million coins, what will you do with the rest coins? and when will you stop selling the 5 million coins?

1. No. The interest will start to be paid by the network after the real net launch.

2. We don't want to sell 5 million coins and we can't sell that much, because we need at least 2.000.000 to bootstrap some p2p markets. MaskExchange will issue Bitcoins, USD, Euro and a bunch of other virtual currencies. Those assets will trade over p2p distributed markets inside MaskNetwork and we need MSK to sustain those markets.

MaskNetwork is NOT about MaskCoin. A lot of other private issued coins will be traded or USED TO BUY GOODS from market.

For example, you can post a sale offer for mining hardware and accept : Bitcoins, USD, EURO, MSK. You can accept an unlimited number of currencies when selling an item.

And, trust me. A lot of traders will choose to pe paid in virtual USD or virtual EURO issued by third parties instead of MSK or other volatile currencies.

Shut up and take my money!!!!!!!

There are 100 mil total coins. The developers own the initial stake of 5 million available coins. It's a POS coin and without an initial stake the network can not start. The 5 mil coins we own are available for sale on maskexchange.com

What about the other 94500000 coins, how will you deal with them?

The rest of 95.000.000 coins are going to be distributed by interest (25% / year) to stakeholders. Any address holding at least 25 MSK will receive a daily interest of 0.06%/ day.

If I want to buy 1 million coins, then I must to pay $51 million?
And the new price will be $101 per MASK?
Dev, is that correct?

Edit:

Code:
Account 1bbbbf0b16... bought 2.99 MSK for 4.03 USD and the price increased to 1.34320 +2.99 MSK -4.03 USD 1.34320 1 hour

Price was 1.34290, after the purchase of 3 MSK - 1.3432, increased by 0.0003.

But from: http://www.maskexchange.com/buy.php
Quote
The price grows 0.00001 USD after each MSK bought. For example, if you buy 100 MSK, the price will gro 0.001 USD.
Is wrong?

Exactly. Price increases 0.0001 after EACH bought coin. It decreases after each sold coin. If you want to buy 1.000.000 coin, you are not going to pay $1.000.000. You are going to pay much more.

A wallet with built-in ads?

LOL

Good luck convincing people that you're not profiting off their tracking data.

Then when an embedded advertisement exploits a vulnerability and steals everyone's wallets, I'm sure the value will skyrocket.

Who doesn't love a language that has been responsible for countless infections and/or creepy tracking? :D

This is a misunderstanding. I have mentioned before that, what you see on the right side of the wallet, it's the p2p distributed ad system that have nothing to do with web ads. I will give you an example :

1. Click "Advertise here" button. The following dialog will popup.

2. Complete the form and click submit. You have to choose how many hours your ad will be displayed and how much per hour you are willing to spend. The ad contains a title, a message and a link.

3. A packet is broadcasted to all nodes. The packet contains a payment to the default address and the advertising data.

4. The packet is included in the next block and all nodes update their local database.

5. All wallets will start to display your ad if they are targeted (based on country). But they DON'T DOWNLOAD the ad from an external source. The wallets are READING THE LOCAL DATABASE !!! Tracing wallets is out of the question, because wallets don't "connect" to an external service to get the ads list. They are browsing a local file. No javascript, no applets or other tracing scripts.

The good news is that even if there is no connection between the wallet and other external website, advertisers can still TARGET who will watch the ad, based on country.

You can target only users from Poland, but you will NEVER know what wallets are located in Poland. The wallet comes integrated with GeoIP. The wallet know it's own address (the peers will communicate your IP address when a connection is made). Based on IP, the wallet will find the country where it's located (it will browse the LOCAL GeoIP database) and will display the right ads / market section.

As an advertiser, you can be 100% sure that only wallets in Poland will display your ad, but in the same time you have ZERO data regarding the wallets that display the ad.

The same rules apply for the market. The wallet will browse the local database when displaying items, meaning there is ZERO connection between sellers and buyers. When you browse a "hidden" TOR website, you are still connecting to a remote server. When you browse MaskCoin market, you are browsing YOUR LOCAL COMPUTER !!! Seller don't need a website.

Only the first 25 ads are displayed, based on market bid.

5. All wallets will start to display your ad...

Don't you think that the very first client clone will be "No Ads" client?

Especially if there is no censorship and there will be penis enlargement ads all over every wallet (sex-related ads tend to be more profitable, or so it seems from spam and web ads).

How would you counter this?

1. 3 billions devices run java, from ATMs to routers. I really don't understand what's wrong with java. Right now, java is the best SDK to write a p2p network.

2. "The source" has around 85.000 lines of code. If a programmer will start to "check the source" today and spends around 4-5 hours / day, he will be able to give you an accurate answer to the question "is secure ?" in November or December. This is not a bitcoin fork.

The team owns only 5 million out of 100 mil. So the 5 mil. is the "premine" and the total amount available for sale. The rest of 95 mil will be distributed to stakeholders by interest. We can't use the rest of 95 mil.

It's an automated process. The address that make the payments has no private key and the whole distribution is controlled/approved by the network. The developers an not use the 95 mil. coins.

I can use the wallet now. It's very cool! But one problem,I cann't make the wallet full-screen in windows 7. It's inconvenient to use some buttons because some buttons will be hided if the wallet cann't be full-screen.

Another problem is the font is small.

I think so.

Anyway, bitcoins where very expensive at $5 / coin, 2 years ago.

Really, it's a long list. For example, open your wallet and click on an address and you will see 5 tabs of unique options you can assign to an address, like 3 types of double factor authentication, IPN, request additional data....

There is a one click p2p escrowing service, multiple signatures, messaging, ads, asset market, and a market where you can buy physical / digital goods using MSK or any other coin issued by a thirth party and so on.

Can you give me an example of p2p anonymous distributed market for physical / digital goods ??? Don't tell me about scams built on top of Bitcoin QT client with 0 features and some blurred screenshots.

I am reading this forum almost every day and i could not find something similar. Not even close to...

Let me say it this way, Ethereum is very fantastic and very innovative but now the presale raised only 15M dollars, if all MSK sold out, I suppose it will raise 10M dollars, but can you compare MSK with Ethereum?!

I noticed another thing, when I try to buy MSK in http://www.maskexchange.com/
there is a paragraph saying as below, so if all 5 million MSK sold out, the price per MSK will be very high, correct?

"The price grows 0.00001 USD after each MSK bought. For example, if you buy 100 MSK, the price will gro 0.001 USD. Keep in mind that the real network is not yet launched. You will receive the real coins in your wallet on mars, 15, 2015."

You can buy any amount of masks using BTC or USD in any time. You can sell any amount of masks to get BTC or USD in any time. No buy and sell list! This is very different from others.

Mask dev,

There is an error in http://www.maskexchange.com/

When you choose "sell MASK", the description shows"The price grows 0.00001 USD after each MSK bought. For example, if you buy 100 MSK, the price will gro 0.001 USD"

The right description should be "The price decreases 0.00001 USD after each MSK sold. For example, if you sell 100 MSK, the price will decrease 0.001 USD".

I have just read the Ethereum TOS, and i think you were scammed. Ethereum is an inflationary currency, with zero value. The inflation rate is huge (26%), but it could be changed anytime soon.

"....for technical reasons EthSuisse may need to change the annual rate of new creation to a value lower than 26% to account for changes to the Ethereum mining algorithm or to address other issues that may arise. There is no guarantee that this percentage will be accurate or that this rate will continue at the same level....."

Right now, comparing Ethereum with MaskCoin or any other shitcoin is a nonsense... Ethereum is not a coin. Ethereum is fuel.

Your pricing is greedy and too expensive, furthermore you will earn most of the interest because of your 5% stake...It will be impossible for most to compete against your stake in leveling out distribution because of your structure of increasing pricing points...whats more you will almost be obsolete and scratching for marketshare by the time you are ready to launch because you are alienating most of your market with your greedy pricing...wanna know why? there are at least 4 to 5 projects or more in the same space launching in days and weeks I will point you to a few, word of advise: listen to your potential patrons, Goodluck.

And huge disadvantages. The site is always the counterparty and because of their system the site can never lose money, but only. Now because the site can never lose money, the customers will always have a net loss. Sure their "Balance" might say they have a "gain" because the price is now higher, but once some people cashout the price plummets to where it was before those  guys bought.

That is not a free market. That is a ponzi.

Bitstamp case

1. 5 investors buy 1 BTC.
2. I login on bitstamp and buy 1000 BTC. The price will go up.
3. The 5 investors's balance from point 1 will show a "gain".
4. I come back and sell 1000 BTC. God knows where the price will stop from falling...
5. The 5 investors's balance from point 1 will show a "loss".

Bitstamp "can never lose money". They move the coins from left to right and get a fee. Because i have sold 1000 BTC, "the price plummets". The investors from point 1 will loose money. The website always make money. Only traders lose.

Bitstamp is not a free market. That is a ponzi.

Or NXT marketplace in 3 days.

@TwinWinNerD 3 days !!! go nxt  ;)

NXT digital goods store....Smiley)) Let's talk about it :

Day 1 (August, 12, 2014) - NXT price 0.029 USD
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- I'm a merchant and i want to sell Amazon Gift cards on NXT digital store. It would great for NXT users to buy anything they want from amazon, using NXT. Everybody is happy.

-  I am selling $100 gifts cards. I open NXT client and post a new offer at the price of 3448 NXT for 1 card.  I pay a fee for posting the offer. I sell 2-3 gyft cards. I'm happy.

Day 2 (August, 13, 2014) - NXT price 0.037 USD
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- I didn’t received any order. Wonder why.
- I open the market. 1 NXT is 0.038 USD, So, i'm selling a $100 gyft card for $122. That’s why nobody is buying. They could also buy amazon gift cards using a visa card in 2 minutes for $100.
- I reopen the client and readjust the price to 2701 NXT. I pay the update fee. Thanks god i don't have 1000 items for sale.

Day 3 (August, 14, 2014) - NXT price 0.036 USD
————————————————————————————————————————————
- I get some orders. I'm happy. No losses.

Day 4 (August, 15, 2014) - NXT Market price 0.032 USD
———————————————————————————————
- I have receive tons orders.
- I open the market. 1 NXT is 0.032 USD, So, i'm selling a $100 gyft card for $86. I panic. I just lost around $180 in a single day.
- I reopen the client and readjust the price again to 3125 NXT. I pay the update fee. Again, thanks god i don't have 1000 items for sale.

Day 5 (August, 16, 2014) - NXT Market price 0.026 USD
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- The whole inventory is gone.
- I open the market. 1 NXT is 0.026 USD, I have just sold tens of $100 gift cards for just $81. I’m shocked.
- I stop selling over NXT digital asset store.

For this example i have used REAL market data. Some NXT lovers will come and tell me that i'm a troller and retarded. But there is no escape from this scenario.

This scenario will repeat day after day for hundreads of merchants until everyone of them will stop selling.

It's easy over a website where you can display the REAL market price, but over a p2p marketplace it's not possible using a volatile currency. NXT digital goods store is not functional. Period.

Same for open bazaar. Even worse. This is why we have ZERO functional p2p markets. VOLATILITY

Go NXT !!!!

PS: Because people still not get why this is a ponzi.

Lets think about a situation where this currency takes off. Do you know where all the "market cap" will be? In the pockets of the exchange. Sure they promise to always payout. But it wouldn't be the first exchange to run with >5 M usd.

in theory ALL exchangers/merchants can run with money. That is why a solid background of a guy who paid over 500k euros to players in last 2 years does say something. I can not say i am an expert in cryptocurrencies/exchanges, etc. However i do play the games the team made for over 5 years. From my knowledge there isn't a SINGLE complaint on the fact that they do not pay. from my point of view this project has 2 benefits:
1) the reputation of the maker
2) the fact that it does bring some unique features on the table.
it is definitely something to be monitored closely.
Peace all

You don't understand. People like TwinWinNerD, are not here to discuss features or to test products. They are stakeholders in NXT or other shitcoins and they try to protect that stake. They don't care about innovation / client operation or other details. They just call you are a scammer / troller / retard, with zero evidence, and then move to another thread where they do the same thing.

This is what they do 3-4 hours / day. Each day. Thanks god we have the "Ignore button"...

You can check my post history, I only hate on a few "shitcoins". THis coin and bitcoin-trader are one of the most cancerous on this forum. That is why I post here.

Give your users the option to trade on a "normal" market and I will shut up. I don't think your concept sucks, just your exchange is designed in a ponzi scheme setup.

You are a tard...

Also you will be able to set prices in USD and people pay with the actual exchangerate.

- There is no way to specify the price in USD (i will explain in a future post why this is not an option and will never be implemented). Here is the proof : http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/File:DGS_list_product_for_sale.png

- You can't even post 2 items in the same block using the official client. That makes the above scenario a nightmare if you have over 500-600 items for sale. Here is the proof : https://nxtforum.org/marketplace/test-report/

- DGS has no rating system. A rating system is essential over a trustless p2p network. You can rate a seller but only the seller can see the "rating". This could be no. 1 the most stupid feature in an altcoin wallet. We should  vote. Here is the proof : http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Digital_Goods_Store ("You now have the option of leaving feedback to the seller (it is private, i.e. only the seller will be able to see it). Press the “give feedback” button, enter your feedback and your passphrase and hit ‘submit feedback’ and you’re all done! ")

Stop lying about NXT features. You are hurting the NXT community !!!

I said you "Will" be able. As in the future. Just because the release doesn't have all features yet doesn't mean it never will.

If thinking that helps you sleep at night, so be it.

1. We will list MSK on AE and counterparty starting october, 1, 2014. We need to stabilize the testnet first and launch some basic network features. We will deliver the real coins in January, just like on MaskExchange.com

2. Maskexchange is far from a scam / ponzi but i agree that the decentralized version is much better. The autonomus decentralized version of maskexchange.com is called GLM (Guaranteed Liquidity Market) and it's one of the most important network features because it allows merchants to instantly sell MSK for more stable third party currencies with 0 risk. Linking the price of an item to a network GLM can solve the above horror scenario but i think 90% of merchants will choose the easier way and will start to accept only stable currencies backed up by fiat, issued by 3rd parites.

http://masknetwork.com/glm.jpg

Ps : I'm not a NXT hater but the last decisions like hiding the whole AE is making the job of NXT promoters like you really difficult.

PS: Because people still not get why this is a ponzi.

Lets think about a situation where this currency takes off. Do you know where all the "market cap" will be? In the pockets of the exchange. Sure they promise to always payout. But it wouldn't be the first exchange to run with >5 M usd.

Please learn what's "ponzi" before making a comment. Maskcoin and masknetwork is very huge and promising project!

I know you were scammed countless times but it's not the case with MaskCoin.

We are running one of the the biggest real cash economic simulator in the world (http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/goldentowns.com). We are here to stay and develop a really ambitious p2p project, not to run with 100-200 BTC.

In 2 weeks the test net will launch and you can play with some unique features. We will also present a detailed roadmap. It's a matter of 2-3 months for all of you to understand that MaskNetwork is a serious and innovative software, not the classic pump and dump scam.

Stay tuned.

There is no IPO. It's the official exchange where you can trade (buy / sell) real MSK. IPO means you can only buy a currency.

Only 1.000.000 not 100 mil. The rest of 99 mil are going to be distributed in the next 60-70 years. The premine is 1%. And there is no ipo.

Testenet is live.
Network status is alpha unstable.

Use http://faucet.maskexchange.com to get your test coins.

You need to redownload the installer. (For macos users, if you receive a message that sounds like "this file is corrupted...", read this instructions http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/45404/mac-downloaded-app-is-damaged-and-cant-be-opened-error-solved/ . There is no corrupted file but osx refuses to install unsigned apps.

We will launch the official forums in 2-3 weeks and start building the community around this great project.

The first stages of the marketing campaign will start on october, 1 when we will launch the official forums.

We have also scheduled some interviews with the local press.

I think the "pump" will start somwhere in november when the network will be beta stable and the main component (the market) will be fully functional.

Stay tuned. Some amazing features are in the last stages of developments...:)

That's worse than IPO as dev holds all coins and can manipulate the market as they want.
At the present price, the premined coins cost 1.4mil dollars.

And the dev guys sell only-present-in-the-air coin for 1.4mil. Kidding me?
That's total shit and scam.

Hey @ Maskcoin Devs If msk listet on NxtAE to the initial price from Maskexchange.com goes the Maskexchange then Offline? trading on maskexchange.com then does not make any sense more?

We will never sell coins at a lower price than maskexchange.com

MaskExchange is the official exchange, it has 100% liquidity and if we list MSK on NXT Asset Exchange  or  Counterparty the price will be adjusted daily based on MaskExchange price.

The exchange had a slow start but the volume dramatically increased over the last 6 weeks and now it has a constant daily trading volume.

The new thread is self-moderated, so i will post here. The new project looks very bad. The rise of the price for the coins looks very much as a scam.

Stay away. Dont send them any money. I might be wrong, but for sure not.
