Can't do that. I really love my job. Bitcoin income sure would help, but I would never quit my job

I guess I could see someone who put in a few hundred dollars back in 2010 might be able to live off their bitcoin. But other than that I'm not so sure what you could do other than have a regular job that pays you in bitcoins. Is that what you mean?

It's not a traditional martial art. It's a self defense system. Very popular now, because it's very effective.

I only train krav maga, and heard of systema and saw a few videos, so I really can't tell. But I do know that a lot of spcial forces use krav maga, and it is the primary combat system in israel (it it an israeli system), and it is a troubled country, so I would go for krav maga. (its super simple, I think thats the main reason for its success)

I was thinking the same way.

In the first case, that's still a job, so no quit there.

In the second case, no need to quit any job. Unless you want to, but you don't need to quit to be this kind of bitcoiner.

I prefer to call it "semi-retirement" or "between careers".

LOL -- i wish. it'll be a while. if we can bubble up to $50k, i might be able to retire and live on a modest income. $100k and i would have to seriously consider cashing out most of my coins.

Nope, can't afford to yet... Bitcoin only gives me a small income for now but should become full time in about a year or two when the price grows.  ::)
 

I wish I had a job to quit, but bitcoin helps in the long run. I'm kicking myself for not investing a large amount of money in 2011 when I first found out about this forum and the price of BTCitcoin was like $14 bucks. Hell I'm kicking myself for when it was even lower than that. I kind of laughed it off because of a server I hang out on IRC a dude kept telling me about the price of bitcoin, kind of egging me on. Even then when they went really low before going up again I could have probably bought at least 10 BTC because everyone has some spare change right?

I guess looking back, I didn't think of the profitability and honestly I was a little put off by mining (when I first learned of bitcoin I was CPU mining on an atom dell notebook, real smart right?) and it was not showing me ANY kind of reward so I thought whatever and completely stopped coming here and mining.

i totally understand that. i found out about bitcoin in 2010 and actually solo mined a block after mining for a few weeks. but then i just sort of forgot about it, they weren't worth much so i didn't care. never backed up the wallet and lost the coins. after a year of trading.... i am almost back to my original stash of 50 BTC....

I don't even haved a job, that is because my contry is in trouble, I fully turned my work to btc earning.

Ugh so lucky, when I forgot about it I think every wallet that I had because for some reason I thought having multiple wallets was ok were lost to the sea. Maybe there was enough for one full BTCitcoin in there I don't know but there's no use crying over it now.

I quit because I realized that time is scarce. I am dying (in a methaphoric sense that everyone dies eventually) as you read this. I do not have a lot of time. Spending MY time just so that I can escape to leisure for 15 vacation days a year (This is actually GENEROUS vacation time for US companies)-- that's not success, but a most profound kind of failure in my opinion.

Many people seem to be confused what a full time bitcoiner is. I would say it is anyone who can make a living from bitcoin related profits. This could mean buying and selling via lbc, daytrading, running a btc related biz, posting all day for sig ad campaign dough...whatever.

I hate trading my finite time for freaking peanuts. That's why I love bitcoin because it offers me a way out of this rat race.

The authors' points remind me a lot of "The Century of Self"--- a documentary about how the consumer mindset was formed starting in the 1920's. A good read.

Late comer still have hard time quitting full job.

My plan was to start making small trades for BTC with whatever money I could find, and start to build up some kind of secure fund for the future, unfortunately each time I have any money I end up needing it to eat.

No I really can't quit a job I don't have, and I can't spare the money I don't have. I do small jobs on amazon turk for amazon money, I can't transfer that into bitcoin money as much as I wish I could.

I am not mining, nor does I have a big gambling website or as such to rely on bitcoin, therefore I prefer to keep my job, I'll leave my job one day when I start my own business or I hit a big lottery or something.

In my country only 4 out of 10 people have a job. So if I quit my job, to concentrate on BTC and it does not work out, my kids go hungry.  :(

Never quit a sure thing, for something that could be gone tommorrow.

There are too many factors to take in consideration, for you to decide to do BTC full time.

Keep it as a hobby, and should you loose your job, you would have a stable income to fall back too or fund your retirement.

But some people made a lot on BTC and might retire early.  ;D

Well I would like to but just like I would like my own island and airport but I'm just dreaming again.

Not yet but hope soon.
It's not easy when you have loan in the bank to change job and try something new and risky, but I'm planning to do this!

The problem is early adopters rode the waves of high and low and now, sitting on hundreds if not thousands of coin can manipulate and do as they please while people who were either too busy with other things or just downright too poor to mine. Or didn't know a thing about bitcoin because it wasn't as wide spread, and when I learned about it, it was almost the topic of a punchline.

Now that it's starting to become a bit more wide spread people are looking at each other wondering why they didn't do anything back when it started out, and trying to pool together resources to make just a tiny piece of the pie (sig campaigns, working for bit, etc).

That's not to say I'm knocking the early adopters, congrats but a lot of us aren't tech savvy and for the most part don't follow trends. So it seems almost, I wouldn't say unfair that there's all this coin out there and not a lot of ways to earn it anymore. What's the point of it if other people can't share in the wealth?

Anyways, I would probably quit my job, or I would go part time just to have something to do. I don't like the idea of not having anything to do, I'm going crazy now being disabled and unable to work. I couldn't imagine not having a job.

Well it sure doesn't seem like they are...for example: I was interviewed yesterday by the CFO of a Company, and when I said, "Hey, I'm going to take notes if you don't mind" he was like, "Oh no, you're taking notes? Why would you do that?" ALMOST reminded me of some kid getting busted smoking Weed....had that same "OOPS!" tone to his voice.

Will I get a call-back? NO, of course NOT: "Almighty CFO" of said Company PANICKED by me showing interest and ENTHUSIASM for the Job!

Seriously...are any HR Pro's reading this? All we're asking for is a little kindness and respect...as Job-seekers, we spend hours upon hours pressing clothes to wear, re-writing our Resumes to fit Job Descriptions, role-playing with ourselves about what to say/what not to say...and for all of that, we barely get a definitive "when" we'll be followed-up upon, if that at all....

I gave up on applying and going with a temp agency to get  a job. no ones hiring still lol.

Times arr very tough and I know a lot of people who have given up trying to get a job because the younger generation normally have degrees and get picked way before a older person without anything.

I currently don't have a job as I'm still studying. Although I earn enough money with BTC, I'm still looking for a more stable way of earning.

i wish. still slaving away here, waiting for my bitcoin ship to come in....

When BTC hit 1000$ some were able to retire but probably only about a few hundreds bitcoiners

I've been full time bitcoin since 2010 sadly doing so I wasn't able to really do the long term buy & hodl but I can look back and say at one point I held 2.8m usd in btc which is still cool.

Holy crap! That's super cool although it would be cooler if you were holding that now.

He might still be holding the same amount of BTC because that would have been when bitcoin was $1300 or something.

I still hold I played it semi smart I suppose and always put back 10% of my bitcoin earnings into cold storage since 2010. I didn't sell all my BTC at once either more or less I sold them on a monthly basis to of course pay my monthly bills.

Unfortunately, I didn't buy in when I heard about bitcoin in 2010. So, not yet. :D But if we get past $10k at some point, I may be able to stop working for wages. Wouldn't that be nice.... :)

no way, got into bitcoin way too late. but if bitcoin gets to five figures, i might be able to sell a good % of my stash and go into business for myself. beats workin for the man. 8)

No, not for bitcoins, but i did it from personal reasons in the past. The last job i had was firing me so i had no chance to keep beeing there. I guess bitcoin can't make me have food on table, at least not without some hardcore investment in exchange or gambling site. But i have 0 skills in that.

Not ready yet, still looking for stable income from bitcoin.
