As quite a few of you know I got hacked, and they stole all the money I needed for my wedding honeymoon in 3 weeks.
After a rather disastrous year or so for Noella & I,  I am hoping to come out the other end of this.

I hope that everyone can get the items they are missing from their much-loved collections, or sponsor these items to stay within the museum - in that if the museum is ever disbanded then the item will be shipped to you - this is a rather large collection and it was a very long discussion to come to the decision to separate it

A museum that sells donated items to pay for it's curator's losses might have issues getting donations in the future.   :-\

Donated items aren't getting sold off for this very reason.  Unless I accidentally left something on the list (which is entirely possible, I've been a tad frazzled by all this  :-\)
Also a reason why the museum isn't ending. People donated to TheBitcoinMuseum. Their stuff will be in a proper physical museum one day. I swear on my unborn child this to be true.

I believe I sent these to you funded. I do not believe that I ever sent a coin prior to march 1st, 2014 that was unfunded and stayed that way. All of my coins eventually got funded.

The mining hardware should all work like new, BUT the main idea of this is to be a historical museum, so the mining hardware is dated and likely more or less worthless for mining today. Dob is very well trusted and respected, so there would likely be no escrow option due to the circumstances and needing the money asap..

I'm just now seeing this, it makes me sad that your Bitcoin museum has to be parted out and sold, you 2 amassed quite a collection and it would definitely be more valuable and historical in the future.

Don't have really any fiat Or BTC right now though unfortunately... not until 2 projects I'm working on take off. If I Was well off though and had it to give, I would just straight up sponsor the whole museum so you wouldn't have to sell it off.

If it was just the honeymoon you needed the money for, personally I would just keep 90% of the rare items and make the best of a stay-at-home honeymoon. I definitely don't mean Any disrespect from that comment, and I understand many people would not be the same way about the honeymoon.

If it works out, I hope people don't get mad I ruined their chance at a good deal, but rather see the value of a collection like this staying all in 1 spot.

As much as I would like to buy more stuff for a decent price I think it is best to have this museum.

My thoughts exactly. If I were Dob Id sell off the doubles/multiples in order to raise the needed money/expand the collections. If the museum survives, i think it will also draw more donations of items in the future.

I thought they were in pretty decent condition.  The only marking I could see on the 2012 coin is a genuine Casascius fingerprint!

I believe that all events has a up side and a down side.
I your case where you got hacked, the up side might very well be that the museum as got a lot of publicity.
This is very important since the community had many new members over the last year.
Personally, I have recognized the Museum, but not given it much attention.
Only when the items went for "sale" did I realize the importance of the museum.
Hope that you will continue to expand the Museum.

Many of us bidders (me included) may feel disapointed in the missed opportunity of building collections, especially since the auction has been ongoing for a long time. That said, I'm sure everyone can agree that it is best for the community that this museum remains. I believe it will become much more respected now, that we have all gotten acquainted with Dob & Noella. I for one look forward to working with the museum in the future!
