Title: Need 0.41 BTC I'm in a bad bind, please help!
Post by: jeremyhalifax88 on July 14, 2014, 12:42:04 PM
Hi, I know I'm a JR Member and I don't have much collateral. I recently got scammed by Latium and I sold off all my BTC / Alt coins so I could pay off some personal loans.

I'm a 26 year old Electrical apprentice from Halifax, NS and times are rough.. I've got bills to pay and awaiting a payment from the Military which I should receive in the next two weeks(recently released from the military).
I need 0.41 BTC and I'll pay back 0.50BTC within 10 days or sooner.
For collateral I have two facebook groups with a total of 4000 real members, and I have a microworkers account with $32 on it, Cpagrip with 81 referrals that make about $0.30 a day(lol).
I know I don't have much but its worth the try!

BTC Address: 1LHh9UWSvHMwWDEapCg71T6H2Q1jbe5hcK

I'll take whatever kind of coin you want to give me, BTC or ALT or whatever.

Anything will help! Will give 25%+ Interest.

Thank-you!

rarkenin: 0.10 BTC Loaned -Thank-you

I was about to call you scammer, instead I'll just call you "misguided".

You will not get a loan here without collateral, even worse if you are looking needy. Just call your creditors and explain the situation.

Yeah, my collateral sucks.. I'm desperate and just in need. I can prove that I just released out of the military as a naval electrician if that'll help. I'm not here to screw someone over...
Sorry.

don't you have any friends or family or can throw you a bone since you're 100% gtd to receive a payment from the military?

Borrow from family or friends.

Stop asking for a loan on here without collateral.

Do you have any items of value? Gold? Latest smart phone, tablets, etc?

Any valuable things? Those can be used as physical collateral.

I have my shitty desktop computer but I use it to do everything online..
Could I send it to someone here?

Is it the same value of the loan?

Shipping of the computer back and forth will be worth more than the loan.

Since I'm Canadian, yeah it'll cost a fortune to ship I guess.

monbux is in Canada, and he does escrow. How much is your computer worth?

$50 max, lol. It'd cost $100+ to ship..
I guess I'm shit out of luck, thanks anyways for the help.

Tell me the specs, and I can tell you around how much it would be worth.
What city in Canada are you in?

(I know that's a shit barebone, and how much it'll cost to ship. Just wanted to know.)

I would consider this with photographic proof of your situation, and even then, if I can't accept it, it could still help you--any and all documentation and/or pictures should have a handwritten piece of paper with "jeremyhalifax88" visible in the image. Avoid redacting if possible.

I currently can't lend 0.3, but I can pick up one-third of this, which could help pay your most essential bills.

I would suggest making an itemized listing of expenses that you need to get squared away urgently, so that people know what the money is going to, and understand just what amounts are urgently needed. It could help attract other potential lenders.

My first reaction was to help you, but I don't have a lot of faith in these kind of transactions.
I'm almost certain you're in a desperate spot.  But, bringing a loan into your life, when desperation is visiting, is rarely a blessing.

I'm going to send you 0.01 BTC, but I'm just giving it to you.  I know it doesn't help you the whole way, but I was going to just give it away through a silly game anyway on Monday, and I think you have more use for it.

I apologize that I couldn't convince the other part of my brain to go the whole way.  But I feel for you, and I wish you the best.

On a similar note, I can't afford to give away the .1 I sent, but I am willing to extend it if needed, and not take interest. Just let me know if you need to extend the time.

Jeremy, have you considered any of the online BTC lending websites? They have the functionality to verify who you are and to provide a formal system for repayment. There are many individuals that want to support the armed forces but we have seen to much fraud to act without 100% certainty.

I definitely looked into it and a couple of them do actual credit checks, I do have bad credit and I've been applying for btcjam.. no luck so far.
I'm trying my best and this is a last resort for me, I wish I was american so I could donate blood/sperm for $$$. I just got myself in a "jam".

I hope to god your not a scammer cause, for the people who really need help will get ruined by this.  I pray you are not a scammer and you do fulfill what you need to do, I will donate something later please let us know how much you have now.  What about a picture with you and ur kids so we can see thats really you and a paper saying thank you to the bitcointalk members

I'm definitely not trying to scam people, I'm really ashamed that I have to steep so low as to beg. I also hate taking pictures of myself and I'm definitely not anon.

Thank you again and you won't be forgotten.

I've also announced our help to support you in the BTCD thread so our miners knows they're all helping you ;) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=684090.msg7875189#msg7875189

I hope again to not be wrong :)

Keep it up!

About Latium, also I worked for them as promoter but also me felt like scammed, as i got no payments from them and many referrals were faked by their system.

I also got a PM, you shouldn't be spamming a bunch of users, that doesn't look good, and two you can get banned for account spamming.
Just stick to a bitcointalk thread, and don't private PM everyone.

Eventually you'll hit the wrong person, and he'll click the report account button. Every time you send a PM off, you are taking a gamble. Don't risk it anymore.

PM as below.

Hi, Yes this is a desperate attempt and please don't report me?
I'm a former canadian military member who just released and is going through hard times, you can check my proof here...
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=694176.0

I'm looking for any kind of help, any amount of bitcoin or any Alt coins.. I will post your name on my thread and I will give you a Trust review.
Thank-you regardless!

-Jeremy

Look ^ I'm going to be kicked out of my apartment tomorrow. Sorry If I bothered you.. I'll keep to myself then, sorry for asking for help and thanks anyways everyone.
I will pay you all back once I get my money.

0.02475 BTC sent to 1LHh9UWSvHMwWDEapCg71T6H2Q1jbe5hcK

Here's a little donation on your way.

Just stick to the bitcointalk thread,

Stop pming random people as you will hit the wrong person and you will be banned, I am just warning you.
I am not against you or anything, but I am warning you someone will eventually report you.

If your banned, you won't get any more help. If you want to optimize it to the maximum potential for help.
Then stick to a bitcointalk thread.

This is not a good idea - take it down asap, it wont help you get a loan here and it might get you screwed. Get those pictures down before smdy downloads them

Well quoting the pictures is kinda bad then.

No need to feel sorry it was just a heads up, if you'll send it to every other member on this forum you'll eventually end up loosing your account , btw you were initially asking for a 0.3BTC load now it says 0.41btc .? what happened btc is still floating around 610$-620$ where you initially started this thread.

Its due on Monday of next week butthats why I said I need it by tomorrow.
:(

I noticed you ignored my very reasonable request for you to post the eviction notice.  My personal reservation is it feels too much like you are just trying to get your $300 back that you gambled away on the pyramid scheme you bought into.

:(

I noticed you ignored my very reasonable request for you to post the eviction notice.
I got it via registered mail and I handed back to my landlord saying I'll pay it. I will get the notice tomorrow morning and take a picture.

Thanks, and some proof that you are getting money in 10 days would be nice too.  Otherwise, be straight up and just ask for a donation, because if you're broke now, you will still be broke in 10 days.  I've been down on my luck before, and money problems are among the worst problems (I would say right behind health problems), but debt is no picnic either, and I suspect the unsecured Internet creditors would be first on the list to get shafted if you are short in 10 days.

I am not sure you are even going to have time to trade your cash for bitcoins.  You have to deposit your check, which takes a bit to clear, and then 4 business days minimum from Coinbase.  I do not see repayment happening in 10 days to be honest, just due to transaction times.

I received the PM, a few mins ago. My immediate reaction was "oh nice scam", seriously PMs make you look terrible. I also dont feel comfortable with your raising the amount. However that being said, reading this thread this seems somewhat legitmate but Im currently on holiday so I dont have any funds that I could send right away which means that unfortunatly Im unable to help.

today at 11:46. but isn't his loan already filled?
I guess not otherwise no point of sending PMs , initially he asked for 0.3btc and then updated to 0.41, I hope he's genuine.

Guys, this is a scam. This should be plainly obvious as he has up'd the ante and has now resorted to spamming us with PMs.

Could or could not be a scam.

However, even he is sincere, still begging randomly to people after he achieved his original objective looks really bad.
I feel sorry for the guy if he is genuine. And sorry for the donators if he is not ;-)

Hopefully, some good people here gave you enough money to cover your expenses, so I hope you will act in a responsible way now and pay your debts to them in the future when things will get better.
And don't play will crypto-currencies if you are so desperately short on cash man, you should have other priorities.

Well, I've got to side with everyone else here on the PM issue. Sending random PMs was definitely not the way to go, but hopefully the donations and loans coming in are helping you. That being said, I recommend that you stick with this new account and try to stay within the rules, so eventually you could use it to facilitate more transactions.

Thanks for everyone who gifted me BTC and I will pay back with interest the .1btc loan I got once I get some monies transfered.

I don't think this thread should be deleted but should be left as a reminder to other beggars why most of us won't give to these people, if you need help, go to a legitimate charity, don't go panhandling on the internet because it's no better than doing it in real life.

People like to defend this and claim it's only a select few people but the fact is it's a real problem and they're preying on other peoples' generosity.

Why did people send him funds ? I am curious how he convinced  you guys he was genuine ?
it really did not take much did it.. an then when people started send him money he decided he needed more ?

that is just going to make scammers or people in his 'situation' come here more often.. its like when you feed the pidgeons.. and a huge swarm of them come in.... and you can never get rid of them..

did he pay the original guy the 0.1 back ????

I believe there was much more proof with pictures/dated messages, even a picture of himself holding up dated messages, which I would assume were deleted. I didn't look too closely at the images for validity myself but it seemed more legit than most scams to me until I saw the PMs being posted but I can understand why someone would have had a soft heart.

He still has a chance to make good on his promises.

Very sage.

Until now, I really didn't get how much harm could be done by participating.
I figured, if it's not legit, it's on them.  My intentions were pure.

But, in reality, when you enable one scammer, they become 20 scammers.
Then, everyone has a sob story.  And there is no good way to differentiate between people who need help and those who are scammers.

So, F it.  No more blind bitcoin philanthropy.
Need to pay your rent, go deliver some pizzas.
He spent so much time and effort panhandling here, he could have done enough in the real world that would have earned him the couple hundred dollars he needed.
If it's one thing we need in Bitcoin, it's less scammers, not more.

Yay, hopefully you will stick to what you said.
Bloody people here in Australia claim their are no jobs or immigrants are stealing them. It is such BS. Immigrants do them because the locals do not want to.
When I was 18 I worked in a car wash until I started my proper career shortly after.

But yeah giving donations is just enabling.
Why not give some junkies some heroin, jam the syringe right in their arm for them :p

And yeah I honestly believe it is like feeding the pidgeons as I said earlier. You feed one, the others will never leave you alone.
The guy had an internet connection and a PC.. some one had obviously paid for that. Let him borrow money off them.

Wow is this really happening, this guy was sending PM's to random members and its quite obvious that most of them must have reported it , and it appeared like he's not bothered about it as long as people sending him BTC.
Fortunately most of the members sent him donation and not loans. so they knew that its not coming back.

Such a huge amount of effort went into this scam I don't understand why people don't focus their energy on providing value to other people instead of trying to dupe others.

Well I've just been revisiting the lending subforum lately and it really seems like 80%+ are scams and some rather elaborate at that, perhaps if you have many going at once it's 'worth it'?
