Title: [PROOF] Altcoin Scam
Post by: sr.machado on July 17, 2014, 05:10:34 PM
Hey there, as I said, I came here to fulfill a promise to prove that CoffeeCoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=684675.0) and Spaetacus  Coin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=691134.0) are SCAM and NINJA!

1st: I make the proof with images;
2nd: My computed is very slow, so I waste 5 hours of my time coding and searching data to proof!
3rd: If you want to donate to me some mBTC: 1Nz8kcPrUYVcqdqUBWVcbqMg6SdbkeuPsE
4th: If you want that I search on your coin, I can make this, for FREE you will receive my SEAL! (Community ask for this on PM)
If I find a NINJA, HIDE PREMINE You will receive this SEAL:

Did you analyse the first CoffeeCoin source, or the CoffeeCoin V2 source? The second CoffeeCoin was coded by the orange coin dev, and the first was coded by a cowboy. The current person in charge of CoffeeCoin had a nightmare sorting out the mess the previous dev left behind. I hope you analysed the first CoffeeCoin source because I recently brought some of the V2 CoffeeCoins.

Think he is talking about [COF] not [CFC2].

I'm relieved to hear that. I knew the original COF was useless, but the CFC2 wallet seems to work OK and I'm hoping they go up in price now the previous devs mess has been fixed.

Obligatory request on behalf of all proto-coders:

Where can I begin to learn how to comprehend all the disciplinces of the cryptofields with only a basic 101 understanding of programming?

(Personally, I've only coded with javascript...)?

Basically, if I want to dive deeper into the code of crypto... where do I begin "khan academy" style?
C++?

Guys, I've compiled this SHITCOIN to developer and my friend request a low level sniff on this code and I find this! So, It's scam and I'm asking for a fee to find new scams because the Developers can need a seal that is a good choice to invest!

Well done OP! We can't be sure scam coins were mined, but it is certainly possible! and dev can also hide the coins from a block explorer. So, all alts can do this?

Yes, if the developer want to do he can do, but can find for developers that have access to source-code!

Title: Re: [PROOF] Altcoin Scam
Post by: dreamwatcher on July 17, 2014, 09:20:52 PM
Well,

Not that I support scam coins, and not stating an opinion about the coins is question, but the OP is wrong about a few things in terms of code and explorers.

For now, lets just start with the the line he claims hides the subsidy amount of a block , does nothing of the sort.

Code:
if (fDebug && GetBoolArg("-printcreation"))

This line is saying: If the Debug flag is true and the parameter "printcreation" is true:

The Debug flag is turned on with a parameter when first starting the coin daemon/client. "printcreation" is a specific parameter to print out the block creation info in the debug log.

If both these conditions are not true, the next line that "hides" the subsidy does not execute and does nothing.

However, the debug print statement does nothing of the sort.
Code:
printf("GetProofOfWorkReward(): create =%s nSubsidy=%"PRId64"\n", FormatMoney(nSubsidy).c_str(), nSubsidy);

The printf statement is simply that, print(in this case to the debug log).

"GetProofOfWorkReward(): create =%s nSubsidy=%"PRId64"\n"

Means the literal words:  GetProofOfWorkReward(): create =

The %s means the first string argument declared after the quotes, in this case : FormatMoney(nSubsidy).c_str(),

The c.str() simply means to cast nSubisidy as a string instead of the numeric type that it is. This does not change the value or anything of the sort, only returns it as a different type.

%"PRId64" simply means to expect a 64 bit number, instead of a string.

What all this means is that Create= will show a nice formatted representation of subsidy and nSubsidy=%"PRId64 will show the raw number.

nSubisdy is declared in the above code and is not changed in these lines, so it will print to the debug log the correct number.

Now the Block explorers.

There is something wrong with the explorer  or the setup of the explorer you are using.

If you do any research on me, you will discover that using and writing block explorers is one of the major projects I have done here for a few years.

I have used, modified and ran explorers based an ABE. Most recently I have written a completely new block explorer system from scratch and my block explorer service is based on the new system.

www.cryptocoinexplorer.com

Now, I will admit that I do not have any experience with so called "Block Crawlers", which are not really block explorers in my opinion as they do not create and maintain a database separate from the coin daemon.

However, I highly doubt they are using the "Debug output" to get their information. If they are, that is not good at all.

If you want to prove the daemon is "lying" try this:

issue this command:
Code:
getblockhash 1

Assuming the block in question is block 1. Use whatever block you question.

then:

Code:
getblock {Block hash from step one}

That is the information my explorer system uses and to a degree ABE will use (Though Abe will also use the blk.dat file to try and extract information)

Now, before you decide to go off on some crazy rant, I suggest you look a bit into who I am and my reputation around here, you might just find I know what I am talking about.  :)

Since you know javascript, you might want to take a look at
http://bitcoinjs.org/

But honestly C++,  is pretty much a must for
an aspiring crypto dev.

It also takes a while to understand how the protocol
works. For that, here is a classic thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=41722.0

plus the documentation
https://bitcoin.org/en/developer-documentation

hope that helps.

Thanks OP need more like you to keep this place honest, it was also in poor taste that the scam dev borrowed the name of an already existing coin that has a very decent and honest hard working dev. Hope people don't confuse this scammers work with that of the original coffeecoin now renamed coffeecoin V2 cfc2.

You should rename the thread into something along the lines of "Cryptodetective for hire".

holy fucking shit - well done - we all owe you in fact.

now i know what that tard Nithor was talking about re an "attack" this is in effect able to manipulate the block explorer to make the numbers "see" different.

Title: Re: [PROOF] Altcoin Scam
Post by: digitalindustry on July 18, 2014, 07:57:31 PM
obviously if a 51% attack in effect lets an attacker "rewrite history"

then the obvious question is ....

are there millions more Bitcoin than there should out there right now?

for that matter many currencies , and my other question what effect would checkpoints have in event of a successful attack obviously i'm talking about Quark.

we have dynamic checkpoints around ever 10 blocks.

you deserve donations from the whole crypto community -  we have projects coming up and are keen to help you help the crypto community.

this is why i love this community scam artist cunts (and other associated)* will only get away with so much for so long.

* actually nothing would move forward without you so we are like a little symbiosis are we?

I always knew answers would come from this forum - the crickets where chirping back at the "Bitcoin Foundation" camp - and there is a total void of focus on anything technical (post takeover) its like a cliff you can stare at.

this is why i have always supported the torrent of shit & "junk DNA" that is thrown out onto this forum, because sifting though all that shit will be found little gems like this.

and in effect that spam speeds up this process.

that is the open source system way, we all owe this guy, and we should give what we can.

or use common sense ?
..ALL of these stupid pyramid schemes coins have an advantage exploited by so called "devs"

i have watched so many different ways i have lost count..

modding the source code is simply ONE way of doing it and it's the easy way too !
it takes more skill to exploit an unfair advantage with out using code advantages / exploits.

clearing the code alone is nothing but a small piece of the puzzle in determining if a coin is legit.
and i even pointed this out by quoting the OP from another topic..
this OP here considers himself to be a little guru of IPO's and they are scams.

it's a scammers fight going on for ages.. they have been battling each other for a long time
and it's only going to get worse i predicted long ago..
as these guys destroy the scene they go at each others throats for the dwindling amount of remaining suckers willing to buy their clone coins..

this guy wants to prop up his own shitty coins using a different "advantage" and make others competing look bad.
and he wants to make money of you guys doing it and come off like a hero..

take my money right ?

i should write a book titled. "Making money for dummies" - "How to Github for fast cash"

point is he aptly demonstrated a vector where the units amount can be made to appear as one thing when it is in fact different.

call that what you want : an "output" a "problem with the explorer" - i call it " an attack vector" -

and with the serious lack of education in the general market place i'd say its a very serious matter if you take into account the FACT that a 51% attacker can achieve a similar result.

i donated no worries happy to do it - this has brought massive attention to this issue, there may well be other little gems hiding in the client code, this encourages analytical development , this use to be done by the Bitcoin core developers , but they are probably too occupied with building ASICs maybe to worry about a silly thing like the security of the cryptocurrency ?

TL;DR

this is an attack vector the currency is unimportant, if you had of shown this i would have contributed to you.

It will lead to more attention to analyzing the code, and maybe there a other little gems hiding in there?

Don't worry about the negative people. Bravo for doing a great service for cryptocurrency, as well as for the miners! Keep up the good work!

Much respect... I'm currently without means to give you a donation, but as soon as I can - I will. Do not doubt that.   ;)

Worried? No, anyone with half a brain knows its pretty much a small group of people cloning shit day in and day out, and yet people still mine the garbage. You figure, you make even a few BTC off the coin as a dev, do that a few times a week, you make more than most in a few days than many people do in a month.

I used to be a huge supporter of alts, but that was when we might see a few a week and they actually tried to bring something new, now its just the same bullshit

sr.machado, damn good job. Gone are the days where checking the block crawlers for premines/instamines. If the premines can now be CLOAKED this calls for serious scrutiny over every new altcoin. Nobody can be sure anymore.

Also, I think Spoetnik's ego makes him write questionable responses. Don't let him bring you down.

Finally, there is something to be said about the moment you realize you just uncovered something amazing and you become so confident you make silly photoshop images of yourself during the reveal.

i asked a FAIR question(s) of him.. and that was stated earlier. (not gonna go through it all again / learn to read)

you guys can't read, i swear your far more intent on reading in between the lines and trying read my "tone"
than what i actually said word for word.

and he's not worried about me in the slightest because he obviously has nothing to be worried about LOL
funny enough i bet he understood why i grilled him early when you didn't..

and i stand by my assertion.. your all mostly idiots at Bitcointalk.
it's like taking candy from a baby.. you guys are the worlds most gullible people on the whole internet, fact !

before verifying his info here you guys were on your knee's sucking his cock like idiots.
and unlike you all, i gave him the third degree and ask him question(s) FIRST ....then i will get on my knee's and blow em lol

sorry but many of you wandering around being nice guys are scammer food and you broke already ..you just don't know it yet.
no matter what is posted here there is instantly butt kissers on their knee's.
even on wallet virus's i have seen posted here.. you guys were too busy being first in line to kiss ass.

i see a huge amount of guys in crypto being grinning idiots with a loose grip on their cash.
faaaaar to eager to blow every guy that comes along for any dumb ass butt kissing reason..
and look WHERE you are.. ALT coin SCAM CENTRAL ::)

You think i am the bad guy when i was verifying this guys claims ?
they your the gullible idiot  ::)

You missed my point entirely and HIS too..

and he demonstrated ZERO coding skills too by the way hahha
you guys are sooooo gullible here it's sad and hard to watch..

Only in Crypto would you be hoisted a legend and an allstar coder because you can look at source code and compile it with MingW LOLOLOLOLOLOL

how much Bitcoin did you guys give him already ?

And a few hours later in another thread by the same OP.

I think the OP is legit and honest.. he has my support :)

Good job verifying the code.. it's a time consuming boring pain in the ass i think.
It would take a LOT for me to go to that much trouble.. i am faaaar to lazy hahha

This topic = Spoetnik Approved
