Poker would be nice, but if you want something simpler, maybe a noughts and crosses game, for example, would be quite good.

:)

edit: this game is also nice: http://blockchain-reaction.com

you should hire someone to program you a game ( free to play ) and have in game purchases but the purchases can only be done with bitcoin.

I think table games such as, Snooker, Billiard, Pool and other multi-player table games, where people can put in their own BTC and play to win either against themselves or the computer.

I think chess would be an interesting option, there could be an online competition where the 1st price wins the most bitcoin, and say the 10th price the fewest.
It would be a game I'd play, it's pretty timeless.  :)

Would it be random player vs random player. I would enjoy that. Add a bunch of different games, you can't just have one game. I voted chess, I haven't seen that and it would work nicely.

Player vs player for money (costs 0.01 or something to play) would be cool. Winner takes all, loser gets nothing. Computer would be extremely hard and time consuming because you would have to program algorithms.

Yes, I have played air hockey but not on the computer. Also, I don't think chess is a very good option, I would personally not play chess online for BTCtc, simply because I can't be sure whether the person I am playing against is using a computer engine such as rybka etc.

Chess, Checker, Battle Ships.

Stuff like that, that can be played as a two player game. With the option for the players to set up a game with a stake from both that the winner takes away. I personally would love Battle Ships, because I know a pretty little search pattern for it that can perform better than most random searching.

Yeah thats good idea.but i don't have much funds to make a checker. website.
In which users plays with each other by depositing btc.Like player A deposit 0.01btc and player B deposit 0.01 btc. Then winner of the game will get 0.02 btc .

Its much expensive startup.

Now if you could implement a realistic air-hockey HTML5 game I think I would be willing to throw a few satoshi's behind putting my mousing skills against another :-)

I suspect it will be a whole different thing playing with a mouse as opposed to the real puck but what the hell :-p

This is a really great idea you have and I can see it being very popular if you get the right kind of game that is popular enough and people are interested in enough.

Candy Crush is definitely one to consider, this game is enjoyable and also a very popular game and if you can work it into your website then this is one I would recommend to use. Another is poker. So many people play poker and it's a really popular game for those who enjoy playing it.

Flappy Bird is ideal however it's one of those games that is fun at first and then just gets annoying, so it may not be wise to take that route.

I think you should make them more of a 1v1 type game, I would enjoy that so much. A website where you pay 0.01 BTC (or higher or lower games) to match up against someone random, play against them, and if you win you get their bet as well, and maybe 1% is paid to the house as a fee. Chess, checkers, blackjack, rock paper scissors. I would donate 0.1 if you set that up.

Well, if he did develop flappy birds with items and things, it wouldn't be monetizable. Theres no way he could make money, just paying out a tiny amount, otherwise known as a faucet.

You may also like or consider https://www.gambit.com/ which does skill based games person 2 person. From what I understand you cannot be a US citizen nor offer US residents any sort of games of chance where wagering is involved (considered gambling in the eyes of the law)  From what I understand the games on gambit are wagered based on games of skill - even though luck is involved, a person has to wager their skill against another person.

That would be pretty cool, but flappy bird is hard to play on the web, because you have to use a space bar or click or something. Also how would the owner of the site make money off of this? Ads wouldn't generate enough if the player is good, so he would lose money.

Chess Chess and Chess  ;D

People all around the world, is playing this on a daily basis, even against each other for fiat. Why not for BTC?

Have mini tournaments with multiplayer options.

This is a great opportunity to get people into BTC - Even some scholars who play this at schools.  ;D

Before you award any BTC for a game you have to make sure there are no exploits out there - I hit like 240 on Flappy and saw some kid at 999999999 lol... GG

All pure skill games have exploits... BOTS!

If BTC is available for prize then a coder WILL make a system that:

reads the screen buffer.
performs some process.
synthesizes a keypress.

That would be a last resort attack, easier attacks would be tampering with client side code to always report a win etc.

But say you completely hardened the system it would still be impossible to secure against bot player.

I think user-vs-user skill games are your only option, then of course chess for BTC would turn into users pitting their bots against other users bots, which could be fun in its own right I suppose :D.

Yes, I think this is an important question.
Maybe it will be better if the game is without competition like just harvesting coins hidden on various game stages.

how would You call the following game, a skill game or a game of luck? lets take a roulette wheel where there is no green zero field. and instead of 18 black and red numbers we will have 18 red and 17 black numbers. now we will do a player vs player game where any of the 2 players is free to chose the 17 black numbers (with disadvantage) or the 18 red numbers (with advantage). would this be a game of luck?

thanks

I think that would be classed as a pure game of luck. Each player would place their bet on the wheel, just like in a regular casino where one player can walk up t a wheel and place a bet and then another player can place a bet, and then the wheel is spun. None, one or both players can win/lose against the house.

Provaby fair need only be employed on luck games.

A skill game does not need provably fair, the player knows if he crashed flappy bird into a wall or not. A player knows if he wins or loses, any disparity in this could not be hidden from the player.

The problem with skill games is as I said, players WOULD employ bots that would fly flappy bird perfectly every time and clean out the sites bank lickety split.

...
how would You call the following game, a skill game or a game of luck? lets take a roulette wheel where there is no green zero field. and instead of 18 black and red numbers we will have 18 red and 17 black numbers. now we will do a player vs player game where any of the 2 players is free to chose the 17 black numbers (with disadvantage) or the 18 red numbers (with advantage). would this be a game of luck?

thanks

I think that would be classed as a pure game of luck. Each player would place their bet on the wheel, just like in a regular casino where one player can walk up t a wheel and place a bet and then another player can place a bet, and then the wheel is spun. None, one or both players can win/lose against the house.

thanks for the answer, but it looks that I didnt explain it clear enough. it would be a player vs player game and no house involved.
so each player can decide to bet on red with 18 numbers and has the advantage over black with 17 numbers. but sure thing that he can chose to bet on black (17 numbers).  I would call it mental skill if one understands the advantage of red (18 numbers).

I hope I made the point clear now.

Giving out bitcoin prizes for skill games, how will you stop people coding bots that just win all the time?

Yes, I think this is an important question.
Maybe it will be better if the game is without competition like just harvesting coins hidden on various game stages.

Provably Fair option would solve the problem. or what did I miss here?

Provaby fair need only be employed on luck games.

The problem with skill games is as I said, players WOULD employ bots that would fly flappy bird perfectly every time and clean out the sites bank lickety split.

so involving bots means that it is not a fair skill game anymore. in this case I would prefer a Provably Fair game of luck with a 50/50% chance and no house involved

Yes, player-vs-player skill games where you charge a fee to play are the only path you could take for USA hosted site.

So like 2 player each bet 0.001 BTC, the site take say 1% of that (0.00001 BTC) and then the players slug it out, the winner taking 0.00199 BTC.

I think the whole gamespace would end up being dominated by rainman type people with ungodly game skillz, and of course bots, a few normal folk bumbling through now and then only to be pwned.

Provably fair is not needed on skill games.

In fact provably fair could not be employed for skill games.

Provably fair requires a fully deterministic game.

Provably fair is basically just:

[1]Server decides on heads/tails outcome of coinflip
[2]Server discloses the outcome (encrypted) to user.
[3]User guesses heads or tails.
[4]Server flips the coin for the User.
[5]User wins or loses, and is also told how to decrypt[2] if they want proof of fairness.

With skill, the outcome depends on the users skill, the server has no way of knowing the outcome.

Not if you allow users to play them over the internet, if a human can look at the screen and push a button or two, so can a bot.

Even with locked out hardware/software (which you cant do anyway) it would be possible to make a bot play: bot looks at screen with camera and controls solenoids that push game controls.

Bitcoin attracts hackers, resistance is futile!

Yes that would help a little, any bot would then need a human supervisor standing by to solve captcha.

Also periodic captcha would upset game flow for honest players.

I think chess is one of the few skill games where human players could actually beat the bots.

I do not play chess very well myself, but I have seen youtube vids where good players talk about beating bots using traps etc.

good luck!

No honest player should play this game if he does not wants to loose his BTC.

For others , simple strategy [Summary: We will play two chess games simultaneously: one on the proposed website Vs human opponent and other a chess program on the system Vs Computer. Then simply copy moves from one game to other]:
Step 1: Download any chess game on your computer.
Step 2: Start a chess game on the website[The proposed game website] against any user.
Step 3: Start the chess game on your system against computer and set it to hardest level.
Step 4: If you are going first on the website game, let the computer go first in your system game and vice versa.
Step 5: Copy the computers move to the website game and your opponents move to the system game.
Step 6: You WIN.

I would donate 0.1 if you set that up.

agree with that.
1vs1 will be great and fun way to use and double our coins

I would invest 0.1 if you promised a return. I guess more of like a loan, so if I sent the 0.1, you would pay me 0.11 back.
There is also many people who would loan you money, and BTCjam is a good place to do so.

Would it be random player vs random player. I would enjoy that. Add a bunch of different games, you can't just have one game. I voted chess, I haven't seen that and it would work nicely.

player vs computer

Playing anything against a computer for bitcoins sounds like a sure loss. Allow for player vs player and just take a cut on the winnings like casinos do during poker games such as Texas Hold'em.

Donating to you so that you can make Bitcoins off our donation doesn't sound right. You should either look for an investor where you provide a return on their investment, or fork out the 1 BTC yourself to have it made. You probably won't find many people giving you  1 Bitcoin on these forums, but check out BTCJam for loans and just verify as much as you can with them.

I have a project on hold: www.game4coins.com, these games utilise a 3D engine and can be played as Flash or HTML5 right in browser.

So you could create a 3D chess game that would even work in oculus rift.

Here's a 3D luck game I wrote:

http://youtu.be/80gKS8GPvkk

I'm currently working on the project in my siggy so can't offer to do the work for many months yet.

But the multiplatform 3D engine is available as a free version if anyone wants to get hacking away:

It is on hold because I have commitments to my Cortex7 subscribers, the old Cortex7 version was working with MtGox, I decided to rewrite it to work on all platforms after MtGox collapsed.

Game4Coins will probably go live in 2015, bitbot first followed by BlackJack, followed by... Chess (only joking @coinbuddy) ;D

Thanks for your great feedback.
I have selected two great i will share later.

Will wait for the announcement of those games here. ;)

That's a good idea, a mix of luck and skill, multiplayer 4 seat monopoly where the website takes say a 5% rake on each game, the winner takes the rest. Or maybe tiered winnings so everyone gets some BTC back, 1st and 2nd place making profit.

But it would be quite involved to write.
