Title: Hack generator dude must be a kid
Post by: remotemass on August 03, 2014, 07:03:07 AM
I think the dude that keeps spamming intensively youtube with hack generator videos must be a kid.
I think only a kid without much other income and plenty of time would be doing something like this.

Anyway, we must definitely stop this kid.
This is so annoying. Whenever I search bitcoin on youtube 90% of the videos are of his BS hack generators.
 :'( Argh!!!

We must unite to stop this scam.

Imagine, how many people are getting the idea that bitcoin is hackable. People already fear that the network may be hackable and not secure enough. With this BS people will get even more fear and reluctance.

This is an unacceptable denigrate for us all. We must stop it now!!!

A kid or just your typical loser amateur scammer. You'll never stop them. They'll get worse and worse.

I'm a bit annoyed by this. I'm just not even sure how people even fall for these anymore, after learning what Bitcoin is.
I guess that we just have to keep reporting his videos together.

There's always greedy fools who just want to get rich quick. They're always blinded by their own greed and unfortunately fall victim to it, but this is usually the only way they'll learn. Smart people rarely get scammed to be honest.

Wanting to get easy money is just a a part of humanity I think, but like the guy above said people just want easy money and let their guard down when they see the promise of it.

I just flagged the top 10 results for 'bitcoin generator', if you report it to youtube as scam/fraud and they should get taken down pretty quickly!!

You just flag them. Then someone from youtube/google makes sure they shall be deleted.

What do you mean things like "Working bitcoin generator 2014"? Cause things like that have been around for ages. Don't know why youtube is so lax on them though as they are clearly violating the TOS by linking viruses.

What a terrible and potentially insulting post.  Just because you think you're "smart" and haven't fallen victim to a scam doesn't mean "smart" people rarely get scammed.  You have no way to know how many people have been scammed, and you have no way to know whether or not they are "smart".  There are plenty of scams that have a lot more to do with desperation and other emotions rather than greed, and even the smartest person can be so exhausted their judgment becomes so lax that they can screw up without even giving a second thought.

Smart people rarely get scammed to be honest.

"Smart" people are especially vulnerable because their hubris is blinding them to the fact that they can be scammed. Everyone could be scammed by a professional grifter. The best you can do is be very skeptical and lower the probability of being scammed.

youtube is trying to stop it. the problem is that they sometimes take down genuine bitcoin tutorial video's too. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=718896.0

so i would not rely on youtube to 'search and destroy'. but instead if you see a generator scam, report it yourself.

Yes there is not anything more to do than report his videos. It's ironic that Youtube allows these videos but removes education Bitcoin videos  ::)

Yes, agree with this from my own experience.
specially this is true when money comes to the story :) like internet earning opportunities, different ways to earn Bitcoin...
Every day hackers and cheaters invent  new ways to SCAM people and got their money so doesn't matter how much you are smart, they can catch you :)

This one speaks wisely.

Folks, for many english-speaking people, this is the worst economy since the great depression. And the prisons are full to overflowing, the courts backed up for years in many places.

Lots of folks are out of work, desperate, with nothing left to lose. Scamming will continue to intensify as America and other first world nations slowly slip into third-world status over the course of the next two decades.

Youtube is doing a good job at taking down reported videos. These videos appear when you search under the keyword Bitcoin alone... so its not likely youtube will display a generic warning.

One thing we can do is have volunteers report the videos more, or make it a gamify the reporting where they are rewarded to taking down the videos.

That is a good idea. But how would it work. How can someone prove it is him who is putting the video down?

You could design a site that embeded a youtube frame within another site and than reward the users for taking down videos.

Who? Is he spamming YouTube? YouTube is full of kids who are just hitting their puberty. Nothing new about that. And they do like their 'hacker' scripts. Nothing new. Well, it's the beauty of Bitcoin, it can't be hacked. It's cryptography. You'd have to break the mathematics behind them. Good luck winning a milleniums-prize!

I heard somewhere that a certain division of employees at youtube have a quota of videos that they need to remove per day.   It shouldn't be too hard to get these taken down, but there will be more popping up right after.

There are fake generators for anything you can think of on there (i.e. itunes cards, probably even facebook games)

I think this is why reporting individual links has very little effect. Google uses automation to approve and take down most videos. There are just too many videos that need to be looked at for a human to look at all of the flagged videos. There are also too many ways to like/flag a video in an automated fashion that having a few "flags" will make a difference.

It seems to me like any kid or scammer with access to Visual Basic wants to make these kinds of generators. And put RAT's or keyloggers into them since that's the fad...

But hey, bitcoin IS hackable ;D

I mean, there's only 2^60 possible addresses. And about 2,554,694 addresses in use.

Guess enough addresses and you're sure to hit the right one sometime in the next hundred years.

whoever falls to that kind of scam deserved to be scammed, because they want to take advantage on other people.

But the problem is that it may cause confusion among newcomers, and be FUD fuel

Guess enough addresses and you're sure to hit the right one sometime in the next hundred years.

But if people keep the good practice of changing their coins to a new address often it becomes much harder.
It's always wise to keep our coins moving as it gets much more harder to hit a moving target.

True. On a different forum, someone was explaining bitcoin to a newcomer and explained how anonymous it was. Couldn't be traced and such. The newcomer asked how was it anonymous? And the guy posted two addresses saying "Tell me the name of who owns these addresses". It took me about a minute to find the people.

So moving bitcoins is both good to keep them protected, and good to keep yourself protected.

Yeah, there are no 'hacks' for Bitcoin. It is secured by mathematics for a reason. If there really was some kind of hack or way to manipulate the balances or transactions, people far more sophisticated would have done it before! Yeah, they just want attention here I guess. So sad!

Seen these videos myself when I have done searches on YouTube and they are really annoying especially when the majority of videos are from this guy. He is either a kid in his bedroom with nothing better to do or just a lonely guy with no life trying to scam people fro easy cash, either way he is not worth the time of day.

I think he is just someone trying to spread FUD. Nothing more then a troll. It would be very well possible that he somehow has a "short" position on bitcoin, but I would doubt even this.

This kid knows how to rank his videos. He must have use fake views and likes to make his videos on top. If we flag his videos he will only create another one with slight change. He may also using automatic video uploader and video spinner.

To counter this videos we should rank our own bitcoin videos and outrank his bs videos.

Ranking videos costs money. If you aren't making profits from it, you'll lose money. If you go into this endeavor looking to actually make a difference, you'll likely lose more money attempting to prevent these scams than the scammers actually make from the people they scam.

Nobody is losing big money here. Newbies will become more educated after wasting their time on this and either continue onwards and become an experienced user or drop out. Nothing wrong with that.
