Title: Want some FREE BTC - What would you do with 1 BTC?
Post by: bitcoinsarefun on March 28, 2012, 01:15:21 PM
I have 1 BTC to give out to the most interesting answer to that question ... I know it's not a lot, but if you have 0 right now, 1 BTC is better than nothing

Spend it in little bits and pieces as a way of showing people how Bitcoin works/boring them to death.

I would let it go towards another purchase at bitmit.com or other similar bitcoin-accepting sites.  ;)

I approve of this!

It's win-win, really. They either learn about Bitcoin, or I get their shoes.

The smallest amount you can spend is like 1x10⁻⁸ right? (0.00000001BTC) So if i were you I'd gamble with it if your into gambling because some sites if i remember take as little as 0.0001BTC i think.

Gambling with small amounts like that sounds fun, but I'd probably save it for a bigger future purchase

Buy a pack of guitar strings. You can never have too many strings. Well if there were a music store that accepted bitcoins I would.

I would save it. Either save it with one of the banks here or just for that rainy day.

If you want to exchange bitcoins for strings, I can accommodate you ...

I usually pay $3.50 for D'Addario XL packs. I think it'd be hard to come close to that in BTC unless you bought in bulk. If it could be done for 1 BTC a pack I'd be in.

Bought this for our little son at Bitmit for approx. 0.7BTC and free shipping. It's a little solar powered locust, and our toddler really loves it.

Save it on its own secure wallet on a USB and wait for the day to buy groceries with BTCs and be the first ready to do so.

3.50 retail or do you buy in bulk? I can't seem to find them anywhere for that cheap, i haven't looked that hard though

Local retail and sometimes cheaper on ebay. They make up for it with the coated strings though.

I'd buy 4 tickets on BitLotto (http://www.bitlotto.com/) where the jackpot for next week's draw is at over 120 BTC atm & with 99% of all money bet going to the winner that is excellent returns! If I then won (1 in 120ish chance atm) I'd let you know how I'll spend the prize - hopefully by next week it'll be enough for a BTF Single  ;D

but I'd only get the coin if he accepted my gambling proposition, I'm not going to make any other offer, but if he's quick (or the MM rolls over) I'd split it between BiLotto & this:

http://www.thelotter.com/TheBigList.aspx?short=1&pageId=9&DoRefresh=true

& if the gods of crypto currencies saw it assuming enough to run with I'd ask where he'd like the price to be stabilized - like for ever  ;)

& develop open source everything for BTC to be the new age's cash  :P

& while it's an enormous long shot it could still be the most important 1 BTC donation in history ever  :D

there's this bitcoin capital exchange, buy shares in bitcoin mining companies and enjoy dividends
if you don't like regular income, buy shares in companies that reinvest mining income and buy more hardware, thus you gain by selling shares at higher price (hopefully)

DUDE I GOT IT! I saw the little text at the end of that last post and was like "what is that?" copied and pasted into word and BAM! MtGox private key. Redeemed that shit. I didn't post earlier but since I've been mining for a bit and have amassed a bit of coin I think I'll donate this one. Thanks!

I'll create many different bitcoin addresses, maybe 1000, then send that 1 BTC over to those 1000 addresses, publish the list of public keys on a web page or blog or post it here, and you all can verify it through block explorer. Of course, I keep the private keys.

I have a file with 5000 bitcoin addresses I just generated for fun. I'm planning to make it my offline wallet or something.
