It is a tough decision now that all designs are up for voting and I truly like quite a few of them.

However, I will say that I vote for design #16 by Mr. Bau

My vote is for Design Twenty Six by Cranky4u

It's a pitty that it is not a finished, ultra realistic design but,

I see potential and if executed well, I think it would look awesome and people would buy it.

By far the best one is Design Nine by campycoin, so they get my vote, even though I made a design of my own I like theirs better.  The only thing I would change is that the hologram needs a window to verify the firstbits.  There's no way I would buy one of these without being able to independently verify the balance of the coin.

I'll cast my vote for Design Three by S4VV4S.  I like the White/Yellow gold contrast and the design is very clean.  :)

If I may, one thing most people are likely not thinking about is that even with a reasonably simple design, minting a coin with that design can have issues.  I was even afraid my design would be too complex, but there are several others that have WAY more stuff in them.  For example, Mr.Baus gear design in my opinion looks AWESOME, but I don't think there is any way that can realistically be a coin.  Certainly not with that amount of detail.

And Coinographic would you mind removing my original submission (Design 22) and just leave my updated submission (Design 4) available for voting? I'm not sure if it was an oversight, but I want this voting process to be as fair as possible.

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

I chose this coin because I think people will choose to buy it. It looks great, has a clean cut design and the people that I have met that collect these coins would gladly add this coin to their collection.

Favorite design is number 16 by Mr Bau!

Most of the coins are really good, don't really understand campycoin's design though, looks more like an app icon than a physical coin.

I see it more like a thick, 2-ounce gold bar, kinda like this:

http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/imagenes_sociopol/sion43_19a.jpg

Very substantial piece of gold in your hands, with the hologram on the back.

Design 15 is far and away the best.  A lot of thought.  I like the upside down pyramid and more.  Plus the box looks like it includes a free vape pen

Thanks!  That is exactly what we were going for.  It had to be .9999 Solid Gold so we knew we could not have color and "white gold" contrasting with yellow gold. I wanted it to be different...  I see coins all over the place and they are very nice but for something that was only going to be limited to 100, I wanted it to be simple but clearly show it's value.  Appreciate your kind words...  If I knew they were going to want a round coin, I certainly wouldn't have gone so far outside the box.

Its really clean and I love the colourful back of the coin.

May I just say I've been involved in both BTC and FTC for over a year and for anyone to
question my reasoning for voting just because I'm a member of a different forum is frankly
discrimination. I made my decision based on merit which was not easy as there are a lot of great designs.

Here's why I think design 9 needs to win.  Today most people think of coins the same way they think of government fiat, as in the only reason the coin is valuable is because the government says so.  We all know the whole purpose of bitcoin was to get away from government fiat money.  When it comes to physical bitcoins and other cryptos, minting them with gold and silver ties them to precious metals as a sort of "digital bullion".  With a precious metal coin, the link is made between the two.  Even with this though, still many people think of coins as just another form of government money.  Campycoin's design takes the next step, because it's solid gold bullion, not as much a coin.  Think about how cool it would be to hold two ounces of solid gold bullion in your hand, coupled with the 5 BTC in the gold as well, and this would be the highest form of physical and digital bullion ever coupled together.

You think LitcoinCollector, not Mr. Bau's design,i'm right? It's just only the number 5,damn it!

So much drama,about this!  :P

Oh shut up.
I said Mr. Bau's design which is exactly what the basis of your thief friend design is based on.
And you are not doing him any favors.
You are just supporting a thief and making him think he is a good designer when the truth is he is nothing but a copy.
Nothing else.

I see only the round hologram is same, nothing else and few other have same, too.

What you just said goes to prove that you guys vote blindly just coz you were asked to.
I rest my case.

I vote for Design one by bit0

I believe it's simple enough, yet communicating the notion of Grandeur for an economy by the masses. I.e. no conspiracy money emission schemes, great concept that of the Bitcoin 'Block'  giving rise to columns or escher-like beams for a multidimensional economy. The few and appropriately scattered elements near the circumference personally make me think of the intriguing math properties that make cryptography possible. Think of a roundly shaped maze.

So much quality in all designs, my very own opinion is that while specific elements referring to either mining or electronics, while fascinating and of great insight on history, may not be aspiring to a universal, time invariant notion, as, you know, information processing in the future might be quite different (no microchips but something way different) and I would like this coin to be as present-looking as ever, reminding just of the embedded the infinite sign in some of the designs.

Iagow and elianite should have been disqualified! Elianite because he paid somebody to photoshop his coin and he told friends to come and vote for his design (which isn't really his because somebody else did the work).
And iagow because his design is stolen and he has the whole croatian mafia voting for him.

It is funny that these 2 scammers where in the top 5. Why do I have the feeling that coinographic is in on this.
This voting system is a joke and can not be taken seriously. This is not thw community speaking, this is the croatian mafia amd the paid votes from elianite.

I dont believe that is grounds for disqualification or in any way against the spirit of this contest.

- It is correct that after submitting an identical hand-drawn coin early in the contest which I made, I had someone (on r/jobs4bitcoin) put it into a digital format so that I can better communicate my vision. The design is 100% mine; I simply had someone with the correct skills digitize it because that is not something I am skilled in. I even asked some of the other designers if they were willing to help me out.
- I have messaged some people whom I have previously done business with regarding physical coins. I think that is appropriate, since those are the people whom would be most interested in this contest. I have been very open in saying that they can vote for whomever they desire, including mine if they find it to be the best.
- I have absolutely not offered to pay or reward anyone in any way for their vote.

As you may know, I have written a book about Casascius coins and have an untarnished reputation here which I take seriously. I stand by my actions which I believe to be fully ethical, and will answer the community to any challenges which are grounded on fact. I have nothing to hide here.

P.s. I really like your coin Chemist-for-hire; I admit I was surprised it was not in the original 5 finalists :)

I was told of this contest by fellow physical crypto collector elianite. There was nothing promised nor offered, only a request that I come here to take part in voting for the best design for the next physical crypto coin.

It was a tough choice between #10 and #12 because I felt both design reflects the gold+bitcoin theme very well. I went over all the designs a few times and concluded that I would buy a coin like the one designed by elianite.

Just choose the designs yourself.

How would you do this if you can't design anything in photoshop?

1)   They agree to work with us after the voting is complete until the final coin design is produced, no matter the amount of time this takes.  This includes the front & Rear of the coin as well as the hologram and packaging

The important thing of-course is communicating with Coinographic about the vision and design; I asked him early on if a hand drawn coin was acceptable and it was; i just had it replicated via Photoshop so that it is easier for voters to understand the design. This is a concept / design contest, great Photoshop skills aren't mandatory. I am of-course willing to work with Coinographic to get the final design should my concept win :)

Votes only for people begging, asking and paying for them, from 28 designs only this 3 people get most voted, very legit voting.

I will be voting for # 9 by campycoin. Worldtreasurefinders made a very good case for this design and I tend to agree with him.  I enjoy the designs simplicity & lack of fluff.  Often, the most exquisite things in life are are ruined by adding complexity.  This design makes the link to luxury by association of gold bars and also would be unique to your company (uniqueness seemed to be an important criteria to the contest).  I don't think any of your competitors have done something like this.  With the simplicity, you shouldn't have any issues getting it minted either. Also... on a nerdy note it makes me think of bars of latinum from Star Trek. The real "precious" part is the latinum(bitcoin in our case;P) located inside of the bar. That's just me being goofy though! :P

Like many others, I really enjoyed Mr. Bau's design and it was tough not to pick it.  I liked his concept of the bitcoin symbol being created out of multiple gears working together to maintain the network (all pieces working together for a common goal).  At least that's how I interpretated it.  I thought it flowed together quite well. Ultimately, I was  worried about the design losing too much detail in the minting process and so opted for campy's less is more theme.  I also saw more of a connection to luxury with campy's design.

If I may, I'd like to make a few suggestions to Coinographic if they intend to do more design competitions as I see a lot of drama here.  I would completely take voting out of the equation.  I think it's great getting the community involved with your design, but you don't really need voting to do that.  Secondly, when you're deciding on the top five designs, really take your time to pick them.  At least sleep on it, having fresh eyes is always helpful.  I don't think a scale from 1 - 10 is a good enough evaluation either.  Write down specifically what you do or don't like about the concepts.  If you don't already, have a designer help you with this process.  Once you have your top 5, post the reasons for choosing the winners. If people understand why you made your choices, they'll be less likely to think you just picked at random.  You can then ask the community for feedback on the top 5 designs, but your company ultimately chooses the final design. This way you'll avoid all this, "I vote for #so&so", without any relevant feedback as to why they feel that way. I imagine you'd prefer quality, not quantity.

Lastly, I'd like to thank Coinographic for putting on this competition despite the hiccups.  I had a lot of fun participating. Thanks! :)

I think everyone should cut iawgoM some slack.
Its become a full on witch hunt with talk of Mafia and being in Cahoot's with coinographic.

Its all pretty ridiculous.

He is a graphic designer by trade and has submitted numerous designs to many different competitions. Whether you like his design or not is purely subjective and just a matter of opinion.

One of the reasons I went looking for a different community last April when I first got into crypto was the hostility on this forum. People don't treat each other with respect and the way noobs are treated with contempt and ridiculed for asking questions everyone needs to answer is  disgusting.

All iawgoM has done is let some others know that there was a competition on and that he had entered a design. This isn't some kind of conspiracy you can't decide how others should vote. I would hope that everyone would vote on merit as I can't really see any benefit in voting for loyalty.

I actually really like iawgoMs design. I like the miner output in the hologram on the back as bitcoin is made secure through the miners endeavours on the blockchain. But to be fair I don't have to explain myself to anyone.

I do believe this coin will need to be 2 oz Solid Yellow Gold, so the black and white areas may need to be modified to be all one color, if chosen.

While it is possible to get White Gold, or blackened PVD coating, I think if you're going to buy a solid gold coin, you want it to look like an all solid .999 yellow gold with no other two tones or alloys.

Well, I figured it would turn out like this.  I cannot possibly see how so many people vote for, what I consider, a very unappealing design.  Which one I'm referring to is irrelevant, but since this style of voting seems to be what will determine the winner, I'll just share some information that I collected on the voting.

Here's how the voting currently stands (someone feel free to check my numbers):

iawgoM - 24
elianite - 21
BTC - Graphics - 12
MrBau - 4
bit0 - 4
bonksnp - 3
campycoin - 2
S4VV4S - 2
Cranky4U - 1

All of the voting for a design that I thought was.......not great, kept getting votes when the original finalist https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=764623.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=764623.0) thread went up.  Everyone was screming scam/padded votes etc (which appears to be true) so Coinographic made a new thread open to everyone.  Since this board seemed to be manipulating the results, I went ahead and took the libery of posting a vote of the original top 5 finalist on a hardware forum I frequent.  I told them I would honestly like to know which design they like best, without googling who's design is which (even though a couple were watermarked already).  The order I posted the designs were as follows (to try and keep it seperate from the order they were in the thread):

1. S4VV4S
2. iawgoM
3. elianite
4. bonksnp2
5. bit0

Out of 143 votes, here at the results as of 5Sept2014:

https://i.imgur.com/xWLWLOW.png

While I would like to think that I could pad the results like this, I assure you, I don't have enough time or internet friends to do so.  And if anyone has a subscription to General Mayhem on Hardforum you can confirm the thread here and not some photoshop job I made up: http://hardforum.com/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=8632.

BUT, I figured you know what, maybe this STILL isn't a fair vote since I'm a somewhat active member there.  Maybe everyone went out and googled the designs first despite me asking them to give thier honest opinion just so they could vote for my design (unlikely, but possible).  So I went to a coin enthusiast forum (http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=7), signed up under a random name and posted the top 5 designs again, in the same order.  Unfortunately the admins took the thread down, but in the one day it was up the results were as follows:

Design 1 - 0
Design 2 - 2
Design 3 - 0
Design 4 - 5
Design 5 - 0

There's really no weight to the last vote since I have no proof, but I'm sure the admins there will be more than happy to confirm they removed a "Bitcoin design opinion" thread. And maybe even still have the results?

Now I guess the more friends you have on BTCtalk the better your design will do.  iawgoM asked for others (in a different language mind you....I assume to keep hidden from primarily english speaking folks) to vote for him: https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=hr&tl=en&u=https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25215.msg8624519#msg8624519

elianite not only asked for votes (which is questionable really) but had to have someone else photoshop his design because he doesn't know how to use it (which is the bigger issue).  Coinographic stated
The winning designer confirms that;

1)   They agree to work with us after the voting is complete until the final coin design is produced, no matter the amount of time this takes.  This includes the front & Rear of the coin as well as the hologram and packaging
It's not really clear whether or not "working with us" means to modify the actual design in PS/AI/etc (which I assume it does) or if it means "Give us your opinion on the coin" for whatever reason, which I seriously doubt.
I was told of this contest by fellow physical crypto collector elianite.

BTC-Graphics design is straight up ripped off from a Shutter Stock image which is copyrighted by someone named Mauro Carli: http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-203441218/stock-photo-roaring-lion-head-high-relief-on-the-facade-of-a-palace.html?src=PS5DwrRy6S3EBRIUs8iKRA-1-1&pl=77643-108110
Design 15 is far and away the best.  A lot of thought.  I like the upside down pyramid and more.  Plus the box looks like it includes a free vape pen
LOL.  Yes, A lot of thought indeed.
Quote from: BTC-Graphicdesigns
Coinographic the 5 designs you have choosen clearly are fails.
At least most of them are original.  Enjoy your lawsuit.

Someone in one of the other threads suggested that my design wasn't original.  I assure you, it was, and I have every single version of it saved on my computer if anyone doubts me.  I also saw many people claiming that the edge of my coin was silver and the "engraved lines" were just gold engraved into the black surface.  I guess no one thought to maybe ask what my intentions were but instead just make assumptions based on whatever they thought.

My design was to be a solid gold coin, with the edge dipped in white gold.  The black would have been a high gloss paint maybe, but I figured this would be something we would work out if my design was chosen.  But there would have certainly been 2oz of .9999 gold in the coin.

Frankly, I thought the 5 finalists that were chosen were fine with the exception of MrBau being absent.  But of course I was part of that group and the majority of you who weren't threw a fit because it was "an epic fail" and "I'll never buy coins from you!" and whatever else.

It's a shame it all went down like this, really.  I sincerely hope that the below is seen be Coinographic because it's probably the only reasonable piece of advice in the thread.
Coinographic, in the future, don't let the community vote.
Just choose the designs yourself.

Excellent analysis; thanks for keeping score. I have to agree; it would have simply been better for them to choose the design.
If I may say two things regarding my coin I would like to point out that I did submit an original hand-drawn version. I do not interpret this as a contest of  'graphic design' but of 'conceptualization'. Since my hand drawing was good at communicating the design, I see no problem with the fact that someone helped me with Photoshop, from the contest point of view. i did confirm with Coinographic that even a hand drawn design would be fine, so i must from that assume that 'working with us' shouldn't be problematic in that case.

Second, I regret that in this 2nd round of voting, my long description of the coin is lost. While I get that some others might be more visually appealing from quick glance, those who dont read the description will likely not realize the deep symbolism such as 3 7-star constellations representing 21 million bitcoins, the symbolism of the words with the image of universal currency, and the most innovate & secure hologram ever designed (3 separate windows and laser rimming).
At the end of the day, theres no way everyone can be happy with the contest whichever way it turns out. It is true that I am messaging those whom I have done business with before letting them know about my design; surely anyone else in my position would do the same.

it's a photograph of a lion's head on a palace in Italy,

are you sure that Mauro Carli owns the image of the lion's head, or just a copyright on his photograph?

i don't believe the coin design violates his copyright. maybe this should be taken up with the original sculptor ? if he is still around...

Sadly, your assessment of this entire thing is crap and I'll tell you why...

The Coin 15 has a lions head on it.  That is all. That is not a copyright image, it is an animals head.

Also, you claim your coin is not ripped because every single version of the coin is on your computer.  WTF does that mean?  So, what if every version of the lion head is on his computer?  What if every version of my drawing below is on my computer? Are you saying because I have each step of my drawing, it is not copyright infringement? So bogus dude.

https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSDR7L75sj-r12O7-0lvw80xlsL0-KPLCrMLKK6rdqk1r88Cx0d
If I drew this design or made it on a computer or told my friend about it and he drew it, it is copyright infringement, period.

So cool that you liked the final 5.  I thought it was horseshit. If you have a contest with rules, the rules must be followed.

Here is how I know you are clueless.  THE COIN IS SUPPOSED TO BE .9999 SOLID GOLD and yet you just said some shit dipped in white gold and black paint?  Are you an idiot? Have you ever in your life bought a coin?  I would NEVER, EVER PAY ANYTHING for a coin marked SOLID .9999 GOLD that had paint on it.  How would I verify its weight?  Take your word for it? Are you kidding me?  If the coin is .9999 SOLID GOLD then it contains nothing but GOLD!  Do you understand?

That is why I will never buy from Coinographic.  They are coin makers and even after they said .9999 SOLID GOLD, they made the excuse for taking your coin because of this white gold theory. Well, then it isn't a fucking solid gold coin... period! Your reasoning gives you zero credit.  You have every version and you had a high gloss paint plan for your .9999 Gold Coin.

If you think I or anyone else is gonna pay $7500 for something with high gloss paint, get a clue.

Rules said it had to have a box.  Croatia the Cheater didn't make a box, then copied a box, then went out and told his entire nationality to come pick his coin.

You and Coinographic all deserve each other.  Have fun with your .9999 Paint by Numbers Solid Gold Coin.  You guys won't sell 5.

Oh, and I vote for 6 by IawgoM  He duz veryy nic werk

I must apologize for yesterday as I was extremely frustrated with alot of things.  But after taking a night to think about it, I realize it wasn't fair to negatively criticize your design simply because it was hand drawn.  You seem to have been as transparent and honest as anyone could expect and probably put more thought into your design than anyone of the rest of us. (Not to say the rest of us didn't work hard on our designs, but you have a very lengthy description to go with it).  You also designed a box and the coin is solid gold and not questionable with white gold like mine or S4VV4S.

With that in mind, if your design is chosen and needs to be modified, I will volunteer to assist with any photoshop/illustrator changes that you might need to have done.   :)

I live in Switzerland, so figures that I have been in Italy a lot in the last couple of years. I did visit that palace and took many pictures of that great lion head. I used it as an inspiration for my coin design.
Mrs. BTC-Graphicdesigns no offence, But at least you could had made the lion by yourself instead of cutting up an image.

For 5 BTC what did you expect, Mr. worldtreasurefinders .
Let's cut the top 3 that battle for votes, and see the normal voting numbers this thread would have got.

Mr. Coinographic should really look on the accounts and the way the votes were casted, for me they are really fishy.

Actually none if I am honest. Compare my IP - I don't really care what you think.
Maybe the voters realised that my design is great? Or maybe its because I am the only female who entered?

I had to read your sentence a couple of times because I couldn't believe what I just read!
Whats the matter iawgom? Are the voters you asked to vote for you running out?
Let the best design win and don't be a sore losers.

P.S. I don't have to show you anything - either the voters like my design or they don't.

Not sure where you got the idea that you were the only female who entered. I also don't know what that has to do with people picking a design though... ? You picked a symbol of male power for your design, so if anything people would have assumed you were male. ;)

I have a question:

You are going to make 100 2oz coins in .9999 Gold ?

I guess not, because that would make your first batch production cost up to over 250 000$

Just curious :P

I never said that the lionshead was not from that picture! If I bought the lionshead picture from lets say photobucket then there is no more copyright on it and I am aloud to use it for my design.
Or if I visited the palace and took the picture myself there would also be no copyright on it.
I did post a response to the one guy who accused me of stealing that picture. It would help if you read the whole thread before accusing me of something.

Well I was wondering why I was getting votes from some newbie accounts all of a sudden. Why would I ask newbie accounts to vote for me when I know they won't be counted anyway if they werent active since July.
It is obvious somebody is trying to set me up and if it isnt you then my apologies. Also see the pm I posted which I received tonight.
I got into BTC just about then when this contest started.I registered my account here beginning of august.
I have no idea what a silkcoin is?

You might be set up or not, No one can say for sure, but one clear evidence is that thread and some of the votes count and the accounts are in the rule.

I didn't want to talk in bad words, but this contest if fucked up. I'll refrain from commenting till the end of it.

ok I herby kindly ask coinographic not to count the votes for me from the users who got paid to vote for me.
If you click on Mr.Baus link you can see which users got paid to vote for me.
Thank you.

P.S. what on earth is a silkcoin? may be a stupid questions but how can a coin be made of silk?

I just wanted to let this voting community here know that elianite, iawgom and myself tried to reach an agreement with coinographic this morning that the bounty be shared amongst us instead of only one of us three. assuming the 3 of us have the most votes when voting closes. place 4&5 would still be getting the 0.25BTC.
Elianite, iawgom and myself more or less agreed - we thought that it would be fairer to divide the bounty by 3 instead of only one of us winnig. The 3 of us also have a lot of accousations against us. We wanted to avoid more drama at the end of this comtest.
In the end coinographic decided that the designer with the most votes will be the winner. These were the rules he posted at the beginning of this voting contest and he will not change them.

I just don't understand why you say "Or if I visited the palace and took the picture" like if it was a possibility when in fact, it is clear that the image come from a copyrighted source, if you paid for it, fine, but I highly doubt that. I think that you'll probably pay for it if and when you will win.

I did saw the post in response to the guy who accused you and the answer is confusing, do you mean that you took the pictures yourself, because it does look like it is what you meant here:

"I live in Switzerland, so figures that I have been in Italy a lot in the last couple of years. I did visit that palace and took many pictures of that great lion head. I used it as an inspiration for my coin design."

I also hope, that if you bought a licence, you didn't took the standard licence because it is forbidden to use it on merchandise for sale... :/

https://i.imgur.com/BjtwH6y.png

I've contacted the artist, Mauro Carli, to clear all this up.

That's how I sees it, I might be wrong, if that is the case, sorry for the false accusations.

Just to prove my point here is a little video I made:

WTF - you all want to split the bounty because all of you have shills bumping up your vote count?  If that's the case, I've got two more days to start farming votes too.  If I can get newbs to vote for me, do I get to share the bounty too?

If I were Coinographic I'd call the whole thing off, pick the one I like best and give that person the full bounty.  This whole thread is a disgrace to the forums.

Officially the WORST thread I've ever seen on BitcoinTalk (and that is saying a lot).  But totally believable that Iawagow got 75% of votes with a terrible design

the worst thread ever?

Wow just wow.... Some of you guys are pretty fucking awful.

The number of people who have clearly been paid to vote here is clear, no posts for ages and then surprise 'I vote for X'

The number of people who have registered new accounts to vote.

This just goes to show the difference between the Litecoin Community and Bitcoin Community - this must be pretty clear to Coinographic himself.

I have bought a number of coins from Coinographic - I followed all the voting threads on LTC Talk for the competitions he had there and it was nothing like this. He is a fair honest and decent guy. He even offered to drive halfway across the UK to deliver coins to my father when they were delayed.

You guys (not all of you) should be fucking ashamed - Coinographic has stepped up to offer a great service to BTC and LTC and look how people repay him.

The crypto community should be grateful for someone like him and his partners investing the money they have to help create these coins for us.

If i were Coinographic, I would just have my staff members make the vote and choose the coin that suits there business. This thread is a joke and the moderation on this forum appalling. The disrespect shown to Coinographic and lack of respect to his rules is beyond a joke. You guys suck big time trying to scam the 'prize' from him. Unfortunately, his generosity has bought the worst out in a lot of people here.

But from my own point of view Design Six by iawgoM is a coin i would buy.

Hey Mr. "lack of respect to his rules is beyond a joke."

Your pick (which is a joke in and of itself, is a clear violation of the rules which required a box. So, your disrespect shown to Coinographic and lack of respect to his rules is beyond a joke.

Can I see proof of this quote below please... a receipt or something because your ignorance leads me to believe you may one of the "guys who suck big time trying to scam the 'prize' from him."

Coinographic has lost every ounce of respect.  He made a contest and gave clear rules and I, for one was very impressed with the designs and personally I had fun and when I saw I wasn't selected, I was fine with that.  I tried to go outside the norm and I wasn't picked... no big deal.

Then when I looked at the 5 designs.... there were glaring issues.  It was as if they picked out of a hat.  The rules stated that the design must include a box.  YOUR PICK, or FRIEND, or LOVER decided not to make a box. So, he should have zero chance at the prize.  The other guy makes a silver/ gold coin and zooms to show his "engraved gold lines" and states later that it wasn't grey or silver but black paint!  The rules said we were to design a .9999 SOLID GOLD 2 oz. COIN.   Now, I would never claim to be a genius or even intelligent.  Fuck, I'm borderline stupid... but even I know you cannot have a solid gold coin with black paint and white gold! So, when Coinographic heard the accusations, a nice response would have been...

"Guys, sorry... we didn't notice the no box situation or the multi-color. We apologize but we have to stick with the 5 we announced and we will look much closer in future contests."  or
"We need to reapply the rules as issued and decide a new five"

THAT IS CLASS, THAT IS DESERVING of "The crypto community should be grateful for someone like him and his partners investing the money they have to help create these coins for us."

But nope, the class act of Coinographic came after us, as if WE did something wrong.  Hey, if I didn't spend an hour on the box, I could have spent another hour on my design. If I knew that .9999 GOLD means include other fucking metals, then I would have liked to use offset colors etc.

Nope Coinographic had this to say about the rules....  THAT THEY LIKED THE OFFSET COLORS BECAUSE they saw it as a Gold Coin with white and yellow gold?  WTF?  .9999?  HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A coin makers for God sake.

Then about the box, Coinographic says that the winner has to make a box and will have time to do so after the contest?

And rules are rules....  it said 2 oz. SOLID .999 Gold.  So only coins that did that- exactly that and included a box, should be accepted.  It said to design the entire thing inc. box and submission deadline was given. So can I submit a new design today?  Same thing right? I'm just kinda bending rules.

But from my own point of view Design Six by iawgoM is a coin i would buy.

Anyway, I'll add you to my list of jokes and your friend iawgoM as well.  Speaking of class acts, buying votes, cheating, certainly acting proud of his "Superior Design" calling those of us who designed coins and followed rules "Flea Market Sellers" and acting like he was God at the beginning of this thread.  Clearly iawgoM should be ashamed of getting 75% of the vote for his crappy and no thought design.  Maybe iawgoM should take a lesson from God.  Realize his creation is kinda fucked up.  And then realize it is best to remain quiet.  No use puffing out your chest when really you have nothing to be proud of.

I mean, why are we allowing the current BTC sign on coins anyway.  You all realize that won't be the symbol in 5 years right?  Oh wait, who am I talking to?  These people think 0.9999 Solid Gold Coins look nice with white and yellow gold and some black paint.  Where do I sign up to get one of these pieces of shit?

Well, to be honest...  I actually agreed with most of what you wrote.  But please explain to me why you'd make comments about the fools buying votes and trying to scam Mr. Coinographic and then stating that your pick...

IS THE NUMBER ONE SCAMMER AND BIGGEST ISSUE IN THIS ENTIRE FUCKED UP CONTEST

It made your entire post a pile of shit.

Your pick chose not to follow clear rules, and acted like a pompous ass calling our designs "Flea Market"

If you are a coin fan, like I am, then you would know that creating a SOLID GOLD COIN is not easy. Nor is creating a unique box. Also, this item should be special.  A 2 oz solid gold coin ($2400) with 5 btc loaded ($2200) So we are talking about a $7000 coin perhaps.  With a limited edition of 100.  So, as a coin collector, when I saw the ones selected I was disgusted that with a coin of this magnitude on the line, that Coinographic allowed cheating, and bending of rules and then here comes you saying all these wonderful things about Coinographic (despite their total failure in this contest and their rude and retarded comments and excuses)  and on top of that, you put in a little vote for the one person in this thread that has cheated, lied, acted like a pompous ass, and sold out to get 75% of the votes.

Don't you think that is odd? It's like me saying, the world is corrupt. Governments suck. Politicians are assholes. Oh and by the way, for my vote for company of the year, I pick the NSA.

It is obvious that this Mr. iawgoM has not been clean since the beginning of the contest. This person is a fraud and if he wins it will only be because of all of his friends voting for him and him buying votes.

I have not looked back through the history of who has voted for No 6, i got bored after seeing 5-10 votes from newbies or people who hadn't posted for months - It was just that MY personal preference as a coin was Coin No 6. Thats all - its just the coin design I like nothing more Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks...

but then seeing the post just made by bigboss80 just says it all really - perhaps had the bounty been smaller say 2BTC we may not have had all of these people scamming/cheating for a $7000 reward. THIS IS YOUR PICK?  I mean really?  Who would spend $7000 on this?  How is it unique or special?  You think the dies would hold up on those tiny little details?  Never.  It has a 5 on it... big deal.  And here are his words....

"Creating a box isn't a problem for me - and it will be better that yours for sure. If Coinographic wants me to do it, and they won't be using that wooden box...

And yes, I agree to work with them as much as needed on anything that needs to be designed: the box, the toilet paper...blah...

You are not the ones who decide about any kind of disqualification - only Coinographic can do that. They make the rules and can change them if they want to. There is obviously the reason why they selected my work to top 5, and as far as I can see people here support my design too. Gold coins are serious business, not a flea market... Sorry for you not making it to the finals."

Guy is an ass.  Plain and simple.  There is no reason to change rules, no reason to talk bad about others designs, and no reason to go saying how much others like his design, when he is farming votes.

It is obvious that this Mr. iawgoM has not been clean since the beginning of the contest. This person is a fraud and if he wins it will only be because of all of his friends voting for him and him buying votes.

Excellent!

1. Yesterday BTC-Graphicdesigns gets caught buying votes
2. She desperately defends herself screaming that she has been framed by someone!
3. She gets an idea that this could be her new weapon
4. New user registered today while I was sleeping at CryptocoinTalk and post a bounty for voting for munber six (if that was me I'd atleast tell people to vote for both design number and author name, details honey, details..)
5. That user used nick Zagreb to make it obvious that this is me (yeah, like I would be THAT retarded)
6. A new registered account bigboss80 here says:
It is obvious that this Mr. iawgoM has not been clean since the beginning of the contest.

So, you registered today, but you are following contest from the beginning, and this is your first post

UPDATE: admin from Cryptocointalk just gave me info that username "Zagreb" is registered from SWITZERLAND, same as BTC-cryptodesigns! Proof attached.
@BTC-Graphicdesigns: shame on you, you dirty liar, vote buyer, scammer, manipulator... Case closed.

GREED DOES NOT REST UNTIL IT IS SATISFIED AND GREED IS NEVER SATISFIED.

Good point

In light of everything and based on this....

Quote
Go to bitcointalk.org and then search for the topic: Physical Bitcoin Design Finalists - Cast Your Vote Now! - Ends 10th September 14.
And vote for design number 6. Then post proof in this thread with your BTC adress and I will send you 0.010 BTC right away.
Only need 10 votes - you will only receive the 0.010 BTC if you vote for design 6 using a full-member or higher level account.

Thank you.

I vote number 6 design. It is far much superior and hims is the bestest design over all design submitted that I see. Number 6 design I vote me.

I don't know anyone here so I just thought I would vote for myself. Sorry if I offended you. But I'm sure if I voted for someone else you would probably have a problem with it anyway. Next time I will ask for your opinion so you don't spend all your time here looking for someone to call out. I'm a nice guy, but a few sections on this forum are filled with huge amounts of drama.  Which is why this is only my second reply to this thread and probably my last.

Coinographic originally picked the top 5.  So a few complained, whined about details, and even attacked the person holding the contest. Some who felt so deeply about this didn't even submit designs. Which I find strange, but I brushed it off. So coingraphic had enough and allowed all the designs to be voted on. I was one of the top 5, but did I whine and stomp my feet when the contest changed? No. Because in the end it is their choice. I knew I had little chance because I'm new here. Am I happy the way things turned out? No. But am I acting like a complete tool about it?

Now the contest is still not going some people's way. What option is left but to act like a sore loser?

I can already predict what comments will come next. They will sound exactly like "if I can't win, nobody wins" or "do over".

Have a nice day.

We will assess all of the votes and the situation when the voting closes.  If we determine that anyone has cheated or otherwise broken the rules, they will be disqualified from the contest.  We will take a few days when the voting closes to be absolutely certain that any decisions made are done with the upmost of proof.

Design 10 tries to cheat: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=21979.0

This was not me.
Whoever made this account to try to make me look like a cheater is the real cheater.
I have messaged the Litecointalk Admin to get a trace of the IP or identity of the user. I will update this post with a screenshot once I hear back.

Its really sad to see this happen; all 3 of the leading coins now have had forum accounts offering to pay for votes, with #15 being first and then an account called ''Zagreb" (capital of Croatia, the country #6 lives in...BUT the account was seemingly traced to Switzerland, where #15 lives) offering to buy votes for #6. Really..?
I have very strong suspicions of who that might be. I am confident that Coinographic will judge the end results fairly and disqualify whoever is cheating.

Updates to come..

Ok guys and girls, I have done some thinking.
The situation is as follows,I have been a graphic-designer for 15 years now.
Have done a lot of work for a lot of international companies in the last 15 years.
During my career as a Graphicdesigner I have never seen so much drama. And believe me 15 years is a long time. It is really sad what went wrong in this contest.
It all started out with the 5 designs that were picked by coinographic and I must say, they were not good. I have seen a lot of graphical work in my career and I would have picked Inyx - now this is one fine graphic designer. I also would have picked Mr.Bau - very good idea with the swiss watch, graphic work is good. Next I woulf have picked the design by chemist-for-hire - I liked the idea of the chemical, physical coin.
Then also my vote would have gone to campycoin for making something totally different and having the guts to design a non round coin. My last vote, well I wouldnt have picked any one the 5 the coinographic team picked.
But yeah, this is my opinion.
I have also had enough of all of the coinbashing going on against me.And the false accusations that I am buying votes. Also posting some bogus adress in Switzerland. That is to much.

My thanks goes to everybody that has voted for me. I really appreciate it.If you like my work feel free to drop me a pm if you need any graphical work done.

In my opinion elianite nor iawgoM deserve to win. Elianite because he has no graphical skills what so ever and iawgoM because he is a scammer and has all of his friends voting for him.

regards

What a cluster this whole thing is.  Truth be told, I was interested in these coins, but if a crappy design ends up winning because they farmed the most votes, there's no way in good conscience I could buy one.

And obviously people still don't understand that campycoin's design is not a coin, it's a bar of gold bullion!

Then also my vote would have gone to campycoin for making something totally different and having the guts to design a non round coin.

One of the huge problems here is that we have people designing coins who have no idea how actual coins are manufactured.  Extremely minute details impossible to cut into a working die, utilizing white gold (which is an alloy and cannot possibly be .9999 fine gold), and painting a solid gold coin black show that these people do not understand what they are doing when it comes to coin design.  These are graphic designers, not coin designers, and that's why the final coin is going to suffer, because it's not designed properly.

The bullion gold bar idea is exquisite and would be the first of it's kind.  This is the kind of thing that coinographic should be seriously considering.  Right now the most exquisite physical BTC coins are minted by alitin mint, and a two ounce solid gold bullion bar would be a serious contender to those coins.

Coinographic needs to very seriously consider whether or not it's worth keeping this charade alive, because it's his money going into producing and funding these coins.  100 of these coins is 200 ounces of gold and 500 BTC, plus production costs.  This project will cost well over half a million dollars and IMO this is too much capital to risk putting into a sub-standard design whose winner won by farming votes.

I speak fluent finnish, and am canadian so I also speak some french.
I have some chinese friends who helped me with the Chinese translation. nothing wrong with this, again. if I truly wanted to 'farm', id have messages in 20+ languages. If you can read the text, it says very clearly that anyone is free to vote for whoever.
If you actually find me obviously breaking rules and being dishonest, then say what you will but the baseless accusations arent necessary.

I like the simplicity of design Twenty Three by worldtreasurefinders though.

Thank you for your kind words. I drew back my resignation after I saw the 3 posts of elianite farming for votes. So I thought: ok, elianite and iawgoM are both farming for votes and have their friends voting for them. I then figured to make this competition more exciting I will stay in the vote - I haven't really counted all the votes for myself, elianite and iawgoM. So I have no idea who is in the lead. If I win good for me, if not bad luck - no hard feelings. This is the way it will be.

As a final word I would like to wish elianite and iawgoM good luck - regardless of all the accusations and things that went wrong - may the best design win.

are you really that upset that you have to compete?
maybe everyone should drop out so you can win?

they already explained that they decided to stay in the contest.. and why not? they havn't broken any rules that i've seen posted,
it seems all the top voted accounts "asked" or "suggested" others voted for them somewhere or other.

a lot of us like the coin design #15, to me there is no doubt that the lion's head would look best as a gold coin when compared to the others,

it seems to fit well in theme with the silver litecoins Coinographic made:

https://images.weserv.nl/?w=800&url=i60.tinypic.com/2cad09.jpg

Golden Lion (BTC)
&
Silver Bull (LTC)       ;D

Someone needs to learn about SSL enabled proxies and VPN tunnels before running scam shows like this one.

kinda looks like that is what happend here, you all know BTC-graphicsdesign is from switzerland because she said so,
so if you wanted to frame her, and buy votes at the same time, what better way than to adopt a swiss IP?
even a child would have more sense than to use their own IP for such nonsense.

the rules were stated clearly at the beginning of the contest,

To Vote for your favourite design please follow the rules below;

1)   Please post a message on this forum with the name of the designer and design number  you are voting for.  Feel free to post any comments you may have for suggested improvements to the design, these comments may be taken into consideration when we work on the final design from the winning concept.
2)   Any vote from an account created after 31st August 2014 will not be counted. This is done to prevent cheating, we hope you understand.
3)   Any vote from an account that has not had any posting activity after 1st July 2014 will not be counted.  This is done to prevent cheating, we hope you understand.

anyone care to make a tally of votes so far?

10:30pm GMT is now passed. Looks like voting is done.

iawgoM with #10 is the winner, with  #15, #10 (myself), #16, and #4 coming in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively (if i counted wrong, do let me know)

This was a crazy contest all through, and while I would have liked to win, I recognize #10 as the winner, not having any real evidence of him being dishonest or unsportsmanlike.

If any other coinmaker (or coinograhic himself) would like to use my design or my idea of 3 hologram windows, please let me know; I would love to see it come to life!

I look forward to this `5` themed coin coming out, and depending on the final price, will consider buying one as I will hopefully be able to do so by the time it goes for sale.

Thanks for the contest Coinographic, it was messy, but I thank you for the opportunity and am excited to win the secondary prize :)

Only thing is... as I like BTC-graphicsdesign design 15 a lot too... is the image purchased for resale?  It is the identical image as the YouTube Video shows. I thought this is why she backed out but now she's back so we will see.  I hope she purchased rights if she wins.  She ended her last post with,

Quote
As a final word I would like to wish elianite and iawgoM good luck - regardless of all the accusations and things that went wrong - may the best design win.

I certainly do not have the same feelings. I never once posted in another forum or another site asking people to come vote for me or look at the designs. In my opinion what Coinographic should have done is had only those who submitted designs vote. Then we would have seen if iawgoM was best and his Croatian Cronies and vote farming would have done no good. Really a shame what happened.

Darth0ne- You made a good point about the rules, as they were posted ahead of time and included a mandatory box.  So, iawgoM should have 0% chance of winning

Same with the coin designed by boksnop who designed this coin which is very nice....  but also didn't follow rules.

http://www.clicknhost.com/u/110914/clp3l2ru5.png

When I questioned how this coin is 0.9999 solid gold as stated on the rules, he said,

Quote

Please note, that I'm sure you were speaking about me when you said, "But of course I was part of that group and the majority of you who weren't threw a fit because it was "an epic fail" and "I'll never buy coins from you!" and whatever else."

Let me just explain myself again. I am not a poor sport. I am not a cry-baby. If I lose a competition then I lose. That is the way life goes. But when rules are broken and those designers are picked to be in the final 5, and further... begin to boast and brag about their selection, it is simply wrong. iwagoM could have apologized for his box error rather than say that a box means nothing and he could make a box in 3 minutes better than all of ours.  And Mr. "Solid Gold with white gold edges and paint" didn't seem to understand "SOLID GOLD"

My wife and I designed our coin and we made the box design and coin design below from scratch.

http://www.clicknhost.com/u/110914/zlbxtipw3.png

It was not an easy design because of the fact that this coin needed to be "SOLID 0.9999 GOLD" so I admit that when I saw the final 5 and a few were outside of the rules, this is not losing "fair & square."  I did not have an opportunity to use other colors or engraved lines or white gold dip because I was following rules. So, anyway that's my story. I never asked for a vote, I never PM'd anyone trying to cut a side deal or boasted of my design. I went outside the box because I wanted to make something unique and something that was of significant value. Coinographic picked 5 round designs and this was upsetting. That isn't much of a choice. We see gold coins like those everyday and I wanted to contribute something different since this coin is different. 2 oz. SOLID 0.9999 GOLD and loaded with 5 BTC.  That is a $7000+ coin.  So, please don't say that we were crying foul for no reason. There are rules so we play within the lines. Imagine a baseball team is only allowed 2 strikes tomorrow while the other team gets 3. This is not a legit game and one team has a clear advantage and those who went outside the rules should have been disqualified imo.

Thanks for those who liked our design. We wanted it to be different...  Congrats to the winner... and I hope that the winner did not farm votes or make a design outside of the rules or Karma will be coming. Not today or tomorrow... but in a "bit."

Unfortunately to me, you did not design a coin rather you designed what appears to be 'bullion'.

As a collector of physical gold and silver coins for many years I would not put your design in the category of a 'coin'

I collect as well and would normally agree with you but take a look at the competition...

Quote
THE COMPETITION
This competition offers a huge bounty of 6 Bitcoins and 2 ounces of fine gold for a physical Bitcoin design.  As with our other coins, it’s extremely important to us that the design of our coins come right from within the heart of the communities that drive them.

If you are interested in claiming this bounty, simply post your design right here on this forum post.  Please be sure to clearly watermark any designs that you post with your copyright.  To give you some specifications of exactly what we are looking for...

Firstly the coin will be a limited edition of just 100 coins, minted in 2 ounces of .9999 solid gold.  The diameter of the coin will be 41mm.  The BTC value of the coin will be 5 Bitcoins.  You will need to leave space on the back of the coin for a 33mm hologram.  The front coin should have a space for the limited edition number of the coin to be hand engraved.

You should design all aspects of the coin from the coin itself to the hologram and the packaging it will be supplied in.

We are looking for people to be as creative as possible.  It is our intention to create the most luxurious & exquisite physical Bitcoin ever minted. We believe with the help of the community here we can do that!

Then shortly after there is a reply from someone asking about the size and they say,

I know you didnt mean this, but i actually think a square coin would look cool. Definitely uncommon...

and coinographic replies...
Quote
Great idea! why not? These are the kind of ideas we are looking for.  Cant wait to see some submissions start coming in...

I also have a few coins and so I started to think that there are a ton of circular gold coins. They are everywhere. So, I decided to go outside the box and to make a unique collectors piece that would be solid gold and 2oz. and so I appreciate you saying a coin is round...  which I know... but they said they were looking for submissions to be "AS CREATIVE AS POSSIBLE"

So, I was creative and stayed within the rules.  That is all I am saying. An item like I designed would be more interesting, unique and creative than coin 6 by iwagoW that is a coin with a 5 on it.

One more question to a gold and silver collector...

This contest was to design a 41mm 2oz. 0.9999 Solid Gold Coin.

Can you tell me how thick that would be?

Oh for the love of.....

HERE.

https://i.imgur.com/7mVmCRx.png

campycoin, I'm actually glad someone made a square coin.  Honestly.  I started to do the same myself but thought it would be safer to make a square hologram on the back instead.  I appreciated the square coin design but frankly I think the actual design on the coin was a bit plain.  I'm not trying to attack you, I'm just giving my opinion.  I think if there would have been more detail or more design to it, it would have been a much more serious contender.  I also think (and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) that it was supposed to look more like a hunk of gold (bullion) instead of a more flat coin....if that makes sense.  Again, I'm not a coin collector or deal with anything in gold, but with your design, I'm guessing 2 oz of gold would be either really small, or much thinner than you had envisioned.

Anyways, I'll not argue with your points about my design being outside of the rules, but I'll just again say that I did PM coinographic asking about making the outside white gold before making the design that way.  Had he either not responded or said no, the black and white gold rim would not have made it into my submission.  I'm not a coin collector so if I'm being honest I sort of just assumed that 2oz of gold needed to be somewhere in the coin.  I guess I didn't fully understand that there was to be only gold and nothing to accent it, so I should have asked that as well before making a design.

I know most all of us worked very hard on our designs.  I think everyone took this very seriously and that the first prize might have been the reason it turned out the way it did.  I'm sure Coinographic has learned a few things from this as well, so however this turns out, I hope we can all eventually get back to what brought us here in the first place which is our passion for crypto.  :)

It is with great regret that we have to disqualify designers BTC-Graphicdesigns, iawgoM and elianite on a number of grounds. These are as follows:

BTC-Graphicdesigns:

•   The use of a Shutterstock image within the design means we must exclude her design as a whole. Shutterstock’s terms [http://www.shutterstock.com/licensing.mhtml] clearly detail that any images purchased are “not for resale, download or distribution, or any other commercial use”. Therefore - under strict copyright law - the coin design cannot be produced commercially by Coinographic.

•   BTC-Graphicdesigns received a very large amount of invalid votes (16 in total), highlighting the possibility of voting enticement. Additionally, various evidence has been put forward by members of the community also highlighting this. While there is no hard evidence to prove that BTC-Graphicdesigns has enticed votes, the abnormal amount of votes received - coupled with a sizable amount of these being invalid - allows us to, beyond a reasonable doubt, assume voting enticement was taking place on this entrants design.

•   BTC-Graphicdesigns attempted to reach an agreement with the other two vote leaders in the contest (iawgoM & elianite).  The agreement was completely outside the bounds of competition.  The purpose of this agreement was to try and manipulate the end result of who received the winning prize.  While the three people concerned may not have realized what they were doing (as they CC’d me in on the attempted agreement) we regard any attempt to try and manipulate the intended end result of the contest as an attempt at cheating and must disqualify the entrants involved.  In the interest of being transparent we have decided to publish the attempted agreement in full on this thread.

iawgoM:

•   iawgoM attempted to reach an agreement with the other two vote leaders in the contest (BTC-Graphicdesigns & elianite).  The agreement was completely outside the bounds of competition.  The purpose of this agreement was to try and manipulate the end result of who received the winning prize.  While the three people concerned may not have realized what they were doing (as they CC’d me in on the attempted agreement) we regard any attempt to try and manipulate the intended end result of the contest as an attempt at cheating must disqualify the entrants involved.  In the interest of being transparent we have decided to publish the attempted agreement in full on this thread.

•   While the votes iawgoM received where within the bounds of our rules and from active accounts, we noticed an irregular pattern in the votes he received (13 in a row on the final day of voting).  This is not the reason we have disqualified iawgoM but we feel it raises a suspicion of possible voting enticement.

elianite:

•   elianite attempted to reach an agreement with the other two vote leaders in the contest (BTC-Graphicdesigns & iawgoM).

It’s a real shame that these three contestants felt the need to reach out of the bounds of the contest to try and manipulate the end result.  We feel there was a chance that any one of these three designs could have won the contest in a completely fair way.

The details of the attempted agreement are below;

Hello Coinographic and fellow leading contestants;
It’s been a tough competition, and the 3 of us are vying for the #1 spot as best as we can. Let’s face it; it's stressful and hard on all of us, and when the contest does close and a winner is picked, there is no doubt going to be some very hard feelings and accusations of various cheating, friends, shadow accounts, bribery, plagiarism, and more.

I would like to propose a gentlemen’s (and ladies) compromise.
Currently, the structure of the contest is that the one with the most votes gets coin #001 (1oz gold + 5BTC), with the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place getting a prize of 0.25BTC each.

My proposition is that we all agree a change to the rules as follows:
Nobody is awarded coin #001, but it is instead sold at auction by Coinographic. The proceeds of this auction could be evenly distributed between us 3 contestants, with the 4th and 5th place winners still getting their 0.25btc. I suggest that the 3 of us agree to forfeit the 0.25BTC secondary prize in exchange for getting 1/3rd of the auction price of the coin, which also saves Coinographic himself 0.50BTC in prize money for the trouble.

Choosing the final design would fall to Coinographic, who might want to combine elements of our coins or freely choose one above the others. All our designs are great, and are supported nearly equally by the community. Perhaps we can even agree to all work together in a design group, but that’s probably asking too much.

The auction sale would be calculated as:
Final sale price by highest bid = (Intrinsic Value + Seller Premium + Numismatic Value)
Intrinsic Value – The value of the gold and btc; currently 10.2BTC / $5000US / 3800e
Seller Premium – The amount Coinographic would usually sell these coins for in order to make a profit
Numismatic Value – The extra value for being #001, and having an interesting history from the contest and this compromise.

With these factors, I expect the final price to be absolutely no less than 15BTC, and most likely between 18-20BTC with a possibility of going even higher. This would leave each of us with 5-7BTC in our wallets. Sounds good, doesn't it?

Competition at this point is even, nasty, questionable, and unpredictable. Any of us can win, and the end result won’t be pretty.

Benefits:
- All the 3 of us who have shown a nearly equal vote count get the most gain for the least risk, instead of gambling on beating the other two and being “winner takes all”
- This coin would likely fetch a high premium, because the contest and compromise give a very interesting history.
- We all retain our dignity with the community, and avoid accusations of cheating, favoritism, and more whether they are based on fact or not
- Coinographic saves 0.50btc in prize payouts, and does not face the reputation damage that might come if the whole contest was seen as illegitimate and a failure.
- Nobody loses; 4th and 5th place will be rewarded normally. we are depriving nobody except the unknown winner.

This way we all win, and I believe it is in each of our best interest. I think anyone involved in the contest would agree that this is the best possible conclusion at this point.

Let’s get a discussion going. Since there is little time left, I would like to say that we should all agree to this compromise within a few hours. If an agreement has not been reached within 24 hours (Monday September 8th; 22 BST (UK), 23 CEST (Switzerland & Croatia), and 5PM EST (Toronto, Canada) ) then I assume all bets are off and the competition will enter the final stage of voting. I think we’d all prefer that not happen, but if it does I am prepared ;)

Let’s work together on this please 'reply to all' with your thoughts.

ok guys, I agree with elianite. I would do it the same way elianite proposes. iawgoM and coinographic its your call now.
I also have to agree with elianite that when this competition closes their will be a lot of drama, a lot of accousations against elianite, iawgoM, coinographic and myself. That what elianite proposes is the best way and will allow coinographic to keep his good reputation and also us designer will remain trustworthy in this community.
I think this desicion is the fairest and would also show the community what good sportsmanship we have between each other.
Excuse my english, I am not a native speaker.

Hi all,

here's my point of view. I must say that I completely agree that at this stage things are pretty messy, and they would probably be even worse when official voting time ends - no matter the final score. I do like an idea about some kind of compromise, but let's see some of the facts:

1. How did we get our votes?
We obviously all got fans, friends, supporters - I guess things are pretty much tied around here, so we can ignore this part, right?

2. Our "sins"
iawgoM - accusations of stealing ideas: using number 5 (doh?! I'll just ignore this one because it's mega BS), and copying Mr. BAU's idea of BTC symbols forming the number 5 - I admit it does look similar, maybe he even inspired me (not saying that he did), but it's not my fault that I have similar concept but done better than him and his gears which are nice, but maybe too complex with not so obvious hidden meaning...
elianite - didn't make his own photoshop design ("only" the hand-drawn idea). How do you plan to make final design in case your design is the chosen one? Hire someone to do it for you again? I'd like to hear from Coinographic opinion about this - this is not flaming, but we should all be aware how our "contractor" feels about this.
BTC-Graphicdesigns - using that lion head, without real confirmation that this really is your original photo. If it is from the Internet, it would be completely OK if you said "I bought that picture and I have a licence to use it, which I will forward to Coinographic in order to avoid any copyright issues." If this indeed is your photo, please send it to us and accept my apology for this accusation which I didn't think of myself, but people on the thread.

3. Current standings
I keep track of all votes, and to be honest, right now only elianite and me are in the real race. In case you haven't noticed, BTC-Graphicdesigns has almost half of invalid votes (new accounts or not active after July 1st). Both elianite and me have a few of those, but with number of valid votes we are quite ahead.
I admit, it is also very stressful for me, and the fact that one last-second vote can change everything for any of us and make the difference between winning it all or losing it all, is both exciting and risky for all of us. I'm also prepared for the "final run", but again, this is a lottery because you never know... I believe that if BTC-Graphicdesigns had some "big guns" (valid members), she would have already used them, so the real race is between elianite and me. Maybe I'm wrong and things could dramatically change in next two days, but I doubt it.

4. Final design
It would be cool if Coinographic would tell us which design they prefer and if they want to combine elements of different coins. My question here is: who would work with Coinographic on making the finished product? It could take some time until the wanted result is made. I'm volunteering for this, because in my (unhumble, yes) opinion, I'm most experienced with Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.

5. How to split the reward?
With all of the above said, I'd like you to propose a different and more realistic percentages of splitting the reward. I don't want to remove BTC-Graphicdesigns from this gentlemen's agreement because of large number of invalid votes, but I think she should have smaller part than 33%. Also, what price should we put on the work on the final design? Of course, person who does this should be compensated as it's not fair that ony guy does all the work, but others get paid equally, right?

I tried to be as realistic as possible here. I hope we can all keep our heads calm and find a satisfying compromise.

Now I guess we should wait for Coinographic's response? Would love to hear what those guys have to say.

Br,
iawgoM

We have prepared a spread sheet detailing all of the votes and the reasons why any discounted votes have been discounted.  You can view the spread sheet here – http://www.coinographic.com/VOTES.xlsx

Without further ado I am pleased to announce the winners as follows;

1st Place – Mr.BAU with design 16

2nd Place – bonksnp2 with design 4

3rd Place – bit0 with design 8

4th Place – campycoin with design 9

5th Place (split) – S4VV4S, Litecoincollector, Chemist-for-hire, Worldtreasurefinders, Cranky4u

We offer our congratulations to Mr.BAU and we very much look forward to working with him to create the final design.  Our congratulations also go to all the runners up in the contest!

@Mr.BAU – can you please pm us all your contact information so we can get in touch with you to start work?

To preempt the inevitable drama, we want to make some statements about the winning design concept;

1. The finished completed design will be in solid gold
2. The finished completed design will include an original box design

In a final note we want to say that our decision is final. We have spent a lot of time reviewing the votes to ensure we are being as fair as possible. No amount of complaining or protest about the final results will change our position.

A big thank you to everyone that submitted a design! We appreciate your support.

If all the runners up can please forward us their BTC address by the close of business on Monday 15th September, we will pay the runners up bounties.

Thank you

There, congrats Mr. BAU! :) When this contest started I actually said to someone "this is my only competitor" - believe that or not :)

@Coinographic - great decision. Yes, I'm sorry to be disqualified, but you're right - that attempt of agreement is supposed to be punished. I'm only sorry that elianite ever sent us that PM...Lesson learned.

@crybabies, trolls, flamers - rejoice, rejoice, starting now! ;)

If the "Enhanced License" is purchased then the coin can be used in "Copies of merchandise for sale"

http://www.shutterstock.com/license_comparison.mhtml (http://www.shutterstock.com/license_comparison.mhtml)

To all those that tried to trash the idea of this contest and Coinographic's name for having this contest, i think you all can eat your hat now!
No one can disagree that even in spite of all the shenanagins, Coinographic handled the decision with grace and dignity.
They are truly a great contributing member of this community.

Quote from: elianite
face the reputation damage that might come if the whole contest was seen as illegitimate and a failure.

hilarious. had he followed your 'agreement' this whole contest would have been a complete joke.

instead, i see it was great success, in spite of this tom-foolery you shamefully call a 'gentleman's agreement'.

My congratulations to Mr. Bau.
Well done!

I did actually purchase the full license from shuttershock images which allows me to use the design unlimited for merchandising.
But that doesn't matter anymore - thanks for the competition coinographic.

Edit: yes lesson learned.

I'm so surprised with the outcome that I don't know what to say.
Thank you Mr. Coinographic for setting up this contest and Congratulation to all runner ups.

My coin has some problems right now, but I hope to work with Mr. Coinographic to fix them and have a worthy design for Bitcoin.
I do want to point out that this coin is a Swiss Watch design.

Well done!

Congrats Mr. Bau! I'm really happy to see this. :D

Good job Coinographic with resolving issues with the competition.  I think you did what was most fair in the end and most of us can agree with that. Do you still plan on doing more competitions here in the future?  I hope the drama didn't discourage you too much. :)

One thing though, I looked at the spreadsheet and noticed BTC-Graphicsdesigns vote for me was not included.  I assume it got taken down for her getting disqualified, but thought the spreadsheet should reflect that.  Thanks & congrats to all the winners!

Thank you so much to everyone for your kind words and support.  I must admit we were a little concerned as to what reaction the announcement would have.  I'n the end we just went with what we felt was right.

We will be hosting another competition within a few weeks for a lower denomination coin design.  Watch this space!

I look forward to the final product and would like to know when they are available to purchase.

In our experience it will take around 3 months from today before the product is in our hands.  2-3 weeks working on the final product design and then 8-10 weeks for the tooling and manufacture of the individual components required for assembly.

We will probably follow the same release structure as we did for our 25L coin;
Finish product design and begin manufacturing process
Open auctions for coins 2-10 on bitcointalk & open pre-orders on website.  We will try and time the auction end time with us having the coins in stock so they can be shipped immediately after the auction end.

As these coins are very valuable we do not intend to keep more then 10 coins in-stock at any one time;

When the coins will be in-stock we will be able to deliver within about 10 days (we will send each one off for engraving and hallmarking after each order is received)

When coins are out of stock they will be delivered within about 40 days from ordering

That's our plan right now, but nothing is set in stone yet

As worldtreasurefinders has said, you will have a tough time getting an easy run of this design as is.

There is too much detail on the gears and it will wear on the die that you may not get the design after all or in any easy means. It wouldn't surprise me if the gears started to break on the die itself when pressing into the metal.

I can assure you that I'll work with Mr. Coinographic to find a way to make the design work on a coin. If you look at the coins he already made, there are small details too, maybe not as many as in this coin.
We will see, I'm waiting for more details from Mr. Coinographic on how we will do this.

My whole point is this design will likely not look much like it does now on a real coin from a detail aspect.

I dont blame Coinographic for his decision. I proposed the agreement in full transparency with him and made it clear that it was OK for it to be made public.  I felt it was the best, and wouldn't be seen as overly controversial, instead taking away controversy by equally rewarding the top performers. I was mistaken, and I accept the disqualification stance.

Congrats to Mr. BAU!

Congrats Mr. Bau on winning the contest!  At first I didn't understand the gear theme, but the swiss watch analogy has slightly grown on me.  My main concerns with this design are that really it's more of a graphic design than a coin design.  A coin has to be designed like a relief sculpture, not a colored graphic.  The gear graphics look good on the screen, because you have a very dark field, with varying colors of gears and other elements, but the coin will all be the same color, so all those contrasting elements have to be realized through changes in the relief of the coin, you can't use color and transparency on a coin.

I already mentioned how the tiny keys in all the gears will be nearly impossible to carve into a working coin die, but another concern is all the different hues of white and gray you have in all the gears.  For a graphic, it's nice, but the surface of the coin will not have the benefits of different hues and tones of color to distinguish one gear from another.  Everywhere on your graphic where the different toned gears overlap, in a struck coin, all overlaps get lost, and it will look like a blob with keys and curves on the perimeter.

It's the same with the intensity of the gears; many of them look semi-transparent, which is fine for a graphic but on a coin there is no such thing as semi-transparent elements.  Imagine every gear on your design being the same color as the rest of the coin, with the same intensity.  I'm afraid what makes the design attractive on screen simply won't work for a coin.  Please don't take this criticism as me being angry and negative; I'm offering my true thoughts on the challenges this design will present for the manufacturer of the coin dies.

And for the love of God put a window on your hologram.  Being able to view firstbits to verify the balance of the BTC is absolutely essential for a coin of this price.

And I'd recommend Coinographic develop a method to make the holograms untamperable.  A 5 BTC prize will get the attention of lots of swindlers who will try to redeem the coin and keep the hologram intact.  It's already been demonstrated that it can be done.

Might I suggest laser-rimming the hologram in the same way as Casascius did with the 2013 1BTC silver coins? I believe it is the best method of preventing the hologram itself being tampered with. It includes essentially running a laser around the edge of the sticker to make tiny cuts into it around the edge.
I would also like to give a shout-out to my idea of having 3 (or two) separate hologram windows; as the combination of the two features would undoubtedly make the stickers on these coins the most secure yet on a physical coin and perhaps the new industry standard for high value coins. The separate windows could display the first-bit, the enclosed amount, and the serial number.

Yet another highly entertaining thread!
Coinographic, you fail to disappoint us ;D

Now to be more serious, I have nothing against you or your products. I really like the past coins you've made and am considering buying a few.
However, I have a some concern over the way your business is run (in terms of the frequent competitions you make). As you know this isn't the first time that something like this has happened.
As a matter of fact, it's happened to almost every competition you've made.
I've got a few suggestions on how to improve them in the future.
I'm inly here trying to help. No hard feelings :)
If you want to speak, send me a PM.

Good luck with the production and congrats to the winner :)

I have followed his Litecoin competitions and there has never been any issues re: the competition, have i missed something? Yes there were some issues with auctions but I don't recall anything being amiss with his previous competitions?

All seems pretty civil over on LTC Talk:) Cant wait for this gold coin to be produced so i can order one:)

Got to be honest and say i don't really know what you are talking about?  This is the only competition that has had issues and we feel with dealt with them in the best way possible?  We run many competitions because we absolutely love to involve the community in everything that we do.  We try our best to run our business to benefit the crypto-currency communities and work with them for constructive feedback.

If you have any suggestions as to how our competitions could be improved then please feel free to post them here on the forum...

If you are referring to the auction mess on litecointalk, that was our first auction we ever did (lesson learned) and i think we dealt with it in the best possible way?

Thank you

Just pointing out that Coinographic paid the exact bounty or prize they offered... 0.25 and they paid on the date they said they would with no issues. Thanks Coinographic!  Looking forward to future design contests.

Just an idea... perhaps only allowing those who submit designs to vote. Possibly giving each person 2 or 3 votes. With the rule that you cannot vote for your own design.  Might be the best way to get a true count... Also, perhaps to erase any accusations of copied submissions, make one day, the submit design day... So, if contest is announced 9/1. and ends 9/30 at midnight, make 9/30 submission day and everyone posts their design whenever they want (or can) on that day.  This way, if people are afraid their design would be copied, they can just wait till the last hour to submit, knowing no one will copy and be able to get it in by the deadline.

Also offer a bounty perhaps for best idea for a new voting process.  In this case, see the portion of my comment in italics above. lol  ::)

Thirded.  Was paid the 0.25 BTC consolation prize.  Thanks Coinographic! ;D

I think what campycoin and LitecoinCollector are suggesting is a good idea if Coinographic wants to continue to let the community decide, especially since I believe there is a couple more design contests coming in the near future.  Or maybe just PM or e-mail the designs to Coinographic then they can post the designs that they like in a vote thread.  Otherwise, I'd recommend just picking whichever ones he likes best and making the final decision that way.

As worldtreasurefinders has said, you will have a tough time getting an easy run of this design as is.

There is too much detail on the gears and it will wear on the die that you may not get the design after all or in any easy means. It wouldn't surprise me if the gears started to break on the die itself when pressing into the metal.

+1

It also should be noted (once again repeating what WTF said) that the different shades of gears will be difficult to accomplish if not impossible when stamping it onto a gold metal coin.

Only depth of imprint could possibly accomplish this and even that is on top of the gear issue wearing on the die itself.

But think of all the drama you got to be a part of, as well as the entertaining thread you and others provided.  That's worth more than any bounty.   ;D

We have taken a lot of advice on this matter and can confirm the fine detail of the cogs are possible to make on a coin. Granted it does increase production cost and time but we are not making this coin for the budget collector. No expense will be spared in ensuring the finished product is anything short of flawless.

We look forward to being able to publish the finished design and sending it into production towards the end of this month.

We have already made good progress and it's looking amazing!

In this case, see the portion of my comment in italics above. lol  ::)

Also got paid with no issues. Agree with campycoin, let the people who actually design something vote among themselves for lets say 50%. The other 25% public vote, 25% coinographic. See you guys at the next one!
Thirded.  Was paid the 0.25 BTC consolation prize.  Thanks Coinographic! ;D

+1 Received bounty. Would submit again. 5 stars. Thanks Coinographic.

Sorry all, but I don't think giving more weight to designer votes would solve anything. It would make the problem worse. The most glaring issue would be having one designer use multiple accounts and submit a bunch of crap and then vote for the best design of his alts. The other obvious issue would be back room deals among other designers who are already in a clique. I think this would make the vote less fair in the end. Back to square one.

Vote manipulation is hard to solve. I think account dates and post counts are one solution, but this too can create problems if only a small segment of one community is voting. Maybe opening the competition up to more communities (even non bitcoin communities) and then  randomly selecting which community votes for which designs or combine all the designs for one vote would help average the vote out somewhat and make any manipulation more obvious. Of course this would also likely bring in more designs and make the competition harder to win. Which is a bad for all of the us, but good for the competition.;D  It would probably be a big headache for coinographic and create extra work, but it would be more fair and create more publicity for their business. If you weigh votes I think coinographic staff and customers who previously bought coins from them should have the most weight in the end.

But that is just my two cents.

I think Mr Bau's coin design will turn out fine and look great. Can't wait to see the final product.

Your link points to a coin design that was posted today, so maybe they stole bonksnp2's design, not the other way around?

The Heck is this?!

Poly-coin team literally used the SILVER WALLETS design and changed the text
See the original: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=525756.0;topicseen
Then they used a Casascius v1 hologram and altered the bottom portion a bit.
Amateurs...

The coin looks amazing.  Your website mentions other gold and silver Bitcoins as well.  Will they have the same design?

The coin looks amazing.  Your website mentions other gold and silver Bitcoins as well.  Will they have the same design?

the 2 ounce silver (2BTC) will have the same design as the 2 ounce gold (5BTC)

The 1 ounce silver (1BTC) will have the same design as the 1 ounce gold (1BTC)

the 0.10 and 0.50 coins will have different designs as designed by the community

Hope that helps

We thought it might be nice to share these photos with everyone.  They are photos of our 5 BTC piece struck in brass for sample purposes.  It’s looking very nice indeed.  We have requested a few changes to be made (enhancing of detail in various parts of the coin & changing the date to 2015).  We expect to have the final sample for approval within 2-3 weeks.  From that point on its all systems go!

Anyway here are the pictures, enjoy!
