I'm always one for a challenge, and proving that I'm not too good at trading myself, I want to come to you, the community, to see if we can turn 1BTC into 250BTC by Christmas 2014.

I know that sounds like a hell of a challenge, however I personally seem to have been in the right place, just selling at the wrong time
(Blackcoin, Cannabiscoin, Guldencoin, Boolberry for just a few examples.)

I'm willing to put up 1 BTC for this, which I prefer to trade on Bittrex / Cryptsy / Mintpal.

So, what I'm looking for are well reasoned suggestions where to invest my 1 BTC.

If I do well from this, then I'm happy to share some of the wealth with whoever I believe has offered the best advice.
If it all goes wrong, then I'll look at it as another learning experience.

Clearly this is a high risk gamble, but hey, who knows how well this could go!

So come on, let's hear your suggestions, and see where we can grow this experiment to!

Use ur 1 btc to make a scam coin. If u are lucky , u can get 10 btc back.

you cannot grow 1btc into 250btc as if this is possible then everybody would do it.

Turning one btc into 250 by christmas is nearly impossible (it would be like winning the lottery), even with extremly high risk and trading. I would recommend LTC and XMR. But be warned - as there is the opportunity doubling your BTC (or even more) there is also the risk of resulting in 0.1 BTC (or even less).

QTL was another example of my "bad trading" - I bought a lot at 6k, saw the price rise to around 10k, bought some more, then watched it drop to 8k - thinking it would drop down I sold out at 7.9k and ended up breaking even, only to watch the price go up to 30k 3 days later!

The price of QTL might hit some issues with the latest update from Bittrex regarding the frequency of which Bots can trade through the API though.


1BTC to 250BTC needs some very well chosen coins, at the right time. Who wants to play?

Thing is everyone here is just gana tell u to buy their shitcoin which they are bagholding.

Aim for coins that are less than a month old, have not yet been pumped and have a low market cap (under 50k preferably)

The free distribution is about to end in a few days. Price of 1 CAPT is selling at around 1500Sat. It reached its highest price of upto 10000SAT when supply got constrained in coin-swap in the intital weeks after the coin launch. Once the free distribution is over there won't be any dumpers left and only speculators/traders and long term holders/believers will be left. Price could go upto 0.5 BTC as most of the major CAPT holders are happy to hold the coins and use only the 30% annual stake. Maybe CAPT is the investment you are looking for to grow your 1BTC by  Christmas!

It's completely possible. You're just taking the losses of those who fail to trade properly.

From 1BTC to 250BTC by christmas is impossible, but from 1BTC to 10BTC by christmas is possible. And then from 10BTC to 250BTC by next christmas.

Actually I agree this is a better approach nowadays.  Pay a dev to write a coin for you for 1BTC.  Spend all your time making fancy graphs, flowcharts, whitepaper.  Make it very detailed and lots of information.  It doesn't have to make sense.  Just make it "look intelligent".  Offer 100% ICO up to 250BTC.  Crypto community loves this stuff even though they deny it.

Oh and do a POD to seal the deal.

People will tell you it's impossible, but it's definitely not.

The problem you face is that you don't know which coins are poised for those kinds of runs.  You have to be in the right coins, very early.

You need to do a ton of research, all on your own.  Do not listen to anyone about any coin.

It is quite difficult to do that. You need a lot of time, you need to either do day trading - a lot, either some fraud, either .. things that don't come into my mind.

However, if you came here asking for advice tells only one thing: you are NOT capable to do that. Sorry, it may sound harsh, but I may have just saved you 1 BTC.
If it makes you feel better, I am not capable to do that either (I earned some from day trading, but I also lost some, I don't have the b*lls to play with big bucks and I don't have that much time either, because it will mean a lot of sleepless nights).

Here are my suggestions...

Suggestion 1:
Sell your BTC for USD.
Wait/ Hope/ Pray for [major] unforeseen catastrophic event to befall Bitcoin within next 3 months.
Buy back in @ $2.


Suggestion 2:
Sell your BTC for [insert your local currency].
Buy a nice suit.
Find some private investors.
Convince investors to loan you a shed load of money to invest.
Buy several real estate properties with their money.
Let out the properties.
Wait/ Hope/ Pray for [minor] unforeseen catastrophic event to befall Bitcoin within next 3 months.
Buy back in @ $200 (with your property yields)


More chance of that, than 'growing' 250BTC by Xmas via crypto-trading!

You can (of course) more than x250 your money by investing in the right coin at the right time.... however unlikely to x250 by Xmas.

The problem is : imagine your coin went x250 right now , how do you plan to sell off at that price , you need to find pretty much every coin that goes +x5 in the next months and not make a mistake + get out at the perfect time ... or hope that cannabiscoin is real :D

So, after a few suggestions I looked at yesterday, Sickfancy's suggestion of Nimbus was the one I chose, and within the space of a few hours, I turned my 1BTC into just over 1.3BTC. Thanks Sickfancy.
30% increase in a few hours is a start, still looking for more suggestions, and will do my own research on the suggestions that come on in :)

I looked into litecoindark after you mentioned it before and decided to take my next investment here and wow it certainly paid off today

picked up 1.3btc of ltcd for an average of 120 Sat over the last few days after opening a coin-swap account and sold today on bittrex for close to 13 BTC :) :) :)

This could turn into one heck of a Christmas :)

what coins should i look at next? Suggestions below welcome :)

I see only 2 options to do it.

1) Buy some really good drug that will make you feel like you have 250 btc.

2) Pay a really nice hooker and you will feel like you have 250 btc.

You'll need to pick several big winners back to back and re-invest your profits.

If first coin goes x10 then you make 10 btc
Second coin goes x5 then you make 50 btc
Third coin makes x4 then you make 200 BTC

That's risky though re-investing all your profits into one coin. Once you have 10 btc, it's better to spread your bets amongst several promising, cheap coins.

The only coin I ever made >100x return was on Litecoin because I bought it when it was a few cents. The problem is now any coin that is promising is given a high valuation immediately.

Also don't forget the bigger the amount of money you have the harder it is to make a huge gain. You can't put 50 BTC into a coin that has a 200 BTC market cap.

Buy a cheap coin with a small but growing community. That is the secret to success.

You're right I think about investing everything all on one coin. So far I've gone from 1 to 1.3 to 13 BTC in a few days,  so I'm more than happy but dont want to lose that all on my next choice.
i might look at using just 10btc of my money on the next coin i go for, and then i have 3btc to fall back on if need be.

Your expectations are beyond way to high in may regards.  250 Bitcoin goal from a 1 Bitcoin investment is not going to happen.  I hate to put it like that but I think it's true, mainly because you seem to want to gamble on any coin and one you yourself believe in.

Second thing is that your expecting someone else to do the work for you and most likely you will get people telling you to invest somewhere that suits their interest and will likely leave you holding their bags.  Lower your expectations and due your own due diligence is my advice, good luck meeting your goal.

Take your Bitcoin and buy as much as you can parts of NEM-stakes via NXT-AE.
Have you already realized what NEM can do?
Normally I would say hold it for longterm.
But when you can't wait so long, I guess the value of NEM will be at X-mas the 5x-10x of that what you've now invested.
This is my recommendation to you.

there is no hell in chance that you could do it with 1 BTC. But you could at least double your money by trading. Couple tips here...

1. buy IPO (initial public offering) very risky but the reward could be great. I have invested "clustercoin" (aka scam coin), I thought it was legit so I bought 0.4 btc worth of coin (after IPO ended). To end story short, I have bought half of IPO price and got the refund from Bittrex at orginial price.

2. Buy lots of coin at the initial stage. As being pump up, sell it before the dump happens.

3. If you believe in the coins, HODL!!!!. I bought 105 Bitcoindark coin at the early stage but decided to sell it for quick profit (made well over 100% profit) but I think I made mistake b/c currently it's at 0.01.

4. If you bought the shitty coin, you probably needs to wait until the price recovers. Almost always, another pumps will occur. I do admit of buying shitty coin but so far I haven't lost money in fact I made small profit.

5. If you decide buy shitty coin, always study the price chart b/c it will guide you how much you want to invest.

6. Lastly do your homework. Don't listen to all the hype from anybody b/c they  are trying to pump/dump method on  you.  You will be the victim
