Title: Now might be a bad time for newbies to buy BTC
Post by: Xiaoxiao on September 09, 2014, 12:34:21 PM
And it might be like that for years to come.  In fact, now might be a good time to short BTC.

This is the 1st year in which BTC has gone down.  And a new trend might be setting in.

Looking at charts and making such predictions is futile as it's all speculation. Nobody can predict what the price will be today tomorrow or two years from now.

This is the 1st year in which BTC has gone down.  And a new trend might be setting in.

You are drawing your vertical black lines in the wrong place.

Try again, only this time draw your lines at September 1.

Then re-calculate your annual increase for the new ranges.

Bitcoins are best as a long term investment so buy them now. If they blow up tomorrow then you waited to long.

What are you talking about?  Notice the question mark after 3x Decrease?  Its a speculation that perhaps for the year 2014 that bitcoin will not have increased.

If I draw 3 lines and write "x2847 increase?", that would still be bullshit. Even with the question mark.

We don't know yet if Bitcoin will be down in 2014 because there is still 3months to go before the end of the year

It's just a question of where you actually take the samples. Unlike Shannon or Nyquist already pointed out, sometimes you have to use a lower sample rate in order to recognize the real trend amongst all the noise...

There is no way to tell what will happen with the price, we still have plenty of time left yet to see it go up if it is going to. I will admit if we see it go down again it may be cause for concern and may not be wise for newbies to buy in until we see even a slight rise after another drop.

you have to download the wallet through the coins official website. You'll need a separate wallet for each coin you need to store. In the event you’re just planning to trade them for other coins, you can store them around the exchange wallet associated with your account. Every coin has it own blockchain (don concern yourself with being aware of what a side chain is appropriate now while youll probably get confused in case your-centre new to everything at this time) every blockchain has addresses related to it that arent linked to other blockchains. This can be why you ought to have separate wallets to the addresses to the coins you’re storing in it.

The whole thread is about speculation on bitcoin price. No one is asking about how to create a wallet for altcoins.

Exactly, a lot of FUD on bitcointalk right now. I definitely think a lot of users are paid for FUD. Don't believe them and buy now, don't wait to have high prices to buy.

The bitcoin price is now $450 on bitstamp and $443 on btc-e.

I know that the stock market tends to perform well during Christmas, but I have no idea if that applies to bitcoin as well lol. :)

Hmmmm Are we not supposed to buy, when the price is low?

These last couple of months, the price was dropping from $1000 to $450 now.

If it goes back up to $1000, we would be doubling our profit, from what we buy now.

I cannot see, how this is the wrong time to buy more bitcoins now. ^Totaly confused^

It seems OP's logic is:
If bitcoin price has increased, it is a good time to buy bitcoin; but if bitcoin price has decreased, it is a bad time to buy bitcoin.

So it seems to me that OP expect the price to move the exact way in the future as in the past, which isn't right at all.

I do not really care how low it goes as I plan to be in this for the long term so I just keep on buying some on every $20 drop and I'll keep on buying as it goes back up again.

Bitcoin will either fail or become what we all hope for it to become. If the latter then there's but one way for it to go and that is up. Bitcoin, in my opinion, will be around for decades to come and with its limited supply it would mean that it can only increase in value.

The current dip in the price will not be the last and I believe we will see many more like this in years to come. These are good as it offers those not yet 'in the market' a chance to get in and for those who are already in an opportunity to sort of 're-stock'.

He's saying that we haven't quite sorted out whether this is a falling knife or we are in the clear. If the former, a newbie might panic and also might not know how to deal with exiting on the right side of a wave. So, yes, it might actually be a very dangerous time for a newbie to buy.

We are currently near the lowest prices for the year of 2014.

Noone actually knows where this bear market will end. Noone knows the reason for it in actual fact.

If you want to acquire bitcoin as a high risk investment then beginning to acquire a position here is a great entry point with massive upside and some real downside risk also. Bitcoin is always risky. Waiting for an upturn in the price will mitigate some risk but be difficult to time as the price will likely rapidly climb away from the low.

I love that if you are a bitcoin bull and cite the long term bull market with hype cycles you hear the usual 'past performance does not predict the future' from bears. Then the very people criticising you focus on an extremely recent part of the same chart which just happens to slope down to predict further price falls!
