Title: BitcoinTournament.com
Post by: PwrLeveld on May 10, 2011, 01:07:24 AM
Hi,
I am the admin/founder of BitcoinTournament.com. The website is currently in development, and I need some market data to determine the structure of parts of my site. The site will be a video game tournament site with entry fees and rewards for the winners of the tournament. I plan to start building the website itself this thursday, while other assets are being built now. The market research will determine everything from tournament fees to prices of initial stock in the company. My plan on stocks is to sell 100 stocks out of 150 total stocks in the company. The remaining 50 stocks will go to both me as the owner in the company and to the owner of the domain name I am using.(The amount of stocks is based on using .5 BTC as the stock price/ less or more stocks depending on initial price.) So, I ask for your help by filling out the short 8 question survey for market research. The data will directly influence the site. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KS2572C
Thanks,
Pwrleveld
Edit: This is the new spot for my discusion of this as it was previosly in Bitcoin Discussion

Hi,
I published the fact that the survey was live a aprox. 4 hours ago and I have yet to get a single response. I was just wondering, what is keeping people from doing the survey. The survey takes less than 5 minutes and will help provide me with good market data to help build the website and investor information.  At this point I will offer a 0.05 BTC reward tp the first 10 people who complete the survey. You will just need to email me your bitcoin address to the email provided at the end of the survey. Also if you could tell me why you were previously not doing the survey that would be helpful.
Thank you,
Pwrleveld
P.S. If you complete the survey and email me your bitcoin address I am sorry but I will not have enough BTC to pay you.

I didn't do the survey because it's N/A to me, not being into those kind of war games.

Well, that is why I am doing market research to be honest. The entire reason I am doing such research is to figure out what games to offer. I think I will offer more traditional tournaments like chess or poker. This website is suposed to be a starter for a group of websites that will offer winnings in bitcoins in some way or another. In addition I have have put together some investor information, and it will be uploaded and avaliable on the bottom of BitcoinTournamnet.com within an hour of this posting. However this is a prilimanary draft of the investor information and costs and technicalitys are not completly set yet.
Edit: the investor info will be delayed due to some more changes I am making.

Hello,
I will now provide some initial investor information for BitcoinsTournament.com
Initial stock price is intened to be 0.25 BTC as long as the conversion rate does not shoot up to greater than 6.5 USD to 1 BTC. The initial stock offering will be 110 stocks of 300 total stocks in the company. I will maintain general ownership of the company with a personal holding of 151 shares, giving me a aprox. 50% ownership in the company. My initial backer will maintain a 13% ownership in the company. The initial funds will be used to hire a developer to create an exclusive plugin to facilitate the websites total use. The website will however be functional before the completion of the plugin. Stockholders will vote for some resolutions(I will not vote on such resolutions as I have a majority ownership, but will keep the right to reject the resolution).
Thank you.
P.S. Invetor information will be uploaded tomorrow as make improvements
BitcoinTournament.com- Got Game? Win Bitcoins!

Also the free 0.05 BTC is still avaliable.

Add League of Legends.  It's a free game thats taken the gaming industry by storm.  Theres a lot of tournaments that are just starting to pop up for it and this would be a great start for the game and for bitcoins.

Look at League of Legends on reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/). (8,594 readers)

Call of duty: black ops on reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/codbo/) (4,982 readers)

also, Bitcoin on reddit  (http://www.reddit.com/r/bitcoin/)(856 readers but growing quick!)

/I will stop flogging this dead donkey now :)

one more thing: I am pretty sure that the EULAs of most games disallow playing the game for money; they won't be able to prove that bitcoin is money (at least straight away) in a court of law, but then they don't need to; they can pretty much arbitrarily ban anyone they feel like, which means sooner or later they will start banning players that play for bitcoin.

Title: Re: BitcoinTournament.com [Free 0.05 BTC]

There is oficialy no bitcoins left to give out that are allocated towards survey rewards.

Oh, and to Nereer, why don't they ban MLG players then. They won't do it for such a tournament like this, in my opinion. Thanks for the reddit links wich I will post this up on.

Aditionaly, I would like to say thank you to all that took the survey, while I am still looking for about 25-75 more people to take the survey.

Tournaments are made all the time with official cash prizes.  Sponsored by major players too, like EVGA, etc.

I think it'd be against the law if it was built in to the game (gambling, or something), but if a 3rd party hosts a tournament, I don't think there are any laws against it.

Hi,
I would like to start by thanking everyone who completed the survey. There has been a total of 30 participants in the survey providing promising data for the creation of the site. I also will have to say due to numerous write in votes league of legends will be one of the earlier tournaments. However, this is more about the fact that there is now some investor information uploaded to BitcoinTournament.com. To veiw the information just go to BitcoinTournament.com and click the link at the bottom. Make sure to save the file as .pptx as it tries to save as .zip for a reason I can not figure out. I advice everyone with an intrest to invest in the company reads the information provided within. I also advice anyone that has enough bitcoins to invest but no intrest to invest to read to as it explains how it will help you. In addition I would like to anounce that it is definite that you will be allowed to host your own tournaments, more details will come later. Over the weekend a website should be up that will be mostly informational without the function of the final website.
Thank you,

I'm seriously thinking about making a similar site. With the difference that the focus isn't really on tournaments, but other types of competitive gaming.

I honestly don't see enough market for 2 of such websites to be honest. The use of BTC is just not there to suport 2 hardcore gaming sites.

That might be true, but competition is always good for the marketplace.  It inspires innovation and ensures efficiency.  Granted, there could be a downside for you, but may the better site win!

I am looking for a relliable webhost acepting bitcoins, any sugestions?
The web host must allow cpanel, and it would be a good thing if it offered an aditional domain name with hosting. The current host I am using has fine hosting, but I am getting mad at slow Cpanel loading. I also would like to suport the bitcoin economy. ;D
The website is in planning, and I am offering a 5 BTC contract to whoever can make me a plugin.(pm me for more details)
I will begin the selling of stocks as soon as I have the majority of the website functional.
If you have any questions or comments, please post.

Top right corner, change payment type to BTC.

Not affiliated - I believe this hosting service is owned by MagicalTux.

Is it posible to pay by month with that host, or only by year. I currently am operating on only aprox. 2.5BTC. The contract offer I have up is offered because by the time the contract would be fufilled, I would have the full 5BTC to pay. I do  not have enough to pay the yearly fee yet, but I will be able to, it would just be nice to pay the first month and then buy a year.

I ust wanted to post, that tonight I will begin selling shares at .25 BTC each. There will be a 110 shares avaliabe for sale, while there will be in exsitence 300 shares. I will keep a majority ownership(159 shares, my initial backer will receive 31 shares) in the company, until I feel safe enough to reduce my ownership in the company. The sale of stocks will initialy pay for a new webhost(my current host is unreliable) and for a developer to write a plugin that will allow for more automated payments and tournauments. The stocks will be sold on GLBSE under the ticker UBIT.

If you are wondering why bother investing, there is multiple reasons. First of all you will be payed quarterly dividends(more details later). In addition, stockholders will be able to vote on stockholder resolutions.

I will post on this thread when the stocks become avaliable. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.

so you are valuing bitcointournament at .25 BTC x 300 = 75btc = $7.39 x 75 = ~$554
that seems believable

how much work has been done?

what kind of timeframe before you start public beta?

Is the developer full time or is he doing this in his spare time?

cheers and good luck :)

Currently, only preliminary planning has been done. I have decided upon what content managment system will be used,E107. I have also planned most of the pricing done for diffrent tournaments, and for a membership plan(more details later), and also other services that will be based both on seperate websites and plan on offering the purchase of steam games through bitcointournament.com.

The current timeframe is to have a updated website functional with 2 weeks with additional information but no actual functionality. The full website should be up in around a month depending on the time taken to find a developer and work out a contract.

To continue on the developer, I will initialy hire a developer part time, however when I acheive high enough profits, I plan on hiring a develop on a monthly contract to work on other bitcoin projects I have planned(for example an ad servicing company). The developer will initialy be payed on a per project basis, however this may change.

In addition, to explain the stock ticker I chose UBIT because when I have the money I will register the domain (snip for secrecy) as I plan on running a few websites, however more details on that will also come later or upon request.

Thank you for your valuable questions, as every question forces you to look within your plans and make sure they are stable.
edit- the snip

-dood I like the gif as it is pops out very well.
-2nd_lawl There will be all kinds of tournaments and beleive counterstrike will likely be within them.

For an update on the current status of the stocks. I am downloading all of the required software to operate a glbse acount right now. To mention to all posible investors that are scared by glbse it is actually easy enough to use if you just follow the tutorial while using it and pay atention. The stocks should be up tonight or tommarow, however I am not sure. I advise if you invest to buy more than 1 stock because the quicker I raise enough startup funds the quicker I begin operating the site, so you profit quicker too.

Hi,
I am currently in the process of creating the asset on GLBSE and I decided to post a shareholder contract. This is the contract that will govern the actions of the company in regard to shareholder. This contract is a modified version of the standard GLBSE stock contract. I have not signed it with PGP however, because I do not see the warrant for installing the client to sing a singal document. Shares will be sold under the ticke UBIT>
-Begin Contract-
Univseral Bitcoin shareholder contract

The holder of this certificate(from here on known as a shareholder) is a holder of one share of the organisation Universal Bitcoin.

That is, the owners of these shares are the owners of the organisation, such that all assets held and profits earned by the organisation are the property of the shareholders.

Each share entitles the holder to one vote in motions put forward by the organisation, such that the ownership of 10 shares entitiles the owner to 10 votes, and so on.

Profits are the income remaining after expenses including operating costs, and research and development of new technologies or services, establishment of reserve funds, and any action that the organisation see's nessecary to take part in.

All profits earned by the organisation will be paid to shareholders as a dividend, such that these profits will be divided equally among all shares.

Dividends are to be paid on a quarterly basis.

Each share entitles the holder to one share of the organisations profits.

In the event of winding up of the organisation and liquidising of it's assets , after the payment of the organisations creditors,
the shareholders will be paid all remaining liquidity, divided equally among shares, such that one share entitles the holder to a single share of liquidity.

Appointment of a Chief Executive Officer(CEO), a company secretary, a company treasurer requires the approval of at least 51% of shares in a vote on the appointment in a motion.

The decision to wind up the organisation (and therefor liquidate it's assets) requires the approval of at least 51% of shares in a vote
on the issue in a motion.

A change in the organisations requires the approval of at least 51% of shares in a vote on the issue in a motion.

Motions can be put forward for voting by either the organiations officers, or by 30% or more of shares, and require the vote of 51% or more of shares to pass.

No shareholder is liable for the actions of this organisation, or of any of it's officers or anyone who performs any action or task for this organisation. No shareholder is liable for any debt that this organisation takes on.

The limit of liability of a shareholder is solely limited to the capital already invested in this organisation when this share was purchased, and no further.

I was just wondering if there is any intrest still in this, as I still would like to pursue this project but I have not had any time the past two weeks with a hectic school and sport schedule. If there is intrest the stocks will almost definetly be up tommarow as I beleive I found the way to create a stock on glbse with the vmware client.

Well, glbse is actualy amazing simple to use if you are not isueing(sp?) shares(well thats more of a problem with vmware). It is good to know people would participate if it is created, but without any funding I will only be able to create a crude website where all transactions would need to be manual with my own bitcoin wallet. It is however in my opinion a viable option to create a crude website without funding to pay for the creation of a good website, however that would be months down the road.

I am not sure If I am still going to do this. I know I will no longer offer shares because with the violtilaty of the curent btc to usd rates. I think I will make my decision after finals. However, if someone would make a website for a vcc with $29 and .9 BTC I would definetly do this. Actually all I need is a plugin.
