Title: [ANN][DT] DarkToken - NIST5 - PoW/PoS
Post by: darktoken on September 16, 2014, 09:54:27 PM

Challenging the expected

DarkToken takes the next step in coin development by fixing it from the start. Rigorous, energy intensive mining over long periods of time, or even worse, short PoW flash-mines, are extremely detrimental to not only the environment, but the crypto community as a whole. Networks can be maintained perfectly using Proof of Stake, but most choose not to, why? Ultimately, this answer is because it makes a few people richer, largely the developers and “early adopters” (friends of the developers). This is the reason we chose to have a PoW phase that was neither lengthy nor mining intensive. Our model for distribution is that the entire supply will be sold through our ICO which is being escrowed by www.c-cex.com, apart from 2%, which will be generated through a short proof of work mining phase.
~
DarkToken aims to offer a refreshing new take on what a crypto-currency should be by detailing every aspect of the coin, from start to finish. DarkToken will launch with a detailed wallet which includes a block explorer, IRC chat, and an exchange function fully built intra-wallet. The goal of the ICO is to raise the funds necessary to pay for the varying costs that come with setting up multipools, hiring developers/audits for source, integrations, and various other goals we have lined up. We decided to make our ICO “cheap” due to the nature of our intentions, such as why we chose the distribution model that we did.
~
A Proof of Developer may be completed upon request; we are more than willing to :)

█████████████████
ICO & Block Structure
█████████████████
Block 0: ICO
Blocks 1-20000: 10 DT (1 week PoW/PoS)
Note: Blocks 1-100 0 reward to prevent instamine
Blocks 20001-999999 2% PoS

DarkToken uses a hybrid PoW/PoS system. This will allow for the network security of proof of work  and later, the energy saving PoS. PoW will end after block 20,000 and it currently only exists to provide network stability to the coin whilst it is in its infancy. We are very against PoW as it wastes a great deal of energy & a multitude of valuable resources.
~
The premine block will be sent C-Cex, whom will host our ICO. 10 Million [10,000,000] coins will be available to purchase at a price of .00001000 per coin. We chose to do a relatively “cheap” ICO, in retrospect to what some others have aimed for, as our objective should not require hundreds of thousand of dollars. Other ICOs have simply collected their money, then pissed themselves. We do not wish to do this & we are only expecting to collect a sum that will be put forward to developments and to fund services

It does. I wonder if we could get this deleted if we all report the first post...

Also, never ever login to wallet integrated exchanges.

I think we live in a democratic community, he got the right to launch a "shitcoin" , you cant ban him just because of this . let the community do the pick.

Just to clear up some misconceptions that have been posted here already:

-The ICO was done as our preferred method of distribution due to reasons listed in OP.
-DarkToken is of no relation to BlackToken

Cheers

We reached a point in cryptos where devs want BTC for an ICO where all you show is a wallet that loljosh can build for not even 0.1 BTC.

Tell me please, why do you think you deserve 100 BTCs?

Dev come with something strong.
There is no "story" behind this coin why it is "amazing"

What i see in the announcement looks very cheap for almost 100BTC ICO

I'm not sure who would want to invest in a coin like this, but either way, as far as I know you can't trade until the ICO ends which lasts for 5 days so the only people selling now on c-cex are the people who bought in for 1k.

Sells have been deactivated on the market so coins that are generated during our PoW phase will not be able to be "dumped" until ICO has completed. There is no instamine & the block rewards are actually relatively minute. I wish everyone would take a second to read the specifications and objectives of this coin before flaming it. It is discouraging to see such aimless 'FUD' being generated for no reason at all, you can't even currently FUD the price down... While it is disheartening, I'm obviously going to ignore these messages & continue to develop this coin regardless. If you don't like it, that's absolutely fine. If you wish to say something about my coin that is negative, that is fine. However, I ask that you please post in a respectable manner your disinterest, as opposed to 'omg this is (insert X coin) developer, scam scam, instamine dump'.

I believe crypto currency is the future to currency as we know it. Please start treating it as such.

Cheers

I believe crypto currency is the future to currency as we know it. Please start treating it as such.

Surely not. It's a fairly direct copy of Icebergcoin, including the clumsy cut'n'paste ...

look on cex

https://c-cex.com/?p=dt-btc (https://c-cex.com/?p=dt-btc)

21 BTC sold thus far.

While IPO/ICO's have been a minefield of scams and incompetence recently there are a few exceptions maybe this is one as well?

Its all on the dev as usual  ,if they are honest and competent this coin may prove to be a good investment despite all the predictable fud.

time will tell.

Hey, thanks for pointing this out. We have fixed it and commited the fix to our github (https://github.com/darktoken/darktoken). While it's true that we based our coin code in another coin's code (like every new coin does) we don't want to stop there. The objective is to build a whole ecosystem so the coin can gain value and the ICO will be a big help on making this a reality, as stated in the OP "(...) sum that will be put forward to developments and to fund services."
We have already started the development, all the new wallet design and in wallet exchange was code made by us, and there's more to come.

And btw, we choose Icebergcoin's code to be our base code because, after some weeks of testing it proved itself to be by far, the stablest code we encountered.

Cheers

I think the problem is on his side :)

ISP routing issues i guess, been getting payouts once every minute or two all the time from suprnova.
Took 1/2 hour before i could access any of the 2 pools on the list with hashrate..
Starting to stake in 1 hour ;D

Why would people even buy this coin?

The rules for ico are posted, you do know this is crypto right and that no one can make a dev team do anything? After one ico went bad (NWO) they changed the rules because of it.............

Yes but we already stake like crazy on those early coins.
Once ICO coins starts to move around and loose weight and mined coins are at full weight..
As soon as ICO coins are release some will move to wallets and the rest will most likely move after
another exchange list the coin.

The ICO has sold out! Market to open shortly, waiting on C-Cex's support.

I'd also like to thank you guys for supporting this method of distribution. Today showed us just how wasteful Bitcoin mining is as the price of BTC dipped under $390, every miner instantly turned into the red as it would be no longer profitable to mine BTC with such a high difficulty and low price. PoS is the future of crypto whether you want to accept it or not; it has to be. I also have been rather quiet because it is nonsensical of me to respond to such baseless remarks as those that are made on this thread. I look forward to proving myself through my work, not my words. Happy Trading  ;D :D

Great to see the market is doing so well after opening! We started out with a 600% spike on over 20 BTC of volume  :D

I hope to have a detailed set of action for this coin laid out by mid next-week. Integration of in-store wallet (basic functionality as it is still in Beta) and a name alias system are the first on my list as I believe both of these goals are easily achievable by me & are vital to the survival of any cryptocurrency.  If you cannot spend your money, who wants your money?

I'll be back soon to check in

One have to see each ICO as a dice throw or a spin at the roulette table.
Look at LTCD i rented a rig for 0.05BTC sold a few days later for 2.5BTC = BINGO!

Pod isn't a game changer, I'm not sure how any of you in crypto think a centralized "authority" is somehow good for decentralized currency. All of you need to return back to Fiat, the new people in crypto are just lost.

My theory if anyone cares.  Although the bitcointalk community is very big, there are very few people here that truly believe that crypto has any kind of mainstream future, bitcoin included.  So, what does someone do if they want to make quick money and don't really believe in the product?  Simple.  Pick the coin that has all the bells and whistles in the announcement, a pump team and is mostly likely to get pumped quickly.  Something like CKC looks like a legit project and will take way too long to come to fruition, if ever, which makes it a bad pick for quick money.

Told ya.

KingBTC pump into his walls to 7k and dump in your heads, noobs.

Sure he dumped at a loss...

Everyone who bought this shit got screwed...

Yep bought into it @ 1000 and now priced at 270ish. No demand to buy the coin and the op is laughing all the way to the bank.

You guys need to realize that a ICO + Newbe dev = high risk and 99% of the time, if your not the first to cash out right off, your left holding the bag. I hate seeing people lose money, but many warnings were put up on this, yet people bought it.

I would think it would be in the range of 50 BTC if not more. That is little over half the coins sold, and it was selling at a good clip. The guy ran off with 23 grand off you guys at least I believe. Not bad for a weeks work ... shit, if that is all that it takes to make money, I should launch my own shit coin, sadly, my morals get in the way.

You idiots are so stupid.  in 2 days, C-Cex will have to conduct a buy-back with the ipo funds, since this was a scam coin. C-cex holds them in escrow for 3 days, lol.  I am buying up all the coin at 300, and in 2 days, I'll cash it all back in at a refund for 1000 (ipo price).  LOL, x3 in 2 days with zero risk!!!

c-cex ico rules

ICO rules:
Must provide wallet/source so we can look it over and for premine transfer.
Provide coin Logo for listing
2 BTC Fee for hosting the ICO paid either upfront, or we can take the fee from the ICO funds at the end (your team's choice).
If in the event the ICO does not sell out you have the right to either refund investors or continue to launch and we can destroy the remaining premine.
Provided the ICO is successful after you release the wallets to investors (fully launch) after 3 days days of successful network stability we will unlock the account for ICO funds.
Due to recent scamming we can no longer vouch for a developer(s) as there is no way to prosecute an individual or team that abandon's the project anytime after the ICO/Pre-Sale closes.
Create a short video introducing yourself and your coin and explain the basic ideas behind it and why it could be successful.

You will need to create a C-CEX account specifically for this ICO. When we get the source we can build the wallet and have you transfer the coins to this account. Set the price yourself then tell us the account name and we will close it off till ico finishes and 3 days have passed with working wallets/blockchain.

This happens on bittrex, and every exchange every coin no matter if it's ico/regular coin or not is a gamble. Ocminer do you work for bittrex or another exchange? Did ccex fuck your mother or something? Every thread it's mentioned you talk shit about it.

Also legally i'm quite sure there are laws that prevent exchanges from releasing private info without permission...sorta puts a damper on witch hunts eh?

Guys, we did NOT run away with your money. We are still here and working on some new exciting stuff, an in-wallet shop is coming our way, that's almost finished.
We will also have an EasySend type feature and one more surprise that i can't reveal right now. Hold tight and please give us some time. Things are coming.

Dev needs to keep up the show for another day or so, for c-cex to give him the btc..then he's gone.

I've received the funds from c-cex! They are being used to fund development (they paid for this wallet features), and will pay for more stuff, I know we've been quiet for some days now but communication will be more frequent from now on.

He got tons of coins left from buying his own ICO. Beware.

Why would he buy his own coins and dump them under ICO value when he could have kept 100% of the BTC.
If he buy i guess it is because he intends to hold them, the only thing to "beware" of are the people dumping at a
1900% loss just because people FUD this thread.

to dump them at any available price.

We never went offline / run with the ICO, that's thread speculation and FUD. We are here and are doing our best to develop this.
It's also true that we are seeing a lot off people selling below the ICO price, but don't let the FUD trick you,  we are gonna develop and hopefully the price will go up.

EDIT: actually the first development should be ready today! Will keep you guys  posted.

C-cex use their own ICO terms, if you have a questions for them - ask them?

copy from SSD?
only change algo

Surely not. It's a fairly direct copy of Icebergcoin, including the clumsy cut'n'paste ...

https://github.com/darktoken/darktoken/blob/master/src/test/key_tests.cpp#L41

    for (int nCompressed=0; nCompressed<2; nCompressed++)
    {
        bool fCompressed = nCompressed == 1;
        printf("  * %s:\n", fCompressed ? "compressed" : "uncompressed");
        CIcebergcoinSecret bsecret;

Hey, thanks for pointing this out. We have fixed it and commited the fix to our github (https://github.com/darktoken/darktoken).
You seem a bit beleaguered. Do you need some help managing this? The codebase remains unchanged in this above respect: https://github.com/darktoken/darktoken/blob/master/src/test/key_tests.cpp#L41

The last activity was a 652-file commit (https://github.com/darktoken/darktoken/commit/a9d6d2d1813c5158139c2ed9fb047a02d75acc3b) which did nothing other than improperly set the executable filemode bit on a raft of source files and add a superfluous IDE config file as a final flourish. It strongly suggests either i) a lack of familiarity with the tools or i) the result of the dev's cat walking on the keyboard.

Quote
And btw, we choose Icebergcoin's code to be our base code because, after some weeks of testing it proved itself to be by far, the stablest code we encountered.
Then, given there's 100 BTC of other folks' money on the table, surely it's worth cleaning up the code and removing the inappropriate substitutions? Sort of like this: https://github.com/gjhiggins/darktoken

(I'm a little disturbed at what seems to be an increasing tendency to to favour publishing developed binaries, particularly Windows binaries, where the enhancements are not committed to the open source repository, obliging users to adopt what is effectively proprietary code. I note that the exchange tab in the screenshots is only available in the published binaries. To ensure that Linux users don't get left out, I added an exchange trading tab, filched from some development going on in icebergcoin's repos. It's hard-coded to use just Bittrex' JSON API but it does seem to hold promise. I was able successfully to add a Bittrex API tag and key which then enabled the Buy/Sell/History tabs. I'll leave the acid test to someone who actually holds DT.)

Cheers

Graham
