FML literally


I lost it dicing, i bet 8BTC at 87% win chance to win 1 BTC and lost it..

Now i have no money to pay my bills/rent. Why did i do it..... WHYYYY!!!!!!

I know that feeling bro, I lost a wayyyy bigger amount.

I hope you learned something from this, I really do, the amount of people that come here screaming about their losses from doing something stupid you'd think people would pick up that gambling etc. is a pretty bad idea.

Completely agree, this is just a learning opportunity. You made a mistake but you can correct it. Everyone has a multiple mistakes but they make it a learning experience.

That's not the right lesson. Everything in life is a gamble. You cant not gamble. If you put your money in dollars you are gambling on dollars. If you put it in bitcoin you are gambling on bitcoin. The lesson is MAKE SMART BETS. A mathematically demonstrable negative expected return on investment is not a smart bet. There is no way the scope of this problem is limited to gambling. It has to be a symptom of something else not the problem its self. There is no way that you could have tendencies that would compel you to bet on something that you know has a negative expected return on investment and have that be the only negative manifestation of said tendencies in your life. I would bet a million dollars on that and it would be a smart bet.

If you cant identify why you would make a decision that you know is bad on an intellectual level, than your life is going to be shit in general for 1000 reasons gambling only being a small part of it.

But im just some guy talking out of his ass. I dont have any fancy papers on my wall accrediting me to give this advise. So take it for what its worth. I would see a therapist, maybe he/she will be able to help you find the root cause of what ever is causing you to make decisions that you know are bad.

The really ironic thing about this is 8BTC is plenty enough to get into cloud mining and actually make a profit from it wtf? O_O how can people be this bad with money?

That's not even the punch line. You know what's worse? His wife is leaving him so he decides to keep on posting to a bunch of strangers online instead of talking to her. My guess is he's already blown his brains out and we're not going to see any more posts from him.

Nobody's wife leaves them just because they gambled away 8btc. They leave because there was an accumulation of bullshit that was just too much to stand and this was just the last straw.

That being said, post pictures of your wife's tits and I'll send you 0.05btc. You can EASILY turn that back into 8.

Same here. I was playing roulette on cloudbet like a dumbass. Turned 1btc into 3btc. Then I lost all those and dumped in 2btc trying to break even. The problem with gambling is that when you're up you think you've got some sort of golden goose. It's hard to quit that. When you're down you don't stop because you're trying to break even. It's not until it's too late and there's nothing left that the reality of the situation sinks in. Damn shame.

I'm being a dick because I think we're being trolled here. If I'm wrong then I apologize. I know what its like to lose. I've lost almost 100btc before. It's not a good feeling. If this guy lost his btc and his wife then I feel sorry for him. Even though its his own damn fault, I still feel sorry for him. The only way he could make it worse is if he kills himself. Then he's spreading his losses over to his friends and family. Best to just use this as a life lesson and bounce back stronger from it.

I can understand the paranoia because we've had a lot of begging threads of this nature with sob stories attached and they all claim they're desperate and have nowhere else to go despite being able to afford an internet connection. I won't jump to conclusions about his life or anything but I am waiting for him to start posting up donation addresses and start asking for Bitcoin.

Funny thing is, the moment you start questioning them for details and start trying to get them to open up more they immediately get aggressive and finally bugger off, just like real beggars now I think about it.

This is why I don't gamble. Even just gambling a little bit for fun can quickly turn sour and spiral into addiction. I've only ever bet a few times in my life and the highs and lows of winning are too extreme but losing always outweighs winning.

Thats why i hate Gambling,I choose not to gamble and I am Happy to keep what i didnt gamble :D

If you are referencing that to be directed towards America though it doesn't apply as the U.S.A. is a republic. Just thought you should know that. While the voting structure is certainly different, example of president can't win 51% to 49% for the electoral college and other various things. Although bills and voting for laws can certainly be won by 51% to 49% in the senate, it is not true in other areas.

Further, in a republic the very tiniest voice has a chance to be heard. Democracy(which bitcoin is) eliminates the tiniest voice and gives it to the majority(big miners).

So you kind of completely contradict yourself by having that as a quote if you believe in bitcoin but not democracy...

That's not quite what I'm trying to say with that quote. What I'm trying to say is that in almost every imaginable system there's a majority of something that can hurt you if it wants to. With Democracy, it's usually the population, but sometimes other things. With Bitcoin, it's the mining power.

The more subtle point is that there are not, and will never be "trustless" systems. There will always be a majority of something that can screw you if it colludes against you. The important thing is to understand precisely what it is that you are trusting, how much damage it can do to you, what its incentives are to betray you, and what you can do if it happens or is in danger of happening.

While I feel bad for your situation, I hope it's a good lesson learned.  Also, you could have lost a lot more, so count your blessings.  One must only gamble what they can afford to lose.  No matter how good the odds are, the longer you play, you will eventually lose it all.  Gambling can be fun, but it needs to be done in moderation.

Just take a look at Vegas, that place has been built on broken dreams and mortgage payments.


Could be showing signs of gambling addiction, and/or they got caught up in the moment. It happens.  Watched my buddy gamble away his condo, then his wife and kids.  It wasn't pretty.

Cheap lesson. I lost half of my stamp collection when I was 10 or so by betting on pool games. When I went home and told my parents, my dad looked at me and said "Tough shit".

That was the. most. important. lesson. I. have. learned. It's saved me more money than you can imagine in Vegas.

Actually if you're going to play, play craps. Real craps, not the fake shit online. Play dont pass/don't come, 1x odds.

Craps is the *only* game where it is impossible for the house to cheat.

What about shaving the dice?  They can always do that. Now I don't see any "reputable" casino doing this but I could definitely see it happen at smaller casinos. Even with that, the casino still holds the edge, even if its very small.  Might win in the short term, over time though, the casino will always win.

If they did, then the house would have an edge over the pass/come, although if they were rolling 7's it would be tough on the come-out rolls.

However if the balance did tip, it would mean that the don't pass/don't come people would have an equal edge. So everyone would play donts and kill the casino.

Laying Don't pass/don't come is the most even bet. Basically you're playing as the house with the only disadvantage that a 12 is a "push" on the come-out roll. That's about as close to proper odds as you can get. :-)

Bovada does the same bait-and-switch type method with their casino games. I would play roulette or craps and win a hefty profit. As soon as I switched to real money mode, I couldn't win another dime.
