If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then you should learn more about Creative Commons.

What is Creative Commons?

Creative Commons is a nonprofit organization that enables the sharing and use of creativity and knowledge through free legal tools.

Our free, easy-to-use copyright licenses (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/) provide a simple, standardized way to give the public permission to share and use your creative work — on conditions of your choice. CC licenses let you easily change your copyright terms from the default of “all rights reserved” to “some rights reserved.” (https://wiki.creativecommons.org/FAQ#What_does_.22Some_Rights_Reserved.22_mean.3F)

Creative Commons licenses are not an alternative to copyright. They work alongside copyright  (https://wiki.creativecommons.org/FAQ#How_do_CC_licenses_operate.3F) and enable you to modify your copyright terms to best suit your needs.

What can Creative Commons do for me?

If you want to give people the right to share, use, and even build upon a work you’ve created, you should consider publishing it under a Creative Commons license. CC gives you flexibility (for example, you can choose to allow only non-commercial uses) and protects the people who use your work, so they don’t have to worry about copyright infringement, as long as they abide by the conditions you have specified.

If you’re looking for content that you can freely and legally use, there is a giant pool of CC-licensed creativity available to you. There are hundreds of millions of works — from songs  (http://creativecommons.org/music-communities) and videos  (http://creativecommons.org/tag/video) to  scientific (http://creativecommons.org/science)  and  academic (http://creativecommons.org/education) material — available to the public for free and legal use under the terms of our copyright licenses, with more being contributed every day.

If you would like to see what kinds of companies and organizations are using Creative Commons licenses, visit our  Who Uses CC? (http://creativecommons.org/who-uses-cc) page.

If you would like to learn more about the different CC licenses, visit our licenses  (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/)  page.

http://i61.tinypic.com/33fddeh.jpg

Why CC?

The idea of universal access to research, education, and culture is made possible by the Internet, but our legal and social systems don’t always allow that idea to be realized. Copyright was created long before the emergence of the Internet, and can make it hard to legally perform actions we take for granted on the network: copy, paste, edit source, and post to the Web. The default setting of copyright law requires all of these actions to have explicit permission, granted in advance, whether you’re an artist, teacher, scientist, librarian, policymaker, or just a regular user. To achieve the vision of universal access, someone needed to provide a free, public, and standardized infrastructure that creates a balance between the reality of the Internet and the reality of copyright laws. That someone is Creative Commons.

What we provide

The infrastructure we provide consists of a set of copyright licenses and tools that create a balance inside the traditional “all rights reserved” setting that copyright law creates.

Our tools give everyone from individual creators to large companies and institutions a simple, standardized way to keep their copyright while allowing certain uses of their work — a “some rights reserved” approach to copyright — which makes their creative, educational, and scientific content instantly more compatible with the full potential of the internet.  (http://creativecommons.org/videos/wanna-work-together)  The combination of our tools and our users is a vast and growing digital commons, a pool of content that can be copied, distributed, edited, remixed, and built upon,  (http://creativecommons.org/videos/get-creative) all within the boundaries of copyright law.  We’ve worked with copyright experts around the world to make sure our licenses are legally  solid, globally applicable  (http://creativecommons.org/?s=court), and  responsive to our users’ needs. (https://wiki.creativecommons.org/License_Versions)

Creative Commons and Copyright Reform

Creative Commons believes that as revolutionary a concept as open licensing is, licenses alone won’t achieve our goal of a more inclusive internet and greater access to knowledge and culture.

Where we’re going

We build infrastructure at Creative Commons. Our users build the commons itself. We are working to increase the adoption of our tools, to support and listen to our users, and to serve as a trusted steward of interoperable commons infrastructure.  Read our policy statement on copyright reform. (http://creativecommons.org/about/reform)

Volunteer

Working alongside CC staff are a worldwide group of volunteers which consists of 100+ affiliates working in over 70 jurisdictions to support and promote CC activities around the world. These affiliates and volunteers are a vital part of the success of Creative Commons both locally and globally. If you are interested in getting involved where you live, then we encourage you to contact the affiliate in your jurisdiction.  A list of CC’s current affiliates can be found on the  Affiliate Network  (https://wiki.creativecommons.org/CC_Affiliate_Network) page. If no affiliate exists in your jurisdiction, then perhaps you could help start one.  (https://wiki.creativecommons.org/images/9/94/Introduction_to_CC_and_Affiliate_Teams.pdf)

Your support

In order to achieve the vision of a world full of open content, where users are participants in innovative culture, education, and science, we depend on the backing of our users and those who believe in the potential of a global commons.

Creative Commons is a Massachusetts-chartered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable corporation. For more information, see the corporate charter, by-laws, most recent tax return and most recent audited financial statement.

ICO

Our model for distribution is that the entire supply (80%)will be sold through our ICO which is being escrowed by https://i.imgur.com/vfiX3s1.png (https://c-cex.com/?p=crtv-btc) , apart from 20%  be generated through a short proof of work mining phase.
The goal of the ICO is to raise the funds necessary to pay for the varying costs that come with setting up multipools, hiring developers/audits for source, integrations, and various other goals we have lined up, coins will be put into payment for licenses to our customers.
Creative uses a  PoW/PoS system. PoW will end after block 10,000 and it currently only exists to provide network stability to the coin whilst it is in its infancy.
The premine block will be sent C-Cex, whom will host our ICO. 20 Million [20,000,000] coins will be available to purchase at a price of 0.00000700 per coin. Generally our long-term goal - acquaintance our future clients with crypto coins and simple use in everyday life.
Creative initial coin offering will be escrowed through C-Cex, using their new ICO rules, detailed further at https://c-cex.com/?id=ico
All 20 million coins will be sold off at a price of 0.00000700 BTC per Creative.
The ICO will run for 9 days starting on October 10th. The ICO will close on October 19th at 12:00 PM EST. End date ICO can be adjusted downwards.

Creative will be entered in the payment for the licensing of 1,000-10,000 coins. All coins are received from our customers for licensing will be eliminated in order to reduce their turnover.

I'm extremely suspicious, given that I always thought Creative Commons was an intellectual-property licensing structure that was free to use and open source.

Why issue a cryptocurrency? I don't see the relationship.

Dev/OP, can you prove you didn't just appropriate/borrow/steal/"fair-use" the content from creativecommons.org to use in this ANN for your own coin?

I have supported the real Creative Commons for years, so I'd be really, really pissed off if you were misappropriating that organization's name to develop a scamcoin for your own personal gain.

this is our head office in the references and the common name of the organization. each separate office in each country must comply with the general rules set out in the company, but in a single country (out of 70 countries in the world), we decided to introduce our customers to the world of crypto coins. It will not be a burden to their budget, but merely "symbolic" payment in coins for dating services crypto.

LAUGHING OUT LOUD. CC is free, and public, why would they have a ICO or even a cryptocurrency for something free like that? Just someone trying to make some quick dough, can't believe some people even bought some of it. Not to mention, that is the Chanel logo like others have said.

You gunsta git sued, sonny-boy.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chanel

You could've at least made something in Paint and that would've been more creative. Get it? Okay. I'll stop.

Greetings to all. Sorry for my bad english (I'm in the process of studying it) and that he could not answer earlier in the forum, were urgent matters. Let's get acquainted - my name is David Rubino - Head of Department of International Cooperation and Public Relations, Project Manager for Cooperation with Creative Commons. Our division has opened in the Republic of Panama. Cooperation agreement and obtaining certificates will be next week. Office site will also be ready for opening and all details will be posted on it. The above description, a link to the main site and what the company does, for those who know about. As many have noted already, the company is non-profit and does not put a priority for "making money", everything is free and voluntary. Although any branch in different countries, may hold shares and presentations for their clients, which do not contradict the general rules of the company. In our office it is also strictly enforced. We follow the progress and keeping up with him, decided to implement the idea of reference of our customers with the world crypto when you contact us. We are communicating with clients in the office, sometimes asking a question about Bitcoins and other coins, whether they know what it is? And many give an affirmative answer - no !, not even heard and have no idea what it is. (But many of those present at this forum for a long time are in this "disaster" and are already familiar with for months or even a year, with a direction. Frankly, I myself first learned about Bitcoins and other coins, not so long ago. And I liked the idea and ease of use. I will not describe all the things that you so well know yourself). Therefore, when you contact us for a basic service, we will carry out at the request of the mini-presentations to clients, expanding their knowledge in this area - crypto, through interaction with the exchanges (purchase and sale), no further payments and transfers of coin, so to speak - combining business with pleasure. It will be many interesting and instructive, but also it will not "hit the pocket" of customers, because $ 10-20 and not such a large sum, to gain experience in the use of crypto coins. In the future, these funds will be allocated to support the development of the company and the client receives a present <<< choice (https://donate.creativecommons.org/)  he coins by ICO will be presented at the request <<< choice (https://donate.creativecommons.org/)>>> and perhaps in the future even "earn" coins when you change course, and those who want to, I think there are many. Go ahead - logo. The main logo is correctly identified in the message  .... but if you open the browser and type in the request - the company logo, then you will be given a variety of options, as no reference to any basic. Everything is relative. I hope I have answered many questions and dispel some doubts. Ask questions, ask. But do not need to troll and write rudeness, respect the opinions of others and the community. Thank you all for your attention, your David Rubino.

If it was a currency that would pay you for Creative Commons work, providing a source of income to those individuals who choose to participate, that would be one thing.

But to say it's a CC coin and do an ICO - come on that's a scam.

If this project doesn't do that first thing you said, then someone should create something that achieves that objective if it's feasible. It sounds like a really interesting idea.

About the second thing: consider what part of the forums you're currently reading.

You yourself understand what is written there, by clicking on the link? We are not talking about financial transactions, in principle, because organization is not commercial. After reading many will understand that it is "advisory" Writing for the banks. Well, let's try to come up with another side of the issue - the company has a branch in   Syria  (http://arabic.creativecommons.org/) . And do not want to say that the activities of the office leads to sponsoring terrorism, and so on? Even give you one example - Exchange (bittrex, C-Cex Swisscex Mintpal etc. will not be many to list) who are not registered in Panama, and with a probability of 99% in another country and still many of us here there are commercial operations. And even the Bitcoin is "illegal tender" equated to "surrogate" systems and operations on them and would want to ban in many countries, but still it exists and develops community despite prohibitions regulators. Silly is not it, looks like your link is against this background? I could write and "reflect" on this topic and on, but I think in the sentences above, and so it is clear sense of what I wanted to say.

Thank you all for your attention, your David Rubino.

haha sounds like one of those emails i got that almost convinced me i won a large lottery

no reply yet  ???

I wonder if they are familiar with bitcoin terminology.  To an outsider, this question would not make any sense.

I was curious about this one for a minute, and then when I read "Republic of Panama" I was done.  Before investing your money, please read this advisory from FinCEN regarding financial transactions to Panama.

http://www.fincen.gov/news_room/rp/advisory/html/advis23.html

The FinCEN warns that doing financial transactions with business entities in the Republic of Panama is high risk.  I also know based on experience that investing in non-profits and ICOs are high risk as well.  It is my opinion that this "investment" is very high risk based on all of these factors together.

I wish you luck in your endeavors, but I will not be buying in, and strongly encourage others considering to do their own research and not invest more than they are willing to lose.  This has too many red flags for me!

I do understand that you have doubts about this, but to persuade anyone not going to - it's not my rules. It is enough that you kind of have acknowledged their wrong example given links, and that's enough.

Until Monday when I fully expect to have a response from "Creative Commons" in my mail stating they have no knowledge of your crap, would you please rerun that last statement of yours in Google Translate, as it would seem we are not speaking the same English.

It will not be a burden to their budget, but merely "symbolic" payment in coins for dating services crypto.

bull****
you need some pretty freakin strong proof for anybody to believe this.

We been promiced to show proofs of connection of this ICO to Creative Commons Panama office on it's opening.
Nothing yet, so I tried to contact main office and got no answer. ICO removed from exchange. Refunds will be issued today if no confirmation has occured.

C-CEX is not verifying developers anymore. There is POD and other ratings for that. We don't put "vetted" for a while already. This case - we been told this is real company and here is phone numbers and office address.

Apologies in case this is scam.
Sincerely, Yuriy, C-CEX exchange owner.

We had no response from Creative Commons on our several requests. ICO cancelled. All purchased coins refunded.
