We will bring quite a few innovative things to the table, that is for sure. Just one thing: we haven't been working on this for months. Real development has started about 2 ~ 3 weeks ago. We are working hard to make everything happen as fast as we can without compromising the high quality we want to achieve.

Thanks!

PoG - Proof of Geek. You get coins for everyday you go without a girlfriend or boyfriend. Talking to the opposite sex will cause a price dump. Staying home playing video games will cause a pump. Revolutionary, really.

Is that your coin?  But there is already a GameCoin.

I hope this isn't the case.

Ok, then maybe it's best to call it a gaming coin.  Cause calling it GameCoin is very confusing given there's already a GameCoin.

Cheers!

I follow him on twitter and he didn`t make any tweets about it , still working on it I guess

Yeah, I released the pre-ann early so I could reserve the name, thread, ticker, etc, and to give people a notion of what I was working on. Like I said multiple times in the past, I want to first make sure everything is 1000% before even releasing more info about it.

It shouldn't take much longer now tho.

Btw, just released the logo for the coin itself, you can see it in a good quality here: www.geekkos.com/logo.html
Hope you guys like it.

Thanks!

This part gets very interesting, it will be explained in details on the whitepapers :)

Please understand that releasing too much information before launch could result in vulnerabilities, like for an example other people stealing the ideas.

We are working a lot to see if we can still launch it this month, December. Depends on some things here being ready. If not this month, January for sure. It will be no longer than that. A date will be announced soon, everyone registered on www.geekkos.com will receive this information firsthand.

I hope that can ease some hearts and minds out there, heh, thats all I can say for now =] Thanks!

This is a useless coin. I can use Bitcoin and Darkcoin to play in some beautiful and consolidates services online. No smart people will invest in scam-shit like Geekkos. You're an amateur designer, not a dev. You should leave this shit project and return to make shit calls on twitter like GoalCoin.

If I am so insignificant, I still don't know why you're here then, heheh :)
You don't need me to mock you, you already have plenty of that in your own scam group 2.0 thread.

Just in case I didn't make myself clear, lets try it again: the beauty of the project is not in the wallet nor the technology behind the crypto currency in the beginning.

This (tech) already works great as it is. I won't be making a crazy new code behind it just to say that I'm different when in the end it ends up serving the same purpose.

Think about it.

What we actually need are ways of reaching the mainstream. Do you think most people ask about the credit card technology they use in their lives daily?
Do most ppl care about their Samsung or Iphone back-end code or do they just want to use some particular app through it?
They use it because it works, its simple, its fast, it gives them benefits.

Changing the code a lot to achieve the same kind of transactions would be just insanity. Don't you agree?

The Proof of Play software that we are going to make will focus on that. It will give a lot of benefits, for gamers and investors.
Read the whitepaper. It explains in detail what we want to build.

This project can be fantastic because its not going to be just a coin for speculation like many others. Its growth WON'T rely on the alt market nor the bitcoin market.
This wallet won't even be used after the software has launched since the software will be the main wallet.

There are more things to come this next week. Thanks for everyone that is supporting the project!
Sherlock

Donīt be rude! ...

whatever ... ok, so forget the coin-tech, you obviously had an answer for that up there...

so ... what is your experience with game-tech or software development in general?, How about organizing and budgeting? - Why should we risk losing our money on your project?

whatīs in it for us? is this something "the world needs?" - who are you, what have you done before - and what can you do? - and if you donīt deliver as promised - where do we find you, and how do we get our money back?

Iīm not trolling you - I really want all those questions answered before I move a penny out of my pocket - how do we know you can be trusted, why should you be trusted?

Fair enough. I was only rude because in my view you were being rude too, but if you were not.. then I give you a sincere apology.

Since you appear to be asking legit questions, I of course don't mind answering them. :)
I gave a nice introduction on the whitepaper, not sure if you read it entirely already. There are also a lot of pages on the Geek-Purchase-Agreement (you can find it in a link inside the whitepaper, section 3.1 ~~~ or in the crowdsale page on the "About & Terms" tab) which cover this project from a more legal point of view and give extra details, including a commitment from me to deliver the work, unlike many other sale-agreements I see from other coins that say they might never get it done. You can also find the Refund part there, in case we don't hit the success condition (80 minimum btc). I coded another field in the crowdsale script for this.

The "whats in it for us" is also explained on the whitepaper. I have a medium-term goal of reaching $1 per coin and I describe there how I plan to do that. The idea is to basically receive income from the Proof of Play software (ads), the sales from the digital store and the in-game sales. Thats why I also said this coin won't rely on the alt market nor the bitcoin market. I'm not sure if its something "the world needs", but I'm sure it can be something the world wants, a lot.

>>> Tell me who wouldn't want to earn money for playing games they already play on a daily basis? Specially if that software was given for free to them?

1 - My experience with games: it first starts from being a gamer since I was 5 years old. Its been 20 years and I have played a lot of games from the most different kinds. So this is that "from gamer to gamers" kind of project. I also did get involved in the past with scripting. I made scripts for Sphere, an emulator for the Ultima Online game, and acted as part of a staff for some servers. I still have some of those scripts I made, here on my computer. I also coded a very simple game in Fortran a really long time ago, but I don't have that anymore. Dealt with some web based scripts for games using php, javascript, etc and of course, used some RPG Maker, heheh

However, I will not be the one responsible for actually coding the game, I'll be hiring people for that with the BTC from the crowdsale, people I have already talked to and that are very interested in being a part of this project. They are just waiting to see if we can reach our success condition first. I'll administrate the course of the game, concepts, ideas, bug testing, and of course, work with the audio and web related stuff, since I was a professional musician/webdesigner for many years, still am.

The same thing can be said about the software development, I'll be hiring professionals I have already talked to for that matter.

2 - Organizing and budgeting: I did/do webdesign for a living. I had to organize and set the budget for a lot of jobs. This was one of my last big jobs as a freelancer: http://www.quartosbr.com.br/   you can read my name on the "Sobre nós / About us" page (Kadu Wallauer, Kadu is a nickname for Carlos Eduardo), that project was on a short budget and I delivered. It was made on top of a Drupal CMS but it was complex just the same and I coded a whole bunch of things from zero.

I was also working with a friend last year, joined his design company (Esparta Design (http://www.espartadesign.com.br/)) as a co-owner, invested money into the company, but left a while later for 2 reasons: I needed the time to pursue this project as my main job and my business partner didn't understand the tech behind crypto-currencies, nor did he see potential behind them. We ended up having very different ideas. While I was there I had plenty of organizing and budgeting activities. We even ran a big campaign for a political figure (a state deputy here in Brazil) in which besides working with designs, the website, video editing and prints, we had to manage employees and decide/make steps based on the client's available budget and ours.

I believe my trading experience with alts should also be taken into consideration, as I was able to make over a 10000% increase with the amount I started with in about 7 months. I talk about that on the whitepaper as well. I can back it up with logs if needed.

3 - About who I am: some people have been following me for a while on twitter. I helped some of them with trading and stuff several times and I believe some around here can vouch for me. I'm as transparent as possible.

If you want, you can add me on my personal facebook profile: https://www.facebook.com/kadu.w

Since I was a professional musician for quite some time, I was kind of a semi-public figure. I have some content all over the internet. For example, I participated with my band (Contra As Nuvens, now deceased) in the recording of a song from an old famous band here in Brazil. It was recorded in one of the best studios and by one of the top 5 producers this country has to offer (Rick Bonadio (https://twitter.com/rickbonadio) < twitter link ~). Here is the video (I'm the guy with the white hair singing): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNu9uaTNMQQ

I don't want to brag, but I believe not many devs and other people around the crypto community can say they have a video of their work with more than 500,000 views on youtube, if any. I also have some other videos like this recording from 2011 of me playing some Super Mario songs in a medley: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DF-gAvdPb-8

My address is being sent out in the Geekkos newsletter too. I probably wouldn't be able to run and hide even if I wanted to. After all that being said, I think I deserve some credit, right? :) I know I'm more than capable of running this project and I hope you might see that too.

Well, I think thats it.

Feel free to ask any other questions.

:)

80 BTC is enough considering the order we'll develop things. The idea is to be already generating income from the Proof of Play software even before the store launches. I'd prefer more BTC for the development, of course. More resources mean more/faster things for the project, plain and simple.

I'm already taking into consideration a margin for BTC's volatility on that 80 BTC assumption. IF, just IF something really disastrous happened to BTC, then we could suggest alterations to the Purchase-Agreement before finishing the crowdsale. Options like: giving the refund even if GEEK has reached the success condition / increase the minimum BTC target / drop the plans for the game (which would be the most expensive) and focus on everything else, specially on the software which imho has the best potential.

Any suggested alteration like that would need to be thoroughly discussed with the community/investors first, of course. I want it to be fair, It would need everyone to be OK with it. But realistically speaking, I don't think we will have that kind of situation.

Thanks!

Initially Bittrex at least. @Coins_e showed interest, we might talk to other exchanges later, if our community want that. Its written in the whitepaper that the estimated time for an exchange listing is just 4 days away from the end of the crowdsale. Pretty much after we distribute all the coins.

I have a question about article 3.3 in the whitepaper.

"First 10 WHALES (the first 10 to invest 10+ BTC) **
o All the above.
o Special diamond icon on your profile in-game.
o 2.5% of the project’s profit, related to the STORE, the IN-GAME sales, the PoP
ADS and any future product made by GEEKKOS!
This is NOT related to the BTC
acquired through the crowdsale."

Is that a lifelong guaranty?

Yes. :)
As long as we keep running and generating revenue, which is our idea, investors registered as that class will keep receiving that % of the profits.
I could just say "forever", but I really don't know what can happen with this technology in 100 years for example.
There are risks associated with this project, like any other, as you can read in our GEEK-Purchase-Agreement here for a more legal point of view: http://bit.ly/1BGLop0

I'm available to make contracts over the blockchain with people interested in receiving that gift/reward too.

We can establish contact through the email contact@geekkos.com
Thanks!

It should work almost like that, yes. I say almost because we might need to cover some server costs and stuff before dividing all the profit, get it?
But thats basically it.

You won't lose anything, don't worry, the blockchain is paused and its not supposed to sync right now. The wallets are just distributed at this moment so you can get your GEEK address.

It will sync once we start distributing coins.

Thanks!

They were kinda occupied with Sendchat and I wanted to launch it soon. Also, they charged for their service and I felt like I could do it on my own. Nothing against them tho, btcarchitect is a great guy and everyone involved with Blocktrust as well. :)

Just a little while after you deposit the btc you should be able to see it on the sales ledger here: http://geekkos.com/home/presale/
Usually takes one confirmation before that happens. If you are not seeing it there yet, try refreshing the page once more.

Regarding your first question, the idea is that after the crowdsale is over, if we succed with the 80 BTC minimum, it might take between 1~3 days to distribute all the coins. After the distribution phase is over it will be added to exchanges  (maximum 1 more day after distributing all the coins).

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
Thanks!

Obviously you're aware of the scam he pulled with BitBay...  I know how Ryan works and there's a very strong chance you're working with him.  So again, this will be nothing but a shitcoin with pumps around announcements that will never result in anything.

Buy, take your profits when they pump and never look back.

By groundless I simply mean that you don't have a valid point. I don't know him other than his twitter profile, in fact, I have never even heard before that he had been part of some scam or whatever. He was just behaving as a supporter from what I saw.

Furthermore, actions from other people unrelated to the project should be exactly that, unrelated to the project.
We have solid ideas and are working a lot to make this project a success.

I'm sorry but you won't be able to prevent that from happening. I know people around here are smart enough to know that your only intention is probably just to cause a dump after launch so you can get cheap coins, that won't happen, or maybe you just hate me somehow and don't want the crowdsale to be a success. You can't cause any damage by trolling with a not respected account here tho.

Thanks!

ATTENTION!!

We had to CHANGE a minimal part of the TERMS and WHITEPAPER today 02/10/15 RELATED TO THE REWARDS. This was made to comply with the law. Please check the rewards section again inside the whitepaper or terms. Basically now WHALES (what used to be the 10+ BTC investors) won't receive the 2.5% profit we previously had talked about. We figured this shouldn't be a problem since no whales had registered yet at the time of writing, and this will also make possible for Bittrex to list us later without any problem. Also, it got cheaper for investors to be rewarded/registered as a WHALE class (5 btc instead of 10) and there's a new class (3+ BTC).

Whitepaper updated: http://bit.ly/geekwhitep
Terms updated: http://bit.ly/1E5X86L

Thanks for your comprehension.

1 - 'penoze' is right, the sync continues after launch. The wallets are just there so you can get your Geek address. There's also a note in the purchase page explaining that.

2 - I can feel 'btcney' sarcastic tone about our terms change/update. If anything, that shows we are interested in having a future and that we don't want to face law issues. We are ensuring Bittrex can list us too and removing the 2.5% for big investors can actually be a good news for the project as a whole, since we'll have more free funds from profits to market-buy Geek later (up to 75% now, instead of 50%).

Its up, check again. Sometimes people have reported some instability with the website, I've seen it too. Usually if you try to refresh the page again after a few minutes it comes back. Its my host's fault, and they are not helping with the support at all. I have already decided that I'm going to host the website with another company, I'm just waiting for the crowdsale to end first, since it could be troublesome to put the site in maintenance or move the SQL in the middle of this.

Thanks!

Regardless of how long YOU have been around it doesn't mean you're not  working with scammers.  Look at what happened to BitBay...dzimbeck was much more known than you and that was a scam.

Fair enough, but like I said there's not a fact really "not to trust" and its the 2nd time you come here to mention BitBay. This is getting old. I also won't be surprised if the user 'Mewtwo' is just another of your accounts on Bitcointalk. Again, I'm very open about myself and what I'm trying to build.

Unless you have ulterior motives, you can do your risk assessment about the project and decide for yourself if you want to invest or just go on to other places. :)

Thanks!

The process has 3 steps:

1) registration - this  is where you let us know the following: your coin name, your thread address,
your leadership, and the individuals (including leadership that will makeup your team

2) qualifying - is where your team earns a minimum of 1000 points.

and

3) enrollment - the coin communities that are part of the coop.

Given that the plan interests you, I would encourage you to have a community discussion in this thread, start organizing your team for the endeavor, strategize so that you know who does what and are efficient with your resources, then take full advantage of this head-start and begin earning points.

Here is article #3 http://www.coinfinance.com/news/picisi-a-mutli-coin-community-crowdfuning-cooperative-plan

I'll give you give you head-start assignments to start earning points whenever you are ready, just let me know.

Monday I will start an ANN thread about the plan, there a large variety of opinion and perspectives can be shared on all matters concerning the plan.  Although I'm perfectly fine with addressing any question anyone may have, at this thread, about the plan.

One thing is for sure, this is a major deal that every coin and every person should do their best to make sure they are counted in.

Ok then, will think about that as soon as I know if our crowdsale will succeed.
Thanks :)

That appears to be the jquery library. To be sure, I compared it with the same version of the script from the jquery website, and both are identical. It has not been tampered with and can be considered safe.

Thanks Pantalaimon! Thats indeed a non-altered version of the jquery script, everyone can check :)

Btw, today is the last day for the crowdsale guys: http://geekkos.com/home/presale/ (http://geekkos.com/home/presale/)

Thanks!

Great concept, invested some BTC. 8) Best of luck!

Quick question: Will refunds be instantly if the 80 BTC isn't met?

Refunds can take between 24 ~ 72 hours if the 80 btc isn't met.
Although I'll try to refund as fast as I can.

Thank you for your support!

Our crowdsale has come to an end.

Do NOT deposit any more funds.

Too bad it didn't work out this time, Sherlock.
I'll be happy to invest again on a next launch because I still see potential in this project :)
Good luck with shaping up things with Geekkos!

Sorry to see it failed this time, I had hoped the project will start now.

In any case this is worth another try, but you'll need to be more prepared. More hype is needed. People like hype :). Well, maybe not like it, but surely tend to buy it ;)

On a different topic - is the info on "http://geekkos.com/home/presale/" correct? I have deposited some amount about a 1.5 hours before the crowdfund end, but I don't see my address/share in the list of buyers... Will I get the refund? Is there a glitch in the system?

If my share is somehow missed, there might be others too... Did system work correctly on the last hours of crowdfunding (the time when actually the most people bid)?

About the crowdsale, it was supposed to be working fine. Can you send us your deposit info to contact@geekkos.com so we can double check?

Sometimes the blockchain.info API can take a while to send the callback and transfer the BTC.
Thanks!

I also sent a small amount of btc hours before it ended didn't show up on the presale page as well. Sent you a Pm and also a email with deposit info.

Yeah, thanks, like I said, sometimes the API from blockchain.info takes a while. Not our fault. If you refresh the crowdsale page you can see that the Total BTC confirmed has updated already.

Everyone will be refunded correctly. :)

Quick question though; I've subscribed to the newsletter very early on shortly after the project was announced, however I didn't receive an email about the launch when it started. Did something happen to my subscription and do I need to re-subscribe?

Did you check your spam folder? Could be lost there :( You shouldn't need to re-subscribe at all. Try marking our email as a trusted sender :)

Yes, I have, and it's not there..
Was I supposed to get a confirmation email after subscribing? Never got one of those either, maybe I made a typo in my email address  ;D

Not a problem, I check this thread regularly anyways  ;D

You can read that in that link/note, but basically, we didn't reach the minimum BTC we needed to develop the project the way we wanted to, so we refunded everyone.
Now we are preparing ourselves so the next time it can succeed.

Just an update here: we are working a lot to present new partnerships, more people associated and working with us, more documents, more code, an alpha phase for Proof of Play to demonstrate its functionality in full (it will be ready to change to a functional beta) and we are reviewing other aspects of the project in detail, like coin specifications, interest rate, wallets, and especially the game.

We hope to launch our improved project not too long from now and we'll keep you guys informed.
If you want you can subscribe to the newsletter in our website so you don't miss important updates. We are against spam so we won't be sending emails unless they are really relevant. http://geekkos.com

Thanks!

Anyone want to by a real game coin?  Buy some blake.  No one cares about that one either though.  Yet anyway.

I understand you are friends with boxxa / smac supporter and just trying to cause some fud, won't work and I also won't stop working.
Some ppl were interested, otherwise we wouldn't have acquired 11.20 BTC. Next time it will be greater, I will make things GHC and HYPER weren't able to and have code for that already finished.

Thanks for your support!

I just wanted to make this official:

Most people know that already, but for now I decided to not continue Geekkos development. My life took a different course.
I'll let you know if this changes.
