Title: Thank you for participating in the scam test run.
Post by: I)ragon on November 08, 2014, 03:25:13 AM
Research results:

Bitcointalk.org community has developed a good sense of understanding the scams and hyips as and when they are advertised however convincing they are.

Awareness  9/10
Mod responsiveness 10/10
Trusted member responsiveness 7/10
How likely people fall to scams 15%

Good bye. :)

PS: Of course, I have no idea how to generate accounts.

I was going to leave the guy negative feedback, but they just changed the system so you can only do that if he scammed you personally, not if he only tried to. :(

It is just an example. You can add negative trust for trying to scam too.  ;)

The system is a joke. It doesn't stop them from trying to scam us. If they get banned/negrepped, they would just make new accounts and try again. Education is the best weapon against them. Educate stupid people not to fall for scams.

You can still leave negative if it's warranted. Someone who is blatantly trying to scam deserves negative not neutral. In fact, I'd still say someone who is very likely to scam a negative would still be appropriate.

If you leave evidence of what they've done other people will know what to look for, a scammer I dealt with came back after several months to try it again thinking that we had all forgotten about him a trust system definitely isn't useless.

Most complaints about the trust system were coming from people saying they got their account ruined without even doing something bad... I'm sure you already know this. Anyone from the trust list could send negative feedback, even because he didn't like someone. I give you the LukeJr-bipolarBob incident as an example, there are likely hundred more...

See that thread for a good outcome of how the trust system can succeed if it's abused.

do you think some "reputable" members of btctalk participated in some scams?
