So they said this was the NXT big thing, by far the best crypto 2.0 bla bla bla, I plow in this summer and what happens?  Bitshares doubles, Counterparty quadruples, and NXT? Only went down, 2 cents a fucking coin. 0.00004500 btc now. All time lows. Lost 70% of my money!

The price has gone up and down like a yo-yo this year and it's at a low. It's difficult to say if it will go up again or go down. Maybe if you hold it will go backup again.

Hold for sure, buy in more if you get the urge.........the thing with Nxt is that we have amazing technology, but not so very much marketing and PR.

As an example: CounterParty just doubled on the news that they will have a Smart Contracts implementation up before Ethereum.

This is just one example of the way that Nxt has a load of amazing 2nd generation features already up and running, but we're not playing the game of pumping Nxt like fuck just to get a short term price rise on the back of a hype announcement.

Pretty soon, all of this superior tech will become very obvious, and then we will see NXT prices rise (and maybe even skyrocket).
So, yeah, hodl. The payoff may be next week, may be 3 months down the line, but Nxt is a solid investment.

You can see from the blue price line on the yearly chart below that NXTs price is at a low point and has been over 2x higher (relative to bitcoin) a number of times. How will you feel if you sell and it goes back up 2x?

Tough question. On one hand it's good to cut your losses on a loser. On the other you sound angry, desperate and frustrated. The last thing you want to do is trade in that state of mind. That's how panic dumps happen. Then you'll be in a world of regret. You should have spread out your investments. (Not sure if you didn't). Also, it's good to sell when they're high (duh), instead of holding because you have love or faith that someday your coin will go up. If you really do love and support a coin then there's nothing wrong with selling and buying back lower. You create support that way.

Sell, it will go down more in the nearest future. Sell now not to lose more.

If this is true then how come SuperNet has gone down in price?  I own SuperNet and all the other assets they've been issuing it out and it continues to go down & down.  Somebody is cashing it out below its' IPO prices.  Same thing with these $hitcoins that James has been endorsing too.  To me it's starting to look like a pump and dump but don't quote me on it.

NXT is pretty much done as far as I can tell, not even StoopidNet can reverse the course.

Current marketcap's don't reflect most times the real value TaunSew. As a nooby you probably don't know. I'm not gonna blame you for that.

Even the price of bitcoin needed it time. People started using bitcoin on Silkroad when the price was about 10$. The price didn't moved up for a long time allthough strong fundamental data came. After Silkroad1 was shutted down the price of bitcoins started to skyrocket.

NXT till today allways delivered so it's aa easy long position. You need time for that. For the quick buck you should probably move to an another coin.

One of the important points about Nxt (that a load of people still don't get) is that Nxt is designed, not only as a crypto-currency, but also a toolkit to  to allow people to build stuff on a crypto blockchain.
It's the third party, targeted applications that will get the mainstream involved in crypto, not the hassle of downloading their own blockchains and setting up nodes.

NXT was the first IPO on bitcointalk and was open for everyone. Not many peoples were interested in it and didn't saw an advantage in a new code so only 73 people invested 21 btc in it. So a lot of people missed the opportunity and calling it now unfair. That's simply just FUD without having a legit argument against it.

After the NXT hype in the beginning of january a lot of people saw an opportunity to make Money with an IPO but NXT DID NOT made money with it.

But as a guy who registered in the beginning of this year can't know that. I'm saying it again: i don't blame you for that. Just do your own research and you will find out that you are wrong in your statement's.

Some people also invested only 20$ for 10k bitcoins. You can't blame people for beeing an early adopter. Everybody had the chance. You and me simply missed it but that don't mean it is not worth an invest.

Where do you get idea Bitshares doubles? It's fallen 2x in last month.

I am really surprised with your argument there. What do you think you are doing by doubling NEM total supply coin to 8 billion? Making the rich whales poorer?

Here's the thing. Cryptos are not your savings accounts. They're high risk investments - junk bonds even.
So only invest as much as you can afford to lose, and then hodl. You either get burnt hodling or, strike gold.
At least that's how I approach crypto.
That said, I do understand the anxiety of watching your investment plummeting in value.

Past month Bitshares has fallen but since the summer, August, it still doubled from around $20 million to now around $40 million.

Counterparty went from $5 million to $20 million.

However NXT went down from $30 million to $20 million.

For reference Bitcoin went down from around $550 in August to now $400.


The frustration is that if you bet on Bitcoin 2.0 this summer and selected NXT because of all the reasons why it is better than Bitshares or Counterparty, you were wrong. The latter went up a lot while NXT went down.

Both are now even valued higher as NXT, 6 months ago NXT was valued about 10 times higher as both and the 3th largest crypto.

There were some speech analysis which CFB offered some bounty for it. I think that is the one.

CfB is just being a troll and a bully but not at me but towards NEM.  Are we surprised this is coming from a coin which Jeff Garzik thinks is full of scammers?

   I have a lot of other coins where my percentage of that total supply is higher than my total share in NEM and I don't see him mention them.  It's clear that CfB is just trying to burn NEM and if I wasn't around then he would be doing some other avenue of attack.

It's difficult to have any meaningful amount of NEM because of the distribution to 3000 stakeholders.  This is in contrast to CFB who at minimum took 5% of NXT to an unknown larger amount.




His revelation was somebody's text analysis, he paid $1000 for if I recall (profit incentive), where the guy likely cherry picked the variables so he would get his money.  Only some sample (not the total package) was released and it said I could be UF but doesn't mean 100%.  This is just as bad as all those "text analysis" about who Satoshi is and the results are a dozen different people from all over the world.   There was other concrete evidence who UF was and it was clear I'm not him.  

This is the second time I've defended myself over this and I will not let it happen a third time.  If CfB continues about this then he could be on Krokodil.  I'm not going to defend myself for 4 pages because I know who I am and frankly don't care enough to entertain dorks.

Because it is unfair to ask people to invest heavily in NxT when it had nothing to show. The entire distribution design of NxT is unfair. A crypto shouldn't distribute their entire coin supply at day 1. That's unfair, I refuse to invest in any crypto that does that.

There should be a reasonable long distribution period, or an inflation schedule toward a final cap.

With NxT, basically anyone that didn't get in on day one, will have to purchase NxT from an early adopter, instead of simply buying from coin supply.

I believe this is the main reason NxT is often called a scam/unfair. You could look to Bitshare's distribution model for a fair distribution, the distribution was done over the period of several months, with half PoW distribution, half donation based. Also it now has an inflation schedule toward a final cap.

If no one is calling Bitshares distribution unfair, it is because: you haven't had enough success, haven't been around long enough to have multiple waves or users or there isn't much interest. Or some combination. You are still in a honeymoon period.

But Jeff Garzik's points about NXT are reasonable.

Garzik on twitter said he compiled the hashes and said it doesn't match.  I think the rest was allegations.

UP started trolling Nxt in January when he became upset about the distribution, this is the main narrative Taunsew tried to create for months using the same date. He tried to paint it as a 'surprise to the community' and a cause for the decline in price. Funny he mentions Come-from-Above as I believe that is also Taunsew's sock puppet. Come-from-Above only trolled NEM towards the end before quieting down again.


In a world of crypto and tor, you won't get solid evidence. Especially from someone who concealed their identities for so long (unless they make a stupid mistake of course  :D). But juries aren't asked to say for certain if someone is guilty, they are asked to consider if a burden of proof has been met. Beyond reasonable doubt, balance of probabilities. My own experience of UP in Jan and Tuansew since gave me the feeling they were linked. CfB's claim, his care and diligence in other cases (Bluemeanie), his conduct in crypto relating to transparency and the importance he places on his own reputation. This is more than enough for me. Well then you guys should brainstorm a distribution model which works better.   NXT case of handing over huge amounts to random people just leads to dumping.  Even NEMstake broad distribution saw decline like 60% from peak (not as much as NXT going from 90 to 18).


if we look at the list of coins then clearly the only winner in 2014 has arguably been Ripple, where most of the Ripple is held internally by a tiny small group who signed contracts stating they couldn't dump or sell.  In the real world a lot of initial stakeholders of things cannot even sell until a real IPO some 3-10 years down the line.

Bitshares marketcap is nearly 2X NxT, forum activity is roughly 2X too, so are you really calling NxT more successful?

If you did managed to give to all 7 billion people on the planet, you would then have to overcome the pareto principle to stop the above scenario happening.

I don't claim Bitshares to be of perfect fairness, but there's a difference between initial distribution of 76 people versus tens of thousands, plus Bitshares still have ongoing distribution for the next 30 years. I am saying the distribution of Bitshares is more fair than NxT. NxT distribution can nearly be called a scam. That's all.

You must be aware that UP, BloodyRookie et al were at Nxt at the start? The reason they left was ideological reasons (we're creating the 1%) etc. and it was quite emotional but after trying to get the 'unfair' forging algo changed to something else (0.5% max per coin per annum in the long term  ::)) they left to create the New Economy Movement with a "fair distribution". The language has now been softened to "fair opportunity for all" or such like since the reality set in of what this meant.

PoI should be ground breaking if it lives up to expectations which is a bit of a shame really, it feels like they have come full circle now.  Any moral high ground over Nxt during the spring fudstorms was sacrificed when UP/TS exposed himself. Nxt and NEM devs together would have been formidable, big shame.

I think it will take some time, NXT has an interesting approach for a currency, a lot is done to substantially increase the value of the network.
They work continuessly on developing and the way I see it, they lack marketing and a way to simplify what they do to the average investor.
I mean, NXT is pretty broad, but people gather around new exciting technology, and to show that I think they are one of the few currencies whom have survived from creating their own forums and community without bitcointalk, which in itself is a feat.

I am not buying NXT now personally but I think it's one of those currencies that will stick around for a while.
I'll just wait until there is a simpler way to grasp the whole concept of it, because if it's good, then I know others think so too and can fully comprehend it!

I thank UP very much, he is the guy that got me into Nxt. Over the last year, I read and participate a lot on Nxt forum. I'm very happy to be part of the Nxt project.

All I can say is that the people in the Nxt community are awesome. Everything is getting delivered, of course it take longer than first anticipate, but for a decentralized community the progress so far is awesome.

NXT  has a lot of infrastructure right now, more than most coins.

People made that kind of money on NXT? That's incredible. Can you back that up?

Yup, the founder BCNext sold all the NXT over a period of 2 months here in this subforum (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303898.0) to 72 people who payed in total 21 btc, when btc was valued around $100. 10 to 20 people payed the maximum allowed amount of 1 btc, and received each 50 million coins (the total was 1 billion coins to be distributed).

So these people invested $100 for 50 million coins, that they received somewhere in November 2013. The price exploded the month after once the software was released and NXT started trading on the first exchange, dgex. 2 months later 50 million NXT peaked out at a value of $5 million, today it is worth still $1 million.

From nothing to multimillionaire in 2 months is what happened to around 20 people. All the other 50 people that invested on average say 5 times less, 0.2 btc/$20 also made $100k each!

Lucky bastards......being honest, I'm mildly jealous of the initial Nxt stakeholders.

But there's a couple of points to make: most of the Nxt whales have been very generous in supporting Nxt and its development.
That is the reason that we can pay the salaries of a serious dev team, while at the same time remaining independent of any big corporate investors. The guys who control and finance Nxt are the Nxt community, not outsiders.

The whales have also proved, time and again, that they are in this for the long term, not just for a short term pump 'n' dump, so the big Nxt accounts are in safe hands.
Though, sadly, not in mine..... ;D

Like someone said above, Nxt is going to be celebrating it's first birthday very soon, Nov 24 2013 was the day Nxt blockchain went live......

Paper gains in the main. If anyone tried to cash out those amounts in full then it would've cratered. Trading volumes are painfully thin compared to mined coins. That's not to say it doesn't provide a very nice ongoing drip feed though.

Counterparty seems to be going back down now after hitting it's ATH. The price was really low last summer and there were false stories the devs were abandoning it. NXT will probably be pumped again, and if it happens I expect counterparty holders will be complaining that NXT is pumping while counterparty is falling.

(un)fortunatly nxt has the highest ratio of users, interested in advanced, reliable and usable crypto tech, means
the price comes at second. i guess this doesn't match your needs, so in your case i recommend to sell.

yes, a valid question. nxt has seen several times such countereffects and it's strange to see
how uncorrelated price vs news within nxtsphere is. imho the reason is the external reach of
these services. there is no doubt (provable), that nxt is the most complete and best equipped
crypto platform currently available but there is a lack to transport this and more important
to form/create and finaly bridge this tech into real world (mass-adaptable) services.

the good message is, that serveral keyfunctions (just look at the tech tree) are released soon,
which are needed, to create exactly these kinds of services. just a matter of months, not years.

As you can see by the poll. Most people are brainwashed into thinking it's a 'shitcoin' thus there is little buying support for it at the moment

For nxt to grow and skyrocket, first you must convince the big whales to loose their faith in nxt. Either by making them think nxt isn't getting any higher or make them think nxt is doomed.

If you can't convince the whales to sell off, then you will only expect slow growth. that is exactly what is happening at the moment with nxt.
Them whales are too damn confident with nxt! They are only selling high or not selling at all!

i'm down 50% as well and i'm still confident it will gain back more than my losses.

The reason for my posting is the dissapointment about NXT.
I invested a lot in NXT when I started off with bitcoins and so on.
Now I have a big loss because of my believing in NXT's future.
Maybe you have overseen it when you went trough my old posts. I had a special affinity to NXT before I gave up.

...and obviously relying on no one else checking you post history  ;D I suppose you could argue you have a vague warmth towards Nxt (and 3 or 4 other coins), only in posts promoting NEM first of course. After starting your account to get your stake in NEM, a fresh noob out of the blue.... You crack me up  :D :D :D  :D :D :D

Anyhoo enjoy NEM, the big day is soon.

yes, but this won't happen overnight. Whales need to attract a lot of ordinary people so that they can sell them their coins. And this will take a lot of time and there must be some kind of "hype"
