Title: BITCOIN Stolen!!! Post by: casperround on December 05, 2014, 11:55:55 AM Hi all, after having 120 Stellar stolen from my account (I wasn't too pissed) But now after finding my blockchain wallet had just been stolen of 0.8BTC, I know its not allot, but its allot for me mining after 4 days.
I don't know what to do, but I have a feeling in me that want's me to get that douch back. His address is: 191kaUxubgGEtvakBUo39FZU7ZguQp1ipw Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! Post by: Furio on December 05, 2014, 12:21:47 PM Everybody new in crypto experiences this one way or another, if the scammer is smart, you won't find him. Cut your losses and store your bitcoin cold, if not cold with a lojng and random password :)
Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! Post by: casperround on December 05, 2014, 12:27:01 PM By storing it cold, is that in the Bitcoin Client Wallet? And is there any way I could try to track them?
Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! Post by: bitkilo on December 05, 2014, 12:40:37 PM There really is nothing you can do to find the thief wihout a lot of hard work, if even possible.
Do you have any idea on how they got in? Did you have 2fa, if so what type? If you really dont know start fresh, could be keyloggers and it will just happn again. Someone said cold storage, good idea but you shold be able to keep 0.8 btc on a hot wallet and sleep ok with just the security provided by those wallets, 2fa, sms, ect. If it makes you feel any better OP, check this one out: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=875805.0;topicseen Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! Post by: casperround on December 05, 2014, 12:50:00 PM Well I used the Blockchain Wallet app that generates a key every 30 seconds, as well as my 40 character password.
Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! Post by: bitkilo on December 05, 2014, 01:10:02 PM Well I used the Blockchain Wallet app that generates a key every 30 seconds, as well as my 40 character password. I haven't used the blockchain app so dont know what app it uses to generate they key but it sounds like a type of 2fa, did you only have it set for log in or also when any amount is to be sent from wallet?Another member who has used blockchain app might be able to help you more. Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! Post by: casperround on December 05, 2014, 01:12:15 PM I think I used it only for the default settings which was logging in.

They will not get away with this, they have 1000+ Bitcoin in their account. So I'll have some fun ;) Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! Post by: Furio on December 05, 2014, 03:36:24 PM Most of the time when btc get stolen, it's an online wallet, those sites are prime targets, keep them on a offline computer next time :)
And eventhough you found an IP, how are you gonna use that for fun? Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! IMO destroy the harddrive after you have back ups of your wallets. Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! Post by: pandalion98 on December 06, 2014, 01:16:17 AM What's up with blockchain wallet? I hear people getting their wallets hacked there.
Is it Blockchain.info? EDIT: just found out. blockchain.info. Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! Post by: guitarplinker on December 06, 2014, 03:20:41 AM Did you ever use Blockchain over Tor? There were some exit nodes that were stealing wallet logins awhile ago.

Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! Post by: Kprawn on December 06, 2014, 07:15:02 AM The service provider will most probably be able to help you, to identify the thief.
It depends if they using DHCP or static IP address allocation, but in both cases, you should still be able to link it. Question is, will the ISP give you the information? It's a paying customer after all. >:( Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! Post by: goozman96 on December 06, 2014, 08:31:20 PM If you used TOR to access your blockchain wallet, then that's how it most likely happened. Blockchain has responded by creating their own onion domain: https://blockchainbdgpzk.onion

But with any amount >5BTC it is always adviced to move the funds to cold storage. Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! But with any amount >5BTC it is always adviced to move the funds to cold storage. thats just a good habit as well. i mean in general, its something that most should practice. I myself, started doing this, even if its .1 btc so i can put my mind at ease. Its just unfortunate for most who get introduced to bitcoin, that online wallets are convenient so they think its all good. Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! After hearing about these problems with blockchain.......would it be safer to move >5 bitcoins to the localbitcoins wallet. I haven't heard many problems there. Could that actually be safer?

The best solution for storing btc would be a wallet on your PC,my suggestion is to use electrum or multibit wallet. :) Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! No moving it to localbitcoin online wallet would not be safer at all, it's worse. Not only have these been hacked in the past your handing over the security of your coins to them. Now im not familar with localbitcoins wallet but i know it would never be as safe as ofline storage with 0.05 btc in hot wallet for daily use. Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!! Post by: luciann on December 15, 2014, 04:59:34 AM is there a tutorial on how easy it is to send your coins to a cold wallet? i been searching this forum and cant find a legit source.

I think the future of bitcoin will likely involve many/most people storing their bitcoin on third party services as many people are not capable of protecting their private keys in ways that companies like LBC and coinbase can Title: Re: BITCOIN Stolen!!!
