Yes, it is a device you connect to your computer through your USB port. The wallet doesn't hold any bitcoin, it protects private keys. As it is a HD wallet, it can derives an infinite amount of address. So there is no limit of what you can do with the Ledger Wallet.

The device is certified EAL5+ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evaluation_Assurance_Level), meaning it has been semiformally designed and tested.

this is indeed a good program , if it offer a free ledger wallet for the sig campaign, it could be very much better :)

what if the USB is lost ? all the money gone ?

It doesn't hold a bitcoin but only protect a private key

In case of loss of the wallet, you can recover your seed (and your access to your bitcoins) thanks to a 24 words paper backup.

Just small part of all BTC users are very sensitive to wallet security, and they already use something  ;D The same as with E mail security - people are not interested.

Is there going to be compatibility with smart phones in the future?

We are working on NGC and BLE prototypes, which will be also compatible with iOS and Android.
Release is expected in ~6 months.

Looking forward to it. I don't think there is any hardware wallets compatible with smart phones at the moment.
