Silly me bought more over $100.

Pity I didn't get the chance to cash out over $1,000. Oh wait...

Congratulations you forced me to bring this account out of hibernation.

No-one's moving on believe me. There is plenty of money waiting for the right price. It's just that this is nowhere near it.

This week there were other ways to make money like selling Rubles against the dollar on leverage. Even shorting Bitcoin was never going to match that. Hell the whole US stock market just saw its biggest one day gain of the year.

Investors, traders, speculators, ETFs will join in the next bubble. Fanboys will keep the price from zeroing though.

There will come a point where the perfect mix of widespread acceptance, clear regulations and mature infrastructure will make the price look a steal. I suspect we need to see Bitcoin 2.0 before then. I don't believe another cryptocurrency will steal away Bitcoin's thunder. That's 5 years of work and drama to get where we are now. Then you will see a spike like no other. When will that be? A couple of years away perhaps. Just be ready and don't miss the boat.

Disclaimer: I currently hold no crypto for the first time since 2012. I have my target price for Bitcoin though.

Was convinced of the long trend at 525 and bailed. Still keep a half btc just for fun.Back to stacking PMs while the market flys. We are only a Carrington event away from all crypto going poof.  July 23, 2112 was close enough to convince me.

Not gonna happen, bitcoin can't go below $100 again. One day bitcoin will once again rise to all time high and we will be exalted. if BTC truly topped out at $1200 and will never go any higher ever again I will go back to crude trading.

Your price of $100 -> $211 profit per bitcoin.

Yes too bad for people who bought over $100...even those at $101.  ::)

I wonder too (about the tulip mania comparison).  Over the years I have noticed this forum displays a vast range of IQs.  Bitcoin has few similarities with tulip bulb mania.  It is also not a Ponzi scheme and never will be.  Depending on how things end, there may be "bag holders" but that does not make it a Ponzi or Tulip and the bag holders are more likely the aforementioned for reasons other than the brilliant and sound invention we call bitcoin.

Odd how the simple folk fixate/perseverate on a single similarity and make up their minds (e.g. rhinos are gray; this elephant is gray.  This elephant must be a rhino).

The bubble comparison is very relevant. 2014 is ending and BTC under-performed every asset class in town. Even the Argentine Peso. It's memorable

Why do you care? You don't have any btc. You haven't been here long enough to have bought for under $100. If you started mining when you came here you spent way over $100 each in equipment cost. So either you're a total dumbass making fun of yourself or you don't have any btc. Think about this: If you don't have any btc and you don't really care, you're masturbating. Can I get you some Kleenex?

Tulip mania?!!  I thought Bitcoin was actually a known Ponzi Scheme???

http://i.ytimg.com/vi/0UKC7iaBKvs/hqdefault.jpg

I kid, but seriously if Bitcoin fell to sub $100 levels, that thing would spike up like no tomorrow with all the believers here in this forum.  The permabulls, bullwhales, and speculators would all go all in in getting some cheap coins, myself included.

As long as the technology and ecosystem continues to grow, don't worry about the price.  It's deflationary by nature, it's rose throughout it's history, it'll pop back up sooner or later.

I am predicting a huge spike in early 2015.  right now there is a lot of miners selling more than usual to maximize their year end revenues.

I would find that unlikely, I'd find it more likely that it's just private holders doing a lot of Christmas shopping.

Yea keep watching the price to rate the value of bitcoin  ;) {You might miss the gem in it's use}

People who use remittance already get hundreds of $ in savings, from using BTC

People who buy from merchants using BTC save hundreds of $ in fees, and the same goes for merchants, using the currency as a payment method.

It is natural that you would see a drop in price, when mayor retailers like Microsoft or Dell enter the scene. {Lot more coins are being used from hoarders of BTC to buy products on offer, and to make things worst, is these merchants and retailers only enter the scene to convert it back to fiat}

They want more sales and then they accept the currency, but they need to pay their overheads in fiat, so they just dump more coins back onto exchanges, pushing the price down.  >:(

Mining is a serious business.  Businesses always seek to maximize quarterly
and annual profits on behalf of their shareholders.

Most are privately held so not slaves to the quarterly cycle. i.e. they can set longer term goals without getting sued for not propping up this quarters numbers at the expense of having any future.

Somewhat true I think...still, even most
private companies aren't owned by
one single person.  Partners and investors
still want to be paid.

Anyway its all just speculation.

Yes I love threads like this, believers are disproved in less than a month or 2, the disgruntled non believers think they are right because they disproved the FHPers (FHP = FALSE HOPE POST) Oh lord, once 1/4 of this community begins to understand trading and how it works, and the bitcoin developers get off their ass and ceate a real demand stronger than its tradable value, this back and forth all year long between the FUDers and FHPers will never go away.

My thoughts bitcoin will see below 200 if it hits below 100 good luck, because it takes the chance to be destroyed before it has a chance to bounce back. Anything lower than 200 bucks a coin makes it completely non profitable to mine PERIOD, without miners you dream fades away. For you idiots who are gonna say well the bigger mines are gonna keep going, you stupid if you think that. if a small 1 machine miner cant mine without a profit and pay their bills what the hell makes you think a farm with 2000 machines can? they still have electric to pay. And if you seriously think these big farms keep huge portions of coins You even more stupid than I originally thought, we mine coins to make money, not because we are doing something usefull to bitcoins, we do it to make a profit. And if you honestly think the bitcoin developers are sitting on 20 PHS of mining power again your an idiot, they are not that smart, they cant even secure a demand for their coin, what the hell makes you think they were smart enough to secure it transaction processes.

I put half a million into bitcoin when it was at $650 and I'll put another half million into it soon .. I'm hoping the price drops to below $300 first :-)

Buy low, sell High = Make huge profits.
To really win big you need the courage to go against the crowd, when big moves have been going on too long.

That is not a good trading strategy HAHA, your strategy could have you flat broke or hedged out of your portfolio in days. :) dont go against or with the crowd do your own due diligence and make educated trades, thats how I was so profitable in the forex market, i didnt follow anyones advice or not follow anyones advice I did my own thing. I have 380 consecutive wins on trades by doing my own work and following NO ONE :) and that was before I cashed out to get into bitcoins :) And my wins are not your investment firm wins of 0.01 volume, my trades were 1 to 10 volumes at a time.

Soon the great btc tulip mania is over  :) Bitcoin going under 100$ and never going back up where it was  :)
Leaving believers to believe, traders, investors and corporations moving on  :)

To be honest with you I am begging for the price to go under $100.

It is the only way I can acquire some  :-\
if it goes to 100 hundred it might fall to 10 also

Even better, I will get them cheaper  ;D

The cheaper the better :)

bitcoin is not going to touch 1XX
it will go to 2XX and after that there will be a rebound
Based on trading history of bitcoin over the past few months, there seems to be very strong support around the low $300 level; once it reaches this level it tends to rebound strongly to the mid 300 level when it generally will start to fall again

Bitcoin has way too much money invested in it to fail so quickly. Worst situation, the price will fall a bit more and there WILL be a pump. People have invested way too much in BTC to just let it die this way. That inevitable pump will be for the big whales to cash out and cut their losses (if at all it happens). Chinese industries practically run on bitcoin, without bitcoin there would not be any asics and chips for them, which means plenty of folks in China going jobless. If nothing, China will prop up bitcoin just to ensure that their industries don't crash and people are left without jobs. I still think there will be a pump, when and how is anyones guess!  :D

Anything lower than 200 bucks a coin makes it completely non profitable to mine PERIOD....

Bitcoin will NEVER hit 10,000 dollars a coin so forget it !!! Its never EVER going to happen, it is not possible :)

I assume you're trolling but obviously wrong on both.

Bitcoin will always be profitable to mine by someone,
as long as there is some kind of demand for the coin.
(because of difficulty adjustment)

Also, it is quite possible for the price to go to $10,000
and beyond.  The market cap at that price would be
$120 billion, which is arguably not even that high
for a "global currency".

As long as people are willing to trade BTC for some amount of USD, we know that BTC are worthless.

lol... US Dollars aren't exactly worthless.  If I gave you you
wheelbarrow full of cash, I'm pretty sure you'd take it.

Place orders right above $310 just like everyone else smfh  ::)

This is why nobody makes money, you see the run & then start buying instead of buying the dip
