1. Find a good CPU minable coin.

2. Mine it & Dump in the market against BTC.

3. Hold the BTC for an year at least.

haha that's good one ;D

Only mining is not profitable. You also need to learn how to be a good trader.
If your computers have "Nvdia GPU" then you can mine X11 coins, they're also profitable. (I suggest you to mine DRK)

Several years ago someone who was working for some school district was actually CPU mining bitcoin with the school that he works at's computers over the summer, he apparently made several thousand dollars worth of bitcoin at the time (it would probably be worth a small fortune now).

Someone mentioned the possibility to mine a CPU mineable altcoin, however I don't think this would generate very much revenue as others would already be doing this

Sounds like your primed to mine some primecoin.  Is it profitable?  Not unless you have free electricity.  Doubt there are any CPU coin's that are actually profitable if electric isn't free @ present.

You can set them up and servers and sell them at the digital goods section. Mining would significantly reduce the computer's lifespan, therefore it may not be a good choice.

actualy thats a great thing, i allways make sure my hardware dies or becomes in some way unusable before warranty expires, and then ask for replacement.
this is the best with gpu-s, just stop fans for couple of hours on idle load (so it doesnt overheat) , and fans will die, and since noone replaces fans, u get new gpu from store,
atleast its like that here.

cheers

Right, CPU mined coins are definitely the way to go. But you should dump them right a way once they are mined.
Altcoins tend to have short life.

It would be pretty impractical to destroy 100 computers then send them for repair and get them back, you would need to set it up again. You won't know if they can be replaced or not.

Find a way for them to individually access the internet and then join some of the highest paying faucets. Then use the referral option and build a referral network.

If you use 3 x faucets for 8 hours a day, you will Net +/- $25 per week.

You will have to run between 100 pc's for 8 hours straight, solving Capthas.

Subtract the electricity Bills and take the $50 profit at the end of the month and enjoy your FREE money.  ;D

*Joke - Not to be taken seriously.  :P

Selling those computers for bitcoin may be the best option. :)

If these are yours to do with as you please, including selling them, then your best bet is selling all of them either bulk or 1 by 1 for like $400 or $500 each, since you said they're decent spec.

If you sold 100 pc's at an average of $500 per computer, use this $50,000 to buy Bitcoin, you'd accumulate 220 BTC.

That's more than any mining or service you could ever provide.

You are seriously going to degrade the performance of your computer. Your CPU/GPU would be consuming more power with the possibility performance degradation when users are using them.

What counts as a computer these days?  Phone?  Tablet?  What about an hp 380dl g6 fully loaded or a dell c6100 with 48GB ram in each node?  I probably have 40 computers at my house and another 20 at my office building.  I imagine there are so many more latent CPUs than those bravely advertised in this thread.  The best thing about stone soup is that it feels free when you get your bowl filled.  The power we hold in reserve is a metaphor for humanity today.  We are the nascent spout emerging.  Be the sprout or the retentive membrane.  Sprout will emerge; membrane will burst.  Be brave, people.  The world is changing now and those who hide today may barely survive in the cracks of the future.

Try Litecoin mining. (Using GPU).

Suppose you are having good GPUs, which give you a hash rate of 600 KH/s. According to the latest calculation, you can earn 42.21 LTC every month, and 513.88 LTC per year.  ;D

You might want to search for a promising coin that could rise in price in a span of short time. Mining an altcoin in its infancy is a great way to snug a hefty amount of it and dump it in the market whenever you feel that the price is right for your expenses. Mining bitcoin straight is not a good idea, so mining altcoins is a nice opportunity for you to get some pretty good profit, given that you have some computing power to use.

Litecoin mining is dominated by ASICs nowadays. Although 100 GPUs is a lot of power, it would probably be more profitable if he chose to mine a CPU or GPU coin instead. For a list, check out:

http://www.cpucoinlist.com/

To find the most profitable coin to mine, he could use the calculator on Coinwarz (http://www.coinwarz.com/). Then he could convert them to BTC using an altcoin exchange such as Cryptsy.

try to use your 100 computers in distributed computing (like boinc) in science and make the world better ;)

There are coins which reward you for contributing to distributed computing projects too. For example, you can earn gridcoins by contributing to BOINC projects such as Rosetta@home. Curecoin and Foldingcoin (built on top of Counterparty) work in a similar way except they use Folding@home which is more popular.

Why not just focus all that power on Seti@home? or even better the other one, the protein folder one, forgot the name.

Right, CPU mined coins are definitely the way to go. But you should dump them right a way once they are mined.
Altcoins tend to have short life.

Of course, this can backfire too. Those who mined Dogecoin in the first few days after launch or Darkcoin back when it was worth pennies would have made a very nice return on their investment if they had simply held onto their coins.

Why not just focus all that power on Seti@home? or even better the other one, the protein folder one, forgot the name.

You're probably thinking of either Rosetta@home or more likely, Folding@home. SETI@home is a BOINC project so you would be able to mine Gridcoin at the same time. For a list of BOINC projects, click here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkeley_Open_Infrastructure_for_Network_Computing) and scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Which alt coin is best to mine at gpu with nvidia card? I btc is now not profitable to mine with gpu. But can any one tell me which alt coin is profitable with gpu....Im using free electricity so remove this factor also..
Use coinchoose.com. However, note that nvidia cards are not that optimized for opencl calculations and AMD does a far better job at this. If you really want to profit, try selling your nvidia GPU for a AMD one and build a low end computer with that GPU.

Thanks for the site! You can see a brief description on the AMD > NVIDIA here (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Why_a_GPU_mines_faster_than_a_CPU#Why_are_AMD_GPUs_faster_than_Nvidia_GPUs.3F). GeForce GTX 690 is the best NVIDIA GPU out there.

I have 100 computers with good specs and internet 24x7 online at my disposal.I know mining wouldn't be possible. What is the other best way to monitize may be computational power or storage rental like storj.Kindly suggest.

Why is mining not possible?

Yes, Bitcoin mining may not be possible. But if you have decent GPU or CPU power, you can always mine alt-coins and convert them to Bitcoins.
With 100 good spec computers I'm sure you'll earn decent amount of BTC.

Many alt-coins support CPU and GPU mining.

What electricity cost per kwh do you pay where you have them, if you have very low electricity cost it could be profitable to mine coins on some algorithm that is made to be resistant for asics so do the math and check on comparison sites coins with unstable price &/or difficullty might sometimes be profitable to mine for you even if the avg state is not.

100 computers, What is the specification of each stuff?

I personally think, You will not get anything if not optimized or not prepared carefully.

Perhaps, You can run a distributed media transcoding service  or Distributed 3D rendering service in order to make more money including BTC.

P.S

Last May,2014. I used to ask if there is a solution for saving space, without sacrifice any performance ,long-term use, easy to replace, high safety factor(Flash point should be at least 240 degrees C). I have asked many people, MMM shows me modified Ethyl (Actually labeled as NOVEC 7100) can fulfill the thing.

In February 2015, Why some cloud distributed services slow down? It is because of using wrong method to run their service. Currently only few people have been using modified Ethyl solution in order to speed up with limited space...

It's astounding to see all the people with access to a lot of computers and effectively free electricity. I guess many people don't realize they're stealing other people's electricity and also wear-out their hardware by using it to mine cryptocurrencies!

Thats true. I guess not many people care about it. They get the resources for free, and waste them as they are free.

Have a look at FoldingCoin: Mine Medicine, Not Hashes
http://foldingcoin.net/

With FoldingCoin, you're helping in Protein Folding, and you also receive FoldingCoin as reward.
You can always trade them for BTC. It would be better than directly mining BTC or anything else.

1. Find a good CPU minable coin.

2. Mine it & Dump in the market against BTC.

3. Hold the BTC for an year at least.

Good advice, he should be able to make some BTC if he doesn't have any maintenance costs.

Before the OP can sell, rent out, mine, use these 100 PC's etc, it hasn't been determined yet what are the terms of the lease or ownership question.

If he strictly administers, supports, or oversees these units, then there could be some consequences if the true owners comes forth and wants to use it for other purposes.

Don't think this point has been addressed yet.

If he doesn't pay for electricity, he should still mine.

I am sure he doesn't own the place or pc's themselves ,so lease or rent or sale is out of the question. But he has full access to them,so mining is the answer:
coinwars.com and look for the lowest difficulty cpu coin.

He needs the cpu coin with the lowest difficulty / reward.

Are you an IT supervisor or trainer in a computer lab of some company or university? That would be my guess.

And I envy you. If I had that many computing power at my hands, I would simply point them to CPU-mineable coins at night and convert all those shitcoins to BTC. I'm sure with 100 decent CPUs you can earn fair amount of BTC everyday. (electricity or maintenance costs aren't your headache, right?)

I would rent my storage + minr coins to earn a bit extra. Renting storage won't affect mining at a high rate.
