McRonald's is awful, unhealthy, has no concern for the communities they exist in. You can tell you are within a mile of one of their outlets by the exponential increase in the amount of trash and food wrappers that appear strewn around the ground. They treat their employees like slaves and the food is disgusting.
They won't introduce btc until it is a foolproof way of transacting funds, right now, the first customer to accidentally send them too much btc will be the only news you would see related to mcdonald's accepting btc.

However, with the huge increase in sock-puppet accounts at bitcointalk, and the effect of hundreds of sub-literate posters contributing here, I guess McDolan's becomes something worth talking about.

I'm curious, what exactly, is life like for a sock puppet? Do you live in a chinese prison camp? or are you working from a tar paper shack in the favella of some south american 3rd world nation? The slums of India?

And while you're at it, ask them to also give discounts for buying combo meals for it as well. Also, they should put the "We accept Bitcoin" sticker on all their locations. Single handedly, this could formula could drive mass adoption of Bitcoin worldwide very fast and we'd have demand coming out of the woodwork.

No, not only do I not see the point in actually begging someone to accept Bitcoin who isn't necessarily going to care about it anyway their food is crap, granted, it would be a PR boost for Bitcoin but I don't see why when there are others who would jump at the chance to get business with cryptocurrency that we should cater to people like that, besides, their food sucks.

A better option would be to contact all the suppliers to McDonald's and get them to start accepting BTC, once maccas realise they don't have to dump their coins for fiat and just use them for there next goods deliveries they may follow suite and save a few dollars on bank transfer fees.

It would contribute a huge new source of potential BTC buyers, but it will also drive down the price. We have seen this same thing, when Dell/Overstock/Microsoft adopted BTC

You see a short term increase in the price, when the announcement is made to the public, and then you see a downward spiral. The reason for this :

1. The hype {good news} will increase BTC purchase from current BTC speculators and traders. They buy low and sell when it's just a little bit higher. Then the downward spiral begin again...
2. The BIG merchants, CONVERT every BTC they get, back to fiat. {Because they have to pay their bills in fiat} This increase the supply of BTC on the exchanges and the price goes down.
3. People would not just convert from fiat to BTC - There must be some incentive for them to do it. {So this does not mean immediate increase in NEW adopters}

These are just some of the reasons, why I am not happy, when I see a BIG company/merchant adopt BTC.  >:(

Even if the price goes down to $1, having more options for spending your bitcoins is always good news.

At least for people that actually use bitcoin as a currency instead of those people holding bitcoins hoping that other people actually use it as a currency.

I don't think mass public pressure is going to get McDonalds to accept bitcoin as the majority of their restaurant locations are independently owned by franchises which work out their own deals with credit card processors (and other payment processors - including potentially bitcoin related ones).

As mentioned many times above you can buy Burger King gift cards via gyft, although this is technically not the same as buying a hamburger with bitcoin

Hell, if they are smart enough , they could advertise it as the BTCig Mac :P

It would get them some free publicity, at least in the short-term.
