To be more precise, I'd say that some russian "politicians" are using their "opposition" figure as a kind of protection against criminal charges. It's strange, but it seems that judges are afraid of them for some reason and won't give a real sentence. Just one example: Navalny, who was found guilty in embezzling of $500000 from Yves Rocher... I don't know much about russian politics, but I think most of the political opposition have to be fake, they are all from the same oligarchy, like in usa and most of countries.
