Anonymous debit card? It seems that they are a few vendors around here that propose this service

This plan has a crap load of holes in it.

Trade on #bitcoin-otc and request for cash in the mail.

Or you could find a p2p meeting place and exchange at the local mall or coffee shop or some dark alley.

Buy something with bitcoins that you can easily sell (such as a GPU) and then sell it for fiat.

We are working really hard with localbitcoins.com, which aims to be best site for buying and selling bitcoins with cash, locally.

Just today we updated the site, now we have an escrow feature with SMS notification, worldwide. This makes the whole process easier:

1. buyer puts the amount he wants to buy, bitcoin address and phone number for sms notification, gets secret escrow code
2. buyer and seller meet at internet cafe, only seller has internet
3. buyer gives cash to seller
4. seller releases escrow via internet
5. buyer gets escrow release confirmation with SMS, with secret escrow code

We are working with the site full time. Next we are going to develop a feature, which allows releasing the escrow with SMS, which enables bitcoin cash transactions without internet access (both buyer and seller need only SMS-enabled phone).

All feedback welcome!

Even the Internet cafe may be not really needed: you might use localization apps like google latitude to find and be found.

5. buyer gets escrow release confirmation with SMS, with secret escrow code

Whats to stop the seller from forging the escrow SMS? That's very easy to do.

The secret escrow code. The seller can't know this, unless the buyer tells it to the seller. The code is always in the SMS.

To be honest, I think this is the killer app which Bitcoin lacks - many methods for cashing out Bitcoins are just too damned slow at the moment.

localbitcoins.com sounds like a great idea, but SMS is not really suitable for someone requiring anonimity?
Ditch SMS and use a web-based smartphone app instead. That'll at least keep things anonymous until the legal eagles make you keep personally-identifiable records of all transactions...

At least where I live it is very easy to get anonymous pre-paid SIM card for phones. Also teh SMS stuff isn't required, it is just made to make the whole process easier. You don't have to use it. You can just rely on emails.

I don't know much about this, but what do you mean with a clean phone? Last time I bought an extra phone with 20 eur, cash, from a small store, Germany. No questions asked. I see no way to trace the phone back to me. But maybe in some other countries they ask papers even for phone purchases?

Is it possible to make a service like this?
1) you make the account on the service
2) the service gives you code (example: 34757893368) and a phone number.
3) you go out and buy a phone card ( it's usable on phone boxes )
4) you insert the phone card on a phone box
5) you call the phone number given by the service
6) you insert the code: 34757893368
7) the service will instantly empty the phone card and will convert the money in bitcoin on the account.

Do you pay fiat or btc into the service? How does the phone cash out to you?

I don't know how it works out-site of Italy.
But here we can buy phone cards (http://www.carnevaledisciacca.it/prova/card5.jpg) that are usable on phone boxes (http://www.clubradio.it/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/cabina_telefonica.jpg)
Cards are in FIAT money.

The service must give a phone number that the user call from a phone box with a phone card until the card is empty.
After this the service will convert the money earned from the call in Bitcoin in the account of the user.

I'm assuming both parties have their netbook or laptop with their BTC client, you see the cash, you send the BTC? They verify the incoming transaction then hand you the cash? Each with their own PC and BTC client would be preferable to avoid suspicion. I wouldn't trust someone merely showing me a block explorer of my address and their transaction...not on "their" PC at least.

No need. Look on their site: you just need to be able to send and receive SMS. The seller sees the money, sends a SMS to release the escrow, and the buyer receives a SMS saying that the escrow has been released, exchange is confirmed and money transferred. Two different secret codes are used (one to release escrow, one to confirm escrow release), so that even if only one of the two people has a cell phone the escrow can be released and the release verified.

In my transaction, the seller used his smartphone to release the escrow, but he could have used a dumbphone as well. I'll probably try the service during my next trip abroad, where I will have cheap SMS but expensive 3G.

buying products online for delivery to your house to resell for cash or purchasing online a debit card which again is delivered to your house is not exactly anonymous.

if you want anonymity from government. then find someone local person in your county/area and trade for cash

that way there is no paper trail of bank accounts and delivery addresses to follow.

1  localbitcoin, it is anonymous, just see each other and get the cash, you don't need tell the buyer your name.  :D

2  btc-e.com, maybe the best choice for exchange, other exchanges need ID verification, not needed here, but you may expose your info to payment processors.  :(

How can I anonymously and most conveniently turn Bitcoins into cash, preferrably through withdrawing from an ATM?

Hi,

Yes it is possible, however, you will have to be in South Africa or neighboring countries that support ATM withdrawals.

I have made this site www.cashsend.za.net (http://www.cashsend.za.net) to demonstrate that it is possible to do so if you have the resources available.

You will end up with a voucher and pin number if you follow the process (will be useless to you if you are not in South Africa) otherwise you just pop down to the nearest ATM (in store withdrawal also available from selected stores) and follow the instructions on the screen.

No financial or other details are stored onsite

What I used to do was sell my bitcoins on LBC in exchange for google wallet funds. I had a verified Google Wallet so I had the debit card. This is as fast and convenient as it gets, and you get a little profit from selling on LBC. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions about Google Wallet let me know; I'm pretty experienced with their services.
