Title: I am leaving guys. :(
Post by: Watoshi-Dimobuto on February 10, 2015, 11:34:45 AM
#magicbeans

I made quite  a big loss of 5BTC today. I had 8.5BTC left, and at PD, I made a big bet and won 4BTC. Then, instead of betting the 4BTC, as I usually do so that I won't lose my principal, (I think I accidentally hit max, otherwise it is not possible), I bet my entire balance for some odds (1.4x or so), and Lost!

Just for the info: my total loss = my total earning till date for 2 years here = 17BTC. :(
Bet IDs 3738681123 AND 3738420804 Primedice

I made the simple mistake of not checking my bet twice, since I was kinda nervous. :(

So, goodbye guys, I realized that once you lose all your Bitcoins, you will lose interest.

I will probably a few years later. (I am now wishing contrary to what I wished before, that the price will go to some $50 or so, so that I might be able to buy back some and come back here. :) )

Goodbye

Yours sincerely
Watoshi Dimobuto aka magicbeans

Edit: Thanks to Stunna, admin of PD, I have received 0.1BTC for trusting on my luck too much. :P
I am slowly recovering and has decided not to leave here after all. (kind of like redsn0w did. ;) )
However I will be reducing the time spend here.

Bitcointalkers are too good and helpful. Can't seem to be able to leave them so long :D

why not do some work for people here(assuming you have some kind of skill) to earn some btc? or sell your sr member account to make a little? btc price is only 200ish right now also so you could buy 1 or 2 cheap enough also. hate to lose a fellow bitcoiner over a simple misclick

Firstly sorry to hear you're holdings crashed.

That though is the life of a gambler unfortunately unless you are one of kind pro you will always lose everything  :'(

Go away work hard and recoup you're losses but when you come back and you will come back leave the rigged gambling sites alone, the truth is you was already gambling the moment you brought BTC so there is little need to go to a site that will basicly steal you're money.

Gambling like that or worse you do need a break and a check back to reality, BTC is not going to $50.

Again take a break and try give you're self a good talking to before buying more.

Learn to trade or something you enjoy other than that crap.

Good luck

Happened to me last year, and since then I have limited myself from gambling. Best thing to do is, not visit the gambling sites.
Sorry for your loss.

That's why gambling is bad.
I lost more than you about 2 years ago, look at my register date. I lost all my btc. I have decided to leave from btc world, my biggest regret wasn't because I lost my btc but because I miss bubble at the end of 2013.
Don't leave from what you want to live with, but leave from what you could lose what you have.
Forget about gamble and build a new life.
We're all love btc, aren't we?, then stay here.

Sorry for your loss :'(
It's so easy to hit MAX button on PD (and many other dice sites). Sometimes I hit it instead of neighbor x2 button.

If you bet your whole balance, then you will end up losing everyhing sooner or later.  I am sorry that you have lost a lot of money, but it is probably better for you that you stop betting heavily on games of chance.

Not sure.

I'm just coding now and earning money doing so. I'm also putting my money back into my projects so I can gain even more.
The fact that I lost a decent chunk of change helped me to stop...

Sad news :(
"Never gamble more than you afford to lose" you should have kept most of your BTC out of gambling sites. Too late now.

I don't think I'll ever get to own 17 BTC. It's a ... big amount.

Good luck and.. find your way back here some day.

Eventhough the chance of winning is high doesn't mean you always win...

Learn from this experience ...and soon you will back again from your recovery

Only 17BTC? I lost 70btc on altcoin(shitcoin) trading, 6.5btc on future trading. I lost 40btc on vootcoins scam, although I hate that scammer dev but I have to continue my life. I was rich last year, but now I have nothing. Be strong dude, I plan to join bit-x signature campaign and post 300 posts for 0.36btc per month, and I won't trade shitcoins or gamble in the future. Life is going better, dude.

But I was lucky in dice game, I won 6k USD from dice, but all of my gamble profit became 0 because of SHIT altcoins. I hate those scammer devs.

Sorry for your loss @Watoshi-Dimobuto. But... that's the risk of gambling... sometimes you win and sometimes you lose...
IMO 17BTC is enough to keep it and son't bet rolling on a gambling site.

Hope you can recover some helping the community offering services or with your own skills  ;)
Remember the real potential of bitcoin.

Taking a break in a good idea, but you should just leave the gambling world only.
If you are still optimistic about bitcoin, you could still earn bitcoin from scratch by providing services, or invest part of your savings in bitcoin.

Sorry for your loss... however like others already said, HEALTH IS MORE IMPORTANT. Money and bitcoins come and go, and they could easily come again in the future.

If you want, check out my game: it's running with no house edge for now (the only amounts that are kept from the bets are used to pay for the TX fee), you can bet dust (down to 0.00001 btc) and if you are lucky you can win over than 31 bitcoins (currently).

On 26 January I just launched my gambling and made 12 BTC in 7 days.

OP that's my story:

On 16 January I won 5.50 BTC in a gambling (it took me 30 minutes to win all). The next day after the winning I deposited all my balance (5.52 BTC) to gamble.. You know what happened? This time took me 5 minutes to lose all.
On 26 January I just launched my gambling and made 12 BTC in 7 days.

Never give up mate, come on!

as rocky balboa said:

"You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!”

Sorry for your lose.

You should stay away from dicing site in which you would win, or lose ALL in one bet.

I prefer one like luckybit, Even I am out of luck and hit a "0.4" or "0.3", I could save something instead of losing ALL in dice site.

I just logged in, since I saw a huge number of replies here. Thanks for your warm hearted support. :D

Sorry for your loss :'(
It's so easy to hit MAX button on PD (and many other dice sites). Sometimes I hit it instead of neighbor x2 button.

Yeah, I am sure I did that. There is no other possible explanation. PD doesn't warn you like most other sites, when you are betting max.

You bet your entire balance :o
You should know gambling is for fun, not for get money

I hope i won't leave bitcoin if i lose all my BTC
Quote
If you bet your whole balance, then you will end up losing everyhing sooner or later.  I am sorry that you have lost a lot of money, but it is probably better for you that you stop betting heavily on games of chance.

You don't seem to understand that I never intended to bet the entire balance on a single bet. I was probably freaked out that I didn't check it twice. :(

Sorry man, that is a crappy way to go out, but at least you didn't lose them to some butt head scammer.

I do hope you'll reconsider and come back soon.

Good luck either way!

lol, the best way to get it out of my head, is to believe that bitfinex got hacked and all my balance vanished. :P

I also have another reason to quit, which is, lol, bitcoin is taking me a lot of time. This is a crucial part of my life. If I succeed in my career, I will buy a lot of Bitcoins, and bankrupt PD hodl it.  :D

i also learned some pretty hard lessons from this experience. I also wished I used Coinbase Vault. :P

Logging in once a week is more than enough to. Good luck with your endeavors .

Of course the probability is close to zero because the prevalence of scams around here is extremely low. But still, and let me make perfectly clear that this is a microscopic STILL -almost non-existent-, what if the guy is just making up this sob story to set up some begging scam ? I know; it practically never happens here but still there´s always the outside chance.

you are such a dumb, or are you just spamming this without even reading to boost your post count for BITMIXER SIG CAMPAIGN?  ::) ::)

you can verify this bet at PD rather than spamming your post count

Goodbye

during my gambling, I always take the capital is not too big, so if I do not lose too sick. but gaming with small capital yes it is not fun, so the bigger the bet the greater the risk and the greater also if the profit

I wount even touch the topic of how smart is it to play -ev games like dice, but keeping your entire roll on the gambling site (or exchange, for that matter), is not super smart as well.

I had a similar experience on JD when they launched. Put me in the red for 49 clams which i bought in the big pump at 0.01 each. I realise it is not as much as you lost, but this amount was fairly significant for me, who owns only 2.5 btc. Another time i lost on another site. I know it sounds easy, but you should not let this affect you and your association with bitcoin. I have seen you lending thread and i do believe you are one of the nice guys on the forum. Would hate to lose a good guy like you, who are very few and far between. So yeah, get a nice signature campaign or work a bit and buy back in and it should all be good. Initially you will feel like you lost the world, but you will get over it eventually. I remember losing 0.4 btc when btc was at $600 and that stung me enough to get me off the forums for a couple weeks. Then i realised that it was not worth it to give up everything for such a small loss (for me it was a big loss), i came back and made quite a bit off signature campaigns and gambling and rebuilt my corpus. Shit happens, but how you come out of it is what counts. Good luck either way.

I'm holding. I didn't exactly buy that much, but I used up some of it to pay for assorted expenses (in the hopes that BTC would "appreciate" as time goes by.)

That's the goal long term. Maybe I'll go buy some more now.

The worst that can happen is I go broke right? That's not so bad.

i think PD doesnt ask you if you hit the max bet button :/

Yeah, they don't warn you. If so, I wouldn't have lost that 12.5BTC. I would be losing just 0.4BTC :(

I`ll prob see you come back at the end of this year.

the price will fall so hard you`ll buy back at $40-50. most people who think the price will jump from $200 to $1,000 are on drugs and dont know how real economics work to create value.

Sorry for your lost. But never bet what you can't afford.

You lost a total of 17BTC and 5BTC in this case. So it seems you have been losing regularly. Its best that you avoid gambling sites altogether.

You should stay here and get some Bitcoins. If the price zooms to $1000 or more you will be very miserable, much worse than you are feeling now.

Yeah, that really is a shame. It could have went both ways though, you could have accidentally clicked max bet and won. Just take this as an expensive lesson learnt, if you do decide to come back to the bit-coin scene that is.

OP will come back. He just needs to blow off some steam, i am sure he will start feeling better once he starts realising that this is not the end of the world and he just lost a bit of play money. It can be difficult when you lose money but, you just need some time to get off that feeling and i am sure he will come back stronger and wiser to boot. I wish you good luck Watoshi and await your return to the fold in the near future. :)

It is sad to see that gambling has resulted in people leaving Bitcoin.  :(
In fairness, it's probably the reason they were in bitcoin to start with!
Bitcoin works well for gambling, but just as with normal money, if you lose money, it's probably worth quitting.

When they have a gambling addiction, they need to know it then act to not gamble anymore. What about a business or foundation to help the gambling bitcoin addicts. It could help the Bitcoin image.

They never stop gambling until they get help unless they are super strong willed but most are not to be addicted in the first place.

It is an illness a horrible one at that and it needs a lot of work to over come, good luck to you guys who have gambling addictions as you will surly need it.

try playing with the capital is not too much, and when the profit of 100%, you save capital first, and then you play the profits to really enough for you, and do not be greedy, you have to know when further and when to stop

Not about gambling, but if you get scammed for a 100 BTC, then you will get demotivated to continue.
I found that people with more money tend to be scammed easier that poor people. If you have that much of a money your basic instinct is somewhat asleep and you will get hasty with your money. But from the other side if you have your last money you would not give it away that easily... Lesson learnt.

This is why it's important to meditate on the good things you have.  Close your eyes, go blank for as long as you can.  When you come back to conscious awareness it's time to take inventory of the many good things you are blessed to have: you are breathing, you can see/hear/smell/touch, you have food, shelter... perhaps you even have wealth in a modest or even extravagant sense.

Of course, it's just part of life: living and learning.

Just wish I could take my own advice.
