Quite an old news actually. He based on that on current scenario and I just hope he can repeat the whole process in maybe the next year to come and let's see how much things that could probably have changed by then.

You seem very optimistic so I doubt it, though I am glad btc is getting mainstream mentions, though I think the inevitable conclusion of this show will be that you can't actually live on bitcoin or buy that much directly with it currently. I like Morgan though so lets see how it goes.

What great press! Morgan's sure to provide a fair look at bitcoin, explaining the good and the bad but all of the practical press that's provided will help in the long run. At a minimum it shows people who've "heard of bitcoin" how easy it can be to get involved. It may still be a novelty to those people but novelty turns into adoption.

All of us should share the show with our friends and family so as many people as possible can see it!

I agree. I also saw something saying that at the least, people should come out of watching it with an understanding of what Bitcoin is. Most people, in the US of A anyway, don't even know what Bitcoin is, so if everyone told their friends/family/co-workers to watch, hopefully it will get a large group of people who didn't know what Bitcoin is one day, to actually understanding what it is the next. So they can have conversations about it in the future and have some sort of understanding to start with, etc. I already told my family to check it out. I plan on tweeting again to get others to check it out when it airs.

Morgan Spurlock usually does documentaries and insider reports better than other filmmakers.

LOL.. wrong thread but for now I'm just messing around on OKcoin with a few btc and that's about all.
So pretty much I'm mostly in a HODL pattern thanks to Cavirtex and their unscheduled closure. I'm really hoping that the guys at CanadianBitcoins step up and start a real peer to peer exchange. They already have a fixed rate exchange that I've used many times so the trust is there. I know others have used them as well and are also hoping they step up. TBH... those guys are the only trustworthey guys in the game in Canada. The guys at quadriga from what I hear come from a hacking background... There's no way I'm gonna trust them...

It wasn't bad. As someone who isn't new to Bitcoin I was looking for more of an in depth show on truly living for a week on Bitcoin, but considering it's a one hour program on a news network, I'm not really surprised to see the interviews and "bitcoins for dummys" type tutorial segments.

Not bad, thought it was a good, watered down version of what Bitcoin's all about, for the common viewer to understand.

Without going in depth into spoiler territory for those that didn't see it, wish he'd have shown Andreas much longer than the screen time he got.

Overall, a very positive overall impression, and Morgan did a real good job.  Not quite as in depth as "The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin" was, but for an hour on network television on CNN of all networks, I thought Bitcoin was portrayed pretty fairly.

I'm pretty sure this was one Morgan show exchanged for another in hopes of rebuilding some viewership to CNN (look up the last morgan pierce). This guy (Morgan Spurlock) did a pretty good job and I'm sure CNN took notice of their extra viewers on board tonight. However, during the segment it was shown during the transactions that the BTC price was ~$634ish during the programming element so anyone that checks the price out now is gonna LOL, that was a prob. Andreas got about a minute of face time to work his magic, unfortunately, but was quite good as normal. It was Mt. Gox heavy and ended w/ Sen Manchin's bs about Bitcoin and the unregulated environment surrounding it suggesting that the average person could be wiped out but was open to regulation to keep things legit. However, I've never seen an hour program on network news (albeit a lower viewed show) showcasing Bitcoin for this long.

I can confirm that his is a hit with bitcoin plebs. My friends whose are clueless about bitcoin enjoyed it and got interested. They want me to send them bitcoins for free now tho lol.

I can hardly imagine that. From my experience living only with BTC alone is impossible at this point. And of course a huge difference is your whereabouts. Maybe in some higher developed countries it will be possible but I am from EU and I could not do it here for sure. I need to convert BTC to standard currency to be able use it in most cases.

Yes it's worth watching.  A few things are a little dated, but overall, this goes in depth much more into the details:

Both are good documentaries.  Inside Man is like eating a slice of pizza, Rise and Rise is like eating Veal Parmagiana with Broccoli Rabe on the side.

The show was interesting to see from a lay person's perspective and Morgan is certainly that. He didn't really say anything wrong and did a decent job of simplfying things for the people. He got really excited and giddy when he made his first transaction but the thing is, he didn't really understand why. He made a digital transaction. Woohoo!! Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and dozens of other apps out there will let you do that. He never really touched on, nor understood, what makes Bitcoin different and why it is so cool.

He doesn't seem to understand, or at least talk about, the two biggest selling points that make Bitcoin vastly better for the end user: anonymity and decentralization. He did talk about being able to buy things on Silk Road but that's not what I mean by anonymity. Anonymity gives you the freedom of sending money to someone without fear that your personal identification could be stolen as a result of the transaction and used against you. You can send money to various merchants without some credit card company, or Apple, or Google, or Amazon, tracking every purchase you make and trying to figure out ways to use this personal information. Decentralization also frees you from getting your personal information stolen via a company hack but also prevents the inevitible corruption of centralized control of the currency.

There are, obviously, other benefits to Bitcoin and I think I remember him very quickly mentioning credit card fraud and merchant fees, things that merchants would definitely care about but the end user could not care less about.

I agree, it would be good if he ran the same concept for a show a year or two from now when things have changed some.
